[Q] Bluetooth Connection Speed - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

Hello; I've noticed something odd with my Note. I have a profile on Tasker to start Pandora when I'm plugged in and BT connected to my car headset/speaker. On my Evo 4G, it would be less than 2 seconds from hitting the Bluetooth switch to the profile activating. On the Note, it has taken upward of 20 seconds from Bluetooth "on" to actually pairing with the speaker and the profile activating. On a few occasions, all I get is the notification that there are open Bluetooth devices and have to manually select my device (Motorola Roadster, if it matters).
I've tried renaming the device, to make sure it wasn't "confused" with the Evo or something but no luck. It disconnects immediately, so doesn't seem to be an issue with the BT toggle or system setting.
Anyone have any ideas of how to speed up the pairing/connection?

Ditto. I always have to long press my cars Bluetooth and click connect otherwise it wont do it

One bump just in case the Sunday night crowd can help.

Have you tried leaving bt on constantly?
The skyrocket has the same issue.
Basically if bluetooth is turned off it kills re connect capability.
I have found that if you just leave bt on it reconects without issue

Meh...i have noticed no ill efect on battery. Unlike wifi bluetooth scans once when turned on and then only when told to...and only draws power when transmitting

[Q] Wired tether + router vs wifi tether

I'm moving to a new apartment with a roommate in a few days, and we won't have internet, so I want to share the data connection off of my rooted Atrix to both of our laptops. I could either a: figure out how to set up wifi tethering directly on my phone, or b: wired tether to my computer and then use internet connection sharing to my router (because sadly my laptop wifi card doesn't support internet connection sharing as best as I can figure out).
I'm a little concerned about directly using wifi tethering from my phone though because of the massive heat generated between running both cell and wifi radios hard and having it charging at the same time since it drains battery so fast doing that, but is that really a big deal?
I use the wifi hotspot function with the phone plugged in all the time. If you're really concerned, I would just avoid putting it on carpet or fabric, as that will retain the heat better.
Nah it shouldnt get that hot. If you are that worried buy a laptop cooler and put it on that or get a desk fan

Alright I'll just do that. I might take off the back cover or something, that would help. Does the phone have any sort of overheating protection built in so I don't have to worry about it?

I'm pretty sure if it gets too hot, it will shut off. Not sure where the threshold is though. I know other android phones do, and my old iPhone did.

Bluetooth calls through car(s)

I have different aftermarket radios in both cars. Phone is synced up to both. I can receive and make calls through both, but when trying to return a call just missed it will not go through the radio even though its still connected. Anyone else have similar issues?

I'm having serious problems with bluetooth. I can talk on it for sometimes five minutes, or sometimes 30 minutes, and I just lose connection even though it says its connected, I hear them in handset for maybe a free seconds then the phone hangs up. Getting really annoying. Same boat as you mainly.

Map My Ride woefully inaccurate?

So is this a problem with the Rezound, or the program? I went for a short 20 mile ride today, and Map My Ride showed it to be 28 miles. It's a 20 mile loop by my cycling computer and by google maps, and this is hardly a small margin of error. I've generally had good luck with the GPS but this is a little extreme.
well, one time just using the standard gps, i punched in an address & it showed it to be in the middle of a lake on the screen... õ_Ô
Solar flares interfering maybe. No, seriously they're high at the moment.
Rezound GPS is not very good with any of the sports tracking apps. Someone posted a thread where clearing agps cache helped but it didn't work for me. I still use my incredible for logging my runs. I haven't tried any of the ics roms but I'm hoping they address the problem.

The GPS on the Rezound sucks! I came from the Samsung Galaxy S and it had its GPS problems as well but it got better and better as time went along. Hopefully this will happen again. But I can be in my back yard and when I start Maps it locks right away and says 5meter accuracy, yet it shows me 100-150 feet away from where I really am. So its basically worthless. While driving it shows me driving through buildings and people's yards all the while saying its got a 5 meter accuracy lock.
Part of the problem may actually be solar flairs, but it does seem to be a larger issue of the Rezound doing fine-grained tracking. Here's my supposed ride yesterday--I was riding like a drunk sailor, apparently!
This problem has definitely been happening since before the current solar activity

Hmm. That's odd, GPS on my stock Rezound locks on quickly and is rock solid. I use Google Nav all the time and it works like a charm.

Google Nav doesn't have a problem for me either, but all the sport tracking apps (map my run, Run Keeper, endomondo, etc.), have problems.
Edit: Here are some threads about this problem

I will have to try this.. I've never had a gps problem on HTC phones. On my Samsung charge.. if the wind was blowing you couodnt get a lock.. my buddies Samsung captivate can't get a lock unless he's holding still in clear view of the sky. If he's driving.. it won't lock at all.
Every HTC phone I have used locks in seconds.. every time, all the time and always accurate.
And you guys realize that if for whatever reason the GPS connot find.you, its going to triangulate off ccell towers, which is never accurate.

The current solar activity has been present since before the rezound was released.. we are in the middle of an 11 year cycle of solar hyperactivity.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
Please do try, then I think you'll see what the problem is.
Edit:
For clarification, this is the solar activity being referred too - http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/03/08/solar-storms-causing-few-problems-on-earth/
I just noticed that in GB and ICS, it seems to be having the problems start up around the same time (a little more than a minute after the screen goes off, it always seems to start out right though). I'm wondering if it has to do with the phone going to sleep or the apps not being able to prevent the phone from sleeping. I'm going to see if the problem happens if I set the phone to never sleep.

The phone was in airplane mode because there's no signal out where I was riding. Wasn't triangulating.
I think it's probably the uptick of solar flares, or there's a problem with how the Rezound tracks w/GPS. Or both.

Note that aGPS (the a is the assist part) uses the network to provide the assist to the GPS to get a lock. If you turn Airplane mode on, you are turning off part of the ability of the Assist in getting the lock faster. So you can be making the use of the GPS much less accurate as it takes longer for the GPS to get a lock.
Once the GPS gets the lock, it doesn't need the assist again, but some apps don't keep using the GPS steadily, and need to reacquire the lock over and over.
Example, if you are using Gmaps, you will notice that the GPS satellite image will show in the top of the notification area while you are using the app. But when you move away from Gmaps, the symbol disappears. That is because it stopped accessing the GPS.
If you don't see the GPS satellite in the notification area, the GPS chip is not currently being accessed and it is is using next to no power during that time.
Not being familiar with the app mentioned in the OP, you would need to check that the GPS is being used continually.
It is not unusual for stand alone GPS trackers (non-phone types) to have glitches in their tracking as you travel, depending on the speed and access to the sky for the GPS signals. Devices like Garmin compensate for that by keeping you on the road, even if the temp position places you a distance from the road so you don't notice it much there. But if you are just tracking position (no locking to a road), you will end up with jutting points that can be a distance from where you were at the time.
A nice thought, but all these app should be pulling accurate gps even if the app doesn't have the foreground and they should prevent the phone from sleeping.

So I tested the app, 'Myrun' And I found your problem. when the app is in the background, it does not update at the same rate as it does when it is in the foreground.
On my attachment, the green dot is where I started, I went out, up the road, and turned around. The screen was on this entire time, notice how accurate it tracked me. It even has me on the correct sides of the road..
at the Yellow dot, I turned the screen off, notice how it jumps from point to point , making it very inaccurate. If I had to guess, I would assume that the app either A, does not utilize the GPS radio while the phone is 'off', or, it polls it less frequently. Either way, this is not a fault of the phone, as you can navigate with the screen off accurately with google nav/maps. So the phone is capable of allowing apps to use GPS data even in an 'off' state.
I would contact the App developer and see if they can fix it. In the mean time, make sure your phone is charged 100% and set the screen to never time out, and turn the brightness all the way down and you'll get accurate tracking with those apps.
Personally, my phone is set to never turn off, and my bike has a phone mount with a charger that gets power off my front wheel hub.
So all the tracking apps have the same problem and only with the rezound but it's not the rezound?

I can test it on my DINC of you want, I have it laying around here somewhere.. give me a bit and ill run the same route using it instead
unless you want it to be the rezound and not the app
I know for a fact the incredible doesn't have a problem, because that's how I've been tracking my runs.
You should still test it though.
I wish it wasn't a problem, I love everything about this phone except for the fact that I can't use it for my running program.

Impressive Bluetooth range

I've had my HTC One for 2 weeks now, and I've realized today how good the Bluetooth range is.
Well, I was in the men's restroom at work when I realized I didn't lose connection while listening to music on my Bluetooth headset, and I incidentally left the phone on my desk. I never had this solid connection on any of my previous phones.
I think I'm really liking this phone even more.

Any more bluetooth disconnect issues?

Hi for those who have played with the Zenwatch 2, have you experienced any bluetooth disconnect issues?
I am about to buy one for my wife but heard there had been some bluetooth disconnect issues in the past with the orginal Zenwatch, so just want to make sure.
Thanks!
Andrew
I've noticed it does seem to disconnect a lot and even close to watch but usually connects back by itself
I have fun into this problem, but it doesn't happen very often. I assume it's a coding problem add Erik Gerry psyched with a firmware update when Marshmallow launches
Yes... regularly... multiple times a day. Phone is always in my shirt pocket, pants pocket or hand, so it's not a distance issue. Wish i could find a way to turn off the vibration every time it disconnects/reconnects
I don't seem to have this issue that I have noticed. Have had it for a bit now with no issues.

I am using a zenfone 2 with my zenwatch. Only time I have noticed it disconnected is when I'm out of range of my phone which is normal. Otherwise everything seems consistent even compared to my Moto 360.

I had a few disconnects beeing next to the phone. But only 3-4 times.
But I had a few reconnect issues after out-of-range disconnects. The watch didn't reconnect properly and I had to fiddle around, reboot, disable BT,...
I just need to use android wear on the phone to retry but it is still odd I suspect it is related to the OS on my phone for saving battery life?

I reset the watch rebooted the phone then the watch and removed the zen watch manager/zen camera and some unused watch face seems better now
Once we get on this watch. A lot of things can get fixed from us dev's. Just waiting on the source code.

Weird. I have the LG G4 and had the LG G Watch for about 6 months prior to getting the AZW2 and I've never noticed it ever disconnect throughout the day. The only time is when I walk out of range, but it reconnects again when I am in the general area
I just got the disconnect issue today. If I restart the watch it'll reconnect, but only for a few minutes then it disconnects. Rinse and repeat. I'd do a factory reset if I weren't at work and far away from my charging cable.
I bought the Zenwatch 2 a week ago. I'm using it with my S6. Software on both is up to date however the watch continues to get disconnected. Last night I did a factory reset on the watch and after a few minutes it disconnected again. WiFi isn't turned on either (which I read might cause interference with the radio or frequencies). I don't think there's any other option left but to return this and try another Zenwatch 2 (hoping it is an isolated issue).
I had a few disconnects, but only when it was out of range. The thing is, I let the phone somewhere in the house and I just wander around. The range on this thing is amazing! But when I get back in range it just reconnects automatically, just as it should. I must say, I am really impressed with the little one :d
Note3 5.0 stock rooted+latest update ZW2
Just curious if this is the way the device works with my phone, the Android Wear app always says "connected", however, whenever I go to the bluetooth settings on the watch, it's always disconnected...........no matter how many times I hit it to connect, it never does................but I always get notifications as usual, and it will vibrate for every call I receive on my phone.
Wifi is still connected. Never used bluetooth since i last setup my watch. Just using my phone as WiFi access point.
