hey guys,my first post here, tho been reading a lot on XDA...
i'm currently running Turl's V9 CM9 with 1.3Faux kernel,my question is should i update my radios aswell?and if i do?which one should i use?
my carrier is Pelephone in Israel.
another question : what are the effects of those radios on the device?
Hello.
As far as I remember, when flashing cm7/cm9 the radio doesn't change and so it should still work.
I used CM7, CM9 and blur based ROMs and had no issues with the radio. (I'm on Rami Levi)
Generally different radios could either improve or worsen reception over the cell network (and WiFi?) also might improve or worsen battery drain.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it .
Ok thanks for the answer, thought it was important, now i see it's not
Sent from my CM9 1.3Ghz Atrix 4G
European 100 radio is OK in Orange Israel.
Not sure for Pelephone.
Effects? Mostly in how your WiFi and GPS work.
I still have the stock N_01.95.00R from orange, never bothered changing it and it works fine with rami levi.
is there a page which lists all the released radio versions?

I just flashed everything on Liquids page for the Thunderbolt Gingerbread 3.0 because after reading lots of comments, people seemed to think it was a good build.
I flashed the rom, then Imoseyon lean kernel, then the MR2 radio linked there.
After doing this I went from full bars and 4g to one bar and really slow 3g.
Using the app Phone Info to try and turn on my 4g radio didn't work because there is no listing for a 4g radio. In fact I now have options for GSM radios and one unknown listing.
Can anyone help me get my full signal strength and 4g back please?
I searched a ton for a couple hours now and couldn't find anything posted that would help me.
baseband version 1.48.00.0906w_1, 0.01.78.0906w_2
The radio is the newest radio just release by VZ. Sounds like you are running an AOSP rom if you are having the option as i had this happen to me once. Try setting it to the unknown setting. Maybe that rom won't work out well for you. Or you could try a sense based and possibly have better results. I would personally start off with flashing an alternate gingerbread radio, then maybe try a different rom. Also might want to have a rom booting up before you try a kernel, that too could be a problem. You did a lot at once so it's kinda hard to pin point the problem.
Ok, I will try another radio from the big list that is stickied.
Setting my phone to unknown just makes my phone lose all signal reception; the bars disappear.
None of the linked radios are working I guess I will try Cyanogenmod...
If you can get cm working using a gingerbread radio and default kernel, i would keep that radio and try liquids rom again not updating the kernel at first. Then if you get satisfactory speeds, etc, backup that, then mess with the kernel. Do it step by step until it works, or you find the problem. One thought, did you have the radio set to cdma only on the last sense rom you tried, or did you have it set to cdma+lte. Along time ago i forgot to reset it from cdma only and couldn't connect to lte on a AOSP till i changed it back.
Hrm, I don't remember exactly what the setting was on my stock Sense ROM. I did like to turn off 4g though to save battery.
I just tried Cyanogen and while it loaded fine, and replaced the kernel, it gave me the same radio problems. I flashed to the radio recommended on the CM7 page.
So should I flash a stock sense rom, enable 4g, then try Cyanogen or Liquids?
I just flashed [ROM][6/30/2011]2.01.605.0- Basic Debloat v2.1.1 and didn't change the radios from the newest GB listing and I regained my 4g and signal strength.
I wonder what is up with my phone and CM7 and Liquid both not able to use 4g?
At least I feel calmer now. I was kinda freaking out there for a little bit...
Did you try CM7 with the stock kernel? Or did you replace it right away? Maybe try a different IMO kernal, a slightly older AOSP to see if it works.
Well, CM7 listed a different kernel than what I had previously installed, so i left it alone.
When I flash to a Sense ROM, everything works fine. AOSP ROMS are giving me trouble when I switch from an "unknown" LTE radio to CDMA in phone info. I immediately lose signal and the radio pretty much is fubar'd.
If i set my phone to 4g in a Sense ROM, then goto CM7 or LGB, it works fine until I try to change the radio. I guess i just need to leave the radio alone in AOSP's.
I am trying out some different ROMS to find the best one that works for me....
I REALLY like LGB though, even with the finicky radio. Perhaps leaving the 4g radio on will be ok for battery life.... I would just really like to get the better part of a day out of it with moderate usage.
Thanks for the replies man, I appreciate it.
I have a motorola atrix 4g which is rooted, bootloader unlocked, deodoxed, and all that good stuff.
im running Neutrino Rom 2.2, which is a CM7 based ROM.
im using Faux's 1.30Ghz OC Kernal
and 1.77.33p Radio
i am with the rogers network, although the phone is from bell.
so my question is, which Radio should i be using?
i moved up to 1.77.33 from 1.05.07 ( something like that), i dont mind a good battery life, although its not the most important to me, i just need 6 or 7 hours during school, i would enjoy my 3g speeds to be increased though..
any help would be greatly [email protected]
Hey,
Sorry but I'm having a hard time of making sense of all the different Radio options.
When you flash a ROM does it install it's own generic Radio? Are you then expected to flash an alternative one to improve battery life and data speeds?
I'm located in Toronto with a Bell Atrix CM7.2 RC1 with a base band version N_01.07.05P(I'm assuming that is the radio). Lurking in the radio threads I can see that there are several different Bell radios. Should I be testing each Bell version to see which one gives me the best personal results, or is their a general consensus that one version is the best?
Also, I'm still pretty much a newb to all this, is their any warnings or issues that I should look out for when flashing radios(bricking, etc)?
Thanks
You should try different Bell radios. Some ROMs work better with particular radio version...
I don't know why everyone is claiming that these 3 radio packages enable 3G on the i717. I've tried all 3 and twice each from different sources. I CWM the ATT radio back on it and it's returned to 2G.
I would've bought the N7000 and not taken the risk on an international sim not liking all the hackdoolery going on in my phone. Now I have that concern PLUS I'm not getting the 3G that was the deciding factor in the N7000/i717 decision.
Any thoughts? Perhaps I am missing a setting or something? All I get with the 3 non ATT radios is a little x in the greyed out signal meter /|
If you followed the directions correctly you should be getting 4G on the 1700 band. It does work because I am currently using it. Maybe your area has bad signal?
hmmm
It probably does work. The signal is 2G 5 bars, this is elevated in Manhattan, there's always good signals from all carriers. The meter reads /x| though. I tried the only available settings after installing each of the radios, GSM or GSM/LTE and perhaps one other.
I lose the IMEI with the non ATT radios. No signal. Nothing. As soon as I flash ATT it goes to 5 bars of wonderfully slow 2G...
I've finally got settings, accounts and apps installed so I might try flashing a radio again but I'm exhausted of much else.
I really don't know what could be wrong. Perhaps its the wicked humidity and the lingering high toxicity thick gaseous farts making the air heavy and my mind less clear. It really screws up my zen.

What ROM are you using with the modems? I am on OnlyOne B4 with KID ICS modem from tspx23. I'm getting 3g speeds. It makes a difference what ROM you are on because of the UCLD or UCLE based ROM. There are a lot of different modems for ICS but make sure you got the right one for the right ROM. You should at the very least get above EDGE speeds.

The radios were from xda and another site. its on stock radio now. If you could refer me to the radio I need, I'll give it a try. I'm unsure about doing it before the weekend as this caused 1 day of downtime midweek so.... I need to get busy! I'll give it a whirl this weekend unless I feel brave this evening.
The leaked sll radio or the blaze 4g found in this thread should work...I'm in NY and they work fine, just not 100% stable

You are using an UCLE3 ROM but to my knowledge, all the modems that are out are for UCLE2. I know it's troublesome, but I would suggest trying a new ROM based off of UCLE2 or even gingerbread to see if you can get a nice full speed 3g on Tmobile. That way at least you know the hardware and radio is good. I like AOKP, but for now I'm using OnlyOne B4 (B5 should be out tonight with some more Galaxy S3 goodies) See my signature.
This is Jeet92's version for ICS (works with UCLE2)

That works much better than the stock radio.
I feel very stupid for paying $924 for that iPhone 4S 64GB factory unlocked that I had since December. It was cool getting it direct from Foxconn though.
This makes everything ok. Thank you.

There is no UCLE3 as far as I know
.....
It is UCLE3.
Whatever this variant it is, it doesn't have Japanese language support. The SIP support is also gone, I saw another poster mention that too. Its stripped of all the good stuff.
This is certainly not the CM I had on the Evo 4G.... The options on that CM were extensive to say the least. It gave one the best attempt at absolute control of every aspect of the device.
By comparison, the CM9 I have on this Note is only a slight deviation from the stock OS. I'm guessing that all the efforts at custom ROMs are getting rather diverse over the years, or perhaps this one is just not as good as the mainstream ones? I noticed how many models of Android there are as opposed to when it was just the Evo and a couple others, it's definitely had an effect...
Perhaps the best way to describe it is quality verses quantity. The collective "milk" intellect of all the dev's is no longer in the milk jug, it is now spread throughout several hundred coffee cups, very, very diluted.
Please sir, may I have some more? For the Galaxy Note i717???!!!
I am about to flash this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312201
I'm wondering which radios will work with this. I'm new to rooting/flashing, fyi. I've been studying immensely.
The reason I'm wanting to flash a new rom is because I'm running cyano 7.1.1 and my bluetooth piece will no longer connect to my phone. Would you folks recommend I flash a new rom? Or only new radios?
The current radios I have are: 1.48.00.0817r AND 0.01.78.0802w_3.
ALSO, if I may ask, what is the difference between RUU and Radios? How are the two linked?
Thank you very much.
Radios really aren't rom specific. more like whatever works best on your phone.. sometimes updating to a radio that works or fixes someone else's problem isn't necessarily going to fix someone else's . If that makes sense.. I honestly haven't changed radios since I first rooted in 2011..
Really what works great for one person might not work great for you. Most you can do is just try different radios over s few days and come up with your own conclusions of what worked better on your phone.
reestipt reactions.
RUU = rom upgrade utility. Basically usually the stock roms from HTC.
The radio usually affects signal quality and speed.
