Happened to me as well... Try installing the stock ROM through ODIN and now try to restore the backup, it always helps for me

Flash other rom , and try to restore the backup.

Just flash a CM7/CM9 based ROM, do a full wipe and restore the backup

Restoring Stock Rom via Nandroid Backup?

I have a Nandroid back up of stock rom, i am now using CM 7.1, how do i restore my stock rom? When i just boot into cwm and restore the back up, it just gets stuck at the boot logo. What do i do? Is there a procedure? Please reply asap
Restore doesn't convert you system partitions to rfs (CM have it in ext4, and stock roms doesn't support it). Flash a mulit-package firmware via ODIN, then flash CWM and restore you backup.
If you want to restore stock rom from cwm backupp use these
Cf root kernel
Ext4 manager
Then when cf root is flashed
Use ext4 manager on stoc rom to convert system to ext4
Then when done make backupp
And
Then it works

Some time ago I converted ext42rfs (by Chris41g for the Epic 4g) for the galaxy ace, I never tested it. Install the zip through CWM.
I repeat, I never tested it, so it might not work.
(no backup) It formats everything to rfs (use this if you are going to restore a backup in cwm) : http://mir.cr/JAVTQDRJ
(backup) It backs up everything, formats to rfs and restores the backup (this is if you are on a stock rom and converted to ext4 and want to return to rfs): http://mir.cr/Q2CNG6JD
Report back if it works please.

Stock rom with stock kernel doesn't , but Stock rom with custom kernel does.

Thats why i said 'cf root kernel'
It supports ext4
Or try in cm7 to convert it to rfs

Now to get CF root kernel, i have to go back to stock rom isnt it?

how to make a realy comlete Backup?

i search for a way, to make a complete backup. Because i will test some other roms.
complete backup mean somthing like the ftf files for Flashtool. a backup from kernel, rom and personal data's in one way with one file or folder that i can restore later.
i think, that this not is possible with Smartphone on, so it must be a way with pc and Smartphone in Flash- or Fastboot mode?
please help!?!

Just make a nandroid backup from your custom recovery .
The problem is, that custom recovery need a installed kernel and there are no way to change the complete software, only the Rom and my data, not the kernel

Could you be any clearer? Kernels are flashable via recovery.
My actual Rom is very stable and smooth with a stockromkernel so I don't want to install the Rom, root it and install cwm to restore my system every time.

[Q] Nandroid Restore issues with Sammy JB

Hi Everyone,
Every time I restore a sammy JB install from recovery it always hangs on the bootscreen and never boots up. I was wondering if anyone has had this issue before or its something that I'm doing wrong
When restoring I always run an odin flash using mobile odin and root it with philz. I then delete all the system folders, wipe cache etc and restore.
If i used a different kernel to backup the install i will install that kernel before restoring.
I've tried several roms such as neatrom, Alliance and Wanam but get the same result. CM/AOSP roms restore ok.
If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Question since you state you using philz kernel why dont you use his CWM to backup and restore your backups instead of Odin mobile.
iT comes as part of the kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270

Thanks for your reply.
I only use mobile odin to flash official firmware so its a fresh start before installing a rom.
I've tried to restore from philz before but had the same problem. Normally use Dorimanx.
I myself had no probles with Mobile odin pro of CWM in Philz kernals and since Philz kernal this tends to be the normal backup or flashing aid for me. Since I have a Micro SD card install back up and roms are place on this..
by the way Im using SuperSUPro and not Superuser for root.

I have a possible solution just flash entire original rom(the one you are going to restore) once, then restore your nandroid backup, clear cache/dalvik, reboot. I have a hunch on the problem that it might be caused by another roms /preload partition data (our nandroid backup won't usually backup it by default so it actually never gets wiped or overwritten)
Edit :I forgot to mention a factory reset at the beginning.

2 questions

Hello
1. To flash kernel? I only need to flash it in recovery? After, or before flashing a new ROM
2. If I made a nandroid backup and I back up system, data and boot..I only need to flash the nandroid? Or each thing by a time?
Thanks in advance.

1. Every Rom has a kernel built-in needed to work, so you need install after flashing a new rom.
2. I don't know for sure, but generally backups group all things. In TWRP you can choose what you will store in a backup, don't know about CWM.
Thanks,to flash ROM only flash the zip?

to install rom just wipe data or factory reset the device and then install the rom (for updates just flash the rom no need to wipe)
in case if you want to install a kernel install it after installing the rom not before installing
if you are using CWM you can backup data, cache, system, boot in case you want to restore just restore the backup no need to do anything else
hope so ive explained clearly
Yes, now it's clear for me, thanks
