Error 801812E0 when restoring from backup - Nokia Lumia 800

I know this is a fairly common error, and in fact I've posted a thread on it in the past, but everywhere I've looked I've found zero helpful things. I used Nokia Care Suite to upgrade my Lumia to 12070, making a full Zune backup with Wp7EasyBackup first. Upon restoring, I encounter the 801812E0 error every single time. I've tried using Wp7EasyBackup and Zune software to restore, I've tried restoring the backup to: the new firmware, the 11501 firmware, and the exact firmware I was on when the backup was made. Nothing will work, and I need this backup! Help!

Pretty sure if you used Nokia Care Suite to flash a ROM your existing backups become useless.
If you would like to downgrade, just find a 11451 or 11501 rom and reflash it.

As far as I know, no

I'd the same issue as well, even downgrade back to 15000 or 15001, which my backup was made, still no luck to restore via Zune or W7EasyBackup.

Can't restore backup since updated to 12220

Hi Guys!
Since I updated my Lumia 800's FW to 12220 using Cab Sender, I cannot restore my backup created by the cab sender neither that I created previously with Zune. Is this actually normal? What about those, who updated via Zune? I heard they has the some problem. Could anybody confirm it please?
By the way my battery drains 1% / hour in stand by (wifi and mobile data are turned off). It's worse than It was with 12070 (1% / 2.5 hour). Is there anybody who has the same problem?
Thanks
Hi bkotyik,
Got the same error here with lumia. Searched MSFT q&a-site for the error number and got: this is normal behavior, because the backup made by Zune before upgrade is only a restore point in case the update failed, not a full backup. There was a sentence "if your upgrade finished successful than your device works as expected and there's no need to rollback." Thanks MS, this is big fault

Did you do your update with zune, or via cab sender method? I also did a backup with WP7 Easy Backup tool and with Cab Sender. Neither of them can I restore. I know both of them uses Zune's assemblies, so It's possible the backup methods are the same, but in this case I don't know who One can do a full backup.
Can you confirm the battery issue as well?
I'm not sure If the cabs We injected via the cab sender, are in every case the same, we would get from Zune.
It would be nice, If We could find it out for sure.
I had the same problem after updating through cab sender. I couldn’t get the update through Zune so I flashed my Lumia 800 with the OS version 12220. Using WP7 Easy Backup Tool no problem backing up or restoring with new backup, but with previous backup (previous OS version) it’s impossible to restore. So I guess this is a bug.

Need help with updating rooted neo

Hi guys, it has been awhile since i rooted my neo, with a guide I believe I found here.
I'm currently on version 2.3.4 with root and would like to update to ICS or higher if possible.
Now I've tried to do an OTA update but it restarted my phone with the announcement that it couldn't upgrade to version 4.0.2.A.0.62 (luckily not bricked)
So now I have a few questions regarding this. I have the superuser app on my neo(MT15i) and i found 2 options which may or may not work. These are "temp unroot" and "ota survival". I haven't used these options, afraid of bricking my phone.
All in all, anyone know the correct way of updating my phone?
thank you for your time, reading this
Ether update your phone with PC Companion or Sony update service, and root it after.
Or you can flash one of the ftf's with flashtool and root it after. These you can find in sticky thread in general section.

Thank you for your reply. I already tried via the PC companion and after an hour or so, it still didn't do anything.
As for the other solution, I will try this as soon as possible. If I understand it correctly, if I update my phone succesfully, I automatically lose root? And afterwards I should root it again?

Yes. Clean install wipes your phone. So make backup.
Only in some cases when it's small update(ie. not changing android version) PCC or SEUS leave data partition intact. But in that case you can click repair option in PCC or flash it with SEUS(SUS) and your data will be wiped. Which is what I suggest as it's always good to have clean phone when you get different android version.

No error at all, it seemed to be stuck at preparing the phone for the update, furtheron there was no sign it was actually doing anything in the background.
And i made a backup of everything on my phone with the app backup master. Or do you suggest another/better application?

I found this post by you, I could use the same procedure to update my phone right?
small edit: both your dropbox link and 4shared link are down
Use whichever app you want, if it backuped what you wanted then it's ok. I personally use MyPhoneExplorer as I only need sms, contacts and notes/tasks(from calendar). Don't know how MPE goes with apps, you can use titanium backup for apps.
That is old tutorial with links to old android 4.0.3( build .562), but it still works(4shared is not down, as I tested it now).
That's why I wrote, in above reply, to check sticky thread in general section. So no need to look around.
p.s. read a note in that (sticky) thread, make backup of your CDF customization number. OR simply update it with PCC(I guess you caught it on a bad day, usually it works ok) or SUS.

[Q] Backup/Restore b4 return dilema.

so this is my problem. Im having some issues with my phone and I want it to be changed. The issues really dont matter. In order for my provider to send me another phone they want me to do a master reset. This of course will delete all my apps and settings. As far as I know there is not a backup app that once you restore the phone and apps the restored phone will have all it's app data in place, the icons will be where you want them, etc, just like you would from when you clone or make an image from a Hard Drive from pc... Or is there and application that will do this? My only other option (i believe) is to root the phone to then use an app to do a real backup, then unroot the phone, root the new phone and do the restore. I also have to remove the root from the old phone but can that be done without increasing the counter? This is all a big hassle. I cant believe you can do a real backup/restore on a phone nowadays....
If there is any other way to do it I will appreciate the help. I will have to do this in the next days since my warranty expires in a bit over a month...
Thanks!
You are correct ....
Rooting of the device is needed, then the unroot.
It's the only method I'm aware of in getting a full nandroid backup ..g
Sarge has it right if you want to use backup apps.
If you don't want to root, you will need to flash TWRP or CWR to get the custom recovery and backup. Then make a backup to your external SD card. Use recovery to factory reset. Send the phone away after removing SD card and sim card. The backup is called a nandroid and it is basically an image of the phone.
On new phone flash same recovery then restore the backup. When you start the phone it will be as the broken one was.
You can remove the recovery from the broken phone, but I never heard of anyone getting problems from the warranty people for that.
Thanks both of you guys for the information. I am getting ready to do the root not only for the backup but there are quite a few apps that I want to use that require root that I am going to have to do it.
Now, I started reading tonight and the more I read the more I get confused. Is there an official guide to root the note (specifically AT&T running ICS 4.0.4 if there is a difference) in a way that I can unroot it in the future avoiding tripping any counters?
I have read so many different threads about rooting, they tend to be different so I am looking for the "current" accepted "method" to do this with decent steps if possible. Thanks much!
Whoa whoa, are we forgetting about ADB Backup?
What do you mean CPA?
BTW, I want to root the stock att ics, I am not interested into flashing another rom.

Yeah I understand, you're wanting to do a full backup of your phone before you turn it in right? Or, at the very least, your apps and settings?
Welp, here you go: no root required.
A quick google search for "ADB backup" should get you the info you need as well.
Also looks like there's an XDA dev who came up with a much easier interface (as opposed to doing everything via command-line, which still isn't that difficult). Might be worth checking:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36499906
Edit: Read your second post, and it looks like you're interested in rooting...I guess I was confused as to your intentions after reading you first post, which just sounded like you didn't want to lose your info after doing a factory reset. Regardless, it is HIGHLY advised before doing any sort of root-related activity to do an ADB backup. That way, if anything goes wrong in the rooting process itself, or if you later decide you want to go back to stock and/or all of your original apps and settings from before the root, you can literally be back with a clean slate within a matter of minutes.
Thanks very much for the link. I have swapped phones already but it will be helpful before I root. THANKS!
after looking at adb I see it would not work for my initial needs as it only can be restored to the same device. I wanted something I could do a backup in the old one and restore that backup in the new one. Anyway, since I am past that anyway I am going to give it a try in theold device.... thanks!

The full backup, yes (regarding being able to only restore to the same device) but you could literally extract whatever data you want from the ADB backup using WinRar, then manually push it to your new device.
Apparently ADB backup is broke, it does not respect the -noshared flag and the resulting file is corrupted requiring more processing on the file for it to work... dang it! Seems it has been fixed in JB...
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=28303
http://www.acertabletforum.com/foru...stem-backup-ics-only-root-not-required-2.html
and there is more if you search the net.... Now, why will they not fix it is beyond me. Ok, so the command does not respect -noshared, that is easy to fix, I can just pull my sd card out but making an otherwise broken and unusable file giving the user the false sense of security and not fixing the bug is plain wrong... The only option will be to upgrade to JB but the official upgrade is not out and knowing at&t I wont be for a bit... I am not much into flashing leaked rom although that might change in the near future...
Thanks.

Well crap man, that sucks - sorry! I'm not gonna lie, I didn't read the link you posted as I'm pulling all nighters about 3 times a week during for the busy season of my profession (see my user name lol)...but you're saying that something actually went WRONG with the SDK on ICS firmware - and Google isn't fixing it?? That can't be right...right?
I can personally couch for this method, as I used it to make a full unrooted backup - of stock 4.0.4 ICS - back in October when I rooted my Note for the first time. And the first thing I did (per the rooting tutorial I was following) was verify the backup by doing a restore via ADB before I rooted - and everything worked fine. Like I said, sorry it's not working for you! Have you considered rooting, installing a custom recovery, doing a nandroid backup (and saving it someplace safe of course), then doing a full unroot back to stock + reset your flash counter? There are some great tutorials to walk you through all of that on the Galaxy Note Everything Thread in the General forum, in case that's an option.

But what's the point in putting things simply like that when I can write an entire paragraph saying the same thing, but more confusing??

[Q] slow startup after messing with root and custom roms.

I successfully rooted my phone and installed android revolution hd, which i ditched due to slow startup speed. I don't want to mess with s off and all that. So, after I installed the stock rom from his website, i was surprised to see that I still have an over 2 minute boot time. How can I fix this easily? I'd rather not have to redownload everything for the 4th time today...
My device is S on, unlocked bootloader. I restored the default recovery. Honestly, I'd like to just go back to stock without losing everything. Root would be nice but if it's difficult I'd rather not.
What hboot and what radio baseband? What carrier/region version of the M8?
You can return to stock to accept the OTA, to avoid having to S-off just to update the firmware.

I honestly don't know anything except ATT US. I think I may have accidentally restored with the international firmware.

You're S-on, so if all you did is flash a international ROM or restored a international stock nandroid, its not a big deal. That doesn't touch any of the important stuff like radio baseband (s-off is required to do that) and is easily reversible. But try to keep careful track of any mods you do to the phone moving forward. Its hard to help you, if you don't even remember what you did to the phone.
OTA = official "over the air" updates. OS software updates that come from HTC or your carrier direct to the phone automatically.
Forgot that you posted in the AT&T section (I spend time in both this and the "international" or generic M8 forums, so I just lost track of which one you posted in). Being the AT&T version, returning to stock is very easy. Just relock the bootloader, connect the phone to a PC, and run the RUU executable:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/general/htc-one-m8-ruu-m8ul-4-4-3-t2860423
This will get you on the latest firmware, and the latest stock ROM, recovery, radio, etc. From there, you can either just leave it be, or unlock the bootloader, install custom recovery and root, if you want to.

Yes, backup all user data. RUU will wipe the phone.
I usually just copy and paste things like photos to my PC, or you can backup to the cloud by Picasa, Dropbox, or other means. Contacts are backed up to GMail by default (unless you changed it).
If you want to backup other things (like app data, SMS) you can checkout Helium. I haven't personally used it, but I've seen it recommended by others. There are other backup options that require root, but it sounds like you are on the fence about root.

Any Sense 2.x based ROM combined with outdated 1.x firmware (hboot, radio, etc.) on the phone will result in known issues like long boot times, broken WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.
Updating with the 2.23 RUU, or alternately updating by OTA (more complicated) will update the firmware and resolve this issue.

[Q] One way audio

Recently my phone developed a nasty problem- I can hear the caller on the other side, they can't hear me. The phone works after rebooting, but the problem reappears in an hour or so. It also exists on Bluetooth. I'm still on rooted ZV4 . No recent software changes other than routine app updates. What can I do to fix this thing?
Well for starters try running this dialer code: ##update# this will update prl and profile witch usally fixs most but not all call/data issues. Try upgrading to a newer version as far a I know ZV4 has lots of call issues witch seem to be fixed in ZV6. That is up to, to upgrafe you can also try ZV8 it is brand new. After running that dailer code if the problem is still there use adb to to take a logcat file. Then upload the file for use to check out we will probaly beable to find the bug with the help of that file. If you are on windows feel free to PM me I will be more then happy to send a tool of my own creation that will record your log for you.
I tried ##update# and it didn't help. I'd like to try to upgrade to ZV8. What is the best way to proceed without loosing root? I can't seem to find a definitive guide. I rooted when it was first possible, so I don't even have TWRP. Sorry to ask what is probably a basic question, I don't want to end up with a brick.
Just download this app from the playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cgollner.flashify. Once you are in the app make sure click "Accept" then grant it root access when prompted for it. Then click "Recovery Image" under the "FLASH" tab. Click "Download TWRP". Then click the latest one and let it download it when propted to flash it press "Yup". That is the fastest and easyiest way to flash twrp just make sure to make a backup of your previous rom.
I installed TWRP and now backing everything up.
I understand my next steps should be:
1. Nandroid backup
2. EFS backup http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/efs-lg-g3-efs-backup-restore-t2907329/
3. Titanium backup
4. Download and flash stock rooted ZV8 http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/development/stockzv8lodexed-t3030795
5 Download and install ZV8 modem (not sure if it is necessary)
6 Restore EFS
7 Restore my apps and data with TB
Did I miss anything?
I also saved the logcat to a file, but the audio was working at that moment, so it probably doesn't have anything useful
