[Q] anyone using the mash-up mod on cm7 w/good results? - Motorola Droid X2

Thinking about trying the mash-up mod on cm7 but can't really find anyone who said they use it on cm7 and like it. Wondering if its worth it and what improvement did u see? Thanx

I ran it for a few days then flashed the stock one back.

So no improvement? If that's the case Imma just stay stock cm7

Umm I actually flashed yesterday.. what's its supposed to do? I know I dnt have any wifi issues anymore.... not sure what to attribute it to tho

X2 Build.prop Mash-Up
This build.prop is a mash-up between navenedrob & knzo's build.prop settings. These tweaks have been optimized to allow max performance, while maintaining good battery health.
What this build.prop does:
Tweaks 3G speeds
Dalvik Improvements
Signal Improvements
Tweaks picture/video settings
Improve Wifi speeds
And a bunch of other stuff.....
Copied from his first post in his Mash Up thread. I would have quoted but I need 10 posts to try and quote from my phone.

Worked great on Eclipse for me... nothing really on CM7 IMHO.
CM7 DX2

I can attest to the signal improvements..
Sent from my MB870 using XDA

It most certainly speeds up 3G and Wifi. Keeping wifi connected is something im not so sure about...Im running mash up, Moon's wifi fix AND Wifi fixer and mine takes 2-5 minutes to connect sometimes. Shut the screen off for 2 mins and BAM!! Signal lost...
BUT, when you do get a consistent connection with either medium your system with be noticeably faster than w/o it. Videos load much quicker and even the most animation heavy page will come up in seconds.
I've also noticed I have a bit more memory free now than I used to.

Thanks. I think Imma try it out.
One more question tho. How much info on the phone is gonna get erases by just clearing cache and dalvik?

[Q] Other Tweeks After Flashing the Eclipse 0.2.2 ROM

Just flashed my first ROM a few days ago. It was the Eclipse 0.2.2. Things seem to be running well but I was wondering if there are more performance tweeks (intermediate) that I could do. I still seem to get home screen redraws. I see where some people are seeing as much as 200 mb's of free ram after the flash. I run in the 90's most of the time reaching 140 to 160 right after a reboot. To be honest that is pretty close to what I had been running since the Gingerbread update. Anyone have any performance tweeks I can make keeping in mind my relative inexperience?
Great forum and thanks for all the informative tips!!!!
Just to start out, you may want to sbf and wipe all caches and try reinstalling because I think eclipse is fast as hell. If you feel you got a clean install you can go to android dev subforum and read the init.d hack thread. I didn't notice much of a difference but I am in the minority. Most people feel the init.d hack really speeds things up

Bulletproof your launcher - that will help. Are you running any of the social network accounts? Kill 'em if so and check your RAM then. Here is a link for the bulletproof:

I change the "1" to a "0" - 1 is 'Hard to Kill' and 0 is 'Bulletproof'
Running the init.d hack with Auto Killer Memory Optimizer set to extreme had me running around 180mb free at boot and hover around 150mb for the most part. Haven't tested these long enough to see if that 150 drops further. W/out AKMO I would drop as far down as 80mb free.
Thx for that link, Mistawolfe, gonna check out bulletproofin.

I thought the init.d hack was for Froyo only? Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thread.
Look for the post authored by Navenedrob. There is/was another but I think that one is dead. Someone correct me if I'm wrong..
I would link it but I don't believe I can with the non-donated XDA app.

Wow! mistawolf that bulletproof trick really worked!!!!! Thanks for the tip.....not much luck on the free ram....what do you think of running that init.d hack with Auto Killer Memory Optimizer set to extreme as suggested by XOdos?
I removed AKMO this morning after the battery dropped 20% during my morning use: xda checks, fb updates, any email and/or txt received overnight, and market updates. Not the typical battery drop for my extended battery; a very significant drop for that matter.
I wasn't so much suggesting you try that set up as much as I was stating the combo seemed to give me more available RAM. As I've learned, every phone seems to behave differently to various settings, ROMS, kernels and hacks. I try out various combos n go from there.

Check your running services. I bet you have a couple apps just eating stuff up. I have to kill TweetCaster on occasion after viewing or else it will run in the background and gobble up RAM. I don't have any scripts or anything on 2.2 and I go anywhere from 105 to 165 free.
Also, when I used MKMO, I had it set to aggressive, or slightly aggressive, not sure the exact name.

ok I realized last night that even with the Eclipse ROM there was a lot of bloatware that still needed to be frozen. So after reviewing the suggested items throughout this forum I used Bloat Freezer to remove at least a dozen items. After a reboot I went to 187M of free Ram.....yes!!!! Happy to say I woke up with free RAM sitting at 138!!!!! I am loving my Droid X2 and this forum! Special thanks again to mistawolf who suggested bulletproofing the launcher and looking at my social systems. Didn't realize that even though I was not signed into any social accounts they were still running in the background. Now I am mean and clean!!! Thanks all!!

[Q] Gin-Sen-Tazz Data Drop Issues...

Hello,
I have been having some issues with the Gin-Sen-Tazz Rom for Eris. First of all, this ROM is AMAZING. It is extremely smooth and easy to OC my Eris on this one. The only problem is that my data just drops on its own. Now, I've been wanting to list this on the [FIX] 3g Data drops on GB Sense Roms Thread but couldn't due to my less than 10 posts (or post it on the actual Gin-Sen-Tazz ROM thread). I'm not sure if my problem is the same as those on the [FIX] 3g Data drops on GB Sense Roms Thread. I've done those steps but still it just drops. The way it does it, usually when the screen is off and after a while of inactivity, it just goes out (the whole 3g/data). As if I manually turned off the data. When I try to turn it on (either via the widget/shortcuts or through Settings) it just say "turning on..." but doesn't. I have reverted back to a different ROM but remember something saying about..."Radio" something something in the "Wireless Networks / Mobil Network" check box. The data will never turn on unless i Restart the phone and even then it turns off after a while. I've installed the ROM MANY times, done all the wipes, all the Reverting Back to Stock and all that and avoided doing the *228 AFTER the ROM install. I'm hoping one of you genius' who are inventing these things, and by the way - GREAT JOB! could help me out. Please let me know if I need to add something to this lengthy question.
Thanks!!!
Does data work alright when running stock 2.1 after flashing Flashback21 v2?
I'll post a link to your question in both the 3g data drop fix thread and the Gin-Sen-Tazz thread so more people can come and help you figure this out.
Thanks for putting this in the dev forums for us... I'll have to load up gst in the am and check, but if I'm not mistaken, there are some powersave settings that might affect that. I'll report back tomorrow.
thanks!

I'll do some digging around when I get a chance too. What radio are you using BTW? Not 100% certain its that but I know on inc certain radios don't play well with gb sense. I know when I was running gst with the hero radio I didn't have and data issues but I did with the radio from Eris ota. I'll do some digging though and see if I can find anything. One thing you can try in the meantime though. Instead of rebooting, have you tried switching airplane mode on for a few seconds then back off? Doing this usually got my data back on for me instead of having to reboot.

The 3g drop is a known issue w/that rom. It happened daily to me the entire time I was using that rom. If you reboot the phone, like the others said, you will get the data connection back. I think the airplane mode trick works too.

Yes, Sir. Works like a charm...I'm using xtraSENSE right now and it works great. I've noticed, you know how on some phones/ROM's you can go into settings and have it automatically turn off data after so long of not using it. I've had that option on my Thunderbolt (when the screen is off) and when you turn on the screen the data connects, well, its kind of like that, except, it never connects and the setting reads something like "Connecting to....." can't remember the rest. I've noticed the xtraSENSE automatically disconnects data but connects perfectly when I turn on the screen.
Thanks!

CS, yep I've tried the Airplane mode. When I do that, the mode turns on, when I turn it off, the data still does not connect...as far as Radio, I'm not sure where to find that (I even tried googling it). However, when I used that link to revert ALL back to stock and there was that option to do the radio thing as well, I did that step, too. I hope that helps and thanks a mill!

Yep, Powersave Settings lol that's the name I was looking for on my previous post. And that's a great way to explain it. I think, if that ROM had an option to turn that powersave feature off, I think that would be nice only because it would not turn off on its own. But that just seems more like a shortcut and I'm certain that, for you guys, its a piece of cake to get to the root of the glitch.
THanks!!

Yeah, I wish it'd work for me. Its a great ROM, I'd put up with it until it would get fixed.
yea post 3, 4 idk 5 more minutes
I'm ganna try turning the power save feature off on this Rom and see if that works. Great idea, never noticed that before. Only thing is for me it seems to happen more often when I receive a text or a phone call when my phones locked (or "off"). I did notice that when my phone is active and I'm using it, I see the data turn off (3g icon disappears) and I just get my phone signal, whenever I recieve a text or phone call. I have not noticed this before on other roms. But then again, I have been known to be very un-observent before....

Dunno if anyone is still following this thread, but I've had a small breakthrough with the data drop issue in the sense gb roms 3g drop issue. I had power saver mode disabled all day yesterday and my 3g never dropped! Still to early to say if this is actually working or if i was just lucky, but in my experience my 3g would drop at least 1 time a day and sometimes more. So far so good. I will report back again in a couple of days of testing to let you know if this is a working "fix".

HBOGO w/ Eclipse 2.0.3.

Can anyone confirm that HBOGO streaming over 3G works with 2.0.3? I could only get audio with 2.0.2 (I would get a poor connection notification) yet it works fine with Liberty3 on the 2.3.4 kernel.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
I've been running mine for 15minutes and no problems.
Every 5min the 'audio-only stream' screen pops up for literally only a second then goes back to video.
Given it's 2am here (less users on the towers), but I'm gravy. I used to get the audio prompt bc i'm always over the 2gb of data that denotes when Verizon starts to throttle your data speeds.
I'm going to run it in the morning, well, later in the morning when many ppl are on the towers and see if my stream is consistent. This will better help me determine the Unthrottle mod is working. Check the link if you want to see what other scripts I'm running and how I installed the Unthrottle mod. We need more testers anyways. Report back with details of use and speedtest.net results from their app, if you decide to try it out. I also edited my build.prop to balltongue's recent revision to his mashup-prop (v5b).

Just hit the 25 minute mark and still no problems. Btw, where are you located and what's the traffic like there?

Here's my report for the day:
At about 7 am, I went on HBO GO and streamed a movie for 20 minutes. No real problems.
Noon: Slower data connection bc of East Coast loners browsing the web as they eat lunch by themselves, but still no major problems in HBO GO. The audio notification popped up again and the screen flickers every minute or so. Edit- (haha, as I read this post over, I realized now that I was streaming at lunch. I don't even know what was playing. Just had it going to see if the audio notification broke the video stream. I spend more time exploring more about my phone than actually enjoying my phone with an app like HBO's. I think I've only used HBO GO like twice outside this last Christmas vacation. I have been looking earnestly for a way to get Hulu on our phone, not really because I'd use it a lot but just bc we found a loophole and to know we can. Speaking of which, if you're reading this edited rant, sign the petition to tell Motorola we want an unlocked bootloader so we have the option to do what we want with our phone.)
3:30pm: Schools out. People bored at work. Speednet data results are on a rollercoaster (inevitable). Before I added the changes/scripts, there is no way I could enjoy a movie before the audio stream came on. Morning or night because I'm always over the 2gb data mark.
As of right now, I've downloaded 5gb of data and can stream HBO GO with only minor interruptions.
-The screen flickers every 30-60sec.
-Every 1min-2min the audio notification will pop up for 3-5seconds.
Overall, I'd take those small hiccups over the frustratingly long pauses prior.
Something worked.
Battery Life: This is what is getting me right now. My phone is fast, as is data, but my BATTERY LIFE IS TERRIBLE. I don't know how everything works, or if I'm running too many scripts at once, but I don't know if performance speed or data performance drains my phone faster. If anyone has any incite on this matter or the thread in general, please share.
O...I'm recalibrating my battery at the moment, but that has never really done much to help in the past. It's my first time since I flashed Eclipse 2.0.3, so it will hopefully be better.
What edits did you make to the build.prop? Besides Eclipse, what did you change/add/run?
I'm getting pretty good battery life ATM but since today is my day off I've only been using my phone lightly. I also have GreenPower Pro (it's an app very similar to JuiceDefender) monitoring and throttling my 3G data.
Immediately after flashing Eclipse 2.0.3 I turned off my wifi, booted into BSR, and flashed the Battery Fix, Speedy, and the 2.3.5 Mash Up. The only thing I manually edited in the build.prop after this was the 'Set market for 2.3.4' tweak.
I will continue to monitor my battery. I did notice that my battery immediately drops to 99 once I remove it from the charger, but this is a small glitch I can live with.
Now I could not get my phone to stream audio over bluetooth in my Ford Flex using SYNC.
Great.

Interesting. I just streamed bluetooth audio in my sister's Prius yesterday. We were in there for a while and, no lie, I was able to stream Pandora, music on my hard drive, and make one phone call home. I'm afraid you'd have to go to one of these phone gurus for this one.
There is a way to remove Unthrottle. Reflash your ROM. Just wipe cache/dalvik. No loss in data. You lose other scripts like Speedy v7 and v6. Have to re-install those. Or maybe try and just replace that file in the motorole.providers.settings folder with the original file you can extract from your ROM zip. I also don't remember if there is an option in the Unthrottle menu that allows you to uninstall. Or maybe just try it again tomorrow. OR
It appears others have the issue with BT as well (in the official thread).
My phone pairs with devices, but does not connect with them.

So far this morning's battery life does seem a little better, so far it's around 1% less of a drain per hour. Data still does seem quicker, like it doesn't have to have wait time to connect and start data, data just works instantly when requested. I'll have more numbers later tonight
Also post what tweak you used, is it the same I posted or you played with it?

So I added these three lines to my buildprop on Jooker's CM10:
ro.mot.eri.losalert.delay=10000 (or simply play with this value for best results )
persist.ril.uart.flowctrl=10 ( I'm using value of 99)
ro.ril.gprsclass=32
The results? After 14 hours on battery I was at 51%. That's only 3.61% drop an hour. (This is only my results and you'rs will vary) The best rate of battery drop per hour I have had on Joker's CM10 so far has been 4.4% so that is almost a 1% less battery. I do believe this is helping and over the next couple of days I'll see if this average stays the same. Thanks matriX1218

I was on wifi for 6 hours. But the comparison I made was also using wifi for about 6 hours at work before I made the tweak. After a couple of days later I have found I will keep this mod on all new roms since it seems to have helped some. Thanks again for finding this information I hope it helps others like it helped me
I added the first line, but my build.prop does not contain the second two variables. OP, do you mean I should find those variables and change their values to the ones you specify?
I added the first one (ro.mot.eri.losalert.delay=10000) and put a comment above it.
While looking, I saw a date format setting. I changed it from MM-dd-yyyy to dd-MM-yyyy, saved (that, plus adding the line and its comment above) and rebooted. I don't see where the date format changed. Maybe I should change it back? Haha.
If you don't find any line, you can add it manually... it won't mess your phone..

[Q] 4g data speed & Beans

Hey guys,
I feel that my data speed has gotten a lot slower and my signal has not been as strong expecially indoors... I flashed beans first... Then went clean rom... Then tried CM but nandroided to clean rom real quick... Then clean installed beans 5 and sticking with it... I just feel like everything seems a little slower and also signals been going in and out and battery life hasn't been great lately... I know these seem like a lot of variables and I don't have much data but wondering if anyone has any tricks? Like places I usually had full service bars I only have 3 now (I know bars don't mean much)... But any way I was wondering if I should Odin back to stock and start over? Thanks for the help!
