Deep Sleep question - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Is there a way to determine that there are some apps running in the background that will prevent your phone from entering deep sleep?

Maybe this helps
[GUIDE] HOW-TO Properly Evaluate Battery Life and Provide Useful Reports

Thanks but I already have a tool like this. What I need is if there's an app or widget that can notify me if there's an app left running in the background that will prevent my phone from going deep sleep.

How do I detect wakelocks inside of applications ?

In the quest for battery life and RAM enhancements, and the fact that many applications use wake locks to keep themselves active in the RAM.....is there an easy method to identify which apps contain wake locks ?
I can see active apps easy enough, but does that state simply mean a wake lock is present ??
A little info from a dev or two would be much appreciated.......g

Not sure there's an extra easy way... Nonetheless, check out BetterBatteryStats, if you haven't done so already? It does detect Kernel as well as partial Wakelocks. Here's a link that should help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Wakelocks
Also, if I remember correctly, you can open your favorite terminal emulator and type:
Su
dumpsys power
Your TE should display any at this point, and if your TE has a zero in the last two lines, there shouldn't be anything you need to worry about.
As far as RAM goes, Android has managed it well since Froyo 2.2, so its not really a concern that's worth your time. Nevertheless, I still find myself manually shutting down apps that I don't want held in RAM with SystemPanel or Taskiller anyway, d'oh! It's a bad habit - OCD problem for me, lol.., due to many years with Windows Mobile. Bottom-line is that Android will end idle app - process tasks as needed without our help, lol... and I'm sure you know that too.
In regard to battery life, here with Saurom 7.1, the display, mobile data, cell use, and cell standby, as well as an add-on ProximityScreenOff Pro app, consume the vast majority of the battery juice. That said, if I set wifi to sleep when the display is off and shut down mobile data, the battery life and deep sleep % increases dramatically.
Hope this helps a little...
Best to all,

You can check "Wakelock Detector" app which is available in Google Play
It has a simple UI which shows detail list of acquired wakelocks per each application
and as you mentioned, it shows active running apps on the top, which might have wakelock present at the moment.

[Q] Partial Wake Lock Help

I keep getting the following partial wake lock as my highest contributor:
AlarmManager
cloudtv.hdwidgets.HD Widgets
Anyone know of a solution other than to remove the HD Widget all together?
I have weather update set to only when I refresh, all options to check for updates or any communcations off. All locations services off, and anything else I could think of off.
Hoping someone might have a suggestion or two to try... :fingers-crossed:
Heeelp battery drain
Same here this wakelock is draining my battery to the point my cpu spy tells me my cpu never gets lower than 500.
Check the widget settings, maybe refresh or update is set to a silly update rate?

App for wake lock statistics

Hi all,
I am a battery fanatic somehow, always trying to improve my battery usage.
One question is there an app out there that may give me statistics about which wake lock was raised at which time?
I love batterbatterystats but it 'only' shows the aggregated time of wakelocks held by kernel/app etc. This is a great and powerful tool.
But what I am looking for is to get an overview at a certain time which app held which kind of wakelock (start time, end time), at which time the screen was on/off, CPU was running etc.
Those data must be somehere, as the android battery info shows those bars in the grafic, but of course not indicating the exact time and culprit.
If there is no app, what is the terminal command to get those statistics, android is reading to show the timing in it's grafic?
Thanks for your help!

It'll improve battery life a little. But what drain battery is 3G and wifi and the service that prevent your phone to go to deep sleep mode while 3G/wifi is on. You can install CPU spy and wake lock detector to investigate what drain your phone battery and try to stop that service or remove it.

Thanks for ur reply...ok let me try with cpu spy and come back to u....but i have already installed wakelock detector...
I use Greenify to stop services from those apps that I am not currently using. When Greenify hibernates the app, it also hibernates the related service.
I did see a small increase in the amount of deep sleep and a small battery life improvement. Of course, your mileage may vary due to not all services waking the device.

[App Request] that can monitor system processes while screen is off

Hello
As the title suggest i'm looking for an app that can monitor background proccesses while the screen is off, like one that can record and show which cpu processs ran the most, more like the "Show CPU Usage" feature on the Developer Options but one that can atleast record for me to check later which process ran the most. I know there are apps like Gsam but it doesn't do what i want it just shows Android Systen and Android OS it doesn't show which processes specifically. It should work without root as i'm not rooted.
This is all in the hope of dealing with the huge standby drain on the OJ5 firmware.
Thanks in advance
