So i am about to RMA my TF201 back to asus due to a software issue and I have a feeling they may check what software is on the device I used vipermod to root the device and install cwm recovery but now I am unsure how I would go about removing it. I was able to use the unroot to remove the root tools and permissions but haven't been able to find any guides as to how to remove the cwm.blob or over ride it with the original recovery.blob so it looks stock.
Anyone able to help me?

Did you unlock the bootloader? B/c you couldn't have installed CWM without unlocking the bootloader. And if you did unlock the bootloader, then there's no point in sending it in for RMA, b/c you voided the warranty, and they will not touch it.

Hi, the 'search' couldn't help me find a right answer to my prob so I started this thread:
All I want is to unlock my Vibrant, the thing is the folder /efs/ (where the files with the codes to unlock are stored) is completely empty. So no nv_data.bin available.
So what is my best approach so restore those file(s)? I am on 2.2. Can't I just restore to stock 2.1 rom with odin? But this is risky, As I understand I could brick my phone entirely because it seams that I have a hardware locket phone (I can only access recovery and download mode through ADB or Terminal) So if I brick it, I can't go to recovery or download mode, I think.
But even if I successfully manage to downgrade to stock 2.1 without bricking my phone there is another prob.:
The guy in the following thread did the same thing now his phone in permanentely locket
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859034
Last post: "still can't unlock though. Was told my phone is now perm locked. im guessing perm stands for..permanent, which means its unlockable..forever. sigh. is this true? anything else i can do now..?"
Isn't there another way without downgrading back to 2.1 ?
Can I still get an unlock code from an online-service everything else fails?
Thank you.
Im sure this is a no go but thought i'd ask for the hell of it. Basically, my only PC has been my laptop and I *accidentally* broke it.
I don't know if you're still locked or not but I think you would have to already be unlocked. You do need a pc to get the unlock token and flash that, I don't think there's any way around that, but if there is hopefully someone will post it if you need it.
If you're already unlocked you may be able to. There's an new tool that I believe lets you flash a recovery from your phone (I haven't had a need for it so haven't looked into it in depth), and I know that if you flash Amon Ra you can get root from that by installing su in the developer menu.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504824
There's no single app like z4root that will root the Rezound. Like feralicious points out you need a PC just to get the unlock token. I tried to create an app for this way back when but it didn't work without the developer USB access. And now that the exploit has been plugged the only way to root is via Amon Ra or by loading a custom ROM with root already installed.
Just curious about the Primeeval Stock Rom
after seeing this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24667031&postcount=18
i was wondering if it is possible to flash this on a Prime that is not Rooted or unlocked?
the thread suggest that you cant have an unlocked Prime, but do i need it to be rooted?
Otherwise is there a way to install CWM without root and without unlocking?
I only ask because after rooting my prime under 9.4.2.15 i realized i had the serial unknown error, so i could not do an OTA update to 9.4.2.21, after a manual update to 9.4.2.21 i now have a serial, but rootkeeper could not restore root, I NOW know that you cant do manual updates and still keep root.

In order to flash a custom ROM onto your Prime, you need the bootloader to be unlocked. You do not need root to do it as there are fastboot methods for both rooted an unrooted Primes.
thanks, although i think they mention on that thread that its a stock rom that wont work on unlocked devices.
i guess you have to be rooted instead.
Hi,
I have a few questions regarding rooting my TF201 - Jelly Bean - 4.11 Tablet.
I have found that because I got the JellyBean I can't get access with NVFLASH to take a full memory dump, which is annoying and I probably don't want to downgrade my bootloader to gain that...
I have put off rooting and such because it was £500+ and I saw the article about it getting 4.3 so I could deal with the forced install stuff, but now it seems that was a fake, I want to put on a custom rom with 4.3 once it becomes stable.
I watched the video where you can unlock the device using ASUS' .APK file, I got the file but it says ICS ONLY (is this a lie? Can I use it on my device?)
I gained root by using the motochopper exploit and updated it to use Koush's SuperUser.
I was wanting to use TWRP but seen lots of things about bricking the device, I have had a locked bootloader in the past on my Nexus One and I could install a recovery image, is this the same with this device, or do I definitely need to unlock my tablet to install recovery and then install a custom rom.
Is there anything else I've missed? Is the ICS Downgrade worth the risk in order to get NVFLASH amongst others?
Can I install recovery with a locked bootloader?
Can I unlock my bootloader with the APK?

You can unlock the bootloader with the Asus APK. Ignore the ICS only note.
You must be unlocked to install a custom recovery.

Perfect, thanks for the response!
Keep in mind that you're in the same boat as I am. You received a tablet updated to JellyBean. No nvflash love for us. Be careful. You CAN still brick this tablet with a recovery. I managed to do it with my last one. Do not ever use goomanager with the prime. Ever.

Hold the phone, you can put a custom recovery on a TF201 after it has stock JB? I thought it always bricked it...

You need to flash stock recovery, or the OTA won't install. In fact, you might even get stuck in a bootloop as the phone repeatedly boots into TWRP, looking for stock recovery (to install the OTA) and not finding it.
Also, if any system files have been modified by root, you need to return them to "stock" state. Otherwise the OTA will fail to install, saying the system has been modified. You can either return any system files to stock manually, or flash a stock ROM, nandroid, or RUU.
You will lose root when you OTA. But its an easy manner to just flash TWRP again, and flash SU/SuperSU to gain root. Unlocked bootloader is okay for OTA, so you don't even need to relock, unlock again, etc. to flash TWRP. But locked bootloader is required for RUU (unless you have s-off) if you choose that route in the paragraph above.
