Voice Talk Won't Open - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I'm wondering if I accidentally deleted one of the delete-able stock apps that is needed to support Voice Talk. For some reason it doesn't open anymore. It will go to a black screen for a few seconds and then cut back to the app drawer. Is it possible that I did something wrong here? Just the stock OS and everything.

I am also seeing this exact same problem. It's only when invoking voice talk from the app icon. I can still launch it successfully from a widget or double home. Did u ever resolve this?

[Q] Google Voice Search issues

Hello All,
I searched for any related posts and could not locate any reference to my problem. I would greatly appreciate any input.
One of my favorite features on my old EVO 4G was the voice search for navigation. I could give it very limited information and it found places, products, etc like nobody's business.
I upgraded to the EVO 4G LTE today and it came with Google Voice Search installed. First I could not even locate the app. When searching at Google Play for the app I am made aware that it is already installed. There does not appear to be an update option at this point.
Firstly I would like to find a better way to locate, paste to the home page or launch the app (once I get it to work that is). Secondly and most important when I launch the app through what is discovered on Google Play the microphone page appears but then the app locks up.
I have also tried just the Navigation app and when I speak directions it seems to take the input fine, but the results are seriously random and for the most part quite irrelevant.
I have played with the settings and the maps apps seems to have my location pegged pretty good.
Any thoughts on getting better results or instructions on removing the factory install of Google voice search or updating it?
If it makes a difference all testing has been done on WiFi from my home network.
Thanks for any input you might have.
I havent tested mine at length but my google maps speak destination function works just as well as it did on my Evo. The voice function of the search app works also, but it does take a second to be ready for voice input. As for removing the factory installs of both of those apps, you would need at least root to be able to delete them, and there is a mod for rooted users to flash to the stock rom or ViperROM that will get rid of the bottom menu bar and map the recent apps to home long press and menu to the recent apps softkey, OR it can do the same without getting rid of the menu bar. I think there is also a variant of the mod that also maps voice search to recent apps long press, but don't quote me on that. Either way, for right now it seems the only way to try and solve the problems you have is to either root it, wait it out, or return the phone and see if a new one works better.

[Q] Please help turn off popups with lollipop

Hello,
I am on a paging notification system that needs to wake me as it usually goes off at 2 or 4 AM. I set my sound for a long loud song that will wake even me should it go off. However I get a popup with lollipop of the text message. This popup stops the MP3 from playing the moment it comes up. When I clear the popup the song continues which does me no good.
How do I disable the popup.
In the setting for the system you are using is there a disablbe popup box. What app afe you using
Hello,
I'm using google Messenger for texting but even if I uninstall it and use the default android Messaging, I still get the same pop up. Under Messaging (default texting app - no others installed yet) = Notifications - all boxes are unchecked and I still get the popup. I'm pretty sure this is only since Lollipop (official from Verizon).
I didnt have that prob when i used it. Go to your app manager and go thru the running apps an see if there is anything that u didnt install running in the background if not there then check all apps it maybe some bloatware hidden in your apps

So you have lollipop installed and when you receive texts you don't get the popup?
Exactly and make sure popup is disable in the notification settings for your msg
You are correct! It was dragon causing the issue!
Coo was it something you downloaded or did it download on it own

I installed the latest dragon right after getting Lollipop. I was really hoping voice dial would be more accurate with lollipop but it is just as bad as before. Dragon is about 90% accurate whereas voice dial via android native is at best 60% accurate for me. Strangely voice command on my old MS Windows 6? about a decade was more accurate than dragon IMHO. FYI I'm not from another country and I don't have a southern twang or a lisp. Android voice dial and the lack of customization for incoming texts by person are its two biggest weaknesses as far as my needs go.

Use OK google from any app

Would it be possible to use OK google from any app? Maybe have it be some kind of overlay?
Reason I'm asking is because I would like to create a magic mirror and control it using voice commands.
For example I'd like to have a home screen show weather, date, time, etc and then say "Ok google, play song", then somehow be able to return back to the home screen or go directly to a different app/widget?
Does anyone have any suggestions?

quick question for anyone still around

It's been like 5 days since I was able to say ok Google with screen off, call ( name here) and the phone would unlock and dial the number, regardless if it was a contact or not.
Now I say ok Google call ( name here) and either the assistant will not respond after opening to make the call, or it goes open and it shows example,
Call circles pizzeria
But it never makes the call.
Now if I using my fingerprint to unlock the device, say ok Google call circles pizzeria, it will make the call.
Want to note, this is not a contact. Also don't matter if it's a contact or not. I've showed 2 examples of ok Google getting "stuck" on the commands.
I've factory reset the device. I'm thinking this has to be on Google's end. Just want to know if anyone else is affected.
So 19 views, and no one quick tested their own device? Gee thanks....

I don't use Assistant at all (in fact I struggle to keep it disabled on my phone, and Google tries to enable it all the time). So I am one those views, but unfortunately have no experience.
Which OS version are you on? That might affect the results of others who try it.
Does it matter if you're in a Smart Lock situation (Trusted location, Trusted BT device etc)?
Just tested mine. My Google Home took the initiative of making the call, and gave me some tips on my first call that way. This was while my phone was in my hand, too, so I'm not sure why the GH took over, but whatever. In the end, it did dial out... or try to, before I told it to hang up.
Not exactly your situation, so I didn't respond. Mine has nothing to do with unlocking the screen, as I keep my screen unlocked and on Navigation app while driving.
But here's my story...
_________
A few months ago, new Google app update stopped Google Assistant from making the daily phone calls to my wife when I'm coming home from work. (I never know what time I can leave.)
"OK, Google, call (my wife's name)"
Normally automatically dials via Bluetooth through Google Voice.
This time nada, repeatedly -- from trying to show me search results, to not responding at all.
Even tried "OK, Google, call my wife" (instead of her name). Google Assistant: "Who is your wife?" (She's listed in Contacts as my wife, besides her full name.)
Suddenly Google Assistant wasn't performing as previously and also had amnesia.
This happened two days in a row. I had to manually hit a pinned dialer screen shortcut to call my wife while driving home. (Which is technically against the law now in Georgia, touching your phone while driving.)
So, I reverted back to the previous Google app version (downloaded through APK Mirror) -- which does exactly what I need -- and refuse to let it auto update in Google Play Store. I also have Titanium Backup of that specific version on hold, in case Google accidentally updates somehow.
I know I'm now a few months behind in app versions, but I don't have time to mess with trouble shooting. If the version I have works, I'm keeping it.
_______
I have half a dozen apps I also keep from auto updating for similar reasons.
For instance, because of newly imposed Google rules about a year ago, an long time app called My Data Manager has to put an icon on the left side status bar to show it's technically running in the background. On previous versions you could disable that stupid icon or "badge" in the app settings. It's a neat app, because I can merely swipe down and at the bottom of my notifications, there's a pinned box that shows my current data usage. And it's quite accurate. Every time I compare it to my carrier's report of my data usage it's within a few MB.
But I do NOT want to see a CONSTANT icon on my left side status bar for that app. So, I reverted to older version before the Google rules change and it works EXACTLY the way I wish. I unticked "auto update". I've done that for my phone, my wife's and my mom's.
________
I just finished working one month straight, with no days off. Feb 15 - March 13, often 12-14 hour days. In one two week stretch, I worked over 160 hours (4 weeks of work, crammed into 2 weeks.)
So, I'm not putting up with any crap from my phone.
If new app version breaks something, I'm reverting to previous app version and preventing it from updating. At some unknown point in time, if I want to test they've finally fixed what they broke, I will do that when I have free time. Other than that, I need my daily phone to work, period.

What version of the G app are you on?
Also on EdXposed, or regular Xposed grab sudohide.
You can hide any app from play store.

Question S22+ phone pop up

I just switched from the lg g7 to the s22+
On my old lg I could go to another screen when on a call and get a little floating pop-up with call time and other info about the call.
Now I know I can get a small call when pop-up if I answer the phone while in another app, but it's stationary and I can't move it around the screen.
The Google phone app on the play store has a little bubble pop-up, but free actual app itself is annoying.
Does anyone know of an app or a Tasker profile that can accomplish this? I've searched around but can't find anything specific so I figured I'd ask here
