Did u try usb?
Or micro sd adapter
You need to use clockworkmod to install a new ROM and do backup. Download it and install it then install the ROM via recovery mode.
You may use the following or similar to install CWM

Hi,
I've just tried to update my i9300 for the first time to CM11 from CM10 since I need 4.4 to run the new Google Camera and Chrome Desktop.
Unfortunately upon downloading the update via the system menu and rebooting my phone, it just goes to CLockwork Recovery... is there anyway of fixing this please? Preferably without wiping all of my data too because I have Google Authenticator on there and it isn't backed up :S
Thanks
(edit) Also I can't turn off my phone... argh - anyone know how to stop my battery from draining before it dies in CMR? Thanks
Download CM11 M5 it's the most stable and backup everything with titanium backup
If you can't boot to the ROM do nandroid backup then do fresh ROM install
After installation use Nadroid Manager app to extract your apps from Nandroid backup you've made after the new ROM boots up

Thank you, so just to clarify download this: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/jenkins/64374/cm-11-20140405-SNAPSHOT-M5-i9300.zip
Plug my phone into the PC and transfer across the file
Then in Clockwork go install zip from SD card?
Thanks again
Sorry, when I plug in my phone it doesn't show under my computer... is there anything I have to change in ClockworkMod REcovery?
Hm, managed to plug in an external micro SD card, but it says
Error in cm-11-2014005-SNAPSHOT-M5-i9300.zip (Status 7) Installation aborted
?
You need to update CWM to lasted version
Update ur cwm recovery and try to reboot again, if it still doesn't work then do wat the others said.

Thanks both, I managed to sort it in the end by going back to CM10.2 and then installing CM11 via the official installer
Just curious, how do I update CWM? Is there any easy way of doing that?
Thanks

Just download the newest version of cwm and flash it like a normal zip.

odin is not recognising Galaxy s2.what can I do? I nead to install a custom rom because my stock rom is damaged and recovery is not reading external SD.
Did you update usb drivers? If not, download them from the Samsung web site. Which OS are you using?
Did you try another USB cable or another USB port? And also the drivers.

You can either use an adapter to transfer a rom from your computer to your external sd card, and put in in your phone afterwards for installing/flashing through recovery, or you can connect your phone to computer while in download mode and install a rom through Odin

Need help to unbrick my tab. Here's what happed.
My tab wont boot, stucked at Samsung logo. everything is wiped out. Data was formatted, no more backup files and flashable roms saved. But the good news is, I can still enter recovery which is a twrp 2.8.3.0 and in download mode.
Heres what I've done so far:
1St try:
Tried to connect tab to a Windows 7 x64 and install the tab driver but tab was not recognized by Odin. Tried using sideload with twrp still the tab won't be recognized.
On Windows, I can see Samsung adb on device manager.
2nd try:
Using Linux. Tab is not recognized in lsusb.
So I'm stuck. Don't know what to do next.
1. Is there a way to use adb while on Recovery?
Bump.
Anybody? @decatf does your twrp can detect OTG USB? Thanks
Best bet is to flash back an official stock Rom through Odin and Download mode. The latest one thrown out by Samsung is an ICS Rom.
But we don't know what Rom were you using. If it was a Lollipop, I'm not sure this can be done, sorry.

Yes it was lollipop. And my twrp version is 2.8.3.0.
Tried already 2 pc, but still it was not detected. Windows and Linux.
Hi everyone,
I've been searching how to boot in sd card for a week and tired and hopeless. I stumbled up here.
I know there are custom roms out there (TWRP, CWM)but my problem is I don't have access to usb cable to connect odin since my port was busted and the technician wasn't able to repair it. It only charged but no data data...
The problem is the android OS was corrupted. I can only access the recovery mode and I have tried to reset factory settings but with no success. I just need to know if I can boot on SD card alone to install an OS or install TWRP or CWM recovery without any sort of cable. Thanks...

Get someone with your same device and is rooted to pull a debrick.img from their device using terminal emulator app and have them upload it for you.
Then follow these instructions in the link below using the debrick file you get from them, ignore the device files linked in the thread, you only want the PC tools from the thread, then using your debrick.img follow the instructions.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581166
You will see the instructions mention debrick.bin and debrick.img, they are the same thing, when you see it say one of these it it is talking about the debrick file you get from whoever helps you if they pull a copy for you. Use that file when it mentions doing something with either .bin.or .img.
After you get the device booted there are instructions to return your sdcard to normal use.
