I happen to smash the touchscreen glass. Everything is still working: touchscreen with multi-touch, the video screen is not damaged at all. It is just the top glass.
Any suggestions where to get the replacement and how to replace it?

Try Viewsonic customer service
or... buy another one and take the gla... nevermind.
So this confirms the answer to my post about whether it is plastic or glass? The Rain X poster said that screen was "plastic" but I thought it was glass....
Might be a slip of the keyboard. It sure pings like plastic. Maybe the original poster has a photo?

I should have used "plasticky" I don't know if the touch-panel substrate is polycarbonate or tempered glass/pyrex. My tooth test says probably some sort of glass but it's weirder than regular glass... sort of like a clear version of those unbreakable corel plates (tap your tooth onto the surface - you'll get what I mean). The plastic surface I was referring to in the Rain-X thread is the thin UV cured hard film surface that protects the flexible touch detection layers just below. Think of it as fancy thin clearcoat. I should have worded it more carefully (but it was the middle of the night and my brain had already shut down)
Broken glass
Here are some pictures pictures. There are some glass (ish?) particles under the screenprotecttor
Here are some more pictures of the broken glass
another batch of broken glass.
By the way Viewsonic was not able to help, nobody there was able to name any place to get the replacement screen to be installed myself or any service facility.
You can try to some chinese sites that sell zpad. They may also sell just the screen. I have seen some sites selling the screen for the gpad (the ipad clone) such as pandawill.com
Could not find any link to digitizer glass on pandawill.com or aliexpress .
Just for curiosity, how hard did the hit was; it would be intresting to know how durable our really g-pad are.
BTW: I am sorry about the screen.
I cracked my screen too... it's on the corner but it still works. But I rather get it repaired/replaced. I have yet to find any replacement screen online.. It's driving me nuts.
Go upstream
If VS can't help, try asking the integrator (Malata) or the touch-panel manufacturer (Sintek Photronics). Some contact info:

Sintek Photronics: http://www.sintek.com.tw/p1_8-english.htm
Not to durable.

I cracked my screen in the corner as well. I dropped the tab from about a foot onto a pillow, it fell off the pillow about an inch or two and the screen glass looks like I took a hammer to it. I could have been more careful for sure, but I have dropped electronics much, much harder and nothing. When it hit the floor I kept walking cause I thought it was nothing, when I looked at it in the morning it was FUBAR. If I can fix this I will certainly post details on how to fix it.
Touch screen
I broke mine too and got a replacement from Pandawill for $12, problem was the Post office managet to break it.
do you have a link to how/where you got the replacement screen?

I need a replacement as well. I also looed at pandawill and only saw replacements for Ipad. PLEASE help me! Everything still works on mine but my glass incompletely shattered.
I dropped my HTC Legend yesterday onto concrete, and now my screen is cracked. I've looked online to see if I could buy the part myself, and try and fix it myself as a local cell repair shop says it will cost 180$ to fix, for that price I'll just buy a brand new Legend and cut my losses with this one. Looking around online though, I'm unsure as to what I need to buy? I've found an LCD screen, or a digitizer... My touchscreen and all those functions work 100% all thats wrong is the glass is spiderwebbed pretty good. I'm thinking that I need the digitizer not the LCD screen? Or is there just a part thats just the glass? I'd post a picture of the phone, but I can't due to site restrictions.
Hi. I have a problem with a minor crack on the front glass near the "go back" button. (I've marked it with red line on this picture: http://i51.tinypic.com/10rpybl.jpg )
So my question is what is the cheapest way to fix it? I have been thinking about SGP Glass but I don't like how it looks, however if there is no option to replace just a front glass, I will consider it.
i have the same question,
Is it passable to separate outer glass and LCD ?
on ebay you can find only glass, no connectors, that means it should be passable to separate them, does anyone tried to do so?
I would like to know that also. Anybody has experience with that?
it is possible, i have the same problem...but ideally you should use a special tool to seperate the digitiser (the actual touchscreen bit) from the glass.
and you'll risk breaking your working touchscreen if it goes wrong..
if the screen functions and the crack isn't that big...and if you can't afford to go the whole way and replace the lot....i wouldn't bother (i'm not and i have a huge spider like crack all over my phone.)
I dont think so. Mostly the Touscreen is bound to the Display.
Watch this Video around 2:45. You will see that he nearly destroyes the glass.
watch?v=k6Y6an6D2P | sry can post any Urls yet
But i cant also explain to myself why there are only "glass" sold on ebay
Glass Frame

to answer all your questions YES its possible but in-order to do so you'll have install a copy of the original glass which comes in full meaning the other half the your phone

That is exactly what I need to do.... Replace the glass only! I already have the glass but need to figure out how to replace it without damaging the digitizer.
Maybe your friend can help?
The whole glass/digitizer is very expensive!
Please help!

This could affect the touch sensitivity badly. If the repair is too pricy for you, use a screen protector so you won't get cuts and save money for repair.

Hello, Does anyone have experience in replacing touch screen digitizer. I've read somewhere that if your screen is cracked and the touch is not responsive you can replace the Touch Screen Digitizer yourself, i called sony and they said i had to have the whole screen replaced which would cost about the same as a new tablet
The Touch Screen Digitizer is sold many place for about 40$ so if i can replace it myself that would be awesome
Does anyone know how i would go about it? Do i need to take off the back panel or can i rip it off from the front somehow, can't find videos of this anywhere.
Thanks in advance
(Btw my daughter dropped it and the glass is cracked but the LCD is working fine. Just the Touch which isnt working)
Due to a workplace accident I ended up smashing the screen of my Padfone S Plus. I replaced the screen myself which didn't quite go to plan as I must have damaged the digitizer somehow. I ended up getting another screen and digitizer and got it fitted at a phone repair shop. I've now got a repaired screen which I can barely use without docking it in the tablet as the touchscreen is just sluggish. Just wondering if anyone has one they are looking to offload.
Thanks
