[Q] does custom kernel effect charge time? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Kernel is 2.6.36.3 root @ DELL85 #1 and task 14 rom. Overnight charge only gets me to 70%. Wondering if updating kernel will make a difference. I just installed task 14 after a full wipe and format of "in Paris 5"
Thanks

You can flash pershoot's kernel, Best thing I came across for the tablet.

im assuming you mean the JK6 modem....
you MUST use ClockworkMod Recovery to flash anything....
download the JK6 modem from the Team Whiskey website....put the zip on the root of your sd card....reboot into recovery and select install zip from sd card...
i doubt if that will fix your charging problem...
The charge problem only happens about once a day. I pull the battery for about 10 mins then its fine. I'm not sure about the kernel thing.
My phone reads Firmware version - 2.2 Baseband version T959UVJK6 Kernel version 2.6.32.9 Build number FROYO.UVJK6
Is there a place I can learn more basic information about these mean?
I really have no knowledge about kernels, basebands or builds but know enough to look on here to understand how to use CWM to flash to what I thought was the stock froyo rom.
I like it and the only prob is that it makes me nervous with the daily prob with the charge. Everything was fine until about 4 days after I flashed.
It has the lightning bolt on the battery, says charging on Battery Status Pro but it actually loses %....
I just started using Launcher Pro - could this be it?

it could not be LauncherPro....alot of things could be the cause of a battery drain....simple things like changing your wallpaper to a darker/black one can improve battery life.....reconditioning your battery can reduce battery drain....one of the main causes of battery drain is the modem...the JK6 is the battery killer in my eyes....try a battery recondition...if all else fails you could Odin back to stock and see if that solves your problem

Issues with EC10

I'm currently running EB01 with stoc EC10 with no problems. I want to either run EC10 undervolt or the new standard volt over clocKed. This issue is the only way i can flash them is with SGS Kernel flasher. CWM (Red) will not let me flash the new Kernels. After I install any new Kernel with SGS it runns fine and then freezes the device.
How do i relsolve?
I would suggest stepping back and figuring out why cwm isn't working. Do you have the new CWM that JT released(works with all kernels and voodoo)- linked here I think is the newest one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948722 ?
If not that may be your issue. If you do then that's odd because I have it and don't have the problem with flashing EC10 kernels.
Your not the first. I was fine on adrynlynns kernal then I went to JTs kernal and thats what happened. Went back to adrynlynns kernal and im fine again.
Stock EC10 = adryn's or jt's from source?
Also, do you have voodoo enabled? Are you flashing voodoo or nonvoodoo kernels?
BUt yeah, I think the first step would be to figure out why your CWM is messed up.
If all fails maybe follow one of the tutorials and Odin/Heimdall back to the basics. And go step by step from there.
From EB01 with SC 2.9.2 to EC10
I've checked around and can't seem to find why I'm not able to flash the EC10 kernel. As stated in the title, I'm currently running EB10 with Superclean 2.9.2.
When I boot into recovery, install from SD Card, and select the EC10 ROM from my SD Card (this one from JT - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010102), it appears to install, says complete, but after rebooting I still show EB10.
Any help greatly appreciated!
You might actually be running the kernel
go into terminal (or download one from market)
type:
su
{Press enter}
cat /proc/version
{press Enter}
You will see:
Linux Version 2.6.32.9 (kernel author@virtualbox) (gcc version 4.4.1 (yada yada yada) COMPILE DATE
If that compile date is the date the the author released the kernel you are running it. If not....sorry but someone else is going to have to help because I'm sleepy and going to bed =)

You are correct Sir! Thanks for your help! I guess I'll ignore the reading then.
What's getting me lately is battery life. I've been through the fully drain, fully charge stuff and still seem to lose about 40-50% overnight while the phone sits idle for 7-8 hours. Yes, it's a little off topic, but it seems like 10 or 15% loss overnight would be normal, correct?

Phone freezes when goes to sleep using any ROM.

Hello Guys.
This is my first question or issue that I would like to share.
I have a GSII international version and currently rooted running ICS 4.0.3 stock (I guess) with CWM V3.15 .
Now the deal is that whenever I flash any rom, most of the time works except when I use Siyah Kernel for some reason I get Kernel Panic mode but with other Kernels work fine I'm trying CM10 and RR 4.1.1.
The installation goes well and the phone works but as soon as I let the screen go to sleep for more than 4 minutes the phone gets stuck and I have to do a hard reset then it starts working normally and when the screen goes off again bam! frozen!..is not an app issue cause I've tried with no apps and its the same thing.
Now one curious thing is that once I flash I cannot go into CWM for some reason.it just won't go ..another thing that I want to mention is that before I installed it and it was happening the same thing and I change the CPU governor and it seems that it fixed the problem and I was able to use the rom with no problems for about a week or so, but now that I had to re install it again I went and I change the CPU governor and is not fixing the freezing problem.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Baseband: I910XXLPS
Kernel: 3.0.15-I9100XXLPB-CL99600 [email protected]#3
Build: IML74K.XXLPB
just to not leaving any place to doubts full wipe (format /system /data, wipe cache, dalvik and factory resets) and flash an stock rom. try it for a while..if it keep doing that...take it to service...
try flashing another kernel , the one i use and it's wroking perfectly is siyah 3.3.3d

[Q]Battery Drain SGS2 GT-i9100 AndroidOS 98%

Greetings gentlemen,
I'm here today to ask for your help.
For the last 5 days I am experiencing extreme battery drainage(Android OS nearly 100% Battery Usage ). Back when it began I did not install anything suspicious or battery consuming software. I never go full screen brightness, and all unnecessary apps are either deleted or disabled. I have tried Factory Resetting, Wiping all possible caches, systems, internal/external SD cards. I even tried manually deleting all folders from my PC. I have tried installing custom kernels, roots and even stock ROM. Right now I'm with stock ROM with CF root. Phone state: Model number- GT-i9100; Android 4.0.3; Baseband v. i9100XXLPS, Kernel v. 3.0.15-i9100XXLPQ-CL223505 se,[email protected] #3; Built number IML74K.XWLP7. And here is what I get from the battery report : i41.tinypic(dot)com/1j9nae.png
I have tried full discharge and charge to 100% and calibration. Even cleared the battery stats It just doesn't work. I am using Nova Launcher. Even after going back to TwLauncher I am still getting 98% Android OS usage. I don't use Data Mode and Wi-Fi isn't always on. When charged and calibrated at 100% at 21:00pm, in the morning at 9:00am phone battery is completely empty and shut down.
If you can help me fix this I'd like to use the stock ROM, with a nice battery stable kernel & still with Nova Launcher. NOTE: This is still happening with a NEW battery.
:fingers-crossed: If you could help me I'd be extremely grateful.
Your problem seems like what i had previously
What i think I'd that it is still a kernel problem or that u r facing SODS
Both in my opinion can be fixed by changing kernel
It happened to me that no kernel except dorimanx works for me all other kernel cause sods on samsung based roms
Try dorimanx kernel v8.35 if u r using Samsung based rom
Although that kernel would fix the problem it would slow d phone occasionally
Therefore i recommended u use aosp based rom or even better use all the things that i m using, they r mentioned below
N also follow this guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35061392
N see the screenshots below for my battery life n antutu benchmark
Hope this helps u
Rom: carbonrom stable v1.8
Kernel : dorimanx v9.35
Governor: nightmare
No OC or UV
Battery : stock (1650mah)

[Q] Anyone have a copy of the ics devil kernel/recovery?

I'm using the Aokp m6 rom but from my understan
ding, it doesn't come with a recovery? it says I have stock recovery in my recovery tools apk. I have the glitch kernel/recovery that I use on M5 but last night when I wiped my cache/dalvik cache it threw me for a bootloop and I apparently didn't have any recovery installed? I have the twrp open script recovery that I can use on the m6 rom but I like all of the extra options on the devil recovery. thanks in advance!
are you using the old official M6 with Glitch or the Devil M6? you might want to use the devil m6 build if you want devil
Well I have the Milestone 5 that is glitched and the milestone 6 that comes with the devil kernel but I'm looking for the devil kernel/recovery that's in a zip file that I can flash through cwm recovery like I have for aokp m5 which contains the glitch recovery and what not. Because when I did a factory reset on the aokp m6devild rom,i was stuck with no recovery. Or did I just do something wrong?

Best of my recollection, that version came with the cwm recovery but the devil kernel build inside.
are you talking about this tool? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334554
as far as I know, most of those type will not work for the fascinate,,, but I have not looked at that one,,,
our recovery is also packaged with the boot partition and cannot be flashed/installed separately, which is how most of these tools work.
going off my menory this should be what you want...
Devil3_1.6.1
.zip for install thru current recovery

thanks hhp, that's what I was looking for. Actually it was a collection of old roms you uploaded that I've been getting everything from. Am I crazy for wanting to use ICS? I read reports of people loving their jb roms on their fassy and claiming 2days without charging but I literally have to walk arounaround with my charger on every jb rom I've tried. Do you have any suggestions on whether I should use gb or ics for the most battery life? I don't care so much about tweaks anymore, I just want my phone to not die on me everywhere I go. And is glitch or devil better for battery life?

yay i'm not alone. been using ICS for a while now and I myself have been trying different things for.. gee some time. right now i'm running the official milestone 6 (glitch, devil doesn't like my phone) and i've been trying to get decent battery life for a while.. trying calibration crap even though that's been confirmed a myth, wiped battery stats too many times to count, ugh... i did get 2 days of moderate usage at one point with AOKP.
but yeah as i said devil doesn't like my phone so i'm stuck (even though glitch is amazing). i'm not too much of an overclocker and i haven't even changed governors and i get 2 days of light usage usually.
how much battery do you get? apparently you use gummy.. i've never been a big gummy person. just my 2 cents
@GarrettVW67 I really got nothing for you on that one. I get 4-6 hours of heavy usage. And I'm 98% time beside a power outlet and usually less than 2 hours without charging access.
And I like having compatibility with all the current apps

ics is compatible with all the current apps. hell, gingerbread is still compatible with most things these days.
