I just got a SGS2 Skyrocket and was using odin. It didn't make any progress for 3 hours so I unplugged (I know not to but I didn't know an alternative either). Anyway, I am now getting the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." Error message. I read in another thread that I should re-enter Odin to try to fix it, but I can no longer get into download mode. What's the next step here? I know this topic has been discussed, but I really want to make sure I do this right.
Wrong forum.

This isn't the skyrocket thread. This is i777 thread. What works here may not work for you.

Do not say that we are not helpfull man!
Maybe no one that read your post has found a solution yet!!!
I actually stopped in this thread once ready to help this guy out but he mentions he is on froyo...
MY device came with Gingerbread, so rooting is as easy as user superoneclick (heck, there is a youtube video talking about how easy it is to root on the 5 but the 4 will be able to do the same). Sadly, advising this with this froyo uncertainty might have the potential of bricking the device, so I passed by this thread saying nothing. So I'll just do this...
Did you do a OTA update through your device's settings and check if there is a Firmware update? Once in Settings, go near the bottom and click the ABOUT button and click system updates - wifi is of course needed but wifi is everywhere even Mcdonalds for free. Update your rom accordingly to get to Gingerbread at least on the device. Then check this video -
www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA4bw8bU4T4
Once rooted, check this thread to choose your kernal and rom you want to flash -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720457
I highly advise Ethereal rom [or Icy Fusion], and for the kernal Terrasilent [or Klin Rev 3] . Be sure to flash the Kernal FIRST not the rom so you can have recovery features in case things go wrong.
P.S. You probably got bypassed btw due to heavy focus is being brought towards other thread s like the ICS thread for 4.0 device or everyone has a thread they particular hang out in. Or it could be that these type of threads like yours pop up so often every month that the people here just glaze over the threads like these telling themselves why don't they do a search in google (like I searched "root samsung Galaxy Player 4" and my first link above is the first one that pops up in google, which is the video i referenced to root mine the first time) or check the All in one thread in the developers section of the Samsung Galaxy Player 4/5 forum (which I linked above as well). I don't mind helping though but that might be because I'm kinda still new here...

Still at 2.2.2 sucks. Odin doesnt detect my Galaxy Player 4.0
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
You can use Samsung's Kies to upgrade to the latest firmware.
However if you have rooted and modified some stuff, there might be a chance of getting your device bricked.
Also, make sure you have pressed Power+VolDown+Home key to get into flashing mode when you use odin.

Wait a minute, which odin are you using? You need odin 1.7 to flash on the YP-G1.
Yes sir i use the one in ur thread 1.7. My galaxy y detects odin but my yp is not. Maybe i should use the own yp usb cable and not the cable from sgy do u think thats the problem?

Maybe, I never saw a case where a phone is recognized and the other device isn't. The only alternative I could is is heimdall but it's longer than odin. Assuming you have tried all the usb ports on your computer. Have you tried to flash on another computer?
NOT YET SIR, maybe i should try to other PC with vista OS
heimdal is for linux os isn't?

I just finished rooting mine the other day. The info you need is in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002555. The only thing I had to do differently was get an updated version of superuser.
This has been asked a few million times. I posted a link the other day that was the best explained, easiest way that I used.

Try Blackstar x rom...
I just got a new galaxy note i717 and I don't have a pc atm, and I want to know if its possible if I can put a jellybean Rom update on my i717 without a pc? If so, how? I want an upgrade from ics, Ty so much for answer and help!
Flashing CWM usually requires a program called Odin that not only enables root access to your phone but other things as well. With CWM there is no need for a computer just an SD card for safety then you can follow flashing instructions!

I suggest you take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740367
All the links don't work, thanks though, but is there any links that work? Thanks a million
Seriously? I just tried no less than 10 links on the page (including the ones that you need) and they worked fine. What method are you using to access xda? I'm kind of concerned that if you can't get the links to work, your phone may be the next non working thing in your life.
I suggest you spend some time reading before acting. I'd hate if your next thread is a "Help I've bricked my phone" thread. Good luck and happy flashing

i have made mess with my note 2 while flashing , i dont know what happen , but no network , internal memory, 4gb , flashing with odin it happned, plz help me, i was rooted first , then i flashed with odin stock rom, plzzzzz help me, baseband , imie, all showing unknown
plz help, plzzzz
Go find all of the stock files needed to flash back to stock. I know there should be at least a PIT and a ROM to flash. Also, try flashing the latest radios through a recovery to see if your baseband comes back. Also, make sure all the files you get are for your specific phone. There are at least 4 variants of the Note 2 so be careful which files you use.

If you would take the time to actually read through any of the stickies, you'd know how to fix your phone. From the sounds of it, you flashed your phone with a ROM/Odin package meant for a completely different device. You need to flash with a full stock Odin package and PIT file to fix things. Read the stickies in the development section. All the information is there, there is no need for hand holding as the step-by-step instructions are already available. I'd also suggest to leave your phone fully stock in the future and not do anything until you learn how to fix it yourself.

Exact same problem
I have the exact same issue and flashing back using ODIN and the appropriate PIT file doesn't seem to be working. Plus it is really challenging to get the right driver setup going to be able to re-write the IMEI back to the phone using the other methods on here.
It takes a lot of time and patience, and trial and error. but it isn't helpful to be condescending on here; remember, someone helped you out when you didn't know what you were doing and got stuck at one point or another, whether it was rooting a phone or learning to walk.
@latif_an [and anyone else who ends up here] here is a link to the IMEI restore method using CASUAL.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2077653
I'm stuck because I'm on a Mac, and don't have access to PC hardware. But if you have a PC, this in addition to the other link above may help.
lol....im in the same boat, unkown baseband, ime, meid ect. tried flashing back to stock with the pit....on all 3 bases. System boots up fine on all three, but no base band. Try flashing modems and restoring IMEI...and im pretty much at a loss now lol
This is solved problem long back. .. Pl read the like post of the past for solution
