i am new with android and i want to root my ST15i. i learned that i need to be .42 or .58 to root with doomlords toolkit(i understood that part). but since i updated my ST15i to .62, that's why i am confused a bit. and i also have a question, if i downgrade to .42 or.58 then root it and upgrade again to .62 so my .62 gonna be rooted?
so can any one point me to a, a-z ST15i rooting guide for dummies?
sorry for my bad english. peace out!!!

SuperOneClick is for rooting and it uses same exploit as DoomLord's program for Xperia phones, so it won't help.

Hi guys,
I Just want to inform you that yesterday I updated my Xperia neo and got 2.3.4 build 4.0.2.A.0.62.
Does anybody know what are changes since previous build?
Using 4.0.2.A.0.62 I can not root using DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su,
So becareful, you may need to wait until some solution for rooting is found.
Is It Available For Neo V Too ... Cant Find In My Region.. Will Wait Till There Is Any Solution For Rooting
Which region are you in?
Screenshot of about phone?
Edit:

I have rooted 4.0.2.A.0.62.
First I flashed InteksV15 kernel. After I used DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.
it's working
But after it will be running on Inteks kernel. You may need to extract original one from 4.0.2.A.0.62
and reflash it.

Thanks for the method will give a go today ......
I have my neo rooted with locked bootloader and 0.42 firmware.
If I upgrade to 0.62 ,I supposed it won't be rooted any more.
Right?
Any way to root it again with locked bootloader?

I can get the update, but I have an unlocked bootloader so I used flashtool. But I had a conversation with @SonyEricssonNL, and it turned out I have a scandinavian SI number.
I think you can just use flashtool to flash the ftf, also non-rooted.

im currently on .42 fw and im not happy with it.
sometimes my wireless connection lost when downloading big files over than 50mb and sometimes while i surf the market. and when im playing games, it uses to not lag when im on .58 and .62 but on .42 for some reason it laggs.

yes no problem. You have to check the boxes for "wipe data/cache/(dalvik)".
But why do you want do downgrade?
I want to root my device but i afraid if downgrading fw make the device hardbrick.... Just like that for now

ah okay, I think you have not an unlocked bootloader.
Then you truly need .42 .
flash the tft with flashtools.
root with zergrush and cwm with se tweak(er)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350
worked perfect in my case. Have done it last week a hundred times (falty rom)
Thanks i will try it ;-)

2.3.6??
Now I don't know how you got that! I think 2.3.4 is latest for Neo and Neo V
But I don't find a reason for you not bein able to root !

You can also use flashtool to root your device! There's an icon in shape of a lock!
Click that once you install flashtool and drivers!
For how to :
Read sticky threads in Neo V development forum!

AFAIK...62 firmware couldn't be rooted via doomlord's method or zergrush method.
For that he will have to downgrade to .42...root it via doomlord's method...install recovery and then upgrade to .62....correct me if i am wrong bcoz by the time .62 was released, i had unlocked the bootloader already...and used custom roms.

I.think its better to unlock Bootloade with testpoint method, ant flash Moded kernel.
I have rooted my Neo V while on ICS and I think the script only doesnt work for the 4.0.4 Kernel.
I have rooted it this way:
Update to newest version 4.0.4
flash 4.1.A Kernel with Flashtool
root with the DoomLord script
flash 4.1.B Kernel back
If you are still on Android 2.3.x I think you can use the script and uptade after it with flashtool.

what do you mean by the same? i've read somewhere that some version of ftf has bug like b.1.10, mine was originally b.1.10 and it become b.1.54 after i root.

All ftf files for a particular firmware are the same. I'm not familiar with P rooting procedures but I believe its not a bug.
