[Q] Nook tablet: Bricked? - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Hi I have the nook tablet 16 gb. I recently modified the build.prop to spoof it as a Droid 3. I also installed the Eris Market Fix.apk after that. Now the tablet won't start up. It just hangs on a black screen after showing the first 2 loading screens. Is there anything I can do to get it to book back up or restore to factory settings? I've tried doing a factory refresh, as well as the 1.40 sd card (acclaim )method
Thanks! Help would be greatly appreciated.

Make an erase-deregister. But it betterfor you to have CWM eather internal or booting from sdcard once you boot into CWM wipe data, advanced> wipe dalvik cache, reboot system.
WARNING: Do not format other partitions . It is safe to wipe data, cache, dalvik cache and even system but nothing else.

How do I do the erase-deregister? I tried the Reset Factory settings, but that didn't work.
Would Adam Outler's [Unbrick] Ubuntu recovery work for resetting to Stock? I've already flashed it onto an SD card. Should I still do the CWM method instead?

Yes you can use that one but since your issue seems to be caused by an app then wiping data should fix it. If you want try the CWM first wipe data, advanced >> wipe dalvik cache and then reboot system. If it works it will boot normally if don't then use Adam Outler's unbrick image.

I've tried Adam's [Unbrick Method] and using CWM to wipe the Dalvik Cache.
After reboot, both still hang on a backlit black screen after the initial nook loading screens. Should I try booting a ROM through CWM instead?
When making the CWM SD card, I didn't create the 50 mb partition. I just left it as one big 16 gb chunk. Would that affect it?

if it indeed booted CWM from sdcard then the partition size you gave shouldn't be a problem. Try reflashing a new ROM fresh install.

I was able to flash CM7 onto it and get it working!
Thank you so much for the help, lavero.burgos/Veronica

[Q] Unable to flash mik_os 6.5.2

I am currently using mik_os 6.5(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354) and Clockwork Mod recovery. I tried to install 6.5.2 on top of it (wiping cache and dalvik cache) but it gets stuck on the lg logo. After going through the first post, I even formatted /system but that didn't help either.
Finally, I flashed 6.5 and it is working fine. Any pointers would be helpful.
1) mounts and storage/ wipe cache
2) mounts and storage/ wipe system
3) wipe cache partition
4) wipe data or factory reset
5) install zip from sd card
And blowww!! You have 6.5.2 flashed ;-)

Boot into clockwork recovery.
go to backup and restore -create a backup of your current rom (Note:If already backup has been done then avoid this step, backup created using amonra or thunderg wont support restoring using clockwork)
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
mount and storage-format system
mount and storage-mount usb storage (make sure usb debugging is enabled)
copy the rom zip file to the root of your sd card
unmount
install zip from sd card-choose the rom zip and install
flashing takes 3-5 min
reboot!
just remeber to backup all ur app using titanium and restore after a fresh install and whnever u update no need to wipe anything just flash over the old version until unless mention by the dev
I didn't want to do a factory reset, however; I still went for it after doing a nandroid backup.
I followed all the steps mentioned by sshbz, but it still got stuck at the boot logo (the one with website address written).
Finally, thanks to the Nandroid backup, I reverted back to 6.5 without having to go through titanium restore.
For 6.5.2, the rom link is given in post 1 and mik_os had also posted a fix for clockword mod users.
I have tried the below
1. Install only the rom
2. Install rom and then the fix
Neither worked. I think I would have to wait for the next update now unless someone can make this work for me.

[Q] Wipe Dalvik Cache Problem???

Hello, I am using ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0
when I wipe my Dalvik Cache i get:
E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext] <--- This part concerns me...
Dalvik Cache wiped
Reflash recovery?
what should I do?
[edit]
*On that Note I was thinking, there are tons of random folders that have accumulated and aren't deleted when I flash new roms. is there a particular method to completely wipe everything on my phone? both internal and sd?
Anybody at all know what's going on?
This is just a guess but it probably has something to do with how CWM reads the storage partitions (sdcard and emmc) and how it is presented in the Atrix as sdcard and sdcard-ext. Which Rom are you using?
As far as deleting everything, you can go to [Settings - Storage] and you should see options to format internal and external storage, which will delete everything on the storage partitions and then you use CWM to wipe cache/dalvik cache/userdata(reset).

Have you tried updating CWM through RomManager or try romracer's recovery?

Whats the proper way to WIPE & What do you use??

Front to Back or Back to Front & Toilet Paper or Wet Wipes? Just Kidding!
When wiping via Factory Reset in TWRP what is the best way to insure everything is getting fully wiped except our external SD card. After I did a factory reset there was still everything on the internal sd card. Do any of you use the superwipe.zip?
What Procedures do you follow when switching Roms?

Factory reset wipes /data and /cache
after Factory reset, wipe System and you should be good to go on a new or fresh installation from zip. i dont think wiping boot is necessary but you can. so do
Factory Reset
System
Boot
Dalvik-cache is in /data so you dont have to wipe that.

Thanks for the help... I just don't understand why I have the following on my phone.
Sdcard - I understand that this is internal.
Sdcard2
Sd-ext.
Both the sdcard2 and Sd-ext have the same files on them, it has my music, some apk files, and my flash zip files. Now my poweramp player shows duplicate albums for all of my music stored on my external sd.
Any ideas

Sd-ext is or was the best way to move apps to the sd card. But with the new OS it isn't required if the app is made right

I factory reset twice, wipe dalvik twice and wipe system twice. I don't wipe cache since the factory reset does it.
Now that it was clarified dalvik is wiped with the factory reset I'll probably stop doing that. I just wish it clarified it since it specifically indicates the cache was wiped.

[Q] Format internal sd

Hello
I recently rooted and flashed LiquidSmooth onto my SG3 I747M and i would like to get rid of all the junk on my internal harddrive. I was wondering what the procedure would be to wipe my internal harddrive (So i do not have any random folders or old app files) on TWRP without losing my custom rom and root. Would i have to save the backup (just incase), custom rom and root on my sd card and just install it right after I wipe my harddrive?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
Thank you!
Wipe cache and go to /system/app and /data/app and delete unwanted apps. That should be enough.

boot into twrp, go to the wipe menu, and wipe everysingle thing. Then reflash your rom. That will wipe everything, and reinstall liquid smooth.
Doing this wont brick your phone or make you lose root.

Thank you! This is exactly what i was looking for. What would i be wiping though? Obviously Cache, Dalvik and Factory Reset but do i have to wipe System, Internal storage and format data? (What does format data do)?

yeah wipe everything including system, and internal storage. format data formats the data partition of the phone, which is also necessary.
The only thing you dont have to wipe is your external sd card (if you even have one). Press thanks if i helped.

Question about deleting partitions and boot

Hi!
- I have LG G2 mini D620r with stock 5.0.2 Android. Phone has unlocked bootloader, is rooted and TWRP 3.0.2 recovery is flashed.
Few days ago I installed CM13 just to try it and then returned to stock OS. Before flashing custom ROM i used to wipe dalvik, system, data and cache partitions. Now my question is what would happen if I add interal memory partition to list of 4 aforementioned partitions? I know that it would delete all the data in internal memory (and that's what I want to do, because I want my phone to be like it was before it was used for the first time), but would it be able to boot up to OS? I don't won't to flash a kdz file or something like that.
- Also, I can't seem to enter recovery through button combination. I tried all combinations I could find on the internet. When holding volume down + power button for a few seconds i gat an option to hard reset the phone. Only way to get into TWRP is to use QuickBoot app. Anyone having any ideas what could I do?
Triggering a hard reset with a custom recovery installed boots into that recovery.
Wiping internal memory will wipe everything under /sdcard. Not the external one. The built-in one.
To do a complete factory reset, in recovery choose /data and format it as ext4. Don't simply wipe it, or it will leave everything under /sdcard there, while a format will delete them.

Well you just keep on helping!
Thanks.
Just to be clear these are the steps:
TWRP> Wipe> Advanced Wipe> select partitions: Dalvik, Data, Internal Storage, Cache, System
After that I go to:
TWRP> Wipe> Format Data> type yes
Is that correct procedure?
After all this has been done will my phone boot up to stock Android 5.0.2 or would I have to flash some kdz or custom ROM?
Where can I find option to format /data partition as ext4?
1. Yes your steps are correct.
2. Your phone will not boot up to Android because you don't have ANYTHING on your phone. You just wiped the rom that was running on it. There are a few threads that have flashable stock Android that you can use. Worst case scenario you can always flash kdz. HERE under Custom Rom>lollipop you will see links to [stock] zips.
3. Pretty sure formatting data will format it by default to ext4.
