rom for my x2 - Motorola Droid X2

what is the best rom for my x2?

I'll put this in a quick nutshell, you should read up on each one first but:
Eclipse= Best every day rom, very stable, fast, and pretty good customization.
Cyanogenmod 7.2= Stupid fast, pretty stable, customize to your hearts content, still a beta so if you're an android noob, its not the best for you.
Cyanogenmod 9= First Ice Cream Sandwhich rom for our phone, but beware this is still in early alpha stage and has issues but our buddy DragonzKiller is working on it when he gets free time, I would advise not to flash this unless you're somewhat of an advanced user.
MIUI= Gives you an overall iPhone feel. I don't have much experience with this rom, if someone cares to elaborate please do. There is also an ICS version of this but again this stems from the work of dragonzkiller and has many of the same bugs as CM9.

First of all, welcome.
Second, git up on the search bar git down.
Put simply, Eclipse - if you have a single serious problem, feel free to yell at me. Its very likely you won't.

Wow I've been gone for so long and people still ask this? Maybe I'd suggest making a sticky to avoid this question being asked repeatedly. But then again that would only work if people search ....

I agree 100%. When I first joined, I thought the search would be kinda lame and wouldn't work like I wanted it to. But, the search for this forum is probably the best out of any of them. Believe me, it's more than likely been asked already....and answered. Give it a whirl. If you still can't find it, its guaranteed that somebody will know the answer.

I beleave Triscuit summed it up nicely.

cm9
cm9 working very nice here

Haven't had too many issues with Liberty or Eclipse. CM9 is still rough around the edges for a DD and CM7 is alot more stable and polished but still has some issues. I personally am back to the Stock Rom using Holo Launcher and the GB Battery Fix and all is good!

Old mods?

Whats up with these old mods? Powerboost sounds interesting as well as speedy v7. I know I hear people say cm7 doesn't need help but i noticed a atrix user say it was only for cm7/9.. are these mods kool to use?
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
Hipsters use them. They think those mods look cool on their ROMs.
I was using them before they were cool.
Speedy7 made my quad stats a bit better. By about 500. Seems a bit better/faster but not by much. It's safe to flash em...just read instructions right.

When do you think ICS is going to be released; should I install an ICS-based ROM?

When do you think ICS is going to be released for the Note? I've been holding out on installing custom ROMs, but if it's still going to be a while, I might as well do it.
Also, which ROMs (ICS) are the best? Is the battery life better or worse? Are there a lot of bugs?
I never try any custom Rom yet but usually there is always bugs on custom roms. I just suggest u wait for the official ics.

I'm using the unofficial. Then stripped out every last bit of bloat before installing apps. Vastly better than stock and only one rom flash. Plus the -k holokernel. My guess is ICS official won't come out until late May or June at the earliest. Even after that there will be custom roms based on it so I'm not going to bother until a good custom rom based on the official ICS comes out.

That's nuts. Don't take advice from people who don't know what they are speaking about.
There are some great custom roms. Much better then any Sammy crapwiz stock rom.
Try them yourself. You will be glad u did. Just read and follow all instructions. Exactly

Be nice. Everything in any kind of forum is subjective.
I could also say you dont know what you're talking about if that's my opinion.
Im a senior software engineer who simply does not have the time to even look at Roms.
Does that make me "nuts?"
ICS seraphim is awesome. Works very smooth and is polished. There are very few known issues with most of these roms, nothing that should be a deal breaker for anyone.
Apex launcher is infinately better than touchwiz.
Also, ics stock revamped is another great rom ported over by smartguy044.

Reading will tell you all of the features in less time than it takes somebody else to look them up for you, type a response, and for you to read their response. Trying out the roms yourself will show you everything and you can figure out your own likes and dislikes of every ROM.

And then the time to set up the rom, try different roms, discover compatibility issues, find out which apps cause battery drain..etc...
It can be much more time consuming than what you're describing.

Individuals are unique, that's why I always recommending users try something they like for example:
Aosp: fourth bar, speedrom etc.
Sense: nrgz or arhd, etc.
It's honestly better to try various roms than for someone to say so, he may like it now cause you said so but a later he tries another and think so of that one too. Then what?
sent from a smooth place where my fingers trace across the screen to see your face and make you scream!
Project Butter/Speed Rom is by far the best ROM I've tried so far. I would love to use FourthBar but not having a signal indicator really bothers me. Once craigut fixes up some of the bugs, I'll probably be giving that a try again. Knowing how great our devs are here, I'm sure it will be soon! If you're looking at Speed Rom, you might want to wait for version 7 comes out soon, so you don't have to fix everything back up again after you just settled in.
Tried android revolution HD and it was very good but I've been using energy for a while now and I love it. Patiently waiting for a CM9 or CM10

20 hours on stand by or something ? Because the battery sucks on my htc amaze... and if thats how drastic difference just changing ROM will do...then def getting Energy rom.

Yes, it has the blue rings spinning boot animation..
And if you search my posts in that thread, I have posted multiple tweaks you can make to the init.post_boot.sh files that make the kernel more battery friendly.
Remember, it isn't just the rom, it is also the kernel in big ways.. use one of the latest faux kernels, tweak the files as I just mentioned.. depending how extreme the changes are you make, you could have over 2 days of mostly standby, or at least 14+ hours with some pretty heavy usage.
Just know, if you are spending all day playing some 3d game it will always kill your battery no matter what rom/kernel you use.. the same as on stock.

Synergy Rom

Anyone have great experience with the Synergy Rom? I am considering it but a review says it is laggier than the other ROMs on there? I wanted to clarify, is it at least better than STOCK? Thanks in advance
I was in the same boat as you, looking for new roms. Don't waste your time with others. Install LiquidSmooth. It's hands down the best rom I have ever used. It's stable, everything works, and there isn't any lag whatsoever. It also gets great battery life and it is very customizable
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2
Most ROMs are really in their early stages, but it sounds like most of the TouchWiz-based ROMs are fairly complete. As far as lagging, it's probably going to depend on the phone. Beans, Clean, Hyperdrive, etc all have great reviews as well as reviews that list some problems.
I recommend picking one that fits your needs - mods and features - then FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS for flashing exactly. Then formulate your own opinions. A lot of negative reviews or problems stem from people not reading through the original post and thread comments. Reading solves most issues. Good luck, and have fun.
Anything special instructions I need to know for liquid smooth? Just wipe complete and install ROM with gapps? Does the Google wallet hack work with liquid smooth?
Thanks!

Synergy rocks, don't waste your time reading into other people trying to steer you away from you want to try. one of the better TW roms. You will like it.

I am enjoying the synergy rom the most out of all the ones being offered right now. The battery life increase is amazing. It's smooth, sometimes didn't reboot all the way but boring into recovery and wiping davlik as ND cache seems to fix it ( I chalk that hiccup to it just all being a somewhat new room for a new phone) so the bugs need to be ironed out.
