ROOT and flash rom WENT WRONG - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I have Galaxy SII the 777 from AT&T
I rooted it using youtube. com/watch?v=R-2Z2dKsuio
After rooting it with that I backed up my phone so yes I have a backup.
and now i am getting retarded I-9100 message every time i turn on my phone
so after it got rooted I decided to flash its rom to the same rom only without AT&T crap, extra services, and prolonged battery life, I picked VILLAIN 3.0
Then I discovered that VILLAINROM is only for I-9100, but it was too late and I installed it, then I found out about HELLRAISER which i would flash right after VILLAINROM, but it was too late, now i cant flash ANYTHING because my phone thinks its I-9100 and MY HOME BUTTON IS NOT ASSIGNED TO ANY OF THE 4 BUTTONS THERE ARE. -meaning I cant "select" in the CWM menu.
I think I need to find a way to enter the system files, and assign manually the homebuttons. Or somehow wipe the rom off, or install new rom on top. I am not sure I want to keep that rom since I cant even make phone calls! Only Internet works..
Please suggest me something.

you use the power button to select in a 9100 rom Kernel CWM.
Home is used as the back button until you hellraise it.

I'm not one to flame because its a forum and I'd rather have people ask questions than feel afraid to. So I'll just answer your question but you better have your suit on because you're going to get sh*t from other people. This stuff is WELL documented in the sticky threads.
I dont know if you can still run hellraiser but if you cant, just flash back to stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432
then flash one of these roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1304
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1521
The 9100 you see when you boot up your phone is normal. Ignore it.

Try using the back to stock method( here on xda) then re root it again with one of the methods here. Sorry for not providing the links
...
Also, on terms of "hacking, exploiting" don't trust YouTube unless it is a good source that's redirecting you there. Also the i9000 warnning happens to everyonebwith a rooted phone, you can fix it with no use of any exterior device than your phone, search in the general section

Looks like yet another dweeb that didn't do enough reading before messing with his phone. Thankfully, the helpful, unpaid volunteers on XDA are ready and standing by to save him from himself.

No, the i9100 screen only happens when you flash a a non stock/rooted ROM or kernel via Odin.

not necessarily true. Some people are more visual than anything else. They can understand things better when shown to them. I'm one of them. I can read and understand what I'm reading but I can understand it better and faster by seeing it in action.

Based on this philosophy, if the YouTube video didn't exist the user would have found actual usable information and would have gained some knowledge in understanding what they are doing on their phone.

The way I see it, if you want something done then you're going to have to do some research and work for it... otherwise you're going to have to pay someone to do it for you.
Dont EXPECT free stuff/service and dont demand.

**SOLVED** Netflix removed from devices and won't come back

****SOLVED******
I've tried going to the netflix website, uninstalling and reinstalling app. Nothing works. I have no devices in my manages list at all. It's probably something simple I overlooked but I can't figure it out. Anyone got any ideas?.

Grammar is a forgotten art.
BTW, your issue is not with the phone or with Netflix, it's user error. If it says that the device needs to be activated it means you're running the app on a Froyo Rom. The app only works on Netflix compatible Gingerbread Roms. Do a little research, there are at least 4 threads in the Thunderbolt boards with this information.
If that is not the error you're getting, it's still your fault, because you're asking a vague question and providing no information, so we're left to guess at what the actual problem is.

Yes, the only thing worse than someone whining about not being told to search, is someone giving vague descriptions to their problem

Wanna do something cool - My xPlay needs to stand out

Hey guys.
I'm not the only one among my friends who has the play anymore. I used to be cool person when i showed them some emulators and stuff. Yes my friends are r-tards and didn't know how to get emulators and so on. bla bla bla.
What I'm trying to say is that i wanna do something cool with my xPlay. A hack, a mod or anything like that. I wanna be able to say "Oh yeah? but can your play do THIS?!". And no I'm not gay or anything, just trying to have some fun with my friends.
I'm one 2.3.3 and rooted. And that's pretty much it.
So do you guys have any cool suggestions?
What about this. This is my play and i think its xool. Especially love the status bar icons etc.

Well unless you are suggesting that you are going to develop something (say a screen-sharing over USB-Debug kernel module and app controls to PC) Some physical mod or theming/app thing isn't really Dev work.
Development (to my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong) is more for OS, kernel, unlocking, and low-level stuff. Possibly for app/code development of an app or module that requires lots of Device specific coding. Beyond that, it should be in General, or possibly in the Apps/Themes section.
(sorry to rebump this with my response)

Yeah i know. But i'm not looking for a new theme. I'm looking for a modification. Like for example: I had an iphone before, and you couldn't use multitasking on it (like 1,5 years ago), but with the help of some mods and jailbreak you could. That's the type of stuff i'm looking for, cool modification. AND THATS why I posted this thread here in the development part of the forum. I know it was wrong because i'm writing a question, but maybe mods will let this one slip for a change

ROM Factory
What is ROM Factory?
Its a tool that will allow the user to create a picture perfect .img from your boot and system partition. It will then create an update.zip from it.
What is a "Fruit Cake"?
A fruit cake is the finish product, a self contain rom, already ready for installation, already inside an update.zip.
So really what does it do?
It allows a bootloader unlocked user to create a full copy of their boot and system partition. All of it, including mods and changes done to either one of those partitions.
Can this be use for easier rom development?
Yes! Beyond just its normal capabilities! After installing the resources you can modify the script and add things to it in *sdcard* /fcm/workdir! Once you are done adding and changing things in there, press "Create ROM".
Supported Devices:
olympus (atrix), sunfire (photon), triumph, WX435, fb0 (triumph), p999 (lg g2x), p990 (lg o2x), p970 (lg optimus black), ace (htc desired hd), pyramid (htc sensation), galaxys2, GT-I9100, GT-I9100M, GT-I9100T, SGH-I777, SGH-I727, hercules, crespo (nexus s), crespo4g (nexus s 4g), toro (cdma galaxy nexus), maguro (gsm galaxy nexus)
Experimental Support:
umts_jordan(defy), wingray, stingray (xoom)
Your phone must be rooted!
Step One: Press the Install Resources button on screen.
Patience this step could take up to 5 minutes.
Step Two: Press the Create Fruit Cake button on the screen.
Patience this step could take up to 5 minutes.

this a tool to aid in development, it goes in the development forum!
this does not bend the laws of physics giving every person in the world the capabilities of creating a rom, it just help those that are beginning. i would like to point out that this forum is already full of useless roms. considering this phone has been around quite sometime and the development forum only has 86 threads, i suggest folks should use this app!
I would like to point out the "Recognize Developer" saw the usefulness of the app. Instead of flaming and making inappropriate comments people should learn to support development.
I have put many days of effort into making this app, If is not appreciate it please let me know and i will end support to a platform i dont even own.
Go figure, the one forum with no development what so ever wants to complaint when help comes there way!

Yes, boot and system. And in the future also apks.
The idea is that you can manually apply any mod you would like to include into the the current ROM, and generate an installation file.

I see...so if it doesn't include apps in the zip what does the "rom" include as far as apps once its generated and flashed?
Will this program allow us fine enough controls as to be able to create sub catagories in Settings like Cyanogenmod and other ROM's have? Or does this basically just make a flashable fresh install style .zip to distribute?

Im curious how it handles symlinking. If it works properly it would definitely bring alot to the table. I work alot so my time is limited and testing on the go is required. If this works i can make test builds without using astro. Of course ill always end up releasing the old fashion way.

Making changes by flashing mods and deleting/changing apks. Changing settings and when youre happy with your phone it makes a rom, hopefully.

My main philosophy as a Rom Chef / Dev has always been performance tweaks with the ability to allow the user to customize.
On the SGH-t989 [T-Mobile GS2 Variant] I kept touchwiz optional, but modified it to allow the user the ability to customize as they saw fit.
On the Epic 4G, StarskyROM was the same way. Hella performance and battery savings, mods to allow customization, but absolutely no bulls*** overhtheming.
There is nothing worse than flashing a ROM that is amazingly well set up, only to find that the theming is HIDEOUS, and difficult to change.
I keep stock looks with minor UI tweaks.
I add custom init.d scripts, build.prop tweaks, framework edits, animation speed edits, battery saving scripts and then I post the first RC.
After the first Release Candidate i await feedback from the community. Where we go from there is up to them. That is what I believe is the best method for development work. Get your idea out there, let people use it and tear it apart, then suggest changes. It's the heart of open development :]
That being said, this will be Sense 3.6. This will include Rosie and her mods [eventually].
Thanks for your interest. It should be fun developing for a phone which I do not posess

I don't forsee a time when your phone won't have service.
However, if for some reason you didnt have service, your just restore a NANDROID backup of when you did. Problem solved :]
and yes jessfox is quite awesome.
I would love to be a tester. Please PM me if there is a slot available.
Id love to test I enjoyed foxstar beta testing on the t989 are you gonna have the same issue reporting system in place.

You have to unlock your bootloader at HTC.Dev and then just install a recovery and superuser and you are rooted.
Would like to test, I have HTC dev unlock, s-off, juopunut hboot, and currently running a sense 3.6 rom, not the leaked one, another one that is modded, with no hboot and recovery. Btw is this themed?

Rom suggestions

Top of the morning all. I wanted a few suggestions on which Rom I should go with. I have had my Note for a couple of days and I already have it rooted and installed CWM. I'm not exacly sure what I want out of the Rom though. I know how install roms, but I'm still a noob when it comes to them.
It all comes down to user preference
No ROM is better then another
Try them all
Literally lol
There is no disappointment with these ROMs
Some are complete but others like MiUi and CM10 still have a couple things broken
Read read read read and read before flashing and YouTube videos and tutorials so you have an idea of what you're doing and do things right
Good luck and have fun flashing!

I'll probably end up going with Black Star V. No particular reason though lol. It was the first one I saw. I just want the bloatware gone. That's usually the first thing I look for. I'll do the Tether Hack and then add themes and I'm good to go. It's already running fast enough for my liking so no need for me to overclock or anything. I'm 100% noob still. I'll actually read them all this time around. When I had my Droid X I was on the same Rom for like a year because it was good enough for me. I'm like if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Look for thread counts and ratings. That tells you what is more popular and so it is an indicator of what is good. Like JayRokk stated, try several and you will see what is good for you.

Just like all the above mentioned, there are great support within all the GNote threads, no matter what you choose or like, just read the OPs and see what fits your needs/requirement as to all are different.
BStar is my DD= daily driver.
Here is a listing of all ROMs and Tools in the GNote family threads, some loser put it together, so make sure you flame him hard.

You are the man bro! I'm going to do the BStar since it was the first one I saw lol. Oh and I just saw the APN trick so I'll for sure be doing that too. Thanks a million!
Saurom. Yeah, its gb, so what?
It has built in call recording. If it had built in blacklisting it'd be the perfect phone.
If you just love chrome, any of the ics or cm9 ones will do. They are all about the same... Kind of boring.

Abt the same?
Which one is not boring? if it's theme bling you're after just get a blinged out case... I want function.
Hence my recommending saurom. It does what the others fail to. Make your phone a worthwhile investment. Makes the phone alone better.
What's the deal with the way ugly preschool looking contacts on ics and cm9 ROMs?

All I need to know is what does it do.
If it places calls and surfs the web. So did my Nokia. Heck android has file managers! Though seldom in a packaged rom. That's great.
I'm just not into themes. My ringtone is a 1950 telephone.

Lol is that not the real reasons for a smart phone, web, emails, txt and make calls?!? All else just extra, right.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
CM9 official is the safest choice for original android experience, just went stable.
Fjmod uclf6 for debloated stock experience, add phmod for galaxy s3 flavor.
Everything else is more or less a derivative of these two. No real difference.
I wouldn't recommend cm10 yet, in a few months it would be THE rom to have however.

Yeah. A killer phone with a PDA. It took forever and a million of us new it was coming 15 years ago... who thought Newton's company would be a major player?
But a killer phone is a must.
