Hi guys. Yesterday I bought my new EVO 3d. I wanted to ask if it has gorilla glass. I think it doesn't.

Yes it does. If you look at Corning's website, they list it. I'm too lazy to get the link.

Well, both technically. The HTC page doesn't say that it doesn't have Gorilla glass. It just doesn't specify that it does.

whilst debating the purchase of this phone. i read it came with gorilla glass and so was happy. as on my old hd2 i managed to break the screen. On that phones forum on here it was agreed the hd2 did not have gorilla glass. However, that link to the corning website states the hd2 does have it. Maybe it came later in the life of the hd2? I hope so.
Yes it has gorilla glass. How do i know this?
I took a key and 80 grit sandpaper to my screen and it came out unharmed.

I've had the thunderbolt for 4 days now and have a very light scratch going down the center of the screen. This is very very disappointing the phone hasn't been groped or anything its mint except for that. This is the only phone I have ever gotten a scratch on the screen. Anyone else had this happen to them? Is the screen plastic and not glass? If so what a joke.
The scratch is so light I'm think it may have been there when I received it and just now noticed it. I really hope its glass because I hate screen protectors.
It's made of pixie dust, mermaid scales, and unicorn horns.....
It's glass.
Dear *** ****
I understand that you would like to know if we used Gorilla glass on the Thunderbolt.
***, HTC devices have screens made out of a proprietary formula of glass, not Gorilla Glass.
For further information and a list of devices that utilize Gorilla Glass, refer to the following link:

No matter what any screen is made of, it is still possible to scratch it. Products like gorilla glass just make it more difficult to scratch.

Even with the Thunderbolt listed on the Gorilla Glass page there certainly are a lot of scratch/screen complaint threads.
Perhaps we got an inferior grade of Gorilla ... like Chimpanzee Glass.

Guess it all depends on how careful you are with your phone. I've had my hd2 for 14 months. It has gorilla glass. Not one scratch. Looks the way it did the day I bought it.
I am kind of surprised that people still use this stuff. Have had my Hero from day one and not a scratch on it (I don't believe his is gorilla glass either, heck I don't even have a case for it and only problems are from the buttons wearing off).
I also wonder if putting a screen protector on it will change the 3D effects going on.
oh yea, good question. i thought about that, but what the heck, its only $11
I used a zagg on my hero for a long time. Then it got some sorry of crap on it that wouldn't come. So I removed it and went with just the screen. I must admit, at first I was thoroughly surprised with its durability but it did scratch. Twice. Big deep ones. And I don't even know how. I keep it in a body glove case and I take good care of it.
Idk, I think screen protectors are a good thing but its just personal preference I guess.

I also used Zagg on my Evo and also on my wife's. Ended up going naked on the screens and neither one of ours have scratches on the screens. Just can't keep in your pocket with change or keys etc.

Here comes the gorilla glass argumemt again. Have you never seen an iphone with a scratched screen? Ive seen countless that are just terrible. Gorilla glass can be scratched by sand and their is sand in dirt and probably in your pocket. It might be harder to break but i dont think its too much harder to scratch.

If the gorilla glass doesnt effect it i dont think a screen protector will. Surely we would of heard reports of that by now with the optimus 3d. The matte ones could have some sort of effect.

That is awesome. I mean, I can't picture trying it myself. But is the lte using the same screen as One X? Also, random, I hate the One X screen the way it sticks up out of the chassis.
Also, I was in a sprint store today, and the rep scratched a Motorola photon screen with a set of keys, repeatedly to show how resistant the screen is. No damage. Said they've been doing it every day for fun. But, does Evo have same glass as photon? Rep didn't know and I've never investigated.

this video is amazing! makes me wonder if i really need my otter box defender now. LOL
sprint store i went to today had an htc rep there. i asked him what kinda screen it was. he told me himself that it was gorilla glass 2. i even asked him if he was sure, he said he was. he seems very knowledgable about htc products cuz he answered all my questions even though i already knew the answers
Hmm, this is interesting. So, wouldn't it make sense that if a manufacturer as big and as marketing savvy as HTC was going to sell a flagship phone such as this that came equipped with GG/GG II, they would be advertising it as a selling point? Not trying to troll my own thread but it seems like they've done this in the past with their other phones as well. I wonder why?

In a way it's some sort of a metaphor. Trying to convey that the one X can withstand that much damage to the screen. Something the iphone can't do.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA
Most phones with Gorrilla Glass would be able to survive that. It's really strong against straight on impact. If you were to drop it on its side, at an angle, it would crack.
Still pretty impressive to see though.
I think it is the same glass with nokia lumia 900, so, what lumia 900 can do ,also one x can do.
And this is not the cellphone manufactuer's proud, it is the glass manufactuer Corning who make the powerful glass.

See to my mind....scratches on the screen are more of an issue than screen's smashing, because if you drop the phone, scratches will appear on the screen whether you've smashed it or not. Gorilla glass isn't scratch proof its shatter proof (so far)
