[Q] Best App2SD Application To Use With Xperia Mini - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hi All ,
I will buy Xperia Mini to use it as second device with my Desire HD...
After a lot of searching and comparing devices found that the best device at that price is the Xperia Mini comparing to HTC Explorer , Samsung Galaxy Fit\Gio\Mini but only the biggest problem is the small internal memory that will not handle a lot of applications
So my question is What Is The Best App2SD Application To Use With Xperia Mini ?
Using AppMonster Pro at my Desire HD but just for monitoring my apps and remove them but i already know that it can move apps to SD card so is it OK to use it with Xperia Mini ??
Thanks a lot and waiting for Mini users to help me with that issue
Have a nice time all

just root it and use link2sd..and for me 320 mb is not small internal memory..

Dear akshay13071990 ,
Having about 1.25GB at my Desire HD as internal memory for apps and games makes me never worry about memory so i feel that 300MB is small space
What's the different between Link2SD and any other App2SD application ??? Sorry For That But Never Used Link2SD Before

i think app2sd just move app that has permission to move to sd on other hand link2sd moves all apps to sd card except google apps(maps, you-tube, Facebook)..i am having tons of games and apps installed on my mini..and there is more than half of internal memory is left..but link2sd requires root..

i use link2sd for my mini pro and i have never ever complain about low internel memory anymore.
it needs to partition your sd card and it is really simple and i recommend it. 500mb for the second partition s enough for me and i can have like more than 500 apps and games on my mini pro.
you can download as much as apps and games your heart desire with link2sd

u mean to recover your pasword? i dont know bout that. maybe try to memorize it harder?
if you want to remove your forgotten password and start it fresh.
just do the factory data reset. it is equivalent to flashing a new stock rom = brand new phone

LOL! how can i perform a factory reset while i can't event open the menu cuz of the password !!!
when booting the device it will ask u for the password , u don't know it and can't reset the phone ! the solution at most android phones is recovery or bootloader screen then do wipe or factory reset but i can't access that menu in Xperia Mini

Same here ive been using the macnut 2.2 rom and it scans my external sd but not the internal. It scans and stays stuck at 0, I just went into Settings/application/manageapps/ running apps and force stop media storage.
That doesnt solve the problem because my music on my sd will not show up in media player. But I can browse my external/internal sd cards with astro. Im still on r8 and didnt want to update until I know this is solved.

its not solved, and its worse i cant see either memory card with astro but if i plug in a usb cable, take the back off, take out my external memory, unplug the usb cable and plug it back in, it will bring back my internal memory but only temporary no 2.2 for me

I tried that also without any luck,
try this, plug in your usb cable
take the back off your phone
take out your external sd card
unplug the usb cable
plug back in the usb cable and
put your external sd card back in
i have gotten that to work a few times but its on temporary, i dont know whats wrong, i flashed back to the 2.1 fusion rom and my phone see;s my internal memory just fine.
downloaded odin, flashed back to stock, applied root
used odin again to flash eugenes new odin image
and my phone STILL cannot see my internal memory, i say just forget it at this point, we must be the only two, or else the boards would be lighting up.
tried every 2.2 build out there, come on i know im not the only one with this problem
I am having the same problem.. I've tried flashing back to stock 2.1 multiple times and now I'm bricked. I'm about to try Eugene's Froyo that does not brick.
possible work around, it worked for me everytime
power your phone off, remove the back and take out the external sd card
power the phone back on without it and it mounts the internal memory. weird
Hello there, you guys are not the only one with this issue and I see it as a serious one. Let me ask, are you seeing the USB connected indicator when you are not plugged into anything? Do you need to plug in the charger and see the battery icon before powering on? when you turn on the phone, does it show USB connected even if it's not, in addition, you cannot save things to the SD card. WHen you unblug the cable, the charging indicator stays on for a while after. In my experience, since Halloweeen (oooooohh!) my phone died while on the charger over night, coudln't start without plug in and now it's almost unusable. Different ROMS and kernels haven't helped. Not sure if it's hardware or software at this point.

Want to install CM7 , should i get 2 SD card or just one ? I am on 1.4.1

Since i am on 1.4.1 , i couldnt able to root via .apk installation method , which is blocked on 1.4.1
Today i am going to purchase a microSD card to root and install CM7 or CM9 (anything other than stock ROM). Many tutorials i read says that i have to format the SD card to make it as bootable Rooter or something. My question is
- Do i need 2 SD cards , one to root and another as external storage ?
- Or 1 is enough to root and install , then later reformat it to use it as external storage for nook ?
- Which method / tutorial should i follow ? CM7 threads says to look at rooting and CMW installation threads . But these thread are little confusing me on SD card part.
Can anyone give an idea on how to proceed ? Again i am on 1.4.1 , unrooted , STOCK ROM and dont have a microSD card yet , going to buy today , so how much should i buy or 1 is enough to get me on CM7
Need urgent reply , as i am leaving to buy stuffs
I think there's only one micro sd port, so you'll only want to get one micro sd. There's no reason to get two. Just get the largest one you can buy. That's what I did. 32GB micro sd with CM7 installed. Afterward you'll need to run a partition program to resize the last partition to use up the entire space of the card. I ran into a little issue with that with windows partition program and have to boot ubuntu and run gparted.
I've rooted, booted in recovery, stored apps and media, flashed different mods and roms, and booted another NT into recovery all from the same 32gb card. Hope that answers your question. i personally wouldn't go with anything less than 16gb of space just due to the fact that anything else seems a bit of a waste of the sd card slot. IMO not the law
One sd card is sufficient for rooting the device. It really depends on how you want to root it now, internally (so you can use the internal memory but lose stock os) or bootable sd card (easier to revert but everything will be stored on the sd card)
Thanks for all the reply. Had some work come up , so didnt find time.
anyway got a 8GB card, is that enough ? i am not planning to watch movies on it.
I am planning to give this nook to my brother later , so i dont want to mess up with the stock OS. Can i root/install cm7 right from the SD card itself ? and if i remove , will the stock OS be intact ?
Also please let me know how to revert (once rooted/installed and if it did change the internal stock OS) back to stock OS.
With SD card , can i skip the registration process of stock OS ? recently i restored to factory setting , and i dont want it to update OTA to 1.4.1 and above if i am again going to go through the process . the device has not been turned on for a while.
help me here guys

You should make a CM7 SD card, directions can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481826
This way, when you put the SD card in and boot up, you will boot into CM7.
When you take the SD card out and boot up, you will boot into the untouched Barnes and Noble stock ROM.

After you write the .img to your card and after you extend the last partition of your SD card, you should have about 5.5GB for user data storage.
I don't believe you have to register your NT.
To be on the safe side, I would definitely recommend that you use an SD adapter when writing the image, but you should be able to do it when the card is inside of your NT, but mounted on your computer.

Alright, come back if you run into any problems.
I am just downloading the image file.
Planning to skip the registration process with that trick and load the sd card > connect it to system and burn the image on the SD card.
Hope it works
I skipped the registration process and inserted the SD card and currently running the disk imager to write that image file to h: (SD CARD)
hope i am doing it right.
It worked !!!!!
here is the storage details :
SD CARD
total : 1.3GB
Avail :1.3GB
Internal :
Total : 1.3
Avail : 1.17
Additional storage : /system
unvailable
Additional Storage : mnt/storage
Unvailable
Additional storage : /mnt/media
T : 1GB
A : 1GB
ok how to extend the partition now ? Also is there anything i should remember regarding these mnt/storage and /media ? I mean moving apps , stuffs like that ?
Okay, so the 4th partition is the only partition you want to change. If running Windows, download and install either:
Minitool Partition Wizard: http://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html
OR
EASEUS Partition Master: http://www.partition-tool.com/download.htm
Doesn't matter which, they're basically the same software.
Mount the SD card and remember the letter drive for your SD card (very important!)
You should see 4 partitions on your SD card drive, followed by unallocated space. Select the 4th partition and choose Move/Resize. From here you should be able to extend that partition to consume the rest of the unallocated space.
Now, double check to make sure the changes you made to your SD card are correct. When you are satisfied, hit Apply, and wait for the changes to take place.
When it's finished close to software and mount the SD card on your NT and check the storage settings again to make sure you are able to use the rest of your space.
As you know , i have been using nook to mount the SD card. Will this work with my setting ?
also when i try to mount this is what it shows

Open up one of the partitioning softwares and make sure your J: Drive has 4 partitions on it. If not, then you'll need to mount your SD card on the PC with an adapter or card reader.

i cant figure it out. I mounted and it is showing this . And J: is shown as BAD DISK
may be i should use an adapter.. or am i doing something wrong ?

meanwhile , is there any way i can install B&N reader ? i am outside of U.S .
The Nook app is available in the Play Store.
If you mean the Barnes and Noble stock reading app, I believe you can extract the app from the stock ROM. The app is simply called Reader, and should be listed in /system/app.

[Q] Help please!

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 8GB. With only 4GB of actual space, I needed more. I bought a mini-sd card today. I tried to partition it to move app data, but nothing worked. I reformatted the sd card in my tablet and then tried to put it in my pc. Nothing happened except the "external disk found" notification in the task bar. When I clicked it to see the sd card, nothing showed. Screenshot here:

My tablet still reads it perfectly. I tried using the "Format" option on the tablet over and over. When I try it with my pc, nothing happens except that. No drive letter, no notification other than what is shown in the screenshot. I tried about twenty recovery programs and not one could see the sd card. Minitool Partition can see it, but calls it a bad disk and will not allow me to use any operations (cannot delete partition, create, edit). I don't want to buy another sd card so soon. Can ANYONE help me with this?

You should probably read a bit and do some googling.
Burn the iso to a cd, make sure your bios is set to boot from optical drive, and it should boot fine.

If its not working you could try formatting it in a camera, or using a Linux distro like Ubuntu. They have gparted built in.

The website says that I must run Gparted in the SD-card partition first, which I cannot do. Can't even read the sd card correctly.
What?!?
You download the gparted iso.
Put a CD into your PC
Right click on the iso and burn it to the disc
Put the SD card into your PC
Reboot your PC
Gparted should boot. If not make sure your bios boot sequence boots optical drive first
In gparted your SD card should appear
Format it. MAKE SURE U DONT FORMAT YOUR HARD DRIVE
If gparted doesn't see the card, its probably damaged to a point where no software can fix it, and you will have to buy a new one.

[TUTORIAL][GUIDE] Get Apps to SD Card L9

This is obviously the most frustrating thing that we all want to do on the L9 (I have the P769 v20h T-Mobile ROOTED). This should work on all L9's. After tons of research I finally figured out a working method through multiple threads. There's methods with DirectoryBind and BusyBox scripts to mount but those were honestly confusing to me and I didn't understand how to operate those.
First off your phone MUST BE ROOTED. If your phone is not rooted here is a thread that will explain to you how to root, the software is chinese but I promise you it works.
Required Items:
Rooted L9
SD Card
Steps:
1.) I repeat you MUST be rooted
2.) Backup your SD cards files on your computer because you will be formatting the SD card.
3.) We must partition the SD Card into two parts. You can do this by downloading any SD card partitioner app but I used AParted.
3a.) Before you can do anything in the "Aparted" app you have to unmount your SD card. You can do this by going to your system settings. Then go to "Storage" then down at the bottom you will see "Unmount SD Card". Click that.
3b.) Now go into AParted. Click on the "TOOLS" tab at the top. You should only have one partition called "Part 1". Checkmark Part 1 and choose delete down at the bottom.
3c.) You now have a completely formatted SD card.
4.) Create TWO FAT32 partitions by going to the "TOOLS" tab at the top. The first partition is considered your SD card so this is where you would store personal pictures and music, etc from your computer. The second partition is where all the apps and apps data will be moved to. So make sure you appropriately size your partitions. Since I keep a fair sum of music I have a 8GB SD card and made the first partition 1.5GB and used the remaining space for Partition 2.
4a.) To make the partition click checkmark part 1 then click create. Under File System choose "Fat32". Make sure to only use whatever space you will need to store music, etc... Do this by changing the "Size" 1000 is equal to a gigabyte. So if you have a 4GB SD card then you can make this first partition 1500 or 2000 (1.5GB or 2GB) but you have to leave space. Now Click ok.
4b.) Now to make partition 2. Checkmark "Part 2" and click create. Under the file system choose "fat32" again. This time dont change the size, just use the remaining space that it shows and click ok.

5.)Now download the app called "Link2SD"
6.) Once you open the app it will scan a list of all your apps.
View attachment 2306959
7.) BE CAREFUL with which apps you choose to move, I would say limit yourself to only moving the apps you've downloaded such as ESPN, Netflix, Games, etc...
8.) Choose the program you want to move to your SD card, I chose Cut the Rope.
9.) Click the "Create Link" button
10.) Make sure all three options are check-marked (Link Application Files, Link Dalvik-cache Files, Link Library Files)
11.) It will finish and you can proceed to link any apps you desire to the SD card, you can go into your system apps and see how much free space is available so you know it worked. You can see on mine I have much more than 339MB used.
If this helped please give thanks

I respect your opinion, but the reason I did not mention LGPwn was because on the newest firmware update on the T-Mobile version of the P769 which is v20h (released September 13 I think) the LGPwn method no longer works and the Chinese software was the only root method that worked with v20h.
This looks pretty legit hopefully this works. Ive been trying everything to free up some space on this phone.
Weird. LGPwn worked on v20h for me. There are a few different models of P769s out there.

I'm having some troubles here im doing doing what you are saying and nothing seems to work. Can you please tell me what to do more specifically because i feel like you are missing some parts.
So i have my phone rooted with LGpwn and ofcourse i tried it and it didn't work says like "Failure..."
So how do i go about to root with the chinese software do i have to unroot my L9 and how do i do that?

Where is the problem occurring? The main part I'm missing in here is how to delete the partition. You have to unmount the SD card before you can perform any deletion of the partition.

I feel like the same issue for you is the mounting. I'll edit my main post and add those steps. You have to go to settings>storage>SD card> Unmount SD Card. Then you goto the Aparted app and goto the tools tab to delete everything on your SD card. Then you create the two partitions with the free space

Of course. I'm glad too help. Be careful with games like CSR Racing which is like 200MB where they download extra files because it looks like those extra files don't link to the SD card. I'm working on figuring it out though.

LGPwn only roots. It doesn't do anything regarding putting apps on sd card. Follow the instructions in the OP and you should be fine.

Yeah, just wanted you to clarify that all it does is root. It isn't an alternative for this process of getting apps on your sd.
Dumb question... Since I'm dearly new in this. Will getting that extra space on phone improve its performance?

Question
Why would you use 2 fat 32 partitions as opposed to making an ext3 or ext4 and linking like you would do on a lower end phone?

Not likely. Depending on the class of your sd card it could even slightly negatively impact your apps that are loaded on the sd card. It's worth any nominal change in speed to be able to get the apps to the SD card as otherwise this phone is definitely handcuffed by a small internal storage limit.
I actually tried ext4 and after I partitioned the phone wouldn't even read my SD.
Also I tried to use link2SD with a second fat32 but link2sd said it didn't support my phone. Is it cause I rooted with lgpwn?

How to back up SD card files on computer? Any program or software to do the back up? Thanks.

[SM-T825/T820] Re-Activate adoptable storage

Hello together,
due to the fact that samsung is ennoying us with low memory on their galaxy devices and the new political decision to remove the adoptable storage function from android, I wanted to fix this.
I have tried different ways like using XPOSED FRAMEWORK including the OBB2SD or the XINTERNAL SD modul. All this ways work, but all of that need many manually doings (copy files ...) at the end of installations.
Because I am a lazy person, I searched for a configuration that makes it easy and more automatical and I found it:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/patch-adoptable-storage-enabler-t3460478
How to / my installation process:
- Install TWRP like refered in a other thread
- Root your device if wanted with SuperSU 2.82 (stable) ---> Directdownload
- Install adoptable_storage_enabler_ashyx
- Install no-verity-no-encrypt_ashyx (think not needed, but I try to stay save)
- Reboot device and have a look at the notification bar, a popup "new sd card detected"

}
- Follow the introductions after clicking on the notification and format your "new" sd card as internal storage.
- After formating you are done and your sd card will be used as internal storage --> application will be installed automatically on the sd card decided by the system algorithm
- Optional: Move/Migrate existing data via "Settings ---> Device maintenance ---> Storage ---> Storage Settings (three dots) ---> SD card ---> Migrate Data (three dots)"

I have several quick questions:
1. Do you have a rooted SM-T820?
2. Did you format a your SD Card as portable, then removed it from your SM-T820 prior to installing the patch?
3. Have you noticed any performance, reliability, or lock ups?
4. Did you install TWRP from the Play store?
Thanks in advance!

1. No, SM-T825 but the binaries are quite the same and different user in web say it is working on SM-T820.
2. I applied patch (think you mean the samsung -ota- update) before I formated SD Card as internal. Portable is the card at factory "design" and with portable you do not really share the space with the tablet storage and you are not able to install on SD card at adaptoble storage way.
3. The performance in games and apps is the same like from the internal tablet storage loading. Import thing is you will use fast cards (class10, u1, u3, a1). No reliability or lock up issues (from KNOX, ...)
4. I did not install TWRP from Playstore, I used TWRP from asyhx.
Well, my SM-T820 is now stuck at the flashing white Samsung logo. I've tried flashing TWRP using Odin again, then installing the adoptable_storage_enabler_ashyx, but no go. My SM-T820 is bricked now.
Do you have any ideas on resurrecting it?
Thanks,
Borsheck
Sounds not like a "softbrick" coming from adoptable storage script. Sounds like the brick I got with flashing magisk for root and xposed for magisk.
Did you root your device and with which root kit?
Did you installed the no-verity-no-encrypt_ashyx script?
Just to say, on me it works only SuperSU 2.82 (stable) ---> Directdownload
How did you flash with ODIN? Only AP or all files (exclude HOME_CSC)?
If nothing works, you can unbrick your tablet with Samsung "Smart Switch" or "KIES". Both worked on my device.
Get the stock firmware and flash it with odin.

Thanks a ton for this. It worked great! Only thing I noticed is that after flashing the mod and then DMverity, I didn't get a prompt about a new SD. So just went to Settings --> Storage and formatted and then it asked me if I wanted to format as Internal and it worked perfect. Just for a heads up if any don't get the prompt.
Thanks, worked great for me. The reported storage is off, though, is that normal?
Will this storage become unusable when the device software is updated?

No.
So the adoptable storage won't be made inaccessible by a software update from Samsung?
If a system update turns off adoptable storage will the data be accessible in other ways?

Once your data partition and sdcard are formatted as adoptable it stays that way until you reformat the sdcard.
Wonderful. Thank you for your help and all the work you did finding and developing the workaround.
So I installed TWRP and followed the instructions in this thread which let me make the sd card adoptable storage. I then checked to see if normal software updates would be allowed "OTA". It refused to check for software updates and prompted me to reinstall the operating system with Smart Switch. I refreshed the device with smart switch and the previously working adoptable storage sd card became unavailable without a format as portable storage. So the format of the SD card did stay the same but the device refuses to read it on stock software.

Probably something to do with switching back to stock recovery. Afaik, you need stock system+recovery and I think one other to do OTA on any Android version or device. So when you tried to OTA and it didn't work it's because you had a modified recovery. SD being treated as internal and switching from stock recovery to custom probably broke something the system needed.

Did it wipe your data partition (internal storage)?
You should have simply updated with ODIN. That should maintain the adoptable storage.
The adoptable storage patch modifies system files which means OTA's won't work.
It didn't work for me after flashing, but the adb method used for s7 edge worked perfect

I got to twrp hit keep and adjust files at first boot up prior to install, installed adoptable storage and got some red errors. Do I need to click the 2 boxes about signature and reboot prior to install? After that got the softbrick. Then I tried to add the dm verity....no change, then restored in Odin. Then did same thing but did dm verity first......softbrick. I did not root it. Can adoptable file be corrupt?

No, pilot error.
After flashing the dmverity patch FORMAT, I'll say that again just for clarity, FORMAT the data partition.
And just one more time in case it isn't clear enough for anyone else....FORMAT the DATA partition.
Format, OK so where in steps does this take place. As after I installed it was the bootloop. 1st time twrp user
Hello,
I have tried to use this method on my Galaxy Tab S3 (SM-T820) using the latest Update (Security Patch 01/01/18) and it dosen't work. Maybe I did something wrong.
I tried with and without rooting using SuperSU as well as using TWRP with Read Only and Read rights. I only managed to wreck my Tablet three times in a row
If anyone can help me I would be glad.
