MIUI rom...market crash..causes havoc AGAIN ! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not for the first time my phone has crashed using market app...very annoying as it has wiped all my widgets and drained the battery from 56% to 14% !!! :-[

Market version 3.4.4 is bugged on Gingerbread AOSP ROMs on SGS2. Have you tried the newest one (3.4.6 Google Play) or try to downgrade it to < 3.4.4 ? It should help.

Just trying latest market app...but how do you explain battery drain!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA

well well it's performed another great trick last night by turning itself off!!
I've had this issue before but it's not done it for a while...anybody else suffer from the same bloody issue?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA

freeze and reboot + battery drain was caused by using Market app in version 3.4.4 on MIUI. You have to update it to Google Play since the issue is fixed in the newest version.

Any customer rom can solve battery problem caused by OS?

Any customer rom can solve battery problem caused by OS? The problem can been seen from the pictures attached(the brightness is at lowest level and Os use cpu for 1h14m), it seems that still do not have a clear solution for this problem. So could I through flashing a customer rom to solve the os problem?
BTW, I am using ke7 now.

The "Android System" usage can be reduced by using Titanium Backup and Freezing stock Samsung apps that you don't use / need (ie. Social Hub, una service for Samsung apps, etc).
The Android OS usage issue I don't think there's much we can do about until either Samsung release a 2.3.4 android rom or someone manages to get AOSP CM7 ROM released because apparently it's a known Android bug for dual core phones....
many thx

your usage actually looks pretty normal to me. 13 hours unplugged with 4 hours screen-on time, 22% battery left. not bad at all. i didnt notice what the android OS CPU time was though to make any assessment of that.
I adding some detail u mentioned in the original post, does that help?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Ok well your CPU usage is low which is good and means you font have the issue that some others have. I wouldn't worry too much.
thanks

[Q] Help with phone being awake almost 100% of the time

As the title says, my p500 is awake almost 100% of the time. Even with the screen off (please look at the attached image).
The only apps running at startup (used Startup Manager app to check it) are Go weather, Maps, Market, Minimalistic text and Quick System Info Pro. On my home screen (Go Launcher EX) I use Go Weather, minimalistic text and Winamp widget, nothing else.
Is there somewhere I can look at or maybe some app I can install to see what is causing it?
I'm using Mik's CM7 6.5.5 and franco.kernel v16.1 bfs (this one gives me almost 30% more battery life than the newer versions) and running at 729/245mhz Smartass.
Uninstall maps and you'll be back in action
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
I can try that but I've always used Maps and it never happened before. Sure it eats some resources but I dont remember it causing the phone to be awake.
Uninstalled maps and phone is still awake.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Reflash the kernel. And I agree with you.I found the V16.1 better than the later updates

did u replace mobo thru lg service then this is solution...

PROBLEM SOLVED
I was planing on sending the phone to repair on monday, but at the time and with the phone here i didn't want to give up so i thought of rooting it and reinstalling the firmware, but nothing worked and the phone didn't recognize that it was connected to a computer. So i kept search other ways to reinstall the firmware and came across a website that talked about a "secret menu" code for the phones and i remembered that this phones must had one and that from there i could do something, i did. From there i did a factory reset and, unlike the ones i did before by going to settings-privacy, when the phone rebooted it told me right way that it was connected to the computer. I also tested the problem with the screen light and so far, so good.
So, if anyone else has this problem(sannielyk reportedly had) what i did was entering the "secret menu" code : 3845#*500# and did the factory reset from there.
Apparently it was a software problem or something that wasn't installed right by the lg service. But so far everything is good, and i hope it keeps that away.
Thanks for the help

I think I've found the villain. I started manual proccess of uninstalling apps and letting the phone sleep for an hour or so to check awake times. After I removed Live Holdem Pro the phone finnaly slept through an entire hour.
Still have to test through a complete battery cicle tho.

after i uninstalled it, my phone is a new phone
So why do you need help?

Yes, I have tried it. It helps when you do not use 3G/HSDPA. As soon as u enable internet and browse the net and after that disable the internet, the Fast Dormancy process starts to drain the battery again and again. Disabling the Fast Dormancy does not always work.
I swhitched to 2G and then it stopped draining the battery, but it is not the solution, as I can't live without 3G/HSDPA... Don't know what to do

Stop GpsLocationProvider

Hi.
How can we stop GpsLocationProvider?
I've stopped the app that was using GPS but GpsLocationProvider it's always on preventing my phone to enter deep sleep and thus being responsible for the battery drain.
Is the only solution to restart the phone?

Hi.
No. Just killing this "service" after using GPS so it stops eating battery. And when I turn my GPS app it will work as expected.
Now I restart my phone and it stops draining my battery...

It happens exactly the same to me!!! I'v tried several kernels but its same. Once you use gps, even if you disable it, gpslocationprovider gives partialwakelocks and ends up draining your battery. So far rebooting its the only solution(???), does any one know more about this bug??? I tried to make some research and it seem to happen in other CM celphones
by the way, im using miks 6.5.8
Same here with perfectpeso 1.4
I'm having same problem too.
I'm notice even not the GPS on; or sometimes I'm on my 3G.
not sure when it's come on this awake status when checking through:
betterbattstat:
GpsLocationProvider
and it's eat up a lot of battery.

Or is it just after enabling/disabling gps?

Not Google maps directly but one app that probably uses them (CardioTrainer).
But I believe that when using Ndrive problem still occurs and this app does not use Google maps.
Forgot to say I'm using Andys ROM.
As was already said, after rebooting problem disappears

After using iGO navigasion.
Google Maps- i'm directly Freeze it using Titanium backup as I know it's consume a lots battery.
however, I also reboot, and the problem gone.
Hi vic1978vic,
your ROM is
ROM: PerfectPeso v1.4 + OBB fix
Kernel: ta-gb-1.0
Baseband: OBB
do it really better than cyanogen 6.5.8 ?
Device: LG-P500

I had this in the past, from now on, I never turn the GPS off and it's solved.
You could think that it's would drain battery, but it doesn't.

I didn't try 6.5.8. This is my first custom ROM. All I can say is that is better than stock froyo 2.2.2
Mine was stock froyo 2.2.1
my first custom ROM is Mik 6.5.5 then 6.5.8
you are true; better than stock.
I'm asking because thinking whether want to change to NBB first and update Custom ROM; since nowadays more and more Custom ROM are in new baseband rather than old baseband
Also happens on Samsung Phones with CM10.
I get this, and I never use GPS. Any fix? Thank you.

Boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and fix permissions. If that doesn't help, download BetterBatteryStats and see if apps are causing kernel wakelocks (not letting your phone go into deep sleep) meaning keeping it awake and using CPU.

Without any other information this history information is absolutely useless. If there is any problem at all you can solve it by doing what themadba suggested in post #3.

Samsung S2 battery problem!!

Hello, so Ive just updated my Samsung s2 to the nexus ROM 4.2.2 and the battery is doing just fine, the problem is when I lock my phone, the battery runs out like if I was using it normally. I've tried setcpu app but it doesn't seem to work. For example yesterday at 12 am my battery was at 40% and I slept for a few hours than I woke up at 5 am and my phone was already off. I didn't have this problem on jb 4.1.2. Please I need help! Thank you
I'm not sure..... I don't seem to have that problem.

Install Better battery stats from Android Apps & games section. Enable watchdog in settings, then check out if any app is waking up during sleep!! On JB for me battery drain on sleep is quite low!
OK I'll try but if it doesn't work, I might change my ROM so which one do you recommend me for the s2?
