Does anyone know what version of AVRCP our phones come with (any rom)?
I have a stereo system that supports AVRCP 1.3 (allows music tags including song and artist to be transferred), and streaming music works fine, but I don't see any tag information displayed.

I would guess an old one. HTC bluetooth software has always been behind. Thought it seems the one series will have bluetooth 4.0. Hopefully that will get ported over.

Unlikely. Part of Bluetooth 4.0 is BLE which would require change to the radio itself.. ie.. hardware change, not software. The One series has a number of hardware differences that won't be portable, another is the HTC Sense Chip/

Are there any apps available for the Atrix to play audio over a mono bluetooth headset? I have tried the Super BT Mono Froyo and BTMono apps from the android marketplace and have not been able to get them to work.
Any suggestions (Besides using an A2DP headset)?
I 2nd that! Device not usable to me w/o this option. I've been able to enable this with all my other devices for the last 4 years at least. Not allowed to have both ears covered at work, BT hands-free only option to listen to podcasts at work. Makes 10 hour days seem like forever since I got Atrix and lost this ability. Not sure how many others willing to pay for this, but I would commit a large donation for sure to anyone who has the ability to get something working on the Atrix.
I'd love to findng something that does this as well. Any thoughts?
BTMono works well for me, but I wish Android would support it natively.

I tried btmono but it didn't work for me. What's the version of your android?
It was actually a feature on the stock Froyo build but for some reason it disappeared when I switched to GB. I've always thought it was just my headset though. I had a Plantronics Explorer but I lost it around the time I switched so I don't know if that was the issue.

My bluetooth will connect to my car to answer phones calls but as far as being able to play pandora after rooting I having been able to do that.
I think the AOSP roms are the only ones that correctly implement the latest blue tooth stack. HTC uses an older and broken implementation. If blue tooth means that much to you, I would try looking a non sense rom

I have an AOSP ROM, I can talk through the bluetooth in my car but I cant play music like I did when I had stock. I am planning on flashing some different ROMs on my 8 days off this coming week, I dont like running into problems while I am at work and then I get busy. I will report back to see if any other AOSP ROMs work and which dont. As of right now
Th3ory's ROM I have listed - Talk ( yes ) Music streaming ( no )

For what it's worth, I can listen to music on the latest stable CM7 using imo's latest kernel using various music players. I use a bluetooth stereo headset. Bluetooth stack is located in the kernel only I believe. Perhaps try a different one?

I did download a different Kernel on my phone, will prob flash that before I switch ROMs just to see if I can get better battery life before I restore Th3ory's 1.3.1 AO5P. I was getting way better battery life on 1.3 than I am getting on 1.4 I hadto switch to battsaver on speedtweak to get the same about of battery I do on 1.4 that I use to on 1.3.

It fails for things like the PS3 Controller and I've seen people saying they can't get a keyboard to sync. However if you read my post I said HTC, not aftermarket modified kernels based on sense . Good to know that it was fixed by porting and patching things though. I never tried bluetooth on it until recently so I couldnt say from experience how it was on a sense rom
I flashed a different kernel and now I can play music in my car. On same rom listed.

His car has bluetooth support built into it most likely. Many new cars do.
I have Bluetooth support built into my car, but I have not figured out how to do anything besides a phone call. Is there an app that you are using?

You should probably read the owner's manual for your car if you have not. Not to pull a RTFM on you
Just guessing it probably says how to do it and it varies by car.

It should work. It works with my girlfriend's dInc with CM7. If its like her car, you can't set it up unless the car is parked.
I have searched the past threads and did not see any about bluetooth audio issue. I have 2 plantronics headsets that both Paired properly paired 2XXPlantronics and a 220Plantronics. I am on stock GB. Is there an app or setting that I am missing to push all audio through the bluetooth? I tried super Mono but that just stopped audiop playback on my X2 and did not give me any audio through my headset. I have tried with both headsets. Thanks in advance. I think after some review this is a gingerbread issue but with all the developers hear I am hoping there is a fix or some can come up with a fix.
The headsets must support media audio in addition to phone audio. This has been the case since day one. If your headset only supports phone audio, it won't for example pay music. Don't know if anyone has tried tweaking the bluetooth stack to get around this, but the limitation has existed since before smartphones came around.

Anyone got the (stock) fm radio to go over BT?
I use a Plantronics 3XX. On my old HTC Touch Pro II, I could play music thru it with a particular setting in WM 6.5 and I think even WM 6.1 had it too. My thoughts are that it's more an Android issue regarding routing.
[EDIT] - I found on Market an app called Bluetooth Switcher for $2.99 that might work. There is also a FREE trial version for you to try out before making a purchase to see if it works on your hardware.
Bluetooth Switcher trial
Just tried it. Opens and has on/off buttons. It does nothing.
I use a Plantronics pro+.
Yes my headsets have worked with an HTC Imagio (Windows modile 6.5) and on my Dell laptop. I am thinking it is an android issue as well. I tried a friends out whos earpiece had A2DP and it worked fine but I already have a bluetooth headset and do not want to spend any more money. Thanks for all of your responses thus far.

Iirc you must have a regular 3.5 mm jack in to listen to the radio.

You have to have a headset plugged into it because it uses the cord as an antenna. No internal antenna. My Sansa MP3 player's FM radio works the same way.
Now, you can use the speaker on the phone for the radio once you have a headset plugged in. So maybe there's a way to route it thru BT if you have a headset for an antenna.
There is an apk called media switch (pro). It may work but mkt says incompatable w/ dx2. I tried the email purchase but it failed. Mkt does not know what works on MY dx2 as it also said spb shell 3d was incomp. But it works *****great-****. I had to do the email buy.
So The linux bluetooth stack for android (Bluez) now supports AVRCP 1.3 but my EVO 3D still does not..there is something wrong with that picture. How do I make this happen? I have a Prius with a head unit that supports AVRCP 1.3 and i need to see my track data on my head units screen. I know one solution is switching to Cyanogen Mod which has already updated to AVRCP 1.3, but is there a way to simply upgrade the bluetooth stack without rooting and going to Cyanogen? please help, kind folk!
I am interested to know if I can simply upgrade to the latest Bluetooth driver by replacing /system/app/bluetooth.apk and /system/app/bluetooth.odex?? If so, where can I find the files?
I am NOT able to control my Play/Pause using my current Bluetooth.apk... and Skype does NOT recognise my Bluetooth microphone even though I can hear Skype through my Bluetooth earpiece.
I'd be interested in this too. From a little research though it seems that no Sense roms support AVRCP 1.3 or 1.4?
wow, it's so strange that this is here. Did you all just buy a Bluetooth car receiver or something? I did
I can control stuff but metadata does not show up on the display. NOT COOL. Anyway to update it?

Got a new car with bluetooth built in and it'd so much cooler if the song name would at least display on the dash. (AVRCP 1.3) From a little research it seems that you would need to unlock and install a rom that does not have sense, cyanogen should work. I have not tried yet as I'm just too lazy to reinstall a rom and learn a new launcher.
So I use my car head unit to listen to Google play music. When playing a song the song info shows up fine for the first second then it changes to unknown then after a little the song info cones up again.
Does this happen for anyone else?

THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 2013 Ford Edge This is very irritating. However the one thing I noticed on my GNex with 4.3/4.2 (Roms) was that either you could have the text messages read to you or have the music info, but not both.

Same with my G2 with my aftermarket Sony BT stereo. My Rezound and Note 2 work fine with it on Google Play Music. I'm hoping it's just an update that needs to be sent.
I dont use Play Music, but I do use Slacker and Pandora.
On my Gnex, track information was never working until Android 4.3. My G2 acts the same way that my Gnex did on 4.2.X - you see "unknown" for track, album and artist.
I dont see it working correctly on the G2 until 4.3 is on it either. No fault of LG, it looks like bluetooth is something Google messes with every OS update, "fixing" and "breaking" stuff at the same time.

This also happens for me! I haven't really noticed it with the stock music app. But it definitely happens when using slacker or Pandora. The only thing to help it is to leave my phone plugged in so that the screen stays on since I have that set in developer settings. Then it will update without me having to pause and replay it to send the data. Also the Pandora app control mode in my pioneer xbh5500 doesn't connect with the phone app. So I have to stream it through pure Bluetooth mode. Which is quicker, just I can't thumbs up or down and pick stations through the stereo touch screen.

This is the one thing that Ive always missed in my car being streamed from the phones. But I put most of the fault on the OS, and the rest of it on the fact that I think its impossible to ensure that every piece of hardware implements it exactly the same. At best its a crapshoot and eventually the puzzle pieces fit and it starts working.
With my Gnex, 4.1 in my car would show a menu button but thats it. 4.2 would show a menu button and "Unknown" for track, title and artist data. 4.3 now shows all of the data (but there is another issue introduced that causes the phone to reboot on re-connection)
AFAIK there have been 2 full re-writes of the bluetooth stack in Android 4.x, so clearly Google wont leave well enough alone or realizes its an issue. While Im sure LG stuff on top of that doesnt help, I dont think the bulk of the issue is with LG as much as it is with the OS underneath.

Interesting. The bluetooth pairing seems spotty on my Toyota Venza 2010 (it will just all of a sudden pause and not pass the song names to the receiver). We did rent a Hyundai and it seemed to pair and run without any issues. This is really frustrating, about to return the phone too...

My understanding from it is that the stock player(s) will work because they were written by the same folks that wrote the bluetooth drivers for the phone (LG, in this case, Samsung in the case of my Gnex). But Slacker, Pandora, etc. probably conform to a different standard, since they cant possibly write the app to work with every different brand of bluetooth device.
And again, add on top of that the fact that Android OS might not be implementing it correctly, and you have a fuster cluck of a moving target.
I do believe it will be corrected, eventually....after 2 yrs it finally got working on my Gnex with 4.3, and I think the G2 will get 4.3 someday so we should see a fix.

I'm even weirder. I have a Panasonic head unit and sometimes it shows a ringtone from someone who called me yesterday, sometimes it shows a song that was on Slacker 4 days ago, and so on. I mostly listen to Slacker or Google Play Music.
My GNex never showed anything even after 4.3
Thank you all for reporting this. I have a HTC One running 4.3 and I use BT a ton. It all works perfectly and I've been thinking of getting the G2 but given these issues I'm definitely not getting it.
Definitely seems to be an issue with G2. On my HTC both on 4.2 and 4.3 Play Music sends proper data to my car and stereo Bluetooth. Controls work perfectly too

I'm fine with the quality and don't care about artist info, but it WON'T AUTO PAIR.
I have to manually click my car stereo icon from the bluetooth menu to initiate pairing. After that, it works fine. Not exactly a deal breaker, but man is it annoying to remember.
Also, Viper4Android is pretty incredible. I had no issues with the sound quality coming from an S3, but after Viper I can never go back. It's that good.
