Losing data or poor data connection! Help! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Is anyone in the Florida area or anywhere seem to be losing data connection?. I'll try to go on this app, or google. The 4g symbol is there but no orange lines extending from it. I have to keep closing applications and try again. The loading bar will be there and then stop and nothing. Happens alot. and then starts working again.

Happens from time to time in the Tampa area as well in Orlando area. Seems to happen most often when switching from WiFi to cell data. It comes back in under 10 seconds though once it gets a signal.

Mine happens most of the time on 4g data..

Tampa your at least on lte. I'm on just 4g.. But the 4g symbol is there. Just at times when trying to connect, the yellow data lines do not show up. And have to force close and restart. I was told by an att Rep at the store that the data signal where I live is not great. That's why. Wish I had lte.

My 4G won't work?

My phone says it is connected to 4G with 2 or 3 bars but it makes me disconnect from all my apps like Skype. If I turn it off 3g kicks in and everything works. Ive turned it off 3 or 4 times. I can't find a support number. What do I do?

Please stand on your head and with your left hand grab your balls and cough... You should be connected...
Did you try a reset/battery pull?
If all else fails do a factory reset.. you'll lose yur apps and **** but if you have them synced to Google after you reset they will restore them selfs

I have noticed my 3g keeps dropping every once in a while. Is this a bug or do I need to change some setting. My dinc4g is still stock just to let you know.

I am in 3g at the moment. But several towns around me within a 8 to 10 mile radius has 4g. We should have 4g soon. I also have noticed when I wake my phone up sometimes my 3g is gone and then comes back.

My speeds are pretty much not even LTE. In fact I was getting just as good speeds with my non-LTE Atrix 4g. From my bedroom I get about 1mbps and the upload...well if it registers at all I get 300kbps. Admittedly I get terrible terrible reception here even on my old phone. At my grandmas house where I get 3-4 bars I got up to 8mbps per second on one or two tests but often it was around 3mbps. The upload there never got above 600-700kbps. I live in Orange County, CA so maybe there are so many users that that's just as fast as we get...or maybe it's this phone. I dunno yet. Gonna try it at work(Disneyland) tomorrow and see how it works.
I attached a txt file with my tests...on most of them it says HSDPA, dunno what that even means.
Sounds like you do not have LTE in your area yet. The signal icon on your status bar will say 4G LTE if you have it.

But we do have LTE, it says on the coverage tracker that we do and my dad has the HTC One X and he gets LTE. Now that you mention it though it says 4G at the bar at the top of the screen and not LTE. Is it supposed to say LTE?
Yes it does say it right under the 4G. Go back and look at some of the screen shots. If you are both on At&t you should go to the store because you should have it also.

I don't know the AT&T network but on Rogers, Bell & Telus in Canada you need to specify an LTE APN. The HSPA/+ APN you have configured by default with your SIM probably won't support or recognize LTE service speeds, and even my 'LTE network' microSIM didn't import this automatically, I had to manually input the APN.
33/1.9 I wonder what's up with my upload speed.

Sprint Airave and 4G LTE connected

So I have a tower that was updated with LTE and before I couldn't get any service. After realizing I had 4G now by my house, I realized as well that my Airave was disconnected and when I reconnected it, it seemed my phone would switch back to 3G, however some how I am now getting great signal and still connected to LTE while connected to my Airave as you can see in the pic. I guess I will be calling sprint and canceling the return package for the Airave! The green is my airave and the red is the newly launched LTE tower.

Anyone know why mine constantly switches from 3 different towers every 30 seconds or so. The closest Tower to me does have LTE but it never stays on that tower and that's the tower I get the best reception from bout 3 or 4 bars then I'll lose it all in seconds. Don't understand why. We just got a few lte towers up so I don't know if network Vision project is affecting it. I've never had good reception at my house so seeing 4 bars is nice, just wish it would stay

Is the little blue tower thingy an icon for a Sprint tower or an airave? I have a blue tower thingy RIGHT next to my apartment and I have always had awful signal. (2 bars maximum, no bars / roaming minimum. Most of the time I'm at no bars)
Could the little blue icon mean there is an airave nearby?

Uhh not sure what you mean. The green triangle in the original post is my airave and the red triangle indicates the tower that is close to me. And yes so lucky to have a tower that damn close. I remember looking at where towers were going to be and remember seeing one close to my house, but didn't think it would literally be in my backyard...I drove around it to see if I could see an actual tower and I guess its not too high so my guess is it may just be like a station or something..But this airave and LTE is awesome, I been getting 3-5 bars all the time and anywhere from 3-12 mbps LTE

At first I had 4g and like I said I realized my airave was off and when I unplugged it then plugged it back I got the 3g then later it switched to 4g and I checked the airave and it was all green, made a call, heard the three tones at the start of connecting the call like always, so I think it may be because I am so close to the tower..I have no idea lol. Ill let you know what version when I'm home again in a week.

There is an affect called the umbrella affect. When you live to close to a tower you get similar behavior as if you were distant from tower. So it will connect and drop that tower constantly. So in umbrella situation if you stood right next to tower you couldn't connect to it but once you reach a certain distance from tower signal picks up.

That's beyond the point. As you can see I have no complaints lol. I am enough close as I should be and not distant and pick up lte signal, signal many are wishing they had and with a device (Airave) that should only pick up 3g data and voice. I agree with you on the umbrella effect however that is not the issue here by any means. I guess you could say I'm right where I need to be

Unreliable LTE connection

Hey everyone,
For some reason my GN3 isn't getting a 4G connection in my home or office, my GN2 gets a flawless connection.
I did all standard trouble shooting procedures with Sprint but no go.
I made sure the cdma/lte option was selected, turned off the connection optimization, reset the profiles and prl.
Sometimes the 4G will turn on, but it will disconnect quickly. Is my phone defective?
Thanks

Actually it seems better than the note 2, I am getting 4g where my wife note 2 is only getting 3g in some spots. Yes we are side by side when it happens. Yes we traded phones to see if it was just the distance of a foot or two in the truck made the difference. It did not.

I get some issues from time to time; In Seattle, Sprint has yet to officially announce 4G LTE coverage.
I'm lucky to get it where I live and frequent but from time to time it just doesn't seem to work, it will say I'm connected but has DNS errors, perhaps because the connection dropped or they're upgrading a tower... When my connection drops I try cycling Airplane Mode a few times and that usually lets me connect.

I have to cycle airplane mode to connect a lot of times as well. Does anyone know why LTE seems to be so much tougher to connect to than WiMax? On my S2 that I just upgraded from you could set the specific db that Wimax connected and disconnected at as well as the specifc interval that it would check for 4g. It connected to and stayed connected much more reliably than LTE does. I live in a well covered area, but there are certain points along my driving route where the 4g will drop to 3g. After that I notice that it is very hit and miss as far as deciding to reconnect to LTE, even though the coverage is superb. If I cycle airplane mode, it connects with a strong LTE signal. This is after setting the LTE timer and the buffer timer to 1. Does anyone have settings that make the phone try to connect more often?
Did anybody ever figure out why this is happening, i just picked up my n3 while i was in denver where there is no sprint 4g, but i noticed as soon as i got back to my house where my n2 always got 4g and my wifes icrap 5s gets 4g but not my n3?
Here are the settings I use. 4G almost always. connection optimizer is removed on my phone too. If you use something to create shortcuts to activities you can access the hidden menus without using the dialer. Easy prl change is nice but since 4G is new in my area I stay on the newest the phone grabs from network.

Yeah, I'm getting general LTE flakiness lately, when previously it was fine. I don't know if it's the phone or the network. I seemed to have better speeds with my kyocera torque and s4. I'm guessing it's network congestion. In some places with decent signal, it has slow connection to no. Pisses me off when it drops down to 3g. I'm thinking more people are upgrading old phones and hogging bandwidth. Ten months ago LTE was much faster.
You guys think this would work??
