Hi,
I dont have my Prime rooted. I updated to version .15 several weeks (?) ago. I am from Europe where these update works without issues. Anyway that was some time ago but two days ago my Prime started to dropping wi-fi connections every 5-10 minutes. Extended controls widgets says "Wi-fi Interface disconected". In setting it shows me the full signal, but it is just disconnected and I cannot connected back. Everytime I have to disable and enable wi-fi to make it run again.
Any idea what causes this? Thanks!
I've been getting sth similar at times, even having to reboot to get a stable wifi again to solve "No Internet Connection" and being unable to see any access points. Thought it was just my Prime....

Yes I have to reboot all the time. It is ok for you already??
Not much problems the past couple days but very tempted to do a factory reset!

A factory reset can solve all kinds of odd software glitches. Let us know if it resolves this issue.

Problem 1. Many times, I will pick up my NT after it has been sitting idle for a number of hours, and wifi simply will not connect. I try to turn it off and back on in the settings, but it says it is unable to turn wifi off. I power cycle the device and it works again. This will happen on an almost daily basis.
Problem 2. Once wifi is working, certain websites will not load, or will load just once and wont' load again for hours. For example, I bookmarked these forums, and I check them often for updates. I wasn't having any problem at all until the last couple weeks. I'm rooted with google apps, i'm using the original browser. A few moments ago, I loaded the big list of forums. It worked fine. I clicked on THIS forum, however, and it would no longer load. I can browse the forums on my Droid Charge, my Desktop PC, my iPad and my girlfriend's iPhone 4s, so I know the website is not down, and it's a problem with the NT only. Other websites on the NT work fine. I can run the Speedtest app on the tablet with no problems. I can run wifi analyzer. This problem even occurs on Dolphin Browser.
I'm about to just do a factory restore again and give up on rooting for now. This was the same problem that made me restore a few weeks ago. The browser just becomes borked after being rooted for x amount of time.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Just an update: After factory restoring using it for a while, and then re-rooting, I've noticed that problem 2 has never re-occurred. I'm not certain what was happening. Very strange. I reproduced the problem over and over before posting. I even tried resetting my router and modem just in case.
Problem 1 persists. Rebooting always fixes the problem temporarily, but if the device goes to sleep for a few hours whether charging or not, it will almost always need a reboot. I always try to turn wifi off and back on, but the device is unable to disable wifi during this issue. I never noticed this problem while the device was unrooted, though I'll admit I didn't keep it stock, unrooted, very long.
I'm rooted and I don't have either of the problems you mentioned. I use the dolphin browser exclusively. I'd definitely go back to stock and then re-root.
Been rooted a week. Use Dolphin-Mini and little on no trouble. WiFi seems to reach pretty far. I sometimes need to restart if idle a while.
I have not had any issues with wifi.
It's you. I have yet to have an issue with wifi. Netflix amazon player, dolphinhd etc.. all hage worked almost flawlessly
I've experienced Problem 1, where I'll need to reboot wifi after leaving my rooted Nook idle overnight, a couple of times. But it's only happened 3 or 4 times to the dozens of nights I've left it on overnight. Otherwise, I haven't experienced Problem 2 or any other issues connecting to the internet using wifi. My Nook seems rock solid in that department.

Same Here.
I am having the same problem 1 the past two days or so. I have sideloaded amazon app store, GO Launcher EX, the Nook app manager and several sideloaded apps from the amazon store. Also running ZD Box.
I will have the wifi just go out with the same message, I turn off and back on and its fine. I figured its one of those issues that will be cleaned up with the next update.
My son has a Nook Color still on software 1.3 and he has had it once or twice.
I am having the same problem with the Nook needing to be rebooted after sitting idle. I am rooted but I don't know if this was a problem while the device was unrooted because I only had it for about a day before rooting. Could it be Go Launcher causing the problem? Because it sounds like the poster above me isn't even rooted.
I leave wifi on 24/7, but only have my NT associated with my home network and my mifi. I have not had any issues reassociating with either of my networks after sitting in my backpack all day.
Wifi so far works great for me.
I've had my NT for over a month now, and no problems with wi-fi. My wife's 1st Edition has to be rebooted and charged up to 100% to get the wi-fi to work right. I think her problem is she keeps letting the device run down to well below 50% before reconnecting to the charger. Less power- less signal strength, I guess.
There are a couple of free apps in the market that might help you. WiFi Analyzer will pick up all the nearby signals and reporrt their strength. You can walk around your premises and see how well your router is reaching various areas.
Just a thought.

Power-saving settings to blame?
I've seen this during three weeks of using my NT. It's not a new problem.
I used an iPaq on my home wifi for years and noted that when I enabled power saving on the wifi NIC on the iPaq, it would get stupid and lose throughput completely from time to time. I'd have to cycle the connection to get it back.
Sounds familiar.
I had it happen sporadically with my NT.
Since BN did my OTA update to 1.41 a week ago, I have not seen this happen.
I don't think sideloading is the cause since I noted this very early on in using the Nook before I sideloaded it.
I believe this is an unfortunate implementation glitch with a lot of wifi NIC's and access points, and not unique to the Nook.
No problems with mine which is rooted. Wifi works great.

My grouse with the NT's wifi is that it seems to be pretty "weak" - signals that my laptop and Nokia N8 could find and connect aren't even visible on the Nook Tablet. That's rather inconvenient.

I've had the opposite experience, In basements and rooms where my phone or notebook have spotty access, the NT has held on like a champ.
This sounds more like a "my router and my NT don't play nice" which is a problem that I have had with my mothers Iphone and my own Droid 3. I changed some settings on the router and it worked for the iPhone, and setting a static IP helped my phone.
A widget to switch wifi on and off quickly is recomended, so that you can "reboot" your wireless. So to speak.
Its also possibly your device is defective? Try it with the wi-fi at work or at school and see if it has better stability.

Man, I haven't even thought about the iPAQ in years. I used to use one all the time until I bought my first smartphone. I had to Google it after you brought it up just for a quick trip down memory lane.
I have power save enabled on my NT and still am not having this problem at all; however, my battery is not getting below 75%. Are you guys maybe seeing this problem after the battery drops to a certain percentage, or is it all the time?
EDIT: I will also point out that if you look at the B&N Nook Forums, other Nook models like the Simple Touch are known to have wifi issues. I had a NST and it would absolutely refuse to get a DHCP address from my home router, so I would just connect it to my mifi when I had the odd occasion to need connectivity on it.
My NT is rooted and I have a similar problem but only with my router not not necessarily all routers. I just unplug my router and plug it back in and it reconnects with no problems. However, before I had my OTAs blocked, I got updated to 1.4.1 and the the issue was definitely fixed. However, that fix was not worth keeping the update. I am back to 1.4.0 and love my NT.
My NT has better wifi reception then my samsung Infuse.
I was wondering if one of you folks can help me out with a problem that my Flyer has now for a couple of weeks.
It started when my Wi-Fi Flyer started a bootloop after dropping the Wi-Fi signal. While sometimes my signal dropped before, I just rebooted my router to fix the problem.
This happened again 3 weeks ago while my Flyer was completely stock on Gingerbread, just the way I bought it. The normal procedure, did not help this time and I managed to boot in recovery, with no result. After a factory restore and install everything again it seemed to work fine for quite a while.
Then I upgraded to Honeycomb following the Globatron method, hoping that whatever the problem caused, was solved.
Just today after 2 weeks of using Honeycomb, the problem was back. After my Wi-Fi drops, it seems that my Flyer can not reconnect to my network again. Instead of this it boots again, but can not make a connection. As soon as the Flyer starts scanning for networks, it boots again.
While I am still a noob on this kind of stuff, I decided to ask the experts

Since I still not know what caused the problem, i found the solution. It seems that it just happens when the fastboot option in the settings is disabled. Not experiencing any problems so far with fastbootoption enabled
My wifi has been pretty good from the beginning. However, since updating to .21 I`m having problems. My wifi stays connected but every once in a while data stops coming in through the connection. I know it`s not the router because my other wifi devices are fine when this happens. The only solution is to turn off my wifi and then turn it back on. This problem is getting worse and worse over the last 2 days. Today I can barely use my Prime as the wifi keeps getting stuck*. Anyone else seeing this.
Jeff
Seems slower to me. Can't connect where I used to with out signal drop.

Try rebooting the router....It's a fix that works many of the times....don't know if it willl help your specific need....but easy to try
Bob
I've had similar problems, a bit annoying.
Would also like to see an option to auto download images in emails, also some glitches in the browser search.

I had tried rebooting the router already....didn't change anything. But following advice I received on another site I solved the problem. I did a hard reset, then I deleted the router from my wifi networks. Did another hard reset and then reconnected to my router. It seems to have worked. I did this a few hours ago and so far all is good.
Jeff
Ive searched the forums, googled, factory reset, messed about with *#0011# power save, rebooted/forgot router and I'm STILL having issues with the wifi dropping and reconnecting periodically (maybe once every 10/20 mins?) . Im on BLG8 which is as far as i can tell the latest firmware (im not rooted) for the UK.
Has anyone got a solution to this? The main reason is I use Skype a lot and the call will just drop (obviously) with the wifi drop outs.
No other device has issues with my wifi router.
Any help would be much appreciated
Cheers
Does it make any difference how far you are from the router? Does it always connect fine initially?
I'm having the same issue and i've tried every fix that has been suggested. I dont understand after spending the amount of money i did on this phone that i have to run through the dialer to get it to work properly sometimes. Then other times it still drops out and wont come back on for 5 to 10 minutes. I've changed roms, kernels, and wiped completely i dont know how many times and went back to stock. Still works sometimes and hangs up others. There doesn't seem to be a permanent fix for people lucky enough to have this issue still. My 30 day return is way up and gone so i cant send it back. Samsung cant seem to give me an answer. I'm at a loss for words.

My 30 days was up, it's still been replaced under warranty. I took it to CPW who sent it away, it came back 'fixed' so I asked them to log into their WiFi... of course, they couldn't and the guy said he would order me a new phone but it would need to come from Samsung. My new one has blazing fast WiFi!
i have the same problem. i was hoping a new rom would fix it, but FWIR its busted. i get 2 bars MAX no matter how far i am from teh router. its fast enough, but it drops out constantly.
also my screen is sometimes slow to turn on from sleep.
im on vodaphone if that makes any difference.
Guys... I had a very similar problem with my phone.
First of all WiFi became very unreliable.. like yours. I changed ROM and it still persisted. I even went completely back to stock.. and it still persisted. Dropping out.. no reliable connection etc etc.
Then it started being really weird.. the touchscreen started responding intermittently. Sometimes I couldn't get it to unlock. And this was all on stock.. no root etc.
I was ready to send it back to be repaired.. and I came to the conclusion that there must be something staying the same.. even after a wipe / reflash. Maybe one of the other partitions was corrupt???
Now I'm not clever enough to investigate.. but I did come to the conclusion that a repartition may wipe everything and make it a real fresh install next time.
So I found an appropriate .pit file and stock ROM and used Odin to flash the ROM and partition the phone.
And it is now all fully functioning again.. no WiFi issues at all.
RTFM THO FFS! Potential for complete brick if you get it wrong

just..want..to..delete this post.........and I can't...so there is now filler here....GG k thx bai
It seems to have improved with the latest JB leak, still every now and then but certainly better - i did a full factory reset + cache wipe in stock recovery (im unrooted etc). Still, would a modified kernel/modem fix this very common issue?
This problem is everywhere it seems.
OK so really weird update: my screen unlock is still a bit slow, but my wifi hasnt dropped for a few hours. i went through all the vodafone crap and updated/ran/configured it all, and now it seems fine. seemed vodafone wanted to verify my phone+sim details but couldnt over the wifi so kept trying to do it over the 3g, but couldnt do it quickly enough so the wifi cut it back out again. I have a headphone amplifier that is very sensitive to mobile phone signals. it beeps 4 seconds before i get a message or phonecall, and "ticked" at me whenever my wifi dropped out. its not ticked in hours.
TL;DR anyone on vodafone, run your "my vodafone" application and configure it all. might fix it.
Mine drops wireless a lot when connected to wireless A networks. It seems stable on wireless N networks. Anyone else notice A networks to be worse?

hi,think the nexus 10 is a really good tab but ive had enough of poor wifi reception & rebooting all the time, has anyone else got these problems ? sometimes when im on the tab my wifi just disappears and other times especially when im upstairs in my house the wifi on this tab is very poor & the diifrence between this and my ipad 3 are like night & day which never drops connection or disappears entirly, and then theres the reboot problem that continues to bug this tablet ive had this at least 5 times since owning this & thats only a week or 2 old, anyway a replacement is on the way after phoning helpline so hopefully the next tab will be a bit more stable & would suggest u do the same if your getting these problems
forgot about charging aswell it takes hours for this to charge up
stuck on charge one morning at 0900 and still wasnt charged at 1300, 5hrs to charge whats that all about ???
My wifi is fine. But I have noticed the device reboots quite frequently. This usually happens because Chrome freezes. I hope Google sends out a fix.

so often?? mine hasnt rebooted once on its own in 2 weeks ... I think its not OS issue as much as an app issue. might want to check your apps. oh and I have a bunch goin on... web, you tube, music, movies, games.... this thing is solid....
oh and wifi I dont have issue with either... hows your wifi connection for other devices??
Of course it's an kernel/OS issue. Chrome isn't issuing a reboot command, and unless you've rooted your tablet it wouldn't be able to able to reboot your tab if it wanted to anyway!
I had both wifi and reboot issues, and solved both by installed CM10.1.
hi,im off to tnt tonight to pick up my replacement tab as they tried to deliver today when i was at work, dont get me wrong i think this tab is brilliant but the wifi on it is shocking,i can go upstairs in my property with the nexus and it drops to 1 bar and my apple ipad 3 is full bars so i would say the nexus has serious wifi issues and rebooting on its own should just not happen to a £300 + gadget,im not holding my breath with the replacement doing the same **** & to let u all know google know about these reboot problems as the agent on the phone said so,will let u all know how i get on with the replacement fingers crossed
mine too kept rebooting a few days back
My old Nexus 10 kept rebooting. When I got my new Nexus 10 (got a replacement for a different issue) I turned off all location services and I haven't had a single reboot yet.

Since the Wifi is baked into the kernel, it's (reboot) probably due to the wifi losing connectivity. I haven't been able to use Wifi on DHCP since 4.2.1 due to the known bug. To resolve this, I have use static IP and that solved my random reboot issue and wifi connectivity issue.
BTW, once you get into that wifi stuck in authentication or "obtaining IP address" loop, that means your wifi profile is broken. The only solution that has so far been about 75% successful is to wipe the davlik-cache but you need to install CM or TeamWIN bootloaders to do this work successfully.
