[Workaround] External SD in ICS-based ROMs - Galaxy S II Android Development

Hello everone!
First of all: I know I do not post a new ROM here, and also I know that this isn't the usual way to clear things, I hope the mods can forgive me, I will explain why I start this thread.
First of all, the problem: As a lot of you noticed, when you try an ICS-based ROM like CM9 or any of those MIUI v4-clones, your external SD-card is gone. Normally you find all your data at /sdcard/external_sd/, and now you go to that folder with a file explorer to see that it's empty.
A lot of those guys now post in the threads of these ROMs complaining about lost data and stuff, sometimes getting an answer, sometimes not. The workaround is the same on all these ROMs, but most of the ROM devs do not add this fix to their start-postings.
As no one reads a full 300+-pages thread, the solution for this problem gets lost ("Didn't you read the solution on page 153?" ). This is why I start a new thread to link on, with a full tutorial, even pictures are added, yaaay.
Again: This is no new solution, I didn't code anything new.
-----
So this is how you do it:
First of all go to this thread and download the apk for Directory Bind. Install it.
This app was built to move data to your external SD to get more space on your internal memory, we use this app in a different way.
When you use a file explorer with root permissions, you will see that your external SD can be found at /mnt/emmc/. This folder is unhandy to use, as most applications aren't built to access any directories outside /sdcard/ (would need root permissions). [I once saw a ROM where the external SD was mounted to /mnt/ext_sdcard/, if that's the case in your ROM, just do it the same way ]
So you start Directory Bind, tap on the menu button and add a new entry. Use these settings:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As you see, all data that's in /emmc/ (do NOT forget the slash at the end!) should get mounted to /sdcard/external_sd/ (again: don't forget the slash). Do NOT tick the "Transfer files from target to data"-Button, as this would cause the whole external SD to be copied onto your internal memory!
After tapping "Add", you should see a new entry in your list of bindings. Tap on the disc-icon in front of that entry, so it becomes green:
If the icon becomes red, check if you have any spelling mistakes in the paths you used or if /emmc/ is the correct path for your SD-card [see /ext_sdcard/-issue above].
If all went well, tap the menu-button again and open the preferences. First of all enable the box at the top, saying "Bind on boot". I hope I don't have to explain why
Second, scroll down to the bottom and enable the "Alternate dbase mgmt"-Box. This isn't 100% neccessary, it can work without this option. I tested two devices and both had to have this option enabled to keep the settings after a reboot. To be sure, just enable it.
You can now close Directory Bind and check your /sdcard/external_sd/-folder again to see everything is there! Reboot to check if you were successful in the whole "bind on boot"-thing.
That's it, gl&hf with it

Thanks for this tip, work in AOKP Bezke 07/03/2012

My external sd is dead.can it survive by that method? I can't format it via window. I flash back and forth cm 9 and other ics custom ROM a few day later it dead and can't recognise by PC anymore.

When your sd-card is "broken", I don't think that this method will help. This DirectoryBind-thing is just a trick to point the /emmc/-folder to a more handy one, so it requires a working card in the emmc-folder.
If even your pc can't get the data, there is probably something wrong in the FAT of that card. I would try to format the card via your msdos-commandline or something, trying different filesystems and stuff.

Very, very, very, very great topic.
Now i´m very happy.
THANKS A LOT!!!

General info on how to format via msdos: http://www.ehow.com/how_6804027_format-sd-card-dos.html
Command line parameters: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/format.mspx?mfr=true

I tried this method and after binding it my phone re-installed all my apps, and when opening random apps it would pop up saying it was binding my directory. Astro and other file managers did not show the external_sd directory I linked emmc to so I finally just gave up and uninstalled it.

HELP
Hi.
Thanks a lot for the workaround.
I've done as you said and it worked - BUT - before the change I had a music folder filled with music in external_sd. After the bind, I don't see that folder anymore. It's not in external_sd.
I do see emmc in external_sd but not the original folders that were created in external_sd before bind.
Can you help me with this?
Thanks

tried this method,
realized I had snapped SD card in half the day before
fail

Tried this few times.. It works pretty good.. But the only problem is my gallery showing double images.. From emmc & external..how to hide one of it? Any suggestions?

you could try another gallery app called "QuickPic" ... there you can choose to don´t scan specified folders.

I think its super user related because mine works about 75% after reboot and when it doesn't I just need to open the app, click the icon so it turns green again (no typing required) and exit the app then it works again.
weird I know but I can live with that, only takes a few seconds to do

[dev] USB MASS STORAGE on Sony Tablet S!

Hi guys,
Just want you to know, that I've for first, successfully
started USB MASS STORAGE mode on Sony Tablet S!!!
Without any additional software!
That USB MODE is not even available in system settings,
system notification on the device says:
"Connected as an installer" lol.
Gonna figure everything out, to be an easy to use
...and most probably I will add this feature in next AiO

Sorry, but you completely missed the point. With Condi's AIO Tools you may spoof the device for system update to see it as an older firmware, it's also a part of a rescue-backdoor (but not the necessary part).

Doesn't UMS normally leads to new drives appearing on the PC's file explorer, like while inserting an USB key?
In the case of the tablet, one drive for the internal SD card, another for the external one if there's one inserted...
The "gadget" link shown by your screenshots is neither what we expect for a MTP link. It reminds me what I see when connecting a device in fastboot mode.
But well... We will know all the story in next AiO!

OK then, for example - show me how you are working with your external SD on MTP mode, of course without taking it out and putting in card reader?
It will be also helpful for Linux and Mac OS users.
The 'gadget' is just as I expected to be.
Also 'gadget' reminds me a nice cartoon from my childhood - inspector gadget

Oh Nesquick - one more example Try to open some file directly from 'mtp drive' - some .doc etc, modify it, and try to save it. You will not.
Its been copied to tmp dir, no 'direct access'.
Thats why I hate MTP mode.
Current state of my USB Mass Storage mode is which needs one reboot after running. Im trying to find the solution for direct change.
If we would have kernel access, then it would work already..
But we dont. To be continued

Condi, I've no trouble with MTP... Or should I say, I've the same troubles as anybody else. Horrible on my Linux platforms, slow, uneasy to use and even worst whith my Nexus which has no SD card slot.
What I tried to say when looking at your screenshots was they aren't looking like something known : no drive on Windows explorer, no Sony tablet device, just the "gadget" link. Your video later shows an E:\CONDISD showing that you've win the race.
As I was saying, the "gadget" link appears when I connect something in fastboot mode to my PC (in the USB menu of my VirtualBox Windows XP VM to be precise) and I was thinking that you may have put your finger on some low level USB thing (showed by the tablet as an installer!) which could open some perspectives.
Of course, I know that you're the first here to see exploitable perspectives and one of the only people here able to do something with them but who knows...
By the way, I'm thinking of an adb based file explorer. No time to do it myself but many people have already done it. Just google "adb file explorer" and choose the one that best match your needs.

[TUT]Move All Installed Apps To SD Card

3)Connect the phone using USB cable and do not enable USB storage mode.
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and enable USB debugging.
Make sure you also check install from unknown sources option.
4)Start terminal window on your computer (on Windows: click Start, type “cmd” and press Enter).
5)In the terminal window, navigate to this folder : C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools by default.
Check C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools if you’re using a 32-bit version of Windows.
6)Run the adb devices command and you should see your connected Android device.Enter : adb devices
7)Enter : adb shell pm set-install-location 2
(If this command doesn’t work try using the “old” command: pm setInstallLocation 2)
8)If you want to revert this change later and install apps to the internal storage by default, run this command: adb shell pm set-install-location 0
( 0 represents your device’s internal storage, and is the default. 2 represents the external storage, whether it’s an SD card or USB storage. )
9)If the process is sucessfully completed,you will get a new prompt in the cmd window.Reboot and start moving the apps.
A Warning:Some apps shouldn’t be installed to your SD card and should remain installed on the internal storage. The external storage is unavailable when your Android device is mounted on your computer, so apps that remain running all the time should be left on your internal storage.

Couple more Qs:
1) Just to be clear... the method mentioned above " install app to SD card" means installing to the USB storage in SG S2 right? (I just noticed that this the SONY area...I thought the problem would be universal for all android?)
2) Except for the system apps, can't you just move the apps that you get from the market to the USB storage (SD card folder) by going to setup>applications.....move to SD card ?? I thought going through the setup moved the app files to the USB storage anyway. Then why go through the ADB? Is it just for the convenience of not have to move the apps individually one by one?
3) So, there's no way to install the apps directly to an external SD (miro SD)?

CHEERS!
i did this trick, i cross checked the default install location to 2. it shows fine. but i want to ask that do all the files of an installed program get installed on the sd card? I mean is it complete and full installation of an application on the SD card or some program files will get to internal memory also and rest would be in the sd card?
I factory reset my spice mi-280 android 2.3 version phone and tried this trick, but as i am installing an application, my internal memory is getting filled up little by little as i install more apps.
Some part of the app obviously remains in the internal memory.These are the important files need to start the app and run it without bugs.As you must have seen in the case of games,most of it is transferred to the SD card but some part remains in the internal storage.The tutorial enabled the remaining apps to move part of the installed app to the SD card so as to make space in the internal memory.
Hope it helped.

Thanks so much for posting this. I am just a regular kind of phone user, without much knowledge on Android, etc.
When I saw on my phone that I could not "get rid of" Facebook I was disappointed with my ST15i.
Don't get me wrong, the phone is far and away better than any other phones I have owned.
I am going to test out your method and see if it will allow me to control apps like I had hoped when I originally bought the phone.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
P.S. Maybe you could point me in the right direction on my own goals.
{I should note I am not a person who does not try to find out how to do something, but I don't even know the right search terms to begin to look....To crunch through 1000s of replies and guides would get too much}
Would you please take a look at my post and tell me if what I am wanting to do could be even done? I am not looking for a lengthy explanation, just to know that "yes,it can be done" or "no,it can't be done" {unless I am willing to figure out a lot of complicated stuff and most likley brick my phone (which I cannot risk doing }

I was afraid you might say that
Honestly, it is so easy and inexpensive to switch SIM cards here, that to have 2 numbers to separate work & personal life, seemed a no-brainer.
A new number costs me less than $4.....and gives me access to a 3G network + GPS. No contract. Pay as you go....
I am beginning to take a look at where the overlaps/shares are occuring. It seems to me {in my limited knowledge} that the key here is the actual phone number & possibly, the IMEI #. How to route data by setting up the phone to switch from one set of storage/files/settings to another is not yet apparent...Will keep trying..
Thanks Anivesh

After some reading, it appears what I am trying to accomplish may not be as difficult as I first thought.
I am thinking of a Dual Boot scenario with 2 different Sim + SD combinations...
The OS would basically be 2 slightly different versions of Jelly Bean...
The difference may only end up being coding/setting where info & folders are stored on each SD card...

Im running a HTC HD2 with ICS 4.0.3, and my laptop is a Win 7 Pro 32 bit.
I've disable the root, enable the USB debugging, Enable ADB over network, and Allow mock location.
However, i failed to find the "Make sure you also check install from unknown sources option" on the Settings -> Applications MENU...
So how do you advice i go about this???

Try finding that option in the security menu in settings or you can google it.It is very easy to find(I am currently on JB and don't remember exactly where it appears in ICS).

[Guide] LG Optimus L5 E610/E612/E615/E617 Rooting [Guide]

LG Optimus L5 E610/E612/E615/E617 Rooting Guide
Introduction:
Q). What is “Rooting” ?
A). “Rooting” your device means obtaining “superuser” rights and permissions to your Android's applications.
Requirements:
1). A completely charged LG Optimus L5 E610/E612/E615/E617.
2). My Root Package (Attached Below)
3). “IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk” (Attached Below)
4). LG USB Drivers
EDIT: APK FILE HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE POST. I HAVE NOT ADDED IT TO THE ROOT PACKAGE.
NOTE: Drivers are only available for "MAC OS" and "Windows"
5). This is an extra non-necessary requirement: If incase you run into trouble while rooting your android device, you can install ADB SDK from google's developer website. Hopefully, you won't need it because I have rooted my phone countless times without ADB.
Installation:
The installation part is very easy,
1). Firstly, go to “Play Store” and download and install “ASTRO FILE MANAGER”
2). Next, go to “System Settings” >> “Developer Options” >> “Enable USB Debugging”.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
NOTE: Your mobile should not be connected to the Computer while doing this step. You can connect the phone after USB DEBUG is enabled.
3). Next, go to “System Settings” >> “Security”” >> “Enable Unknown Sources”.
This is to allow the installation of the apk given in the root package.
4). Then copy the apk “IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk” in the root package to you SDCARD. You can do this by connecting your Mobile Device in “MTP – Media Sync Transfer Mode”.
5). Now using “ASTRO FILE MANAGER” go to “My Files 2” or “Local Storage 2” and install “IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk” into your mobile.
6). Change your mobile connection mode to “Charge Only Mode”.
7). Next you need to open the app after success installation. You will see a message “Hello World”. Now you need to reboot your mobile phone, you can do this by just holding the power button for almost 15 seconds, or you could use the power menu and restart the phone.
NOTE: The app should be kept open while rebooting.
8). Next, When the phone has completely rebooted, you must just run “root.bat” if you are using “Windows” or “root.sh” if you are using “Linux” or “root-mac.sh” if you are using “MAC OS”.
9). Open up your phone after the rooting process and your will find "Superuser" app in your phone. Your phone will be completely rooted.
NOTE: There is no way to unlock the bootloader for LG Optimus L5 E-Series, and hence no custom ROM's available. If I have helped you, kindly consider thanking me. It takes 5 seconds to press the thank button, but a week or so to setup the root package and guide.
NOTE: Most phones after rooting end up with issues with the software. For this after rooting, reset your phone and the root will still be there and all further issues will be resolved.
PS. I have stopped development on LG L5 Series.
UPDATE: Most of the phones now can be rooted/unlocked/flahsed using UNLOCKROOT/UNLOCKBOOTLOADER/UNLOCKFLASH
UPDATE: THE ROOT NO LONGER WORKS ON FIRMWARE 4.X.X

When the phone boots back, will the connection mode remain as “Charge Only Mode” or do we need to make it again?
Do we need to extract the archive to any specific folder in PC?

Can we use App2SD or Lind2SD such type of applications to move the apps to SD after rooting this? Or any other tweak to be done? Which is the best app for the moving the apps to SD that works in LG L5 E615?
Thank you so much for your effort.
You are most welcome enjoy the rooted phone, a tip: install BusyBox Pro and RomToolBox Pro and Titanium Backup Pro they will help you alot
Yes you need to do Step 6.
Also, after the APK is installed and RUN, you need to keep the APP open and restart the phone, I forgot to mention that in the guide.
You can use App2SD, you can try rom toolbox pro, it has multiple apps embedded in it, even app2sd modified to work mostly.
Once the phone's connection mode is changed, it will stay the same until u change it [That is if the default settings are not changed]
It's up to u where you want to extract, but the best is to Extract the Package to the DESKTOP
NOTE: The APK file is attached in the GUIDE POST.

You mean, no need of any thing process to move the app to SD.Will the option to move the app to SD come automatically after rooting?

Will this disable the sound? I see a video in youtube for rooting LG L5 E610/E612/E617 and some comments were there about sound issue. Like sound is working only when connected to headphone, otherwise some messed up sound only. Have you got chance to verify this?
Thanks.

Is there any way to unroot our phone (LG Optimus E612) once rooted?

Guyz, this is a modded version of the original root for LG E-Series, it has NO:
1) Sound Issues
2) Dual Sim feature issues - Dual Sim works 100%
Also,
1) You can use LINK2SD to move apps to SDCARD
2) You can unroot your phone --- Easiest way is to use an UNROOTING APP from appstore.
OR You can just put your phone in EDM mode and get a completely stock phone back
Thanx :good:

What if Factory reset is performed after ROOTING. Will the phone goes back to a stock phone, ie will the phone get UNROOTED?
I have seen the below method in a site: How true is this?
Hard reset instructions: - When the phone is switched off, press and hold the volume down key + power key with your left hand. - When the LED on the bottom of the phone lights up, release Volume down key + power keys and press and hold the Home key (for about 2 seconds) at the same time. - The phone will turn on and perform a factory reset immediately. - Do not operate your phone for at least a minute, while the hard reset is carried out. - You will be then be able to switch your phone back on.
Difference between hard reset and EDM is simple
Hard reset can be performed if your ROM is alright and not corrupted.
EDM helps flash ROM if in case you cant boot up your phone. It's like, if your bios is itself corrupted, EDM will help restore both bios and device firmware.

Unbrick Nook Tablet 16GB or Dead

Be Warned: Use at your own risk. I am not or anyone related to this method is responsible for anything that happens to your device.I have searched and tried mostly every single method out there to try to unbrick my Nook Tablet 16GB, will not work on 8GB, still working on it.. My tablet was having issues after I flashed CM10, my fault of not creating a back up. If tablet cannot boot to CWM, this will help.
1. Download these files that really needed for this process.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/74968242/NT_Toolbox_Alpha_0.5.0.0.zip
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/74968242/NTUnBrick.zip
2. Unzip “NTUnbrike.zip”, get a file named "NTUnbrike.img"
3. Then ,use Win2DiskImager, burn img into your sd card.
4. Open your sd card, copy folder usb drivers to your pc.
5. Connect the Nook via USB and run“驱动安装引导” from the sd card,it will help to update driver succefully. If that doesnt work, go to Control Panel, Device Manager, Scroll down to Other Devices or Portable Devices. If do not see "Nook Tablet" scroll to Universal Serial Bus Controllers, uninstall USB Mass Storage. Disconnect device and reconnect, try again to update driver. You have to see "Nook Tablet". If you see a "yellow warning /!\" sign on top of the "Nook Tablet" update the drive by right clicking it. Here is a link if you can't update drivers successful: https://nookdeveloper.zendesk.com/e...eloper-start-up-guide#_Install_NOOK_SDK_Addon. Go to section 4.1
6. Once that is done, Turn off Nook and put sd card in your Nook, connect via USB. The Nook will then show a brown box, then boot into CWM.
7. Run NT-toolbox.exe. Everything is in Chinese so will probably see a bunch of ????? or wierd letters, dont worry.
8. I have marked what needs to be clicked.
First hit "?????" circled on the pic.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Second hit "????" circled on this pic, wait for like 30 seconds.
Finally, if your drivers are correct, the following circled box will fill in, hit the circled "????" on this pic, wait until your Nook turns off.
The Nook will turn off and successful! Just boot for 10times, press power, when you see n, hold power button until your nt shut down, do this for 10 times!
This will make your Nook new, back to stock. Continue with reroot and flash your necessary ROMs desired.
To possibly fix Nook Tablet stuck at "Read Forever" screen,
1. Boot into CWM.
2. Go to Mounts and Storage
3.Unmount all the options.
4. Reboot System.
5. Sit back and wait!
You are done!
I want to thank Mab100% from China and his partners of devs on helping me unbrick my Nook without a headache. This has been written by centenj. Any questions PM me. If it worked for you please dont forget to hit THANKS.

Im happy it worked for you. Is there anything I have to update on the first post to make it easier on the brothers. I had the same issue with the drivers and I had to go to BN.com to make it work. It is so much to explain updating the drivers but I think I can make a video for others to enjoy.
Not actually. I think it's clear enough. But you can set a link to one other existing thread that explains how to fix drivers .
And you can tell that roting files are also on the sd card

Be sure to keep checking the first post for updates. Just added a website to update your drivers if you are having issues.
Stuck At Read Forever
Ok if some of you are having issues with the Nook Tablet getting stuck at "Read Forever" screen, thanks to SomeDoofusLover have found an easier way to speed up the process. Here it is:
Okay after messing around with the Nook, i went to CWM and unmounted all the options. I rebooted the Nook... it said "Clearing Data" and then "Restoring to factory settings"!! Now it's all back together!! Thank you!!
So you could possibly add this to your OP. I would reply to your thread but I just created this account today. I am not a stranger to XDA Developers, I just have been a lurker.
To possibly fix Nook Tablet stuck at "Read Forever" screen,
1. Boot into CWM.
2. Go to Mounts and Storage
3.Unmount all the options.
4. Reboot System.
5. Sit back and wait!
If that doesn't work I'm pretty sure u can make an boot able SD card with Ubuntu from the thread of Adam, or its another thread to fix dead nook.

[Q] Copy Notes/memos to windows pc and show hidden android files/folders in windows 7

Hey Xda developers,
I'm kinda frustrated at the moment so I'm sorry if I sound that way. I recently bought a Sony Xperia Z Ultra (for 2 months now). And yesterday I came to the conclusion that I had cracks in my screen. Not long after that I realised that my touchscreen was dead too. How did this all happen? I have no clue as to why but probably because I always put it in my pocket all day. It probably couldn't handle the forces while bending my leg when sitting while the thing is pretty big. (so my advice is don't put it in your pocket).
After that I thaught I'm so happy that I have an extra insurance on my phone. But my happiness was soon gone when I called the insurance company wich told me there was no record stating I had an insurance.
A lot of phonecalls later they said everything is gonna be allright and they will fix it (i told them I had evidence in my mail). So I decided to copy all my data from my broken Sony Xperia Z Ultra.
The Touchscreen is defective but it still powers on and android seems to be running fine. I had no problem with phonerecordings photos screenshots movies etc. Then I came to my notes/memos which took my whole day and I still haven't figured it out.
Here is the problem:
I can acces the internal memory from my phone but a lot of files and folders are not displayed including the databases which hold the memos at least thats what I think.
I have a Sony Xperia Z Ultra and c6833 model (European version I believe) it has stock firmware on it, its rooted and has SU on it. The Usb debugging mode is on. I'm using windows 7 ultimate and the normal (windows) file explorer (I don't think this is the problem). Show hidden files folders and drives is activated all the boxes that begin with hide are unchecked. When googling I stumbled on a lot of answers with folder options in windows. This is not the problem, the problem is that windows sees the internal memory as a device not as a driveletter. Therefore Windows hides these system files and folder options doesn't effect that (atleast thats how I understand it).
Since my device is rooted I know there most be a solution. An android expert answered that if your phone is rooted you can acces it without the touchscreen. Sadly he didn't post the solution for that. Here is the thread:
http://www.justanswer.com/android-devices/7a5nt-folders-starting-dot-s2-using.html
I've read about ADB but i'm not sure how this might help me I found some information about how to use ADB for flashing a new rom but ofcourse thats not what I want.
http://androidteen.com/setup-adb-and-fastboot-driver-with-android-sdk/
There are some topics right here on xda developers showing me the directory on where to find the memo database but I can't even see those folders:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24036872
(someone also suggested using Kies but I don't have a Samsung obviously)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1534157
I also tried using PC Companion from Sony. Sadly I saw no option to copy memo's with the backup utility so I called Sony. They told me its not possible to copy notes after the spokeswomen asked a few colleagues there was also no other way of syncing notes with the pc she said. (remember that I can't install any apps or do anything on the phone since the touchscreen doesn't work not even marginally)
So I kinda ran out of options so the only thing left for me to do was to create a topic right here. Any detailed information on this matter would help tremendously (at least I hope). I really want to have those notes So any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Man, you are very lucky that you had USB debugging enabled! Adb is indeed the way to go, if you know the directory you want then you need the PULL command:
http://eagle.phys.utk.edu/guidry/android/pushpull.html
If you're unsure of which directory or file it is, it's possible the below will work to copy off all apps and data although I'm not sure how it'll treat system apps:
http://www.howtogeek.com/125375/ho...kup-without-rooting-or-unlocking-your-device/
Or, a more complex but entirely more reliable process below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818321
Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for posting your reply. I've been very busy these days but I finally got to it.
I was able to get in to the Z ultra using the ADB method but sadly I had no succes.
I could see more then I could using windows explorer but the data folder was empty. I don't understand what went wrong because I'm sure my device is rooted (titanium backup worked very well and I had SU installed). Sadly I didn't make any recent backups with Titanium backup. I see more people that can't see there data folder on there device while its rooted so I guess I'm not the only one.
For other people this ADB method would work very well I guess.
Maybe its the way I rooted my device I don't know. (I used a Chinese programm then let Su take over root control)
Anyway thanks for the help. My device is beeing picked up tomorrow for repair so I'll just factory reset it.

Why make this so complicated with ADB? Use a file manager on your device like root explorer. Find the files, copy them to your SDcard partition in a new folder. Connect to your pc and copy/paste the files to your computer.

Bit late. But like superuser said find the files and copy them to your sd card. If you touchscreen doesn't work then you will need an otg cable and a mouse and control phone that way when touchscreen has gone.
