[Q]How to root .62 firmware without downgrading the firmware? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

How to root .62 firmware in xperia mini...Is there any other process other than d downgrading d firmware thing?

not certain because I am currently researching this myself but I believe that installing a custom kernel can provide you with root without changing your firmware.
for this, you do need an unlocked bootloader however

no need to downgrade yur firmware....... just install a pre-rooted custom rom/kernel buddy!!!
same as me tooo... i install NeroDroid Rom/Kernel!

You can install custom kernels . Preferably x kernel . And you can just make your own custom Rom aw just removing and adding stuffs from various Rom out here

Flash generic global .42 (comes with correct kernal) root it then OTA update to 62 install cwm then go from their do wat you want
But since I have an unlocked bootloader, do you think I would be able to update OTA?
Won't it brick the phone?

mine brick while update through OTA.i have to relock BL with s1tool...
So what should I do?
Should I flash the 0.62 ftf file using flashtool directly and then root it with the Doomlord's kit?
Or any other suggestions???

He's on unlocked bootloader, why messing with ota's..
@OP: if you wanna jump straight to some custom rom: flash .62 .ftf, and flash any custom kernel advised by rom creator.
Its same as you did with ics, first stock .ftf then kernel, then rom.
Hey man. If you previously were using the latest ICS Sony ROM before hopping to a custom ROM, then simply flash the kernel of that Custom GB ROM, wipe everything and flash as usual. You are good to go. There is no need to downgrade so long as you're on latest.

[Q] is there a stock kernel & stock ICS rom for an unlocked boootloader WT19i LWW

Hi, i want stock ics on my wt19i
it has a freexperia rom 2.3.7 on it at the moment, and 2.6.32.9-fxp kernel
is there a flashable ics stock kernel & rom for it or do i have to relock bootloader and flash a stock rom in order to update from sony ?
You can flash it via flashtool without relocking the bootloader
If you want to use stock kernel, but also want root access, you'll have to follow THIS tutorial. But I'd suggest to use a pre-rooted kernel!

How to root ST15i with ICS update

Hi,
I have unlocked bootloader with ICS update installed. I want root access. I have read about one way to root phone. It involves downgrading to GB ftf. I don't want to do it. Is there any other way I can root my phone?

Its easy bro you do not need to downgrade as your phones bootloader is unlocked
just flash the custom kernel with flashtool almost all custom kernel are per rooted:laugh:
Search for flashtool and custom kernel compatible with stock ICS
I suggest you Extended stock kernel it great.:good:
You can search in development section

OK. After I install a custom kernel what do I have to do? Install busy and superuser? How can I go back to stock kernel? IF I go back to stock kernel, will I lose my root?

Superuser is installed automatically, busybox not, you need to install it from Play Store by yourself.
You can install stock kernel with Flashtool, just pick regular .ftf file, but only choose kernel to be installed. You will keep root.

1. Yes u can, with GB ftf file.
2. If u think on ROMs like CyanogenMod ROM answer is no, u must first unlock ur BL.
1. Of course u can, just download the file and flash it with flashtool
2. Some custom rom need unlock bootloaders to be installed, but another rom no need that.
I think if u want to install more custom rom, mod, root and etc, unlock bl is the best way

Guys, thank you very much. I succesfully downgraded to GB official stock ROM.
Now my last but very important question is - i dont like GB and i still dont like ICS (i downgraded only because of better battery life in GB), but i want to test some custom ROM (like AOKP rom posted in Sola section).
As much as i red i can not flash this ROM without unlocking the bootloader and installing CWM on my phone, is that right?
Actually the question i wanted to ask was - if i unlock bootloader can i flash custom rom with Flash Tool or i can flash only with CWM (which i dont know but i dont want to use)?

U can flash custom ROMs ftf files via Flashtool, for zip files u will need CWM.

[Request[: Rooted .62 LWW (or ALL MDPI) Rom

Hi,
I recently tried to root .62 LWW stock rom.
My unsuccessful attempts are recorded here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068238
Again today i tried to do it 2 times. Once with Flashtools and other time with SEUS (though it says i have the latest version on .58!).
I have unlocked BL so doing OTA on .58 rooted version = stops my device from turning on.
So i am just requesting whether someone could upload a rooted .62 stock rom for LWW version? IAlso i have tried rooting on my own using Knight45's article but it failed to boot :/
So now my only option is to get a .62 rooted rom and tweak it slowly on my own
It would be much appreciated for your support in this = )
Thank you

Hi,
Little confused as this hasn't been mentioned before.
Are you saying, for me to get root on .62, all i have to do is:
Flash a stockof .62 rom to my LWW
Flash a custom Kernel i.e. rage kernal 3.0 or x-kernal?
and i shall have root?
And also, yes i have unlocked bootloader.
Custom kernal i was looking to use (will most likely use rage kernal):

Yep, Just Flash a Custom Kernel if you have Unlocked Bootloader and you will get root
