S2 hang while listening to music
Glad i found someone else encounter the same issue.
It happened to me as well while on earphone and phone went idling. I am also on S2 I9100G. When this happens, i need to take out the battery too.
I have changed a couple of memory card. From kingston to sandisk.
Nothing works. At first, i thought it was memory card but if like the OP mentioned. It happened to internal memory. It will happen all the time.
I am using the default music player. I notice that the player would not play in background because once you press the phone button. The music player stop.
My next trial would be using the winamps player and not the default player to see if this still happen. Winamp (widget) allows simultaneous running of other thing while listening to music.
Hope someone found a solution for this. It looks like a manufacturer defects. Either hardware or software.

I'm having this issue too, hope it gets fixed

Tried winamps, same thing.
I have tried winamps. Same problem still.
This sucks.

strangr u all using the default smmy headphones???????try a diff one and post the result

I have used different headphones with my s2 but the problem still there!...wht i think when ur using mobile network switch from 3G to 2G e.g, music player get hangs...

Music player problem

Hi, encountered a problem with the music player (stock) not displaying albums. All was fine until today when i opened the player to discover no albums. All are there if storage is selected or browsed through file explorer but non show up in the player.Dont recall doing anything that would cause a problem, they just semed to disapear.Any help would be great TIA.
Job done I removed all the music and copied it all back on again and it popped back up.
Just resetting the medialibrary would have done the same.
I did reset the library several times but it just would not show up. Not had the problem before and not had it since, but the fix worked so all good? Thanx for your input anyways.

Is it the pre-installed?
If it is.... you should try some other ,that could work better.
Maybe its a bug , that will be fixed on the next update.

The problem inst the actual player but the android media scanner, it seems to have problems with large media libraries, deleting and copying the files again does work sometimes but not always, best way to be shure you won't have any problems is to use Power AMP, you can find it in the market, that will never have that problem because it has it's own way of scanning the folders

music stobes in/out in standby mode

I use Player Pro and Power AMP to play my music and whenever the phone goes in standby the music stutters. I bring the screen up and it plays flawlessly.
Running GeeWiz 2.1 w/KGB1127... also running an Audio manager...
I bumped up the profile in SetCPU from 400/100 to 800/100... and still stutters in standby.
This is with both headsets and Bluetooth setups.
Any ideas? thx
it also does this on CM 7.1 stable w/ Glitch v13 kernel...
anyone?
Well... just in case anyone is interested... I've managed to fix this... kinda.
I used SetCPU, and my screen off profile is 400/100 @ 1050mV
I bumped it up to 400/200
music plays almost flawlessly in screen off mode. Thanks for reading.
Was the music constantly skipping or would it play fine for a while, then skip a little bit? This happens to me with google music on MIUI/Glitch, and I haven't been able to figure out if it's an issue with the app itself or something kernel related I could tweak to eliminate the skipping.
I have the same issue as well. I'm using the MIUI 1.12.23 as well as Glitch v13 kernal. Any ways to fix this? I've tried two different MicroSD cards (8GB class 4 and 32GB class 4) and both had the same issue of music skipping when tracks are changing as well as when I wake the phone up from idle state.
I believe it's a kernel issue. it skipped badly on CM7 and glitch... MIUI is kinda the same i guess. I believe it's tied into the battery drain issue with Wifi, bluetooth, and auto sync on CM7.1. I tried the nightly v112, and still a little drain. had to manually turn off all switches or my battery would be dead in the morning. This "glitch" is the same as whats making the music skip... something is pulling power from the cpu and away from the music player.
I fixed it a little bit... i mean, yeah, it skiped and stopped and wasn't playing right, but i had to bump up the bottom number on my cpu voltage from 100Hz default to 200Hz
This helps... but it still skips a little, but not nearly as bad as before.
i'm running GeeWiz ROM now, which doesn't have the battery drain issue, and it seems to lesson the issue.
mine is a temp fix
Hm, I don't use bluetooth and am not always on wifi, I do have some things set to sync though but still experience the skipping. I also have already tried bumping the minimum frequency up to 200mhz and it didn't seem to make and appreciable difference. Although I'm not sure what it's related to, I'm not 100% that it isn't just the google music app when streaming, but my incredible seemed to play music skip-free in the same situations. I haven't yet tried playing locally stored music to see if the issue's still there.
I'm thinking of maybe trying changing the screenstate scaling settings for the kernel, but wish I knew where the issue stemmed from. Any kernel related adjustments haven't fixed the problem so far.
I don't know what it was but the problem is fixed for me. But I had to do a lot of things to get it working. I went back to stock EH03 Gingerbread. Then flashed to GeeWiz 2.4.2 ...then flashed KGB 1127 Kernel and then flashed the recommended LOGCAT fix. After that I updated all of my apps from the market that I could. Got rid of all the apps that suck major cpu usage like Facebook and PowerAmp music player. I switched to PlayerPro music player... Then I used Titanium backup to uninstall all stock music players...
I'm pretty noob at this so I wasn't sure if uninstalling stock apps would work but its good to go. I uninstalled the stock pic gallery as well... All is well... Plays music flawlessly now.
So idk if it was any or all I did but it worked. Seems like it was either apps stealing power or switch bugs in the other roms. But I'm loving GeeWiz 2.4.2 w/KGB 1127 Kernel with the Logcat fix.
Like I said... I'm noob at this so when in doubt... Start over.
Hope that helps.

I forgot to mention that I updated my recovery to CWM3 Voodoo Blue... That I believe was a smart move. GeeWee recivery is fine, but hard to root with... And CWM recovery.all which is 2.5 something has always been flakey for me. I think i'm pretty content finally. Lots of flashing... Ugh

I updated the radio to EC09 and tried different SD cards but got the same issue. I flashed back to stock and flashed KANG version of CM7. Both the stock music player and PowerAMP don't skip when I change tracks or wake the phone up from sleep. Has anyone tried the latest version of MIUI (2.1.6)? Do music tracks skip when changing tracks or waking from sleep?
Can anybody recommend another kernal to use with 2.1.6 MIUI rom that remedies the issue with music skipping?
What class SD cards are you guys using? I have no problems but I use a class 10 card. When I asked my wife how her fully stock Fascinate player works, she had complaints much like yours. I put my SD card in her phone and it played for 2 hours without issue. Her card is the one that came with the phone, a class 2. She also showed me video recording had problems which were also resolved with the class 10 card.
Now I need to know how to get my card back from her - lol.
I don't really keep music on my SD card, I stream it using google music and that's where the skipping happens for me so it's not the SD card. It does it even when the song is fully buffered, so it's not necessarily a connection/data issue either. It's like the music player isn't properly kept in the foreground and the music skips while the phone is "thinking" - doing other things in the background.

[Q] Stock Music Player Problem

Hi all,
I just bought Samsung Galaxy s2 last week... the problem is whenever I used headphones to listen songs, after like 10-30 secs the stock music gets hanged! and the screen does'nt came on. Every time this happens I have to remove the battery and insert back. Other then this problem the phone is perfect!
Any solutions guys??
My first suggestion is to go into settings / applications / all and clear data / cache for the music app. If that fails maybe a factory reset will solve the problem. Alternatively download a third part music app from the play store.

as you said....i clear the cache and factory reset the phone the problem is still there what to do now???
Please advise

Music just keeps stoping

Hi guys
Getting fed up every time I try to play my music it keeps stopping and I have to keep restarting the music.
I do not have my phone rooted at all.
Does anyone know why it's happening.
Thanks for any help guys

I have this problem as well, I figured it was because all my music was on a Class 2 SD card and the player would stop if the next file didn't load quick enough.
It only plays so much of the song then stops.
But I installed TSF launcher and played the music with no problems at all hmmmmm.
So what's going on?
Sent from my GT-I9300
yes i've experienced that random stop in previous XXALEF.
and no it's not because of the microsd card because i have a class 6 not class 2 as mentioned here. and i've used this microsd full of mp3s in my previous phones.
never experienced it again on XXALF6.
I'm on XXALF2
like I said my phone is not rooted at all.

Did you try a different music player?
Not yet will give it a try
Sent from my GT-I9300
Likely you are experiencing this due to low RAM. If you installed a new launcher and it works fine then the Touchwiz launcher probably uses a lot of RAM causing music to stop.

That just can't be... Proof is here:

I've only ever had this in the past using faulty headphones. Maybe not related to your issue though but never know.

Given up using my phone for music because of this, all music players gave me issues whilst browsing, just listen to the radio now. Crap. I'd try a reboot though, helped me shirt term.
You can always try on another rom (with more RAM free). Or try other headphones just in case
I have had this on a few occasions with the default player .What i discovered was a message flashed up (not persistent notification so probably missed it before) saying no track exists or track not found. Cant recall exactly the message but looking into it realised some tracks were in different formats so basically player couldn't read them so instead of moving to next shuffled track player just stops.
Other thing is some of my music files are in bit of a mess due to importing to SD cards ,phones etc using various apps and methods few wav Flac aac in the mix to.
So just an idea to check your music files with a file manger see everything is in order and which formats though i think default player is meant to play most formats.
Personally i mostly use Poweramp have for few years on devices, like the default player but cant scrobble and prefer widget with no background
I'd say this is a problem with the software. I have had this problem as well. Samsung will need to look into this for sure. If my music gets interrupted at all, i have to kill the process and start it again. I'm not sure if the problem lies in communication between BT, aux jack or what.
Maybe its due to the motion control..Go to settings>Motion>Go to "Turn over to mute/pause" option> Turn it off> Might solve the problem, Not sure!:silly:
Also try turning off "Palm touch to mute/pause" option in "Settings>Motion" itself

Interesting, think you maybe on to something with that palm touch thing, after all I've taken loads of screenshots in my pocket..
After upgrading my phone to ZSALF1 (hong kong bought), this seems to have fixed the problem with the music starting.
Incidentally, I also turned off the motion to capture the screen as I also had taken screenshots in my pocket. Annoying.
Cheers

Sound stopped working on my Slimrom

Hi guys,
Sounds and ringtones have suddenly stopped working. Didnt do anything nor did the phone fell or something. :S
Another issue when i try to play any media file, it wont play, it just stops and never plays. I can move along the timeline of music file but it wont play i.e. it remains paused but indicator stays along the timeline e.g. 3 minute song, i press play button, it stays on 00:00, then when i move slider to say 1:50, it goes there but nothing happens, just stays on 1:50. App does not crash. Same in video files.
Even system sound files are not playing, so i cannot receive any sound notifications from call or messages.
I've tried with handsfree too, nothing :s
Thanks!

Try to clear the cache in system settings music and clear the app data and cache hope it works

If that doesn't work, fresh flash with full wipe might.
???
Did a full wipe reflash...still problem persists.
I do not think its necessarily a hardware problem because it just wont play media files. As I said, all music and video files are on auto-pause... no matter what i do, i can slide on timeline, but they just remain paused.
Flash a different rom and use a different music/video player.
Tried and tried...exact same issue.
System sounds wont play (when msg or call)
Media files, music and videos remain in 'pause' state, tho I can drag to forward and rewind but they wont play, they'll remain paused and if i do it alot, app whatever it be, crashed. Exactly same problem in youtube in browser as well.

I see you must still be trying to figure out this issue. If reflashing doesn't fix it, it must be a hardware issue.
I am Jack's smirking revenge.
Dont think this is a hardware issue.
I came to this exact same issue in op after odin to stock through sticky, rooting it, flashing cm7 and then flashing slim.
Now no matter what backup i restore the sound doesnt work!
Problem with recovery? Odin tar ? Need help.
