that's actually a very relevant question that would help shape the answer to the OP's question.
another question for the OP: where do you want to mount the phone in the cockpit?

Yea please let us know make/model, if you have a "luxury car" and want to keep it slick you can't just go out and Buy some universal dock. Under most circum

The brodit device from proclip linked above is what I used in my Audi a6 until I got a new car. Honestly it depends on how luxurious the car is .Even before I upgraded from the Audi that dock sitting next to some cherry wood looked ridiculous. This time around I didn't want to bothered and had the dealership put something more appropriate in the vehicle. Ultimately its your tastes and of course if you by chance have a Porsche Turbo or something of that stature just tell them to custom do a job to your tastes.

If you have to drive it yourself, it's not a luxury car.

Car Mount?

Was wondering if there was a car mount for this bad boy? I know ram makes a good car mount for the ipad, but im not sure if their cradle is adjustable because even though this is 10" i dont think it has the same shape haha..
i been looking at this one Car Mount it's adjustable so it might just work.
I was looking at that one eluminx. It didn't seem to get a good rating. Another one I came across was from the UK amazon site. I haven't looked for it on US site yet. Here's a link... http://www.amazon.co.uk/ULTIMATEADDONS-Mount-Holder-Medion-Netbook/dp/B003CI7Y74

Check mountguys.com, they have one for an android tablet, looks to be adjustable
I plan on using a sheet of Kydex to form around my gtab and canibalizing an old suction mount to mount it on. Then I can get those little adhesive suction discs and affix it once I find the best location.

honestly i think that the gtab in the car would be pretty damn cool to use, however i think it just MIGHT be an obstruction of view if you guys were to get the windshield mounts for the tab, believe you will def get a few tickets for that from the local cops looking to meet 'quotas'. maybe if there was something where you can dock it say where the lighter is or in the middle console somehow but on the windshield prob isnt the best place for it, just my 2 cents

I agree, big time! I plan on mounting mine lower in my work van. I also plan on "fabricating" some sort of recessed dock type enclosure in my truck. I had plans for a carputer but I think a gtab dock would be way more convenient....and way sweeter!
Hoping to tap the knowledge of the guys at this forum. They build some awesome setups here. I know this isn't for the average person, but I am already half way there in my vehicle.

I bought one of these iPad suction cup mounts from some random site on BensBargains.net and use it with a beanbag friction dash mount... on my desk. The setup is just too large and cumbersome to be placed on the dashboard. Not to mention the ball head mechanism never seems to get tight enough to hold the tablet steady when I touch anything on either the extreme left or right of the tab.

I use a generic Micro USB charger in the car, and it works just fine. If you look at the M-USB connector, it looks like /_____\ - make sure the narrower side is facing up when you plug it in to the interface and you'll be good to go.

I picked this up from Best Buy, it's obviously a generic type thing that lots of companies sell under their own brand name since this wasn't cobra or the other brand referenced in that link. I drove around with it all day and for the most part it did well. You have to be careful not to push hard on the sides, it's too similar a motion to the twist you use to remove it. I might modify the brackets on the bottom so that it sits better on them. I only had it fall off once and it's because I was messing with it and then took a hard turn up a steep ramped curb. It bounced to my passenger seat floor. I was trying to dislodge it though so I don't blame it really. I'll try to do some video of it while driving to help others.
I have the official dock from HTC for the Sprint View. It comes with a AC Charger and a USB cable that are identical to those that ship with the tablet. I am unsure what the button does as I didn't see any documentation with the dock. I had to buy the dock and stylus in order to get 25% off the accessories and then a $50 credit to get the pen for free.

Official SGS II Navigation Vehicle Mount

It is very similar in look and feel to the Captivate version (previous phone).
What's in the box?
Mounting Plate backed with 3M tape
Suction cup base arm (identical to Captivate version)
Holder for SGS 2
Cigarette lighter charger
Review: (Updated October 12, 2011)
Audio works through the dock port when enabling it in the Settings [Settings >> Dock Settings >> Enable sound through Dock]
Phone clips in very snug to the holder. Perhaps a little too snug as it's not easy to get the phone out with one hand.
Built in Voice Control is great! "Hi Galaxy" "Text [contact] message 'whoa this is awesome!'"

Here is an alternative to the Samsung car mount that you might consider:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320764561950?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
I have been using this for about a week and am thus far happy with it.
The construction feels a little flimsy but that is by design, I think, since due to its flexibility, it allows for useage with the phone in a case...which was my primary reason for buying it.
It slide locks onto a proprietary disk mount that has adhesive tape on one side for placement on your dash or other flat surface.
One downside is that there is no dedicated audio out connection...you have to use the phone's audio output. But that isn't an issue for me since I connect to my car stereo via bluetooth.
Rotates to landscape and charges the phone through a micro usb connecion at its base

Not weird. People prefer to have the charger cable coming out of the bottom of the phone when in portrait use (usually, the phone is above or at equal level to the charger).
However, they prefer the headphone jack to be at the top, so they don't have to flip the device over when pulling it out of their pocket.

Hi Wounded.
Got the mount this morning. All I can say is, well worth the money. It has a long flexible stem, idea for long dashboards. Twin suction cups. The part where you put your transformer is removeable, leaving just the suction cups and stem in place. Came very well packaged and fast delivery.
I will post some pics tommmorrow. Works very well with Sygic. I plug mine in via 3.5mm jack lead to stereo and wifi tethered to phone.

That would be an issue here in the UK as it is in front of the heater grill and we need that grill for heating here, not air con, lol, thus it would heat up the Eeepad (not good)
Thats a good point about the heaters...but it depends where they are situated. The OP's setup would have the same issue if the vents were in the same spot.

I see what your saying here, and thought about this very issue when initially deciding where to place mine. I have now settled on a pretty central location with the base of the TF just above the display of the stereo. Vision is good, no obstructions. Having used it for a couple of days, I have now gone off the idea of using Sygic for Satnav and have changed to Co-Pilot and to be fair, seems to be working alot better. I was finding Sygic to be slightly behind when driving, not a great deal, but for a picky person like me, it was enough.

ps why do you have your internet speed in your sig? is that high in the USA?
I got this one from ebay here.
I have tried this on most road surfaces: Tarmac, concrete, off road(I mean really bad roads). Not had a moments bother. The dual suction cup works really well. Added bonus of being able to remove the part which you put your TF in and leave the stem still attached. The stem is bendable, but stiff so not to move whilst holding the TF.
Like I said, very happy with it and worth the money imho.

THanks for the reply and link! Can you explain how the mount works, or make a photo of it without the asus in it? because it looks like there is no support on the bottom of the device? and how do you clip it in? Hope you can help me buy one
i don't think I would trust suction cups in general. Back when I had an Ipad 2 I picked up a mount that attached to the car seat. You basically loosen a bolt, and it mounts in between the bolt and the seat, you tighten it back up and that's it! After I picked up my tf I tried it out in my car and it works perfecttly. I guess I can't link yet.. but I found mine at mount guys dot com, but I've seen similar ones elsewhere.

I bought an OSO mount via Amazon after I found the EXO mount on Amazon US. It seems to be the same product. But any of these search terms will pull up a mount that is at least similar to those two. I have mine mounted on the structured plastic dash in the middle of my Smart 451 and it didn't come off yet. And I could only find bery few ratings where people were not satisfied. I got me the mount that comes with something like an extension arm and I'm glad I did. All other mounts on my screen would put the phone too far away to operate and the other mounts that go on the dashbord would place the phone right in the middle of the windscreen and blocking the view. But both, OSO and EXO have different models to chose from.
Thanks Mikegrmn
Looks good.

I'm not in the UK, but, I am using the iBolt dock and love it. It works with the entire Galaxy and Note lines. Here is the link to the Amazon UK site.

I originally bought it for my S4 but am now using it with my Note3 and have docked a S3 for grins to show people.
I'm in the UK. And you're right most of the decent mounts are us made. I only buy the slip grip mounts as they take our phone whilst in a case.
Very good quality and you can buy from them through eBay.

I'd assume so. I didn't try, but from how it holds up on my structured dashboard, a screen shouldn't be a problem. I had tried it on the smoother surface on our kitchen countertop and had problems removing it
The suction cup itself is sticky. This most likely causes that it holds strong on textured surfaces. And the cup is also thicker in material than what I saw on GPS units. The only thing that is, due to the thick material is, that it acts a bit like a suspension damping. So there is a little wiggle room when you touch the device. I'm not sure if it's clear what I want to say, but it doesn't feel like screwed or welded to something. Hope this gets it better across.
