I'm currently on 2.3.6 stock
And i use NDrive with portugal maps as my navigator, until i updated to 2.3.6 everything worked real great.
Now it works! But every time i turn on mobile data on so the gps lock my position and also make my navigation faster, the program crashes!
If i use only gps without mobile data works just fine.
Doen anyone as a clue why this happens? Thanks in advance!

Just got myself a TG01 Upgrading from my old SPV M700 I have installed Co Pilot on my new phone bot it cant find the GPS Signal on it

Thanks

Hi, i have almost the same problem i install difretn program on my TG01 i i have problem because hi cannot found a gps why
go here http://www.modaco.com/content/toshiba-tg01-tg01-modaco-com/290500/tom-tom-on-tg01/
it's been dealt with few times
I'm using gps gate for memory maps on my tg01, works a treat.
For most of these programs, if there is an option for what driver/source, choose intermediate driver, other than that, it should work without gps gate
for those that use igo8 as navigation software, to be recognized the gps receiver, just add the following lines in sys.txt:
[gps]
source="virtserial"

i found that gpsgate works like a charm as well
sadly its not freeware but you can try it out, it has a trial version
I am using NDrive .. and loving it ... so much nicer than the TomTom and Garmin.
GPSGate does work but there is another issue with the GPS on this device where it will lose the signal after a period of time and then sit there and reconnect. It does still work but intermittently disconnects and then reconnects. Apparently the same thing happens when using Garmin which actually doesnt need GPSGate, so nothing to do with the application but more to do with the hardware.
Be nice if this gets fixed when the next update comes out.
Won't hold my breath though.
I agree with you @zomig

OK then ...
Where precisely on xda-developers has the issue of the TG01 intermittently losing its GPS connection been discussed?
It is not GPSGATE causing this problem. I believe the problem lies in loosing reception for a second. Without a valid phone signal, the GPS fails to work.
Everytime I lost GPS, I also lost phone reception....
Basically what I think happens is this, somewhere in the software, if the phone signal is lost, the A-GPS is lost, the proper GPS chipset is shutdown too, which throws the GPS program.
Then the phone signal comes back, A-GPS gets a fix and boots the proper GPS up.
My idea is to disable the A-GPS as its useless anyway and get it working on a traditional way. GPS chipset only.
i don't use A-GPS and I still have this problem.

A-GPS comes on automatically alongside with the proper GPS. You cannot specify it.
I have noticed that I loose signal when the GPS is running otherwise it's fine
I hope Toshiba fix this soon, it does get annoying!!
No sound on Toshiba TG01 for IGO App,
I got the GPS to work with the Virt serial but I cannot get the sound to work at all. Has anyone got the voices to work?

Dear friend, that's odd, GPS and phone are separated because if you switch off the phone (Fly mode) , GPS still works perfectly...

Not on the TG01, which is the problem, when the phone is in flight mode (or no sim card) the GPS fails to work! Which makes me question if A-GPS which works through the cellular network has something to do with all the problems......

My GPS works perfectly without SIM card..
hello! I am new to this internal GPS thing (I used external bluetooth gps on a qtek 9000 up till now) I tried to find answers on google about how I can connect my igo8 to the internal gps and I cannot find any useful one. could you please help me with detailed instructions?
thank you!
guys, i can't let the gps using satellite in my optimus one to work...
always says "Waiting for location" .... like using the carhome or the navigation bundled applications pre-installed...
any fix please?
You have to wait for a lock. That's normal.
Also, Try waiting for a lock outdoors. GPS signals aren't as strong as the ones used in SMS and stuff.
@ kp
ive tried waiting for quite a long time but nothing happened...tried also outdoor but the same...
ive tried using GPS Test application to located GPS Satellites, and indeed it can locate some with low to average signals...but when i am going to use the pre-installed applications for tracking my location, it still can't.
ive searched the net and someone also is having the same problem using LG Optimus One as well.... >.<
Depending on your firmware this might be a bug. There were GPS problemes reported with certain firmwares. But you have to be patient too, because sometimes it takes a while until 2 or more satellites are found and locked.
You can try using free app like "Ulysse Gizmos" on monitoring gps, especially on lockon status.
& also try this tips to access the internal gps test menu @ link: goo.gl/ZFs6D
Our LG Optimus One P500 code is 3845#*500#
Do let us know how it goes.
Good luck!
I use the P500 whitout a data connection. So does have a sense set the gps in A-GPS or if i have the data not active i have to set it in a GPS Standalone?
restart phone and try again
are u using da stock rom?
@Hesediel
If you don't have data conection you cann't receive any maps, but it's no problem to use a-GPS. But without data you will simply have the geo-data, no maps. So that seems to make no sense.

Yes but i would like to buy an offline navigator like sygic, copilot, ndrive, something like that not the google maps/navigatopr for now, so it's better i use gps as standalone or is the same setting it as a-gps ms based?
it's a known problem.
I've got a p500 without data connection (I'm using wi-fi only).
The first week after flashing my phone the gps works fine.
Then afer a week the gps fix begins to be sloooow.
After a month it is very slow.
So I have to do an hard reset to turn the gps works well again.
Any utility (like gps status) that try to reset the gsp... fail.
The only known solution... is a ... sadly... hard reset.
I hope the someone will be able to write an application to do the same thing like the gps hard reset.
Use fasterfix, you can find this in android market.just search for "fasterfix"
Requires root, busybox and data connection during the initial GPS lock time.
Your gps will get a fix within seconds.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
I have a problem with custom rom ( openoptimus) and gps.It takes to much time to lock to gps and sometimes i have to reset the phone in order to work...I have download the faster fix but it hasnet work

Well, i have the same problem and used the same solution. But now I just wait. Sometimes I "cold start" gps with GPS Status or even the "hidden" gps test menu and after waiting a little or a lot (30s or 10min) I get GPS fix. Anyway, restarting the phone seems to work well too.
I traveled to Europe and used my Photon with a local SIM. I updated the APN settings and used MarketEnabler.
After I was back to US Sprint, Maps and Navigation have started to show very low GPS accuracy (a very large shaded disk) and my position refreshes slower than 5 seconds. However, GPS utility apps indicate GPS works well.
I have restored all settings in MarketEnabler and removed its data and uninstalled it. The problem persists.
Any ideas where the problem might be? Thanks a lot.

Solved. Thank you!
I have noticed that it is not possible to use GPS on Springboard without SIM card from TMobile and data plan. Does anyone know of any hack? I'd love to run applications like Copilot and use this as GPS.
I am running rooted Huawei Android 4.0.3 version BTW and that hasn't helped!
Thanks in advance for all your help.
you don't need a sim card so that GPS works.
i used my gps software Navigon on the mediapad with Flight Mode (to save some battery
I use GPS all the time without SIM card in my Springboard.
Might check your settings. An app like 'GPS Status' may also be helpful to see satellite status, etc.
Thank you all for your inputs. I guess something was wrong with my ROM - I updated the image to C232B005 and it has started working.
Hi mates. I've reinstalled my firmware to new one. And my google maps, or any other non-offline maps stop to work thru 3g (EDGE doesn't matter). Only works if Wi-Fi connected. I've moved to old one version of firmware - where everything worked fine (1.59 russian translation). But... Nothing work.
I've found some interesting thing - if I turn off GPS, it gets the traffic jam info, routes and etc. If I turn back - nothing work. But when I go wifi - everything ok.
Can you please help me in solving of this issue, because phone w/o maps is nothing?
Many thanks.
ok, map works with second sim card, but doesn't work on first.
