Greetings gentlemen,
I'm here today to ask for your help.
For the last 5 days I am experiencing extreme battery drainage(Android OS nearly 100% Battery Usage ). Back when it began I did not install anything suspicious or battery consuming software. I never go full screen brightness, and all unnecessary apps are either deleted or disabled. I have tried Factory Resetting, Wiping all possible caches, systems, internal/external SD cards. I even tried manually deleting all folders from my PC. I have tried installing custom kernels, roots and even stock ROM. Right now I'm with stock ROM with CF root. Phone state: Model number- GT-i9100; Android 4.0.3; Baseband v. i9100XXLPS, Kernel v. 3.0.15-i9100XXLPQ-CL223505 se,[email protected] #3; Built number IML74K.XWLP7. And here is what I get from the battery report : i41.tinypic(dot)com/1j9nae.png
I have tried full discharge and charge to 100% and calibration. Even cleared the battery stats It just doesn't work. I am using Nova Launcher. Even after going back to TwLauncher I am still getting 98% Android OS usage. I don't use Data Mode and Wi-Fi isn't always on. When charged and calibrated at 100% at 21:00pm, in the morning at 9:00am phone battery is completely empty and shut down.
If you can help me fix this I'd like to use the stock ROM, with a nice battery stable kernel & still with Nova Launcher. NOTE: This is still happening with a NEW battery.
:fingers-crossed: If you could help me I'd be extremely grateful.
Your problem seems like what i had previously
What i think I'd that it is still a kernel problem or that u r facing SODS
Both in my opinion can be fixed by changing kernel
It happened to me that no kernel except dorimanx works for me all other kernel cause sods on samsung based roms
Try dorimanx kernel v8.35 if u r using Samsung based rom
Although that kernel would fix the problem it would slow d phone occasionally
Therefore i recommended u use aosp based rom or even better use all the things that i m using, they r mentioned below
N also follow this guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35061392
N see the screenshots below for my battery life n antutu benchmark
Hope this helps u
Rom: carbonrom stable v1.8
Kernel : dorimanx v9.35
Governor: nightmare
No OC or UV
Battery : stock (1650mah)

I am a noob & have had issues with UVJK6 charging my battery. Sometimes it does not charge when the phone shows it is charging. Can I just use CWM to flash from this to obsidian?
Thanks for any help.

im assuming you mean the JK6 modem....
you MUST use ClockworkMod Recovery to flash anything....
download the JK6 modem from the Team Whiskey website....put the zip on the root of your sd card....reboot into recovery and select install zip from sd card...
i doubt if that will fix your charging problem...
The charge problem only happens about once a day. I pull the battery for about 10 mins then its fine. I'm not sure about the kernel thing.
My phone reads Firmware version - 2.2 Baseband version T959UVJK6 Kernel version 2.6.32.9 Build number FROYO.UVJK6
Is there a place I can learn more basic information about these mean?
I really have no knowledge about kernels, basebands or builds but know enough to look on here to understand how to use CWM to flash to what I thought was the stock froyo rom.
I like it and the only prob is that it makes me nervous with the daily prob with the charge. Everything was fine until about 4 days after I flashed.
It has the lightning bolt on the battery, says charging on Battery Status Pro but it actually loses %....
I just started using Launcher Pro - could this be it?

it could not be LauncherPro....alot of things could be the cause of a battery drain....simple things like changing your wallpaper to a darker/black one can improve battery life.....reconditioning your battery can reduce battery drain....one of the main causes of battery drain is the modem...the JK6 is the battery killer in my eyes....try a battery recondition...if all else fails you could Odin back to stock and see if that solves your problem
OK there is one problem that persists with all of the versions of the Sammy ICS roms.
Issue:
I boot into recovery wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, format system and then flash the rom, for example "Neatrom lite". Everything goes ok, I boot into the rom itself. Then I'll say, hey what the heck ~I won't install anything just to see whether its a application that is causing it. Then I listen to some music and turn off the music and lock the phone. After like 20 minutes or 20 hours or 2 days it will frequently stay on the 1200MHZ frequency and stay there for about 10 minutes. And as all of you know this will heat the phone up and therefore cause it to lose a decent amount of battery (30% in my case).
I tried to so hard to fix this problem by flashing another kernel or flashing the rom again or flashing a different rom but it still doesn't work...I love Samsung's ICS roms because the TV out works and its ICS. I just hope that the 4.0.4 rom will fix this.
So any idea guys? Any help or any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Install BetterBatteryStats from a thread here on XDA and fully charge your phone and then let it fully discharge and study the results for kernel wakelocks. Type wakelock into Google and find a solution.

Hi, i've been experimenting this problem for 2 months. I've got CyanogenMod 9, but before I flashed Cyanogen Resurrection 4.0.3 and I formated everything as possible (Wipe Data, Cache, Dalvik and format /system). The battery doesn't lose charge when I restart it.
Thanks!
So, what is your question..?

If any of you have the same problem and know the solution. I've read other messages like mine, but I'm not in the same circumstances. I haven't got any apps except social (whatsapp, twitter...) none of my apps it's draining the battery I simply don't know why my phone shuts down by itself
You're running stock kernel right? Have you changed anything at the Performance-menu at Settings? And when do this reboots occur?
Have you tried flashing for example CM10.1 to see if the same problems come up? You could make a Nandroid backup to try this.

Thanks for the answers. I have the stock cm9 kernel. I don't touch anything at the performance settings. Actually, this problem comes from a couple of roms more. AOKP, ParanoidAndroid, and another one 4.2.1 which I don't remember the name. I've tried a stock ROM before but the performance was not good at all, freezes and slow work at general. Thanks.
Make a full wipe (4) and go as stock as you can. Try it for a day or two and then go back to custom.
You wanna see if it keeps going off on its own, don't worry about performance just yet.
If it does it on all roms you've tried its obviously a hardware issue.
Try a different battery, if that doesnt help then send it for repair.
SGS2 power off issue
Hiya,
I have been running and updating Resurrection Remix and Siyah/Dorimanx kernels for awhile now and this worked fine up until last week. After an update to Dorimanx 7.50 my phone started dropping its network connectivity and powering off randomly, i then updated the Kernel to a new verison hoping the issue had been address (8.3 to be specific) after which my phone wouldnt even go through the boot sequence properly.
After a bit of fiddling i have managed to install an Official JB ROM, (details in the image attached) and network connectivity now seems to be ok, but the phone still powers off...ALOT. Anyone else experience similar issues and find a solution?
Note: I have ordered a new battery in case that is the issue as suggested above, but just checking incase theres something im missing while I wait. Also, the phone is about 16 months old.
Sv: [Q] SGS2 turns itself off
Check your fuel gauge chip. Reset it with siyah or dorimanx kernel.

Hi, I write here because I'm a new user and I haven't wrote 10 messages yet. I have some questions for MrTapa. First of all thanks for your work. I have a problem with your rom, Optimax 3.0 on my Ray: it's happened already 2 times that the phone reboots by itself and get stuck on Sony logo. Only way to resolve is to flash stock rom with Flashtools. When it happened for the first time I was installing X-Parts from the market (I have locked bootloader), while the second time I was deleting some desktop pictures from system/etc/customization/content/com/sonyericsson/wallpaperpicker/wallpapers. If it can useful my basic configuration is: GX launcher, NXT framework, T tabbed statusbar, supercharger + zipalign (even if I tried the method for use init.d on stock kernel but with no success), SuperSU, Z theme, NXT contacts and dialer. Are there some incompatibilities with this configuration? However with the old versions of Optimax I never had problems at all.
Another question is about the battery: I noticed that with your roms the charge time is reduced compared to the stock rom, about 2 hours instead of 3 hours. Also the battery life is very short, only 1,30-2 hours with screen on (just used with system apps, with no other apps installed). Have you changed some files configuration concerning the battery?
Thanks in advance.

From my experience with st15i (Mini) and after evaluating ALL available kernels and MOST of available ROMs I can suggest:
1. About bootloop it can happen if you missed some critical step ( e.g format system ). If developer suggests to format system, DO it. You will loose your data but there is NO other option. (You can use Titanium Backup to backup your apps+data before ROM installation and restore them after). If it is a ROM bug search ROM's thread for someone with similar problem. It's statistically extremely rare to be the first to face the particular problem. Maybe your problem is all ready fixed (after other member's question to developer).
2. Battery drain: the most important factor is kernel. Usuall, ROM plays minor part in battery drain. With the right kernel and adjustments (governor - I/O scheduler) you can even double your battery's life. In my device it was 20-24 h to 48-60 h after flashing a custom kernel. You can also use a battery saver app (like Ultimate Juice, Battery Saver DU etc).

Thanks for reply. About first point I actually done every steps that the developer has suggested: wipe user data, format system, data, cache, dalvik cache, battery stats.
About the battery I don't know why, but the difference between original rom and Optimax rom is clear. I have reflashed the modified rom just few hours ago, the battery drain has been about 20% in two hours with phone simply in standby. I don't think this is a normal behavior. With original firmware it doesn't happen. The condition battery is good. I have stock kernel because I have locked bootloader.
Maybe this problem is about root: or the root process has not gone totally succesful, or the cause of the problem is SuperSU, wich I have never used before but in my opinion it is not very stable. It's better Superuser.
I wanted write on Optimax thread but I can't because I'm a new user, I would be grateful if someone can contatc the developer (MrTapa) about my problem.
Hello!
I just recently flashed a rom (Pardus HD v16) to my Samsung S3 I9300 for the first time. I have some experience with flashing roms from an older phone so I'm not 100% new to this.
Everything seemed to go well with the installation, no errors or anything scary, but the bottom half on my phone heats up crazy fast now(it's been up to 50 C!). The battery also drains way to fast, up to 20%+ each hour with minimum usage. The CPU runs at 1400MHZ almost all the time, even when I'm just scrolling in the home screen.
I have tried to reflash the rom with both ROMmanager and CWR (with factory reset, and cache wipeing) but there is no change. I have also tried to flash Omega rom v46.1, with the same results.
I'm including a dumpfile and a screenshot of the kernel wakelock from BBS, and a system info screenshot, let me know if you need something else!
Help?
As omega v 46 is based on leaked 4.2.2 so thats pretty much common that phone gets heated as it is leaked firmware.Try to revert back to 4.1.2 ROMS
Sent from my GT-I9300
Reverting to 4.2.1 ROMS worked, thanks!
