Hi everyone.
I am fairly new to android phone although we have a android haipad m7. I have been searching and reading and exploring all sorts of forums, and i can say one thing, or two, about the sgs2: very nice. Although the phone is rooted, for what i still dont know, i have never ever, and i mean never, had any issues: no bootloop, no camera out of focus issues, no pixel issues on the display, etc. Maybe this is because i dont flash (yet) all sorts of diff. kernels and roms; maybe i am just lucky to a phone that WORKS. Im now converting all my electronic gadgets to samsung: starting with my laptop...
Good to know.

hello guys, at the moment i own an apple iphone 4 jailbroken, and i had some issues with the device's hardware since 2 years ago, so im thinking of selling it and get a new phone, BUT i DONT want to go at apple again, so 4S is not an option for me.
i searched a bit and im interested into Samsung Galaxy S III
about its hardware is a top end phone atm, but im a bit feared about the Android os because ive heard some bad things from friends users of lower end android phones. so im refering at you guys who own and use SGS3 with normal and rooted os to advice me about its stability over time and usage on apps
So my final question is, SGS3 with Android 4.0.4 ICS stock or rooted, did you have any problems with it? laggs on menus/apps over time of usage or crashes or reboots etc?
Cause with iphone 4 and ios jailbroken i had it for 2 years and i never encountered a single error or crash and never had to format it to stock firmware due to problem except when i was updating versions of ios.
thank you for your time guys
i look forward your replys to talk about it and find a conclusion

Hi,
I was in the exactly same position as you a few weeks ago.
My last phone was an iphone 4, too, and like you, I did not want to have an apple product anymore. So I went with the GS3 and I love it!
I have it rooted and installed a lot of stuff, works like a charm though!
Only problem I encountered is that I cannot install anything right now, keep having a bug with the app market... This is very uncomfortable, but I guess stuff like this happens. I might need to restore my phone to bypass this problem. But this is not limited to the GS3, it's a problem with android.
Otherwise Android is a high improvement compared to the iOS. I can now literally do anything I want. The Galaxy S3 runs smoothly, the battery usage is good in my opinion and it has a lot of power for complex programs.

Hello Guys,
I currently have the GS2 and I'm thinking of getting the GS3 but I want a "developmental" review. I say this because there are several reviews on the GS3 but what I really want to know is if it can be hacked, you know customs roms, recovery, etc. I was a bit unfortunate that the GS2 was my first android device and there were so many custom roms, mods, etc that I thought that all android devices were like that. Then I bought the lenovo thinkpad tablet without investigating properly and it was immensely frustrating for me as the bootloader is locked and it took MONTHS to get even get root on that device. You can imagine someone who has a GS2 and flashes any rom he likes and any mod he likes and then having a underperforming stock tablet. So please does the S3 have any bootloader issues, bricking issues, can recoveries be flashed without any problems, etc. Thanks
developmental review: 10/10
The S3, like the S2 and S1, is great for modifying, all extremely similar processes.

I recently brought the Galaxy S2 from Straight Talk. And, I thought that it was on ICS already. But, its still running GB. I've been flashing, and testing roms on the sly for a while for my previous phones. HTC Droid Eris, HTC Evo 4G Design, Motorola Defy. And, I know there are different models of certain phones. I hadn't realized until I purchased the phone, and looked at the model number that it was different from the mainstream S2 models. I figured that it wouldn't be a factor since in my mind. Just about all S2 no matter the model number are the same. I was wrong.
In my search for anything about this model. I have came to many consumers who brought this phone that was looking for custom roms. That there aren't any custom roms for it, or CWM Recovery. And, we're stuck with this great phone, and crap stock. I know myself, and many people who own this phone either is just sticking with stock, or on the hunt.
So as the topic of this forum thread indicates. Is any devs going to port over CWM or some Roms for this model? If there is can anyone steer me to it.
Hi, I just wanna know if the current development scene here for the SGSII is still active.
It's because I plan on buying a secondhand one (regarding my choice of purchase, I'm still a college student, therefore I don't have the cash for a SGSIII, etc and am perfectly fine with the SGSII).
But before I go on with it, I want to know if development here is still great, how much have things changed (eg., have most of the top developers for the SGSII gone to other phones) and until when do you think the development here will be still active.
Thank you.
You could answer your own question easily by vising the dev sections.
Answer is yes its still very active and we have new roms and updates generally every day.
You just go to the roms and look at the dates of the version releases.
yes dev still actif even on old galaxy s i9000 section because there is always new android 4.1.2
and galaxy s2 at android 4.1.2 xxlsj with many mods is great are crazy man for me galaxy s2 is still the best
Well that's good to hear. Yeah, I checked the dev section, but I just wanted to make sure that it's genuine development I was seeing (not just duplicate roms, merely changed apks, etc).
Thanks guys!
On MetroPCS, when strongly recommended to upgrade to a GSM capable phone, traded it in for a Galaxy Light. I have since switched to T-Mobile and borrowed a friend's old phone until my ebay bought S5 comes in later this week. Meaning, i now have a locked Galaxy Light useful as a toy or wifi phone (which i don't care much about). Right now, i'm just using it as an alarm clock.
I want to get rid of all the MetroPCS stuff, have a toy to play stuff on, and use for Android development (learning java right now). I also want to get more comfortable with rooting and custom roms before i attempt anything so drastic on my S5. A little searching found LightWave. Is there a list of (custom) ROMs available for the Galaxy Light, and what each one is (purportedly) best for? I apologize. I am a little confused about the forum structure here on xda. Though, this definitely seems like the place to be.
