No, but when I found this out, I started attaching files to e-mail! The only part that sucks, you cannot use phone!
Download GoSMS from the market if you don't already have it installed
(I've attached Screenshots for you to follow along)
Go to Settings, click the "Advanced" tab, scroll down and click "MMS settings"
Click on "Maximum MMS size"
Set to desired file size limit.
Hit the back button and make sure to check the box to "Preserve image resolution"
And BAM, your done.
Even though I have no 4g here in Phoenix AZ, I usually have it set to 2M. It usually takes a little longer to send on 3G but I can confirm that it does in fact send.

So i'm assuming picture size sent from iphone is too big for atrix to view so you click download in conversation screen, it says downloading, and nothing else. Where did it download it too?

Has anyone else had the, I guess problem, where when you send a text that exceeds one page, it now instead of sending it as one message send them as parts and recieves them as parts?

In the original post of the Eclipse thread it does say that it will split them after 160 characters.
Updated MMS.apk
-Set default notifications to always vibrate
-Set default to show full time stamps
-Set user agent to Bionic
-Set Back to all threads rather than taking you back to the home screen
-Set default to split msgs over 160 to send in multiple texts rather than mms.

Oh ok thanks. Didn't notice that. I've looked and I suppose there is no setting for that.
There should be. Atleast on 1.3 its like the fifth option down if you hit the squares button when you're in the messaging app.

Just curious what the benefit of setting user agent to bionic would be?
Sorry for the hijack
No clue, I went to GOSMS because of the messenger app but that was back in 1.1 or 1.2.

This was a setting that was implemented into 2.0.X. I would like the option to change the setting. I don't see that option in the settings anymore. I do remember seeing it prior to this update though... Hmmm...
Has anyone even tried switching the mms.apk from an older version?
Just rename the current one to .bak and push the old one to /system and reboot.
If it don't work just undo it ...worth a shot
Open the mms settings and change it back.

that setting isn't in there anymore ;(
Yeah I do not see any option in Eclipse 2.0.2 for turning off the split texts. But I can confirm that Third party SMS apps that have the option will send just one message.
Im looking to set my phone up as 3G only and wont switch to 1X. Any ideas?

Open the phone app, dial *#*#4636#*#*, then go to phone information, then scroll down and change CDMA Auto (PRL) to EvDo only, then you are done

Now is this good for when you want to do say a DL and don't want an interruption? I think evdo only should do it. You know how some browsers don't do calls and DLs well. Boat is good though.

I was looking.g for this as an app a while back. So I could tether in peace lol not data stopping due to calls and texts

Try it yet? I mean the change of settings.
I use it all the time no texts or calls come in while on evdo only. Makes tethering much more pleasant. Texts come in right after changing back to dual cdma/evdo only.
Now if I could figure out a shortcut to changing.
probably sent to from the middle of a lake in central Minnesota

Wonder if something like adw launcher ex that allows custom shortcut creation would let u create a shortcut to that somehow....
Doubt a launcher would allow to make a shortcut into those settings but then again I've never used that one before

I use a battery widget called Quick Battery for this. I've used it for a long time without any ill effects on the phone. Anyway, when you first add the widget to the home screen, it prompts you as to what activity you want it to launch when you press on the widget. Select testing and the widget becomes your shortcut to the Testing thing.
If you don't want to install a widget like that, there's an app called Any Cut that you can use to make a shortcut to it. Open Any Cut, select activity and then testing and you'll have your shortcut. If you use Any Cut, when you select activity, it will appear to not load anything in the list (does on mine anyway). The list is there. Just scroll down and the list will appear.
I'm sure you can do it with Launcher Pro too. I've never tried to find the command needed as it was easier to just go the route I did. If you use Launcher Pro, you might try long pressing the desktop and choosing shortcut/activities in the list. There's a lot of system stuff in there that you can select to create a shortcut for. I looked in there for this particular one but I didn't find it. There's a lot to look at though so I suppose I could have missed it in there.

So after using my phone for a while I noticed my pictures coming in at a rather disappointing quality and size. My phone sends them perfectly fine, but when receiving them, they come in at under 300kb . No matter who sends me the pictures, it always happens. So today i sent a picture to a friend with an att inspire, he received it at 379kb. I then sent the same picture to my phone and i receive it at 139 kb!!!! WTF!!! I have checked all my settings and everything is at 1000kb . I dont get it!!! Anyone else noticing this problem?
Somewhat of a fix!
Not sure if its a fix, but it fixed my situation. I was a faithful user of Handcent for my sms/mms duties, but then i realized....it was making matters worse than better. It would compress the pictures way smaller than what the stock sms app did. Long story short, I edited the default.xml file inside the ARHD 9.4 and made the mms settings in it like the ones inside a stock tmobile htc one. Then i downloaded go sms pro mess the mms settings, and wala. I am now able to receive pictures at a better quality than the stock sms app. For example a picture would come in at 410kb through the stock app, but then on the go sms app i would enable it and the same picture would come in at about 500kb. I guess this was my solution to this whole debacle. Still kind of stupid because i am able to send the pics at close to 1mb but receive them at around 400-500kb.
Under mms settings in go sms pro, select retain size and set the option or size to 1.2mb.
Also make go sms your default sms/mms app.
Should be good after this.

Can you show a screen shot of the picture you received and then size kb wise. That's where it will show the truth. I receive them too, it's on the quality where it shows the size.

pictures come in fine for me.
Ok pictures are coming in fine for me too, but at a miserable low size. To those saying that pictures are coming in fine, click on the picture and then on details and see what the incoming size is. Post screenshots please.

I have a slight problem. In my stock message app (not whatsapp), I can open, read and reply sms but I can't create new message. Also I can't open the settings in my message app. I have resorted to using another app for time being.
Does anyone know why this is happening. Hope there is a workaround before I do a factory reset to see if it solves the problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.
