Is there any Android apps for cracking/hacking the WEP, WPA, WPA2 ?
When I go somewhere you can't connect to anything except that, and I need NET everywhere.
So how to hack any of these three ?
XDA doesn't condone illegal activity.
cracking wifi isn't illegal. cracking wifi without permission from the owner is illegal.
there are apps like network spoofer, droidsheep, and wifikill that arp spoof / poison and could be considered illegal things depending on the circumstance but are still available on these forums and some even on the android market.
I'm a CIS major going into penetration testing and it certainly wouldn't be illegal for me to hack wep keys ethically.
but to answer op's question - no, there is no aircrack or anything like it.
ubuntu for android may make things easier though, so hold off.
I think when I'm done with my exams I'll try to implement aircrack on Android with a simple user interface (hopefuly injection works with the Primes' adapter). Just to see how dumbasses get caught and pay up for 'hacking' other people. The OP could have just as well asked for 'a good crowbar, because I need free cars everywhere'.

Your own networks or networks you have permission to crack are certainly fine. Everything else is not, just as you wrote two lines above that statement.
I believe there is also an ARM version of BackTrack Linux that has been compiled for the Prime.

Most wireless carriers offer a hack.....its called personal wifi and you PAY for it. I find the statement that "I need NET everywhere" to be quite hilarious.
I grew up in times where the "NET" was non existant. Try having normal realtionships instead of relying on streaming porn.
Im more than sure the OP is referring to illegal activity. If he had permission they would give him the key....

I'm always checking my wifi since a neighbor of mine decided to use my secure wifi once, thankfully I was able to access his computer and have him a scare.
Point is don't use others wifi and stop acting like youre not doing anything wrong.

Only works for some WEP keys, but handy, for pen testing obviously.

It really doesn't take genius to figure out the OP is interested in using someone else's Wifi. And you have to wonder if the OP would be able to use the app if he/she can't use search in the market or google.

The real/good term for wifi cracking on this site is "test wifi password strength" and voilà, here we go legal...
My prefered choice is still BT5 in chroot (till we get dual boot) with an external wifi antenna.

I'm not sure where you got that impression, I don't advocate using other's network access. My point was that you either help the OP, or don't.. There's no point in starting an ethical discussion on the topic on a hacking forum.
I'll ignore the spoiled baby comment, you're old enough to know better.

No less ethical than putting a honeypot on your network.
Y'know people make tools for legal reasons, it's not their fault that those tools get used to commit crimes.

He did not ask how to do penetration testing from the Android. He asked how to crack keys so he could use another persons wifi without getting consent. That intent is illegal. Even penetration testing without the consent of the owner is a very grey area in most of the world and illegal in the united states. Consent is a very important element here.
So yes there are cases where the action is legal what the OP is asking is not one of those cases. Given this, your response to the post is sophistry.

Nope. Not yet.
I don't see why it matters to anyone why someone wants this.
I want this too. I don't have to explain to anyone as to why I want it. Because, it is absolutely none of your business. If you don't know how to implement it, then don't post.
Lol. This is a public forum. Of course you don't have to explain why you want something. Equally, if someone who could help doesn't want to, because they suspect you're up to no good, they don't have to justify their actions either, let alone help you. Blessed be.

Touché. I'll admit it. The main reason I want this is to mess with my friends. Nothing actually detrimental. Same reason I like sms bombers, and caller id fakers.
But still, this would be great to add on to my list
This would be so awesome..just from a security standpoint to be able to show and explain to friends and family to not there guards down when it comes to cyber theft and to turn off your radios when not in use
I never quite understand answers like this. This forum is for the exchange of information, not personal opinions. People that think their some kind of 'ethics police' need not be on this type of site. This site is for the exploration, hacking and development of our phones. Rooting & custom firmware is frowned upon by security researchers and manufacturers alike, but because your into it, it's morally correct?

Yep, one man's "not needed" is another man's necessity. This is no less needed than say someone thinking they need a ps3 controller (or wiimote) working with their phone, but no one really complains about that.
here's a very legitimate reason for you so if you know how PM me
Hi,
A friend of mine has an older mobile with a broken touchscreen - the phone no longer has a SIM or a RAM card and is in "Music Sync" mode when it connects to a PC via USB.
They are currently in a court case and need to get their old SMS's off the broken phone - all the "forensic" mobile software out there (from $500 up to $5000!!!) require that the phone is in PC-Suite (or PC-Sync) mode. This can't be changed on the phone as the touchscreen doesn't work.
The only way to get to the SMS's is by Bluesnarfing, so if you know of a PC program or a WinMo 6.5 program that will let me access their phone PM me.
Thanks.
Why is there always that one person that offers no assistance, takes up bandwidth questioning your motives...
For those that don't know:
"Bluesnarfing is the theft of information from a wireless device through a Bluetooth connection, often between phones, desktops, laptops, and PDAs. This allows access to a calendar, contact list, emails and text messages. Bluesnarfing is much more serious in relation to Bluejacking, although both exploit others’ Bluetooth connections without their knowledge. Any device with its Bluetooth connection turned on and set to “discoverable” (able to be found by other Bluetooth devices in range) can be attacked. By turning off this feature you can be protected from the possibility of being Bluesnarfed. Since it is an invasion of privacy, Bluesnarfing is illegal in many countries."

There are various apps/games that force you to use a wifi connection. On the go, especially for those with 4g phones, that is ridiculous. What app/hack for rooted users will spoof that wifi connection and trick the app into thinking it is on wifi when you are really on 3g/4g?
oops, double post
Yeah I've been wondering that too. If I can't play order & chaos over hspa then I don't want to play it at all
Up.up.up any chance?
Up!!!!! I want this too because i can't play order & chaos in hsdpa....please do this!!!
Ok well turns out there's a workaround for Order & Chaos... look at the market comments on it.
You leave wifi on but not connected to a network and it will work over the mobile network! Seems like quite an obvious thing for gameloft to miss...
Wow, that is hilarious. Tested and working.

looking for this to, this is the first thread I've actually read that doesnt have a massive stream of people asking "why would you want to do that?" its been driving me mental. I've been hunting pretty hard and turned up nothing so far, i wish i new enough about android code to try and do something myself
I once got ahold of a wifi-only app and eventually found where it was checking for wifi, and modded it to simply continue without running the check or returning the proper result.
YMMV though... apktool 1.4.2 was my weapon of choice; even though it's not officially released yet and it's not especially easy to use, it's certainly better than nothing.

This application has nothing to do with the problem stated.
Just stopping by to bump this thread a little, spending the holidays at the inlaws where wifi is less than 800kbps, but i have a nice fat 15mbps LTE connection. Yet I have to leave my phone for hours to download 600mb+ gameloft title via wifi.
I really hope to see a patch or program for this in the future.
this another example of something that is so easy to do on iphone (tweaking) and yet so hard to do on android..
Oh thank goodness there's somebody here to tell us Android phones suck. Thank you for visiting our lowly forum with the lofty intention of providing absolutely no help, at least you bumped this!
I'm presently using another method, which is also expensive (though not nearly as much, or as obtuse, as purchasing an iPhone)... You need two phones, though, one to view apps and the other to load from the network and serve as a wifi hotspot... Yeah.
I doubt this would be hard to do, it's just that nobody has bothered with it yet...

Ok so I have a 3D on my line which belongs to my sister. Well she works at the mall and some Indian guy that used to work for Sprint is telling her he hacks into her phone all the time and uses her internet and that if he wanted to he can access her photos too. So is this possible or is he just bs'in to spark coversations with her? I'm about ready to go over to her job and confront him. I find that sort of behavior creepy and intolerable! Any1 has any idea??

idk man, you need to do some dental work.
I don't know if a "random" person could hack a phone. But:
1. Is the phone rooted? That would give a person more ability to do something bad.
2. There are "spy" software out there. But the guy would have had to have a few minutes alone with the phone.
3. Maybe install malware through an E-mail or text message.
But to use her phone for Internet access sounds pretty weak. Easier and better methods of doing that at a mall where public WIFI is all around.
Bottom line, if you are actually concerned, just have your sister do a factory restore, that wipes everything and then reinstall her apps one at a time validating all are suppose to be on her phone.

If that Indian guy (not me ) is using android phone or PC, he surely is using apps like FaceNiff, Cain & Abel, ANTI, ettercap, DroidSheep, NetCut etc....
So this app should help but it will not work to its full potential as your Sisters phone is not rooted.
Or you can tell her to disable internet or wifi on her phone.
P.S You said the guy used to work for Sprint, Is your Sis using a Sprint Phone?
Is her phone CIQ free?
wloftus had it down.
The only other thing I can think of is he has get password to a security app that can backup pictures and whatnot.
Bottom line is this sounds like a classic harassment case. Get him to text her about this for evidence, go to the police, he gets arrested and the girl is protected by a no contact order. Pretty simple.

I've hope it's obvious that I was joking about the violence as I do think the police should get involved if this guy is harassing her. The implication from the op is that this guy is doing this from a distance so the wifi hot spot does not seem to be the way he is doing it. Since he worked for sprint, he could be using a back door of some sort.

Do any of you know anything about software at all? there is only one way to get into the phone and that is through the bluetooth. Other than that, very unlikely someone IN A MALL COULD DO THAT! there are hundreds of phones. plus, one threat like that to start off is subject to be terminated from any position he is in. HE likely got fired from sprint because he acts like he can do things he has no idea about.
However, 99.9% chance there is NO WAY the stupid small penis indian man can get into her phone. but one fact is that his face needs punched more than a few times... just make sure no one rats you out. make sure there is no one that sees you smash his face in. If the Indian doesn't learn a lesson now he'll just keep playing this game with everyone he walks into. He needs to learn one way or another.
Oh, I'm being nice too. If we were in any other country. he'd just have a bullet through his head.
However, I shouldn't even have said anything about the bluetooth part... but everyone needs to understand.. this is a topic we shouldn't even talk about. the reason is that kids that have no lives will use this information to attempt to find ways to spy on their gf's and stuff because they are low life fools.
anyway, to end this off.. I do thank everyone in here for being valued members of this forum... Remember do things responsibly. Anyone caught in here violating any law or creeping on others should be banned without question and legally should be held responsible for their actions.

well, you can not only go into it via wifi. so my question: do you know anything? (exploits, etc)
if the mall has a open wlan, she should use secure sites only "https://blablabla.com" only... it is possible to hijack traffic, for example in malls "man in the middle method" (do not know why i know this.... )
another way to secure her phone is, to deactivate the installation of unsigned / non-market apps.
also, a password or sth other to unlock isnt a bad idea.
so, have fun - btw, you could ask that question for every android handset, op

But seriously, no sharing WiFi with other people and logging into private bank/Facebook/ other sites where your logged in with 50 other people on open WiFi. That stuff can be picked up, username/passwords.
Intimidation is the best answer...big guy comes up "alright who's the yutz messing with MY sister!"
Saw this article today on BGR about Android security.
http://www.bgr.com/2012/10/15/android-security-fbi-malware-warning/
I understand about using safe apps and will probably try and Anti-Virus software. I love using ROMs and the last part of the article caught my attention about rooting the phone.
Usually we root to install ROMs. Could there be malicious ROM makers who build ROM's that steal information? I know I am being paranoid but could some hacker build a ROM that secretly sent your information to a hidden server? Is there any way people can check if the ROM is safe?
I go on the threads to read about how fast it is, how little space it uses, the modifications, etc but I never read to check up on the safety of the ROM. I am not trying to accuse any ROM makers and I am grateful to the community for having the ability to change our phones. However this article got me thinking about it.
FBI says a lot of things.

The 2 pieces of malware the FBI discovered are from phishing. One ad was for finding wealthy Asian males and the other for something else stupid.
Both require u to install an app on your phone as well. So, if your rooted u can install adaway and not worry about phishing ads in the first place. Second, if your dumb enough to click on ads u deserve a lil ass kicking.
Genius!
A rom maker could feasibly do some pretty bad things. In fact back in the day, when mui was first getting some attention, there were people who wouldn't run it and were convinced the rom was malware, just because it was something new and it was chinese. That of course turned out to false. As long as you know and trust the dev, you should be okay. Especially here on xda, what with the recognized titles, or other sites where a dev has built up a following. I might be a little wary of someone with a low post count and no title posting a rom, but still, the chances of a dev going rogue, and building a rom just to get you to run some piece of malware are pretty slim.
The reason they warn against rooting is more along the lines of preventing malicious apps from getting superuser access, in order to do things they shouldn't.
BGR is an apple biased tech blog and says whatever to put android down. They're like NBC news if you're Republican or Fox News if you're Democrat. Seriously, ran by fan boys

Using common sense when going to websites, viewing emails with links, or downloading and installing apps is the best way to stay safe..
All I need is for your phone to install apps from unknown sources and some clever java script. Doesn't matter if you're rooted or not
You don't need root to browse shady website, download warez and sideload them. I think Apple is paying the FBI.
Yeah I feel safer with Android, I know exactly what my phone is doing 98% of the time. Who knows what kind of 'skynet' stuff is going on behind the scenes at apple. There must be a reason that all of their equipment can only be used by their other equipment (no micro usb cable for instance)

Some guy in Germany or somewhere around there hijacked a bunch of iPhones using a built in remote feature for developers and charged everyone affected (I forgot how much) to release their phones. I believe they had to be jail broken but that still doesn't excuse allowing such a huge security flaw.
Yeah, I remember hearing about that awhile ago.
It's about like the never ending gun control issue. No matter how many people die from guns in "gun-free" zones, they still try to say that guns are dangerous and making a rule that only the good people will obey, and being forced to wait 45 minutes for a cop to show up, who often then shoots the wrong people when he does finally get there, somehow makes people safe from guns.
Being under your own control, and having everyone else under their own control, is always better than giving control over many to a few.
Most people are not bad, so even though it's true that some always are bad, and they will always be a problem, they are always the minority, and so as long as everyone has an equal footing, the bad guys can never win and they will always be a small problem, roughly equal to their percentage of the total population.
It's only when some relatively small group of power-holders convince everyone else to give up their equal footing, that the bad guys have a way to co-opt that unnatural imbalance and take advantage of it for themselves, allowing a few bad guys to harm everyone else.
Anyone who tries to remove fundamental control from you, either has an angle or is incompetent, no matter what good-sounding rationalizations they try to hide the truth in.
In other words, root is just, and the FBI trying to scare you away from root is unjust.

It's like anything, just be sure you know what you are downloading and stay away from shady stuff. If you download cracked apps odds are you're going to get malware, likewise you'll never see me using MIUI on any of my devices.

A rom built in a communist country that regulates all forms of communication and is now the official ROM for a company that has to follow the regulations, I really don't blame you

Sounds like what my neighbor went through but w/his pc. The rouge software directed him that the FBI wanted him to goto walgreens to buy some prepaid $ card/software if he wanted control of his pc again. Different platform, same concept I believe.

When I connected to the colleges wifi this morning I noticed a little message when I used wifi assist, I'm starting not to trust Google anymore or seems like they are shooting on us more and more each day
It's like 15 years ago and we're all suspicious of what they do.
I won't even mention Project Fi, but have you read any of Google's data disclaimers?
Can you not turn it off? It's likely just a Google VPN. They probably decided this is preferable to the alternative of letting average users connect to an open WiFi with SSID "Starbucks" that's actually someone running a WiFi hotspot in their car in the parking lot

I dont mean to turn this into a big discussion but to answer your question, the data has value. In the book 1984 there were "telescreens" everywhere (devices that work as TV & camera. Sound familiar?) The point is there isnt always someone spying on you. BUT there COULD be at any given time. And when people think theyre being watched they generally behave different.
Just another way of looking at it. Because I think most people believe the way you do--theyre not breaking laws so they have nothing to hide. Its a low bar in terms of privacy which should be everyone's right.

I understand, consider Google as data trade off, give and take.
You supply data to improve their services, pedestrian data, locations, etc,
They provide you the same data although compiled and applied, when you open google maps for example, and ask for directions.
The data you provide to them is not "personal" per se, but used to improve general services which every user uses and accesses.
You can always stop it.
I don't feel like this should be a surprise to anyone. Google is Google. Their data collection isn't exactly a secret. It would be naive to think the services they provide don't collect at least some data on you in some form. At the end of the day, I do value and enjoy what they provide me. I personally don't mind trading some of my privacy for it. But I do acknowledge what they are doing and I don't pretend like they're providing all these services for free because they're nice.
"Oooooh, google is monitoring my network activity. Here, let me put my all life in Facebook."
This is old news! A concern might be the intrusive big bro gov cia, nsa, fbi, hs, etc...

I wasnt implying this specific case was grounds for outrage. My concern is people dont fully grasp that information is power and despite that theres a growing attitude of nonchalance . Sure you can turn it off here but you have to care, and to care you need to be informed. I dont mean purposely trading data for access to apps, features or helping to improve services. Thats different.
Id also point to the story (which should've been huge) from just a couple weeks back. Yahoo willingly allowed state sponsored hackers to access millions of user accounts. None of the customers were aware, neither the well informed nor the ones who care. And my biggest grievance with this is its not quite the breaking news it should be. The fact that many would consider me paranoid or a conspiracy theorists because this disturbs me is the most concerning part.
***I dont really mean xda members since they seem to be more knowledgeable about privacy. But the general population isnt really catching up.
Here's a link to what they mean by this message.

The only thing Google collects through Wi-Fi assist is location and ssid/bssid. If you actually researched this stuff you are so worried about you would be a lot more concerned with what your phone carrier does with your data than Google any day of the week...

Well i guess that is true but i've seen a lot of research about google and they collect everything... like the average google phone user, they let google acces to all their information/location... specailly with all those people that keep everything on like GPS. But its the same with Windows or Facebook, all those privacy settings that are by default on. Its all about the money and control over the masses... also for NSA/FBI/CIA very handy.... its not that weird to know that they have access to all those systems if they need to, thats no secret. It's all about if you got nothing to hide... everybody has something to hide. I keep tabs on all my privacy settings of all my apps as far as i can go. I accept certain privacy breaches but thats ok, thats the world we live in and i accept that. The same with people that dont mind all those freaking ads on their phone and websites..... for me mind boggeling. Especially here on xda forum, people that keep everything stock with no adjustments... first thing for me is that adaway has to work....
Here in The Netherlands, we have laws for ISP's and phone carriers, they collect but cant use it for other purposes then for criminal justice orders. Google has no laws to ibide here in Holland, they can collect en use your data unrestricted.

Its a VPN that Google provides on open WIFI Hot spots in order to ensure that your data is not being being intercepted while you're connected to that network. I have project fi and thats one of the benefits of the service, and also because a good portion of the service relies on silently connecting to google approved wifi host spots all over the country. In order to ensure your data is not at risk, because all someone would need to do is create their own wifi hotspot with the unique name that google uses and they could steal info from anyone who happened to connect to their base. As long as they forward you to the internet while the connection is active then you wouldn't even notice there was anything wrong. Google is the most benevolent corporation on the planet. I highly doubt that anyone need worry about any data they collect as I'm sure its all being used for the purposes of trying to provide new technology based on what the consumer wants and at a price that makes you wonder how they are still the top technology company in the world because they surely have to be losing money with the prices they charge for their goods and services.
So you're connecting to an open wifi AP and you're scared about your privacy?
You do know that your connection to the AP is unencrypted and by that fact, people have been spying on you for ages?
That's what I do regularly when I go in hotels and I'm bored because there's nothing on TV.
