Hey, this may sound a bit nooby but how do you make a rom? I would like to know what to do and what tools I should use. I want to make the rom for samsung conquer 4g.
Do you have a mac or are you on windows?

If you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be cooking ROMs...

True enough but it is our telephone after all!
We paid for it that gives our the right to brick (or not...).
Personally I would just love to have a valid excuse to explain (to my girlfriend!) why I have to buy a new cellular....
Having said that if anyone knows of any recent URLs for setting up an environment to compile ICS roms (on a linux box if possible) I am also interested.
Many thanks in advance!

I'm on THC ICS 6.1 with Glitch 14B3.
Anyone know how can I configure the lockscreen to add more than just the camera and unlock?

I got a custom lockscreen you can flash for build 6. I will prolly be dropping development for it now that I have AOKP and Gummy and codename running.

Great! If you can post a link to the file, I'd appreciate it.
Also, do mind giving me a brief description of what's needed to customize it myself? Even though I'm a Windows developer and only know a little bit about Android, I know enough to decompile and recompile .apks
Thanks!
I think the mod you're looking for can be found here. I can't really tell you how to do the mod yourself, maybe steve could help you out.

Am I the only guy left who truly busts his ass all day? Wish I could get time to mess with my phone at work... problem seems to be that I'm always too busy working.
Damn houses won't build themselves.

Lol. Hey, sometimes I'm busy too. We have projects & deadlines.
However, I usually have plenty of time to finish my stuff in time so I can do something on the side. Getting bored of writing boring C# programs .. hmm
BTW, I've decompiled the Android.Policy.jar and the Framework-res.apk and compared to the originals ones.
The changes in the Android.Policy.jar are kinda extensive and I don't really understand what they do..
Oh well, I guess I still have lots to learn...
Does anyone know where it is? I think there was also something like a program to help new developers learn etc.
Can someone point me in the correct direction please?
I don't know where the link is but Hello, Android (http://pragprog.com/book/eband3/hello-android) is a fantastic book for newbies to learn android. I recommend the e-book because you get free updates.
Good luck!

Do you really think I am going to pay to learn something like this when there is free resources around somewhere?
If you notice no one else replied to your thread and now I see why.

I was just stating that I am looking for some online resources, sorry if I offended you.
Just wondering if anyone had a jellybean rom i can test. I use a GNEX as my regular device so i have a rezound thats been collecting dust. I would compile it myself but I only have a mac computer and not really up for dual booting. I know that chad doesn't want it released yet and thats not what i'm asking just wanted to check it out. My rezound is SOFF and has been running AOSP ICS just fine just to put it out there. Any takers? PM me. Thanks.
Got what I needed mods you can close thanks.

Nice way to welcome new users.
I actually was wondering the same thing since it looks like the HTC One M8 can apparently run both. I would love to have a good developer phone to look at both OSs, although I wouldn't want to give up my Android OS

Not everyone started as an expert. Therr are genuine people who wanted to learn so give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Other than that if you have less good to say then do not speak at all.
