Reboot into Amon Ra recovery go to the developer menu and install su super user.
Sent From My Optimized Blasting 4GLTE ReZound

tried that
thanks for the prompt reply, I've tried that. I bought the superuser elite before i installed the rom, and I also ran the superuser patch fixer. It does not seem to match up. I fixed the permissions in recovery.
Superuser cannot update, it states that I am not rooted. Once the database is contacted it states there is a permissons error
Is there a way to switch from ra to clockwork?

Uninstal superuser and busybox. Go to amon recovery install superuser from there reboot go to market download one of the busybox installer and update.

If you want change to clockwork recovery go to the clockwork mod website Download from the image from there and flash in fastboot.

Was this issue ever resolved, because I am going through the same thing...Unlocked, rooted, Amon-Ra recovery. And have installed su through recovery, and have uninstalled su, reinstalled it, uninstalled tb and reinstalled, and done the same with bb.
Terminal emulator gives me $ at prompt instead of #...what gives?

tmettler5 are you looking to check your phone if it is rooted?

Someone link OP a SU.zip, I had to do that as Amon RA's root didn't stick for me.
Once I flashed the superuser zip, never had an issue again.

TRY THIS
1)Make sure that htc sync is disabled and try this
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ky4ckwpdqzyw3x1 and put your unlock code.bin file in the tools folder.
Now follow the intructions when you run the program.
2)Install amon ra http://www.mediafire.com/?l9dgzvvsdku7g3c by downloading file and click save as to your android folder on the C drive that you used to unlock the bootloader. Next rename the file recovery. Next go to the HBOOT menu and fastboot usb open cmd and type commands push enter after every command.
cd..
cd..
cd android
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
NOTE THE RECOVERY BOOT USED IS AMON RA 3.14
3) reboot and very important to make a back up.
I think I got everything hope this helps.

On an assumption; If you are running the stock kernel. It is secured, meaning won't allow su in terminal. Either flash the stock unsecured kernel or try a custom rom.
@OP
Is this still a problem for you?

I am using the stock kernel that came with the leaked RUU. I am trying to install su using amon-ra 3.15. If I am reading correctly, if I install a custom rom, that should fix it, right?

Should. Alternatively you could invoke "adb shell" then an "su" command from a PC, if you have ADB setup properly.

Recovery Image Messed Up..Launcher Crash..help please!

My recovery image seems to be messed up since I can't boot into it. My phone will boot but everytime it does ADW crashes over and over not allowing me to do anything. What can I do to go about getting the recovery fixed again and reflashing to try to smooth everything out?
*Edit*.I think I may have thought of a work around. I emailed my self the launcherpro.apk and installed it through gmail. Now I can access my phone. Now I just need to flash a working recovery..
I do appreciate your help though Riley.
You can try downloading ADW Launcher, putting it on your SD card and boot from recovery, then flash the launcher. It is a far shot, but if launcher is the only problem, maybe reflashing it will do the trick.
** EDIT ** My apologies. I misunderstood. I thought you were referring to a corrupted recovery image that you had made of your ROM!
You say you can't boot into recovery/ what's your phone do or say when trying to boo4 in recovery? You may have to push new recovery image via fastboot.

If you have USB debugging turned on you can flash Amon_RA via an adb shell using the flash_image tool - exactly the way the original Eris rooting process worked. With your phone looping, it will run very slowly, but will still succeed.
If you have the S-OFF bootloader installed, you can flash the recovery with fastboot.
I'll have an XDA admin move this thread to the Q&A forum.
Ok guys..I got launcher pro installed so I can actually access my phone now. I attempted to Flash a recovery with Rom Manager and it says it succeeds but it will never boot into it. I do have the bootloader with the "off". Is there a market app or something that can easily flash the recovery? I only ask because I am not at my PC with the android sdk stuff.

If you can't get to a PC to use adb, you could use a root shell in a terminal emulator to flash recovery using flash_image. That's kind of painful/tedious though - almost enough so to make it worth your while to just wait until you get back to your PC.
It is technically feasible to put together a flashable ROM to re-flash the recovery, but I'm not aware of anyone having done so for the Eris.
Oh ok..well I have RA Eris 1.6.2 recovery on my sd card. So I can just flash it via the termninal emulator, right?
** I tried to install via terminal and it says "header is the same, not flashing recovery". Do you think I could install the stock Eris recovery and reflash Amon's?
UPDATE!!: I got a recovery to flash..YAY..thanks guys

are you using "flash_image"? If so, where is it from? To my knowledge (the statically linked version from Amon_RA - /sbin/flash_image) is a pretty simplistic program - it performs no checks, and will let you flash total garbage to any named partition on your phone. (Which is why you should verify the md5 of the recovery image before you flash it, BTW; you can use the AFV app for that)

Revolutionary Users/Devs/Testers

Alright everyone, for those of you having issues to revolution on your Evo 3d and flooding the irc I figured id start this to compile everything.
Things I have noticed.
1. yes after the install your device to attempt a hands free activation, don't freak when is say checking for firmware update,it wont find anything!
2. You may have to do a battery pull after the initial flash/install. On Mine, the recovery did not install! Problem will be worked out im sure, this is a beta AND teamwin has their own recovery going on as well.
[ I have found the reason why the recovery is not installed is simply because clockwork is not support on the shooter yet.Do install a recovery use team wins recovery image and directions which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192077
Here is a simplistic break down on how to do this,I am not responsible for your actions!
Download the .img file found in the thread, make sure you also download the fastboot.exe and place it in the same folder as ADB for easy access. Once that is done, reboot while holding down your power + volume down button!
Fastboot menu will come up,the command you need it
fastboot flash recovery (location of file).img
For me it was fastboot flash recovery C:\Downloads\durka.img yes I renamed it durka because I dont like long names]
3. If you are having issues getting your serial number, connect it to ADB and do adb get-serialno
4. If you cannot get root, you will have to download busybox by stericson on the market. I had to manually sign into my gmail accounts so remember your passes!
[This is wrong,if you do not have root you need to have the teamwin recovery installed and you need to flash the superuser.zip file found on the forums. If you are having issues installing, make sure signature verification is unchecked, then once reboot install busybox]
All apps that I have that require root are working for me, just waiting on a deodexed rom. Even SetCPU is working, but I dont have the custom kernel installed, which could actually be easily doable now!
And I leave the thread to y'all
Well, I can probably help troubleshoot. Rooted and installed teamwin recovery first try. Doing a nandroid backup now.
I can also help people troubleshoot, I am also rooted and have teamwin recovery going!
N e 1 kno how to do this with a mac?
D3VO
Rooted and recoveried on first try. Doing my compressed NAND backup now. (I like the fact that it can be compressed...but it's slow as hell lol)
Yeah, I was a tad concerned at first about the hands-free activation notice, but everything was smooth like buttah... Thank god I remembered my passwords!
My issues:
First try: I got all the way to the part where the phone is taken to hboot and fastboot usb is selected. I was getting a red X for the driver not being installed bc I didn't have HTC Sync installed, so I cancelled revolutionary, rebooted my phone, installed htc sync on my pc, and tried again...
Now, after rebooting both my phone and the pc, I can't get past the initial "Acquiring Root" step.

In the new sdk adb is in platform-tools folder, so here's what I did. I moved fastboot and twrp recovery to platform-tools folder, renamed the recovery image to recovery.img and pressed shift while right clicking on the platform-tools folder and choose open command prompt(or window) here. Then just type flasboot flash recovery recovery.img and press enter. Worked for me.
I see what you did...you have to type "fastboot flash recovery nameofrecoveryhere.img" and it will work. Make sure the recovery image is in the same folder as fastboot.

Can't re-root after RUU

So, what the hell.
Ran the RUU, got back to stock, re-unlocked the bootloader.
Now I tried to run the One-click root, and every single time it fails to install busybox and superuser.
I really (really) don't want to be stuck with temp-root and I don't know what else I can do.
Help?
OneClick doesn't work any more after OTA.
If you don't already have it, flash Amon Ra. If you are going to use an ICS ROM you might want to use v3.10, otherwise use the new v3.14. Flash it in fastboot.
Then once it is flashed go to the devoloper menu of it and install su. You are then rooted.
follow the instructions in my sig

You can grab the latest version in the Amon Ra thread and flash it in fastboot. Fastboot doesn't care about mainver.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339679
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Make sure you type .img or you will get an error.
There's also a PHzip file of it in the thread. Personally I prefer using fastboot rather than using a PHzip file for everything cuz then you have to keep track of what they are, kernel, recovery, etc... and I don't think you can tell what version of whatever it is is in there.
I keep the latest Amon Ra in my adb/fastboot folder so it's always there if I need to flash it.
con also made Awesome Recovery Tool to automate mainver errors if you want to go that route. I've heard it's, well... Awesome!
I had someone give me a .zip to flash that gave me SU because Amon Ra's root wasn't sticking.

[Q] Unlocked with HTCDev - Unable to flash ROM

My phone has been unlocked via HTCDev. I have Hboot 1.02. It is showing 'Unlocked' in purple in the boot screen.
I ran HTC Super Tool V3 options 1 (passed all steps successfully) and 3. I did receive message 'Rooted'.
I have checked if this was correct by typing command 'su' in adb shell. I received message 'permission denied'.
When I try to flash update-cm-7.1.0-Legend-signed.zip from SD card in ROM Manager v5.0.0.6 I get 'An error occurred while attempting to run priviliged commands!'
What do I do wrong?
After root try to open titanium backup then fix permission of su.
Then flash the recovery in fast boot mode.then restart in recovery mode with rom manager. Flash a new rom through recovery

HTC Super Tool says I have root, but it just isn't rooted.
What about using the s-off method to flash CWM?

And then simply install the rom zip from there? No real root is required then.

Install TWRP Failing Through GooManager

I just completed S-off sucesfully and installed goomanger > selected install openrecovery script. It downloaded openrecovery-twrp-2.4.1.0-fireball.img. I than got a pop up saying recovery has been installed. I than selected reboot recovery and got a pop up saying, "by clicking yes, your phone will request root and reboot to recovery. I selected yes, it says "attempting to reboot recovery, if this fails you may want to perform the operation manually". Nothing happens after this, I just get taken back to the goomanger main menu. Am I missing something or does this not work?
Thanks for the help, as I am fairly new to android, just coming over from the iphone 5.

Flash one or the other of the following (but only one):
1. SuperSU (XDA Thread)
2. SuperUser (website)
Installing SuperSU from the Google Play/Market should be easiest.
If that doesn't work, you may need to install the custom recovery via fastboot first.
Once a superuser package is installed, goomanager should work for you.

Could always flash the image manually through fastboot if you have the drivers/knowledge. Rename the recovery to recovery.img and put it in the same folder as the fastboot executable. fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
There's an order of operations that need to be followed. 1) recovery 2) root or ROM.
You can't use an automated recovery installer unless you have root access, and you can't get root access until you flash the su binary or a ROM with su included (which requires a recovery... see the circle?). Thus, the automated installer is not an option for the very first recovery flash. Similarly, the superuser applications on Play require that you have an su binary already... they just manage access to that binary by other applications.
Follow the manual instructions to flash TWRP, they're really quite easy. If you performed S-OFF, you have the fastboot (and adb) binaries already.
Edit: I have updated the instructions in the TWRP post to reflect this. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Also, recovery-tarp-2.4.1.0-inc.img is not the right recovery.
