I currently have an ipad1 and been holding out for a tablet my options right now are prime or ipad3 i really dont believe the ipad3 is an option for me. just want feedback on the prime and your thoughts if I should wait
If the New Pad is not an option for you then thats leaves you with the asus line and a few others.
sounds like you have made up your mind already....even if you dont even know it.....
Wait until the iPad 3 benchmarks come out before making your final decision.
Go for the prime! Read the positive thread in my signature. You will make up your mind after reading it.

I'd revise my considerations to either the iPad 3 or the tf700.

What system (in order of importance):
1) runs the software that you absolutely need?
2) does the job for the lowest cost (reliability and performance issues can soften this a bit)
3) will continue to do 1 and 2 for the longest period of time
4) provides other benefits that may be of use.
No other analysis makes any sense unless you can buy more than one.

Why? These aren't old PC's. This has so little to do with what makes a tablet good to use.
Im in the same boat as you OP , i really am interested in the prime but the wifi issues that ive heard of are unacceptable to me.
hi, i hope you guys can help me to make a decission, im from El Salvador and i want to buy a prime from amazon because my brother will be here in may but i was reading all your post and i dont know... sorry for my english
This is a good thread because I'm also considering the Prime or the TF700.
I just sold my iPad 2 (whew!) and got a decent price for it so I have the money, just trying to figure out what Android tablet to buy.
Seems like I can't find the Prime any where so my decision might be made for me. I think I heard the TF700 wasn't coming out until June! I don't know if I want to wait that long.
Has anyone heard when ASUS will fix their supply problems and will the next batch of Transformer Primes have current wifi, BT and GPS problems fixed? I don't really care about GPS.

If you are going to get an android tablet the prime will be best unless you don't care about paying an extra $100 in "June" for the tf700. I have a prime and with all the updates the wifi and Bluetooth works fine. GPS struggles a little depending on where I am located. It works off an on but it does function. At $499 its the best.

So the wifi is working fine now? How is your signal?
I received my prime today and I am loving it, a lot more than the galaxy tab 10.1 i had. WiFi seems fine to me, works better than my sgs1 and as good a sgs2. Have no complaints at all. Will do a network test later I am Done playing with it.

I had a prime with the wifi/bt dropoff problem and I returned it since repair solutions seem uncertain. There were many things I loved about the prime, just too much instability in the wifi performance. I presently am watching to see if asus comes up with more consistent results from their manufacturing process or possibly for the tf700 with its redesigned backplate.
I do not like IOS, so the ipad 3 is really not an option for me. I am using an HP Touchpad with CM9 while I wait and watch......
i pre order again the prime from amazon, i'll take the risk because i live in El Salvador and i cant return it or for a refund.. i really want it and since i had my atrix 2 i love android instead ios

I read some where on this forum that ASUS had some news coming out on or about the 12th of March. Also, I've heard that new parts have been applied to later Prime tablet builds to fix the wifi/BT problems. Might just wait until Apr.
Thanks for the response.

My wifi has always been fine. It seems its hit and miss with some units or even different wifi router configurations. Personally have had zero problems connecting at university in many places, a couple hospitals and a doctors office, two airports now and two hotels. My macbook pro gets a stronger signal but matches throughput with my prime at home from across the house. The signals are equal between the prime and my Samsung phone.

Thanks for the answer. I really want the prime, especially after the "new ipad " announcement. Its a good tablet but i had an ipad 2 so besides the huge difference in screen resolution, its pretty much the same. Ive come to learn that with apple products its good to skip one year. But i really like the prime but i dont want to take any chances over the wifi issues so ill get the new ipad for now and will wait till the tf700 i think its called comes out later.

I am looking to buy the Prime as it was offered as a birthday present, and on the 12th we were set to pick it up but I was warned that there were serious WiFi and Bluetooth problems as well as the original GPS issues. I want it for general use such as browsing, playing games, a bit of word processing and mainly because I just want a tablet. I was offered an iPad 2 as a second option but much prefer everythif about the Prime. I have read Amazon.com reviews and they haven't mentioned Bluetooth issues just the wifi and said it was better than some people say it supposedly is? I was just looking for general pointers including positives and negatives on the Prime Tablet (TF201) and wondering how bad the actual wifi is and if a wifi signal booster on the router at home would solve the issue?
Any help would be much appreciated
Yes you should buy it there is zero problems with any of the Primes ignore any threads that might say otherwise people are just complaining to see themselves type.
I say it is a good buy. My wifi works fine at home and work which are the only places I have tried it. I have only tested Bluetooth and wifi concurrently with a Bluetooth controller and had no issues with either. The wifi on my prime is better than my Droid charge's wifi in fact.
As far as GPS is concerned, I can get locks without wifi though the accuracy is poor compared to my phone, Garmin handheld, and Garmin navigation devices. I have not tested the GPS at any higher rated of speed or over more distance than walking in my front yard so also can't comment on its use for navigational purposes.
I am happy with my prime and have no remorse about the purchase.
Yes, unlike all the people complaining here.... I have found it to be very nice haven't had any issues yet!
Be warned that a good percent of the tablets are defected by some sort of issue. In my case, the WiFi wouldn't work at all but Best Buy is now doing a swapping program for the tablet. I am so happy Best Buy is doing this for me
Be aware that Asus removed the gps from the specs, the metal backplate also affects wifi and bluetooth to a lesser extent. If possible ask for a demo of the features before you buy it.
Buy it! The progress with root and overclocking without even the unlocked bootloader has been amazing. I think we're in for a really awesome, dev-friendly tablet. Don't miss it!
If you don't need reliable GPS and can stay reasonably close to your AP then yes, it is a good choice. But if you want those things then wait and get the 700 which appears to be what we thought we were getting in the first place.

You forgot the /sarcasm tag at the end.
Reality check: The problems are not as widespread as one might think after looking at the forums here but there is a substantial percentage of chance that you might run into one of several problems. This, ignoring the Wi-Fi and GPS ones, which may or may not be a problem for you depending on your hardware setup around the house and need for a navigation enabled tablet.
It is truly a great product, but there are times when the software does hickup. That is nothing to worry about, because ICS is brand new and is only like 4 devices (officially). Plus we are getting unlocked bootloaders and then will be able to do some pretty amazing things. Ironically, we still can do amazing things, due to having root and being able to overclock. With time software issues will be fixed, as ICS only became available over the air updating 2 days ago. It will be perfect within a month or so.
The magic 8 ball says : too early to tell
Its personal preference, do you ride gnarly wave that's the cutting edge tech of android and have these sort of growing pains or do you play it safe and go with a solid proven device that won't play with any of your files without hacking it , not to mention you selling your soul to a single manufacturer if you go Apple..
That said I'm happy with mine and have little issues and feel my tablet will be future proof for a bit longer then what else is on the market, if you go with the prime prepare yourself for an exchange it seems to be 50/50 on getting a good one and from what i can see here is the people who managed to get good ones love em,myself included , take it FWIW...

So I've been patiently waiting for income tax money to get a new tablet, been reading a lot between the tf101 and the tf201 and I want a tablet that will have good development, I know the prime is too new and it has his fair share of issues including wifi and GPS, I can care less about GPS but I need wifi so as long as I can get a decent wifi signal so I can seat in my couch or my bed and pickup my wifi I'll be good, now the light bleeding from what the videos I've seen on YouTube wouldn't be a big problem but I don't know if I would be able to deal with dead pixels, now to my question , is there anyone that upgraded to the prime from the transformer and do you feel like it was a mayor upgrade or do you think the original is still a mayor contender? Is a $100 difference so is not that much of a difference in price, but from reading how Asus might have released it prematurely makes me wonder if I should go for the older more stable with more development transformer tf101.

The Tegra 2 in the original is ancient. Considering how fast the mobile market moves, it is like buying a Pentium 4 for a new desktop. The Tegra 3 is three times as fast between the CPU/GPU- ready for 2012.
With that said, with a Prime you go in expecting to deal with a dead GPS and weak wifi range. It is the trade-off for a modern amount of power.
My only personal issue was slower wifi in my bedroom (the edge of my network), but I love my Prime so much my solution was just to upgrade my router (Cisco e4200, best 2.4GHz consumer router on the market). Now it works great.

I'd say the OG TF101 has much faster WiFi speed as range from the access point increases, the Prime is thinner and lighter, and can be purchased with higher storage capacity.
If WiFi speed is the most important get a OG. If GPS is the most important get neither IMHO but def' not the Prime.
I would personally say getting a Tegra 2 now, would be like getting a Core 2 Duo instead of an Core i[357]. Now the Wayne and Grey based Tegra chips expected later this year....those will make a Tegra 2 look like a Pentium 4 versus an i7, if wikipedia is to be believed.

I see what your saying, and I don't care about GPS, I just want to make sure I get a somewhat solid tablet, as long as I can get wifi from like 5 feet from my router in my living room I won't complain, and I guess the other issues with light bleed and dead pixels is all luck, and there's rooting and recovery here for it, wish there was some custom honeycomb roms to play with like the revolver or krakd roms for the tf101, hopefully we'll see some development picking up for the prime soon, gonna see about swinging by best buy and testing one out while I wait for my tax money so I can just go buy the one I decide to go for when the money comes.

While some say GPS is no big deal, look at the amount of whining about it. I want it for alot of reasons. It automatically updates weather to the location, etc.
I purchased mine Less than two weeks ago from Best Buy. I have NO GPS at all. mine is a BCOKAS134452 serial number. My wifi isnt that bad actualy but i feel it is lacking when compared to my rooted nook color. I will try to open mine tonight and make one mod to see if it improves, if not, it goes back tomorrow.
Im not going to exchange it. Im going to return it receive my FULL refund. Then Re-purchase another unit so i have ANOTHER 2 weeks, incase there are issues.
While some may not find this right. I have noticed some people have major issues 3 or 4 weeks after purchase. That is what worries me. Just my .02$
Now you know about some of the issues affecting some users. Now check out the link in my signature. The positive transformer thread. That'll put things into perspective. GPS is a widespread issue although some peoples do work. As far as wifi, this a very limited issue. Just check out the link n the vast number of different users posted in there n you will see a flipside. Which is what I'm on..lol wifi works great on mines

IMHO light bleed and dead pixels are a quality control and shipping issue. It's also the most common ground for trouble between both tablets.
One thing that alarmed me... while my TF101 fresh out of Microcenter was great: my Prime off eBay had a batch of wtfixels on the far left side and I was afraid that I may have to RMA. By the time I completed the initial setup stuff with my Google Account it went away and the pixels are fine in use.
I do consider the TF101 a better quality tablet but really, unless you do have hair pulling issues with wifi/gps, Prime is fine. I also think the sites more or less calling the Prime like the top or the most powerful tablet of the year are also correct enough. It just doesn't have a deluded cult preaching it's perfection.

GPS is NOT a feature of the Transformer Prime. Anyone who brings it up anymore are doing so because it was a feature, but they bring it up because it was then removed. You don't buy a tablet for gps, you buy a gps. The GPS module and antenna are crap in the Prime. You would crap get signal and accuracy even if it did work properly.
For example, you don't buy a PS3 anymore for the ability to install Linux or PS2 backwards compatibility. Why? They removed those features.
Thee major problem of the weak wifi is the fact that one of the antennas is not actually connected properly in some of the old and new Primes. This is a reason to not buy the Prime.

I don't need reasons for the iPad2...just for this one.
Are the wifi problems still there? (i don't care about GPS)
I played around with it and i see that the lag is completely gone...is that right? (the galaxy tab had HUUUGE lag everywhere)
thanks guys!!
iPad 2? You need to keep up with your tech news son, the ipad 3 is coming out in like a week.

There are hundreds of threads about this^^ Anyway. In my opinion the prime is superior to the ipad in every way. And there is no lag. You cant compare it to the galaxy tab, it has a completely new chip and brand new android 4.0 on it Depends on what you need it for but 16:10 is just better in almost all situations. Unless you like black bars when you watch movies. It has HDMI out, an SD card slot, is thinner and lighter than the ipad, has a much better display, (IPS+ is really amazing, i never had a situation so far where i couldnt read the display, USB&full size SD card on the dock. And these are only hardware advantages. We just had a thread in the general forum: If you used android for some time you cant go back to iOS.
There are/were some people with radio issues, but there only a few - my wifi is perfect and the same as on all the other devices we have around here.
There's only a few reasons to get the ipad imho.
1. you need apple
2. there is a specific app that will only be available for iOS.
[e] before you ask, yes i think the prime is also better than the iPad 3. Yes it has a higher resolution but thats not making up for all the other stuff thats missing compared to the prime. again IMHO.
Get a Prime. End of story if you want reasons look at the thread in my signature called positive transformer thread.
Buy the prime - no question

Well it depends. to be honest. I've had the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Its my fathers now, gave it to him as a gift), iPad 2 which essentially i paid for it but my sis uses it regularly. But i just ordered the iPad 3/HD whatever (sold the iPad 2). But it really comes down to what you really need the tablet for. Is it entertainment (Movies, Videos, not gaming though) because if those are your basic needs i'd say TFP now or wait for the TFP Infinity. But if your basic needs are gaming i'd say iPad because there are plenty of more games out there for the iPad than Prime obviously.
thanks guys...i say the ipad 2 because its $399 now (you would be stupid to buy the new one)
i actually was mainly asking about wifi issues...this is rated 3 starts on amazon and that concerns me that that many people have issues...just wanted to make sure that the wifi works and i can use netflix all around my house. (5000 sq ft)
Amazon ratings for this device is flawed. Over a month ago we had several members and people who didnt even own primes go to amazon site and give prime bad ratings. Anyone can leave a rating there. Reason was because the bootloader was locked. So it messed up its rating on Amazon and it can't be changed.
Wifi n Netflix works great for me. Still possible to run into issue with ipad2 as its wifi is not that strong also and had several issues with it. Just Google ipad2 wifi issues and pages n pages of hits will pop up on it.

Also with the 1920x1200 resolution your movies are going to look great... iPad 2 at my house roughly half yours (2500 sq ft.) Gets reception everywhere, but at the size of your house you might want to buy some wifi extenders or have two routers. If your going to get the iPad 2, also why not buy a used iPad 2 off something like ebay/craigslist? since you don't want the new iPad many others do and their selling it for pretty cheap. I see on a local site such as craigslist a 64gb iPad 2 Wifi only going for as little as 500 in pretty good condition.

No hardware change.
2. As to the rumors of a hardware fix for WiFi/BT dropouts, the actual fix is just ensuring that the hardware utilized in current units is performing to tested standards. Basically to ensure this level of compliance we are replacing components within the WiFi subsystem on an as needed basis and then testing the units before shipment.

I know the thread, but that was all speculation, and it came shortly after the announcement of the TF300 and Infinity, so some people theorized that it'll be using the hardware from those instead.

Hey guys...so i had a galaxy tab 10.1 and its now in pieces (a heavy chair fell on it) but amex is going to refund me the $499 that i paid. I want to know if i should get a transformer prime or the iPad2.
I don't need reasons for the iPad2...just for this one.
Are the wifi problems still there? (i don't care about GPS)
I played around with it and i see that the lag is completely gone...is that right? (the galaxy tab had HUUUGE lag everywhere)
thanks guys!!

From a price perspective, you can get a refurbed 16GB iPad 2 directly from Apple with the same warranty that a brand new one comes with for $350. So if you are looking for the less expensive option the iPad 2 would be the way to go as it is going to be about $300 cheaper (that is if you get the dock for the Prime). If you go this route though, you have half as much storage as the Prime and have no way to expand.
Personally, I love my Prime. I don't have any problems with my wifi at all. IMO the Prime is a better tablet overall when compared to the iPad 2 or even the new iPad. The Prime will arguably provide the best user experience, mainly because of the keyboard dock.

Not a valid comparison. I'd say they'll save $150, then have to buy keyboard (either way).

If you do not need to take notes effectively on screen by hand and you do not need Music production applications such as multitracking, amp and effects simulation for guitar and base then get the Prime, absolutely. Even with a few potential hardware issues the Prime is a lovely beast.

OP,the iPAD 3 is out, get it is you want an iPAD.
As for the prime, look into the new ones, as much as I love my current prime I will be looking at new ones when they come out.
Oh, and how exactly did you get AMEX to refund you your entire purchase price for a product that you dropped a chair on?

I thought I'd ask:
I've read that there are gps issues... Is that fixed now?
Are there different models numbers to avoid.. I know some are dual and some are quad core but do roms lack support for different devices?
Any other issues with the device?
Gps is a design problem with the device. Its not even advertised as having GPS anymore.
At this point you should wait for the acer A510
http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Iconia-A...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1332962137&sr=1-1
GPS most likely won't work at all and ASUS already removed it from their specs list. I suggest you worry about the weak wifi instead. Probably better to wait for the 700 or look into another tablet.
Hmm he acer is in a week with similar stats... I'll wait and check that out thanks

I also would suggest that you look at the tablets apps on Android vs the tablet apps of the iPad. Needless to say, there isn't even a tablet section for Android. So if tablet optimized apps are important to you....
The Transformer series remains unique in that they offer the integrated keyboard dock. If navigation-quality GPS is important to someone, then yes, the Prime is not currently the best option. Personally, I've found wifi performance to be perfectly acceptable, but some others haven't. Otherwise, the Prime is an excellent tablet offering great performance, excellent battery life, a nice (and uniquely bright) screen, and the ability to be used as an Android netbook when placed in the dock. And then, there are the intangibles such as the fact that ASUS has so far been much, much better at updating their Android tablets than anyone else, by far.
The Acer might end up being a decent enough Tegra 3 tablet, but I'd not be willing to say it's a better option for someone who doesn't care about using his tablet as a navigational device. I'd say, try the Prime, and if wifi works acceptably for everywhere it's needed, then keep it.

First of all, this tablet rocks!!! In my case the GPS works like a charm and the device it self is quite solid!!! the Keybar add on is amazing and adds a lot of extra battery. My two cents.

I dont know about your Prime man, but I got one with C2 serial and everything just works, GPS signal may be a bit weaker than other devices I've used, but it works and Iget a lock without WiFi under 30 secs.
Wifi is also strong.. i lose some power once BT music starts streaming but I still have good speeds. Attached some screens:
- Internet while streaming A2DP audio
- Internet without Bluetooth on
- GPS Status with GPS lock

Thats very true, im considering leaving for the iPhone 5 to when thats out, software updates on android are a joke, and app quality is huge...
FYI
There is only one model of the Prime. It's the Transformer Prime TF201 Quad Core Tegra 3 CPU
ASUS also makes the Transformer TF101 which is a Dual Core Tegra 2 CPU.
Both offer the docking keyboard but are two complely different animals.

I plan on buying a prime Friday, could some one explain to me how they use the prime as a GPS unit while driving so I can test this out when I get mine. Also I currently have an HTC EVO with GPS would using the prime as a GPS unit over the EVO offer any advantages?

using prime as GPS navigation device is not optimal. it won't be better than your evo, as far as GPS goes. there will be a big announcement though so stay tuned
advantage of prime, when GPS working properly, would be the larger and higher quality screen size.
don't feed into all the issues hype so much. when you get your device. use it as you would normally any other device you own. then see if and where it falls short at. If you so bent on looking for something wrong, you'll convince yourself its there. even if it isn't.
i'm actually in the same boat you are and i am currently asking the same questions. my issue is price. the ipad2 is going for $360 right now! the transformer prime 32 GB (lowest model) is going for $499. the ipad3 is going for $499. The acer iconia A510 is up for preorder on amazon for $450 for the 32gb model no gps and 5MP camera back 1MP camera front @ 1280 x 800 and this will come out shortly.
http://www.amazon.com/Acer-A510-10k...TWPU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1332977290&sr=8-1
so i'm kinda stuck. tegra 3 is much better than the apple ipad2 A5. I'll have to seriously consider the acer iconia but acer has always lacked dev support so i'll be looking to xda developers for help yet again like i am with LG. Thats not necessary a bad thing but it helps when the company supports their own products like asus. I'm also hoping that once asus sees the price on the iconia they will drop the price on the transformer prime to $450 aswell.

Thank you kindly demandarin, that actually was my point. But I thought I might just ask to possibly gain an idea as to how the tablet would be more beneficial or even practical than using my phone. I don't mean to start some forum war over GPS, but can't see the level of importance that has been placed on it that has been made in the various Prime forums. I figure if apple can sell millions of tablets without GPS like an Android tablet has, then the vast majority of the tablet buying public could care less about that feature.
I look forward to the big announcement and thank you again for your response.
If you get the transformer get it for the dock. Its a unique and awesome experience. No other tablet will ever come close in that regard. That's the reason to get a prime IMHO and its a damn good reason.
If you just want any tablet you can get the tp as well. Its awesome just as a tablet, but take a look at the other ones such as the ipad as well. If you compare the ipad and the transformer without a dock they're both good tablets with its pros and cons. But if you add the functionality of the dock the prime is on another level.

The dock is what made me buy this tablet without even thinking. Being able to manually take notes in College + Keyboard when needed + Extra battery + USB and ANOTHER SD card slot just sealed the deal.

And I was kinda in the same boat as you, I was told that the prime was in stock so I sold my OG transformer to get it. I also looked at the new ipad. I look at it like this if I want the most apps and games then I it's ipad. But for functionality, not only is it android but transformers in particular. I want the 32gb , the HDMI , the dock (for typing and game controllers), Onlive for games. Also, and I guess this is more subjective I dislike itunes and the ipad UI
I'm potentially getting a used one today to replace my iPad. I'm moving from the apple ecosystem to android. Had an android phone now for a while and would rather have a tablet as well versus incomplete syncing of the two.
I last had an android tab in January and the app scene was very bad for tablets, and I read the prime had a lot of issues.
Did either resolve?
I'm getting it cheap, so I don't mind the infinity coming out and may switch to it later. But want to get a head start on moving my extensive ecosystem to google
As a Prime owner, my advice is to stay far away from anything Asus. It's becoming clear to me they can't fix the issues in this device. I wish I never bought mine.

Wow... Sadly I don't know an alternative non-7 inch android tablet...
I feel your pain, as I'm also interested in a 10" tablet with plenty of storage, and there are no great options at this point. I'm just trying to give you a heads up. Between the slow ass I/O issues that they obviously can't fix, the firmware releases that keep fixing one thing and breaking 3 others, the cheap parts used (search the forum for LCD mura), the poor design choices (good luck connecting to a far away Wifi signal), and the terrible support (read some of the horrible RMA stories here), I wouldn't touch another Asus product with a 10 foot pole.

maybe the best will be to wait a lil bit more and see the TF700. But in any case, I really don't see the point of buying the Tf201 right now, with the 300 offering a very similar experience (imho there some quite recognisable slow downs overally speaking but it's still close enough for the price difference) for a cheaper price, and the Tf700 to be shipped in the following weeks. For those proficient in french, here is a test of the device
http://www.lesnumeriques.com/tablet...pad-infinity-tf700-avec-dock-p13514/test.html
and as far as the wifi goes, it's as smooth and stable as the 300 (if not better). So no matter how many software updates Asus is going to throw at us, it is highly unlikely that our beloved prime Tf201 (yes I still love the tablet even though it pisses me bigtime to have such a mediocre wifi connectivity) going to achieve that performance.
I would look into Samsung if i could do it again or Acer Iconia as a close second.
I would go for it! I am having a wonderful experience with my Prime. It's by far the best Imo. Forums are ruled by people seeking answers to there issues either caused by themselves tinkering with the device or just real issues. Most are quite happy. You should check out the Positive Transformer Prime thread linked to my sig. Then decide for yourself.
I have two primes and one 300. I like them all. My unlocked prime with wookie ROM is the best. It is faster than my laptop. Why not buy a prime if your getting it for a good price?

I generally agree with jj here.. I love my Prime. Yes, there's a few little quirks here and there, but nothing as world ending as some people would have you believe. Compared to the other devices on the market, I'd still go with this one if I had to again.
(Now, if a Nexus 10 comes out.. mmm.. bets might be off
As it is with anything on the internet... the 5% that have problems make up the 95% majority who scream the loudest.

That and I just can't see anyone (in their right mind) that would post positive "complaints" on a developer/troubleshooting forum...
My $.02: I have it, it's OK. I would not buy one again. Basically when you buy a Prime keep in mind that you're buying an "almost ready for beta" product.
Bottom line: if you don't mind beta testing for ASUS (yes, 8 months later and we're still beta testing) then go for it!
If you're getting it for $300 or under then do it. Otherwise go for a Galaxy Tab.
Go for it! been loving mines since I got it in dec. not everyone has issues. jjdevega summed it up best.
I think you have to accept the mindset that you are going to have to tweak your Prime to get everything just right. Coming from an iPad this will be a different experience.
Personally I have experienced all the issues mentioned above on my Prime. I even RMA'd and refunded my 1st unit. However, I have been having a lot of fun applying the different tweaks and experimenting with what works best for my individual use case. I can tell you that my Prime is absolutely BLAZING right now - it is completely stable and performance is beyond my expectations.
I was pessimistic for a long time, but now I know I prefer having the options (because of an amazing developer community) to tinker and modify.
If this is appealing to you, the Prime is a great choice.
well , i think i have been top complainer on the prime. However i love this tablet.
its not perfect yet but i trust in asus that they start working on it now the google tablet is done.
some weeks ago i was really pessimistic but developers like wookie, motley baboo, ckhtml and more, and demandarin for his help with submitting issues, gave back hope.
and tbh, asus support has been great since tf101 however something went realy wrong with ICS on both devices , cant ignore that.
conclusion: for a good price i would buy it. buy with s/n c4 or higher.
keep calm and see what asus is offering in the future. their new devices is still kinda like in beta mode, endless problems waiting to be fixed. im not even sure nexus 7 is safe to use. best is hold ur horses and see what others review abt it.
the TF700T is supposed to come out next month at $499, which is what the prime sells for new right now. so I would keep this in mind when buying a used prime...
I have had my Prime since December and it has been fine. However right now I would recommend waiting until Mid-July and buying the TF Infinity. It will start at the same base price ($500) has a better screen and a plastic panel that should fix any wifi/gps problems people have had with the Prime. Plus it is compatible with practically all TF-Prime accessories including the keyboard dock.
Right now that is likely to be the best choice for a 10" Android tablet.
good read
If money isn't an concern, I would get a prime.
I as well moved from the IPAD. It's great for what I use it for, however my wife uses it as well.
I wanted her to have her own and so I started the search for another tablet that would suit the needs I have.
After roughly three months of research it came down to two things.
Either buying a Transformer Prime or TF300. Or waiting for the TF700 to hit in July.
Personally I've seen hi-res screens, unless your a graphics designer and your going to do EXTREME graphics rendering and modeling
(which at that point you should be using a PC or MAC desktop - my thoughts that is. )
then getting the Prime is the way to go. I got mine a few days ago, and it's done everything my IPad can do + some, no issues with Wifi - havent tested the GPS because I don't need it for that.
I've used several SD cards and again no issues what so ever.
The ONLY thing I will say in making your decision, is always get the bigger storage size, I have the 64gb and It's EXACTLY what I want / need!

i second this... i have had it with Asus. i was one of the first one to get Prime cause i love android. but Asus's ability to integrate the software is driving me crazy. and not to mention how they handled GPS issue... me personally are jumping ship back to ipad..... at least i won't get ANR everything 10mins.....
I'm also happy with the prime so far. My only concern about is that after months of daily using I really see a big advantage in the 7 inch form factor in many use cases. There was a great video interview with Matias Duarte on the verge about the design of the nexus 7 tablet two days ago or so and it nailed it on the head. So my next tablet will be the Nexus one, but I'll keep the prime as well.
