Found A Cool New Trick - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

So how many of you guys get group messages from iPhones but cannot see it on your note? I downloaded at&t messages for free and it gave me visual voicemail and the ability to be part of group messages with iPhones. Anyone else trying it out? its free.

I would, but I have a feeling it would render useless after people on iPhone's no longer want to be mocked in group chat

^ This. lmao

At&t messages is really buggy.

Text/spy app

I'm looking for an app I can install on my two teenage daughters phone that will enable me to view their text messages from my phone. And the app would need to be hidden so that they wouldn't be able to see it.
Googling didn't really help aside from links to expensive spying software that's a bit more than I need.

You can use an app that backs up the text messages to a gmail account like SMS Backup+. However if they delete the message before it gets backed up, you won't see it.
You can also have them use the AT&T Messages app. It allows you to look at messages through your PC.
There's an app/service called MobileSpy that records all that stuff to a server that you can log in & view anytime. I used it back when I had a couple people working for me with Blackberrys, but I think it works for Android & other OS's. I can't remember how much it cost but it wasn't cheap.. maybe $30 every quarter or something like that for each device. It recorded sms, calls, some email, gps, etc.. & it worked really well for me..

Kinda creepy. They are teenage girls let them be. You should know.what kind of daughters your raising. You shouldnt need that. If your worried so much take thier phones or block messaging all together... Im just saying not trying to talk mess. And yea i have kids too.

Its a thin line to spy on your daughters, I have two girls three boys, and the girls were the worst.
Seems better to let them get in trouble, and show them the faults. They will hate you for spying o them for a long time.
Yea dude, you can't unread things......
Sometimes it's just better not to know.

Thanks for the app suggestions so far.
As to the parenting disagreement decisions. Well I told my kids from the get go that if they wanted Facebook accts and cell phones with texting I would be checking their texts and their Facebook pages and private messages.
I meet their friends, I meet the parents of their friends if they want to spend the night...in other words, I want to know what's going on in their lives.
I'm not their friend; I'm their parent. I'm more than okay with them thinking I'm over protective. Despite how that sounds, I'm not some overly strict jerk disciplinarian parent.
Anyway, I'd prefer that this thread didn't get into a discussion of parenting opinions. If you don't agree with me, that's cool.

Be careful with this route. I'm not a parent at all. I know someone with parents that have done the same as you. Spying on Facebook and texts. Let's just say that this led to him rebellion and sneaking around the parents back. Doing drugs, going out to the wrong places, and secret Facebook accounts.

I had a girlfriend who was treated that way. She went nuts when she got a little freedom because she was always so sheltered and monitored. The kind of stuff that makes one a star on GGW. With all due respect. No offense meant.
I appreciate the replies and concerns. But a parent doesn't cause a kid to go crazy and rebel and start doing drugs. People choose how they act/react to situations.
I'be always been upfront with my daughters that I will check their texts and Facebook. There's nothing wrong with being monitored.
And they're far from sheltered. They listen to the music they want, wear the clothes they want (within reason), have phones and laptops, go to concerts, comic conventions, play sports, we talk openly about drugs and sex.

Smh ppl are blind, cant read or just dont care! This guy has said it nicely twice that he doesnt want your opinions on hisparenting methods or measures. As a parent you choose your own methods and ways of handling things and also you alone deal with the consequense if any. Im sure he has thought of that. Seems like your guys just want to attack, him, believe me if he daughter are already in there TEENS. He is doing somthin g right to get em this far.

Oh good grief. I'm not sure what the point of your response is or even why you responded. They can't wear mini skirts, can only have ear and nose piercings, can't be alone with a boy unsupervised in a house, and must keep their grades at C's or better if they want dyed hair (my oldest currently has purple with red streaks), and usually are required to be in at 6pm so that we all sit down as a family to eat supper. I can see why they should hate me.
With me getting them to a combination of pom, drivers ed, soccer, private guitar lessons, and the oldests metal band practice we get plenty of time for talks, and they are not afraid to come to me because I'm not quick to anger and I stay non judgemental. I can count on one hand the number of times I've spanked both of them and I haven't even raised my voice to either of them in years.
They most certainly didn't hate me when I surprised them by taking them to Snoop Dogg a few weeks back.
Oh. And just so you know, I have a bachelors in education and a graduate degree in psychology.

[Q] What practical use do you see for S-Voice?

What practical use do you see for S-Voice besides waking up phone & ask for weather?
Let's discuss that here, so we could build our experience of possible use ways of S-Voice for the time when we'll get our hands on the phone
I don't see much practical use except maybe for apple fanboys...
Besides in a car I find voice controls hardly practical and sometimes obnoxious.

It doesn't look very stylish to type silently on your phone while waiting in line at Starbucks. So have a conversation with your phone while you wait in line. The Galaxy S3 is just like an old friend who is ready to strike up a conversation with you. All you have to do is say "Hi Galaxy!"
You can shout obscenity at it while you're pissed off at work. There is a market for anger management apps.
LOL, i thought of real usage suggestions, not laughs

The SGS2 is no fun to talk with because it is just a phone..
But the Galaxy S3 is a different story. She is natural and human. She knows when I sleep. She watches me every moment of the day. She always knows what I want next.
I think it depends what its capable of. Can you ask it to do calculations? can you ask it to create a shopping list? can you ask it to play a certain song? or could you ask it to read out a text message, ask it to call someone.

also really curious of how much it is capable of
The key will be extending it to other apps unlike the POS that is Siri which only works with Apple apps. E.g. Can I use SVoice to send messages or make calls using custom dialed or SMS.
I hope to be a greek version otherwise it is useless for me
I have uninstalled vlingo. Google voice search is handy, when I search for something but don't know how to spell it.
Svoice could be useful while driving in my car to trigger a phone call.

Other then that no use at all. Im from Australia so it probably won't even understand me, I don't care don't want the phone for that may freeze it lol

yes voice apps are useless if they dont understand your own language. i use my phone in english so phone part may not be important but cant have my all frinds have english names to start a voice call
I'm on the road a lot for work, and listen a LOT of music. Driving and scrolling through tracks can be a bit of a hazard sometimes, so I'm really hoping I can just tell my phone to play a track or album and it does it.
That alone would be a selling point for me.

if there is going to be a gps reminder thingy ill be extremely happy. nothing like pulling into walmart and having your phone remind you to get the toilet paper you have desperately been needing for a couple days. it can be quite the cleansing experience.
i am also wondering if they are going to throw in the sheep reference towards apple users. i know its petty, but if i could get the phone to make fun of some of the tree huggers that hang out in starbucks... i might get a laugh and it would make my purchase of the phone all the more worth it.
If it's extensible enough so other apps can use it them it may be really useful. Google Voice hasn't done this. e.g. 'forward this email to my Tennis group and upload all attachments to Dropbox'. Or 'Play TuneIn channel ABC'. Complex voice commands could really be useful. We know Siri is nothing more than a simple keyword recognition engine so I'm hoping Samsung has done something better.
Agree, until we know what its capabilities are there is no way to make a guess at how useful it might be.

[Q] imessage-like app for android?

I did do some research but all imessage topics I found were really old.
So I have a couple of questions. Since my phone died last week, I had to resort back to my iphone 4 (I went from iphone to LGOG). So I was wondering if there an app that will allow me to text an iphone/osx user such as imessage does where they can receive on both devices and then respond to either one. Preferably, it would be my end doing all the work (android) and they (iphone/mac) don't have to do anything, but if there is a little work involved that would be okay. They aren't very technical so don't want to confuse them with complex instructions, just magic. I never realized people actually text through their computer, but since I went back to the iphone I've gotten a lot more responses because people are too lazy to go grab their phone if they leave it across the room.
Also, is there an app that will allow group chats on android, again without needing anyone else to install anything. Whenever I receive a group text on my android it would be separate conversations to each person so i would have to respond individually to each person whereas with the iphone it's just one message and sent to everyone and it's all streamlined very nicely.
If I didn't explain anything well enough just let me know and i'll try to better explain. Also I will be rooting and unlocking my phone, and I'm good for paid or free ways of getting things done.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

I know there is competition. But I don't like being tied to iOS as much as I don't like being tied to android or some other OS. I am a believer in that all the OSes should just work together somehow (perhaps with some fairy dust?) and just be amazing like that. I get that won't ever happen, but sadly I have 0 coding abilities. I was really hoping someone would have figured out a way to defeat the imessage authentications or whatever is stopping android from joining in the fun.

Okay thanks, I'll have to look into handcent. I'm surprised it wasn't a native feature. Is it that uncommon to want a group chat to be it's own thread? And yea...I figured texting to a mac would be a long shot, but thinking about it, I figure something like skype or googlechat would work so might just have to go that route.
Yeah I'm sure any IM client would work just fine for what you need, I didn't even think about that one.

[POLL] Do you find Android MMS to be consistent?

Okay, so this is a question I've been wondering for awhile now. I've done a bit of researching to only notice that a lot of people have been having issues related to group MMS as well as picture MMS and most of the complaints come from Android users... I've been using Android ever since I've owned a smartphone and absolutely love it. I am in no way or shape a fan of any type of Apple products, so I am not here trying to get a rise out of anyone.
Anyway, I partake in several group text messages daily. Between class projects, work, and friends, I usually have a good 3-4 group messages going simultaneously. So I've had the luxury of dealing with this issue first hand. This may have something to do with the fact I have very poor service at my house but I don't think it should be impacting my use of group MMS that much.
I own a Nexus 5 on T-Mobile and use Google Hangouts.
Now, for the issue... It seems about every 5-6 MMS messages, one will appear in the respondents thread rather then the group message itself. It will let me know that there is a MMS ready to be downloaded. So I then proceed to click and download the message. It's very intermittent but on occasions, it will fail to download the message all together. In which case, I will never see that text the person sent unless I ask them specifically what was said. It's really quite annoying...
Granted, 90% of the time, all of the respondents are using an iPhone. And that's where my question comes in... Some have T-Mobile and never ever experience this problem on their iPhone's. My friend who also owns a Nexus 5 and is also part of the group messages says that he has experienced what I've been going through...
I've tried changing my APN settings with no avail. Matter of fact, I changed my APN settings and started getting group messages in this format: <No Subject> What's up guys?
To me, this is absolutely ridiculous. The technology has been around for awhile, so it's hard to see why it hasn't been perfected yet in Android. The other day, I was in a group MMS with 2 other friends. Both of them where chatting but I was only seeing messages from one person... As if he was talking to himself. They both have iPhones. So not only are they not downloading successfully but now I have no way of seeing if anyone even sent anything at all.
I remember being on Verizon with my Droid RAZR and also experienced this same exact issue with group MMS.
Any ideas?

This might seem crazy

I have a question. Does anyone know if there is an app out there that will forward text messages. I think my spouse is cheating on me. I was wondering if there was an app out there that can send me the texts message he gets and the texts messages he send without him knowing about it

I honestly dont think there is such app nor will they ever be.... unless your an FBI agent or something alike that has the tools to intercept messages etc.
And im pretty sure its illegal to do so.
Wait until shes asleep and sneak her phone
Ask to borrow the phone to make a call cause you left yours somewhere or other, if they refuse, there is your answer.

Stop being a prick! Be straight forward and ask her. If you don't dare, then you don't derserve an answer. Don't try to spy on her, since this will break the least bit of trust, that you have in her. Also think the other way around. Would you want her to read ALL of your messages? And yes there ways to spy on hery but this clearly is the wrong forum to ask such questions. So leave it be.
