Whats up with these old mods? Powerboost sounds interesting as well as speedy v7. I know I hear people say cm7 doesn't need help but i noticed a atrix user say it was only for cm7/9.. are these mods kool to use?
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
Hipsters use them. They think those mods look cool on their ROMs.
I was using them before they were cool.
Speedy7 made my quad stats a bit better. By about 500. Seems a bit better/faster but not by much. It's safe to flash em...just read instructions right.

Speedy helped to improve battery life for me on cm7. It has had no negative effects for me.

Um Hipsters? How can this be trending and I've never heard of it... ur a Hipster... how can these mods look kool? How does it look?

Speedy is old enough to gain hipster attention? I thought it was put out in the last few months?

So my wife just got a fascinate (coming from Droid x) and I was wondering what a good kernel rom combination is for good battery life and stability?

Powerwashed 1.2 with pbj 8-8 kernel seems to be the most reliable for a lot of people. If your phone cannot handle the under volt then use pw otb 8-15 kernel. Your radio should be ed 05

My bad, can someone move it? haha
Thanks laureanop, I'll for sure look into those, I just have no starting point, everything is a lot easier on my OG droid... and my droid 2 has only a few options so that makes it easier too hahaha
For me, MIUI has the best battery life and is just great in general. I recommend giing it a try; it has a few issues but nothing major. The pros outweigh the cons.
OTB Over Clock kernel and Evil Fascination ROM play well together on mine, thought you can have some radio issues (it was a pain to fix but my how to is on here somewhere) if you are going to do this from another non stock image.
I just installed power washed with the pbj kernel for now (not big on miui personally, feels unorganized like iOS and wasn't a huge fan on my OG Droid... Of course that was back when it like first came out lol i'm sure it's allot better now) i'm just waiting on the verdict from her on battery life and performance, played with it some last night and it felt great (especially after putting launcher pro instead of go launcher, which is nice but just didn't have that snappy feel I like) but you know everything seems fast @ first, we'll see after a couple days...
I'm sure it'll be allot better than stock either way lol
Edit: thank new I'll check that out if she's not big on the current setup, I see allot of people liking evil, so that was on my list of thing to try, just was not sure what to pair with, thanks!

CM7 + Glitch's Kernel.
Yeah MIUI has gotten much slicker and faster recently. If you're not into that, go with Vanilla Gingerbread or CM7, they are both very fast and clean. I recommend the glitch kernel with underclocking and undervolting to get best performance and battery life.
Yeah I was prolly gonna throw cm7 on there but it's still in nighties so I'd rather not unless it was my phone
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
The current setup of power washed and pbj seem to be pretty sweet for now...she was still at 70% after it being off the charger for about.... 19 or so hours...where she would normally be in the red after 15 or so...

My companys giving me a dx2 and i just noticed no cm support ..bummer, especially since the dx at least has nightlies...figured the dx2 would as well..now with cm team getn ready to tackle ics im extra sad.
so my question is it even worth rooting this thing and running custom roms? i mean is there anything out there that offers anything over the oem experience (obviously minus the motoblur)?
correct me if im wrong but with the locked bootloader u cant even oc/uc the clock speed..just tryn to figure out if its worth the effort.
appreciate any opinions.
send from my G2X (cm7)
Yes, it's most certainly worth the effort. We don't have access to the bootloader, and thus the kernel, but the devs working on the dx2 are very active and consistently pushing out great products. Rooting is easy and nothing else is too difficult either. I'd look at the sticky by booked in the dev forum to find all the info you'll need.

There's a Dec trying to port CM7/MIUI over. And he's right, we've got GREAT devs! And more people are becoming devs all the time. The benefits are a much faster and snappier experience with less blur. You can't completely deblur it, but devs have gotten pretty damn close! I say you should root it, install our BSR and try flashing the different ROMs. That's what I did and it brought me to Eclipse. Then went to Molten and now I "dual boot" both haha
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
How do you dual boot?
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
It's not really dual booting. But I have 2 back ups to switch between Molten and Eclipse haha
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
With a locked bootloader I would say we are doing pretty damn good. Liberty & Eclipse are two of my favorite that you should try out. I think Liberty is closest to stock GB as you will get.

That's gonna be your best bet. Check out some of those links and decide for yourself if its worth it.

Ok so I read about eclipse,molten,liberty,etc....but which ROM is the best I'm thinking about eclipse but just seems hard to apply, you know go to 2.3.5.then reroot which I wouldn't mind doing but can you guys tell me its it really smooth, for rite now I'm rooted, froze sum bloat, and I am supercharged...looking for friendly advice...
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
I've used all three. My top two are molten and eclipse. Liberty needs to get updated (IMO), it needs to be fixed up a little. I've had only like 1 or 2 problems with eclipse and it's nothing major, I can live with them; Eclipse makes up for it with speed. I'm running the 2.3.4 eclipse. Too lazy to SBF and i love it. Otherwise, molten is a great choice as well. Its up to you.
My suggestion is to flash the SPEEDY V7 script and the build.prop. They really make the phone so much better.
Hope this helps =]

Is whatever YOU consider the best if fits your needs. What's best for you can be number 1,000,000 to other. These kind of threads are redundant and they don't really get to nowhere. Also is posted in the wrong section.
On that note, thread closed.
I'm currently running Liberty3 and since it looks like development on that is dead I was going to move. Which one should I look at and why?
Eclipse 2.03 is a great rom. Nitro provides a lot of support even though he works on different devices. It is a fast and good performing rom! You can not go wrong with Eclipse. There are also tons of great themes for it as well.
Eclipserom.com for the newest 2.03 version.
Eclipse...without a doubt. It is stable and extensively supported. Check out the website eclipserom.com

I tried most of them. Kept going back to Eclipse. It's the most stable and most refined and best supported. And since version 2.0 it has all the features that I missed most from the my old Droid that was running CM7.
And to keep the trend going: Go to eclipserom.com !

Eclipse definetly. Nitros already mentioned that there will be more to come for the X2.
you forgot gingerbread phone 7 =)
Well, guess I'm a Liberty guy. Eclipse is great but I ran Liberty a long time when I had my X and when I saw it here, I jumped on it and never looked back. It runs flawlessly for me. Tried the new Eclipses but I always end up going back to Liberty. LOL, for some reason I feel like I'm in somebody elses house when I'm not using Liberty. So..............
I'm running Liberty on the ol X2. I've ran eclipse since its earlys, but once Liberty came out I've ran it. Just seems to have a little better battery life to me, plus its smooth & fast. But don't get me wrong, eclipse is also a great rom. You really can't go wrong either way.
Eclipse.....
Need I say more?
See my signature
Eclipse saved the x2
I just switched from a DX w/ MIUI, to a DX2. My first choice was Eclipse 2.0.3 and I'm loving it so far. Great speed, a lot snappier than my I old phone.
I do miss MIUI tho.
molten
Molten has excellent battery, one of the best out there as far as I'm concerned. I can tweak everything I need to on Molten, and it has battery percentage on top right of status bar (yes a little thing, but something that has always bugged me). Very fast, faster even than my rooted stock launcher pro, which was faster than most. Pretty easy to use, as well, settings are nice.

Eclipse has had the one percent battery indicator forever.
It was the first ROM on the x2 tho come with it..
Just saying. Sounded like u were saying molten was the only one that has that....which isn't the case.
Nah, not the only one, just that it's a regular option, rather than a work around like some others, to have the percentage in the top right, and that's a big selling point for me.
Just giving the highlights of why I like molten, not dissing any other one.

Just conversing
I still don't understand what you mean.
Eclipse has the battery percentage there as well....I don't understand what you mean by work around? Just curious
Either unrooted, or a rom that doesn't have a default option for that. Eclipse does, and I could be wrong, especially if updates occurred, but I think a couple other roms don't have that settings checkout like molten and eclipse. I I could just be thinking of roms for other phones besides x2, that's always possible...lol

Well it sounds like CM7 is gonna be my new favorite ROM here in the near future
Tapatalkin' from my eclipsed DROIDX2
I've used every ROM posted here at XDA that applies to the DX2. I don't have a favorite but Molten and Eclipse are very full featured. I was a loyal user of Liberty on my old DX and think it's one of the greats.
But really, I'd like to see more from Peperm1nt. His GBP ROM is pretty darned good and he's quick to answer questions should you have any.
With that said, I really appreciate all of the devs who spend time on the DX2. Moto has not made it easy for them, yet they've brought us some pretty cool stuff.
Cheers.

You know. I never tried gbp7
I don't know why.
Maybe it was the windows look.
I think I might have to give it a shot soon.
Next day I have off I will try it out....
what is the best rom for my x2?
I'll put this in a quick nutshell, you should read up on each one first but:
Eclipse= Best every day rom, very stable, fast, and pretty good customization.
Cyanogenmod 7.2= Stupid fast, pretty stable, customize to your hearts content, still a beta so if you're an android noob, its not the best for you.
Cyanogenmod 9= First Ice Cream Sandwhich rom for our phone, but beware this is still in early alpha stage and has issues but our buddy DragonzKiller is working on it when he gets free time, I would advise not to flash this unless you're somewhat of an advanced user.
MIUI= Gives you an overall iPhone feel. I don't have much experience with this rom, if someone cares to elaborate please do. There is also an ICS version of this but again this stems from the work of dragonzkiller and has many of the same bugs as CM9.

I agree 100%. When I first joined, I thought the search would be kinda lame and wouldn't work like I wanted it to. But, the search for this forum is probably the best out of any of them. Believe me, it's more than likely been asked already....and answered. Give it a whirl. If you still can't find it, its guaranteed that somebody will know the answer.
I beleave Triscuit summed it up nicely.

Haven't had too many issues with Liberty or Eclipse. CM9 is still rough around the edges for a DD and CM7 is alot more stable and polished but still has some issues. I personally am back to the Stock Rom using Holo Launcher and the GB Battery Fix and all is good!
