Ok i know there are a bunch of different launchers and battery icons but where can i find them? I'm talking about the ones people use on here, a lot of them aren't on the market. I'll try a few different launchers but as far as the battery in particular i like the one on Macnut10 where its yellow circle with the number in the middle. I'm running the unoffcial froyo jk2 right now so everything is like stock and nothings customized. So if someone could point me in the right direction for both id appreciate it cuz i've looked all over and couldn't find anything.
Read this section... Metamorph is your friend. Some battery mods are flashable zips, those usually include accurate battery fixes. Once you have that you can make a metamorph to use any drawables you want in the framework-res.apk. Remember, always make a nandroid backup.

Dude, if you don't know how to use metamorph or flash a zip, you should not be running something experimental like JK2 froyo, you're gonna end up in a boat load of trouble for lack of knowledge. Metamorph is an app from the market, it really can't get much simpler as long as you're smart enough to only use morphs that are compatible with your ROM, as all ROMs have different specifications and compatability with framework. And you definitely do have time to learn because if your life was incredibly busy and time consuming with endless responsibilities you wouldn't give a **** about how pretty your battery icon looks. So you don't have time to learn anything, don't want to flash, don't want to morph, wtf do you want? An app with a huge button that creates whatever you're imagining? Your battery icon will turn circular if you do the following, download ROM manager and select partition SD card, it will reveal customized framework that is masked by the stock look you see now, it's not yellow though, it's blue.
Yes, I care how my phone looks. The point of this thread is since obviously a lot of people make their own it was for people to kindly post the zips or apks so I can try some out thanks for another un helpful post.

I'm going to go ahead and say it as well.. this belongs in the q&a section. Besides, I think you'd be much better off there seeing as how you already pissed off everyone in this section. Better yet, press the back button and READ the themes and apps section. Although, all the wonderful and simple customizations you seem to be looking for do not exist... You really should have taken the advice on Metamorph you were given instead of childishly assuming there is some magical apk that will make your imaginary "customizations" come to life. Oh well. Good luck with your searching.

Ok I'm not going to even try to defend the original poster as that was all uncalled for but the question is valid. The only metamorphs I've tried on 2.2 has not worked or has made me do a nandroid restore. It'd be nice if I atleast knew how to change the notification bar and the battery icon to something a little different. If anyone has done this successfully with an existing metamorph, please post it, if not for the original poster, then for me. I'd certainly thank you for it. And yes, I know how to use metamorph, but even some of the metamorphs in the themes and apps section don't work with all mods in 2.1, let alone 2.2.
Thanks

oh and I did create a thread in the q/a section but I saw this thread here afterwards and thought I'd chime in. If you would rather answer over there, that certainly is cool with me.
Guys remember this guys username he will be posting in a week or so " HELP ME PLEASE I BRICKED MY PHONE I DON'T KNOW WHAT I DID WRONG " you are a f***ing idiot someone tried to help you and you spit in their face you lazy moron
I often see a lot of uncalled for arrogance and obtuse retorts to noobs who need help where a little understanding would do the trick....this is not one of those instances. You should have your butler mod your phone for you. Freaking ass-chapeau.

Why isnt there a search option in the app? I dont really want to manually search the threads and I dont want to ask things which have already been talked about.

I thought I'd do essential topic for Noobs out there, okay well in here or outside if you're outside.
So these are the essential things you must do after getting your shiny new scratch free powerhouse mobile.
1. Root your mobile
This is essential if you want to learn what your phone can do and believe me it can do loads, I've still not learned everything and already I'm amazed.
2. Download the xda toolkit, I have no link but do a search here. It's like a step by step to rooting and the other things I'll mention.
3. Install directory bind as it will enable you to move some of your apps to your sd micro card if you have bought one and buy one if you haven't it will help.
4. Learn about roms and kernels and visit the developers forum as these are great for modifying your mobile the way you want it, I'm turning mine into a mini entertainment system. It would be great if could modify the other things like the s voice to programme it to say what you wanted it to every time you wanted to do a task and add a sexy woman's voice too.
5. Once you have modified it the way you want and made it your very special friend (okay I'm exaggerating) do a nandroid backup as it will back up the way you have your device and it's quite simple to do.
This is to make sure that if at some point you have to do a factory reset and believe me you will as I had to do one today when this annoying message kept popping up to say something about a Google gapps isn't working so I just gave up and did a full wipe, it doesn't save game sd data but if you've already learned how to use directory bind you won't worry about that.
Oh and install the xda app as it's much easier to to type than using a browser and easier to find your way around this site.
6. Do a search about the things I've talked about as there are step by steps to help you along the way.
I'm sure I've forgotten some things but these are things I've found are essential.
That's all I've learned really so I've run out of numbers.
I'm off now to learn some new things.
Farewell my fellow Noobs.
OP your telling people how YOU like to use your device. All of what you listed is only essential if that's what you want to do. And if you do want to do it, there's guides walking you through all the steps. No need to tell "noobs" what they should be doing. I know users on here that stay stock non-rooted..
OP, I applaud your intent but I am with Coreym on this one.
Any advice to noobs that starts with '1. Root your mobile' is staggeringly misguided and borderline reckless. There are increasing numbers of noobs on this site for whom 'walk in a straight line' would be a challenge.
If you really want to help noobs perhaps your advice would be better rephrased as follows:
Do nothing for now
Read
Keep reading
Read some more
When you think you understand re-read everything to ensure you do understand
Do the thing

Samsungnooby,
Thanks for your well intentioned post.
The posters above you Coreym & Gustopher are right, maybe edit your post with Gustopher suggestions would be sounder advice.
I've had my phone 3 weeks, on the second day I leaned how to root it and I've learned and done everything else.
Found it all pretty straight forward to learn it all and do them, maybe I'm just a quick learner.
Don't know what else there is to learn.
Maybe I'll just take a look around for something else.

closed - we already have a help thread. good intent tho
I don't really know if this is the right place, but this is as general as it gets. I've been messing around with my Xperia U for a while now. Modding ROMS and such. And when I mean modding, I mean very superficial, like just rooting, deleting unwanted files and stuff. I'm also fresh out of high school and I have quite alot of time before I go back.
So, I was hoping to really get to know the android system. It's always intrigued me. Is there a tutorial on creating kernels and developing ROMS?
Also, when you try to port CM for example to a phone. How exactly do you work towards fixing the hardware problems. Whats steps do you exactly do?
Option "Search".

Thanks for the links.
One more question, suppose you're making a port of a rom from one device to another and if some of the components like wi-fi dont work. How do they make it work? Do they have to make drivers from scratch, or they find it from somewhere. I mean, I ask this, if there are no sources made available by the manufacturer.

He is the biggest noob for the amaze in Asia right now.
He needs to read and search, and he should stop making threads and messaging random people for s off and super Cid help.
Sily shubham.
All the answers are on xda or at least in the amaze forums. It is not hard.

Seriously? Search xda, Google. Whatever just search. No one's going to make an effort to help you when you don't make an effort to find it yourself. Be careful though it you set it up wrong your phone might start fussing atoms
For your kind information I had read everything on xda and also use search feature on Google and xda both.
But while searching I got 1 blog ,
I that blog the admin mentioned that if you undervolting or overclocking your device ..
You have a chance to hard brick your device..
That's y I made this thread

You can't change your cpu clock speeds from a stock kernel you have to have a custom kernel since your in stock rom if i were you id stay with stock kernel cuz it's the most stable

You know me, and everyone else were once Noobs.
I don't think you search well enough. There are like a hundred of over clocking threads on xda.
If you wanted to know the optimal settings just check the Faux kernel thread or other kernel threads for the amaze.
Why was that so hard?
When I first got my amaze I had to go through the same stuff as you did, but I used the search tool and got all my answers.
