[Q] Z-axis movement - HTC Titan

Hi All,
I love my Titan, its a great phone.
The only issue is the very slight movement of the main body in the case. There is a tiny bit of what I can only describe as z-axis movement, where the screen moves a little relative to the body. Has anyone tried a fix e.g putting a little bit of card to stop the screen moving against the springs?
Cheers

That same anomaly was noted in a review be engadget or cnet or someone. I'm not convinced it is not designed this way to absorb the shock if dropped. Anyway, I bought the HTC hard case and no problems.
Cheers!

Fragile / weak external display

Hi fellas,
Recently got a brand new QTEK 8500 for my nephew, just 16 right now but the deal was nice so I went ahead. He's been delighted with the phone, at least until this afternoon...
A while ago he has shown me his broken/cracked external screen. Being young and somewhat careless I've told him he probably hit the phone against something without noticing, yet he's kept telling me that was not the case; the screen still has the original protection film and not a single scratch. After speaking with my sister (nephew's mother), I got a bit suspicious so went and googled some evidence about the fragility of this phone's outer display. Check here for example:
Cingular 3125 too fragile? Cracked external LCD
Cinguler 3125 external screen broken, Replacements?
Cingular 3125 | Comments
You see where I ended up... It's surprising I haven't been able to find any related thread here. I'm really wondering if none of you has had a single cracked screen from regular use on this device
Anything to tell anyone? I'm going to email HTC tomorrow and see what they have to say about this; not putting much hope tough
Cheers,
Barkuti
I am on of the first QTEK 8500 User in Austria (i think so LOL) my device is in Business use over 2 Years!! My device have hit the ground ... i have kick the phone on the wall after some on bug me a lot ... what ever.
no damage display
no damage mechanismus
work realy good
put the only thing i do ... if i put any handy in my pocket ... no keys or other items like lighter are in this pocket at the same time. if i put it in a bag ... the same.
the display is robust like razor v2 or better
No Issues for over four years. Possible cause for your screen failing is flexing as this is the weekest mode. Particular problems with tight pockets, dropped into a book bag or back pack against other objects, etc...
i must say for the months that i used my startrek, the case got rather beat up, but had no problems with the screens. the phone works great (i love the clamshell, but missed the touchscreen and keyboard of ppc's). More than likely he hit the corner of something that landed on the ext. display
I had a similar thing happen int he first week of owning the phone. It had been in my pocket and I don't recall hitting against anthing, but the screen was shattered internally. No marks of any sort on the outside.
Major bummer.
The same old story.Mine too had a cracked lcd without even letting the lid to close on its own force I was closing it it very gently. Some of them might be defective (Different production lines?).They have so many reports but they will not accept it

Touchball - Anyone Losing Accuracy?

So I've had my g1 for a few months now, and I'm noticing that the accuracy or sensitivity of my trackball is fading. The texture of the trackball seems to have worn off quit a bit, its now quite smooth and has less friction to its grip. Also sometimes when I click, it does a double click (more often than not). I noticed this mostly during games of Retro Defense.
Anyone know information regarding replacing the trackball?
I wish I could reduce the sensitivity - the dam thing scrolls like crazy.

My trackball has lost so much sensitivity that I know have to apply extra pressure to it. It is quite different from both of the other G1's in my family.
I'm trying to contact T-Mobile's CS.
i think there is a tutorial out there to take apart the phone piece by piece if your one to test things out... if i find the link ill post it
About once a month I find I have to turn the phone upside down and rub the trackball against my sheets to get it to respond consistantly.

[Q] Inking Performance

Anyone having trouble with inking on the Jetstream? I have noticed one area on the screen that consistently produces poor results. Everywhere else is fine, in portrait mode there is one area that stretches across the screen that does not ink well. I have tried Quills, Lecture Notes, Antipaper, among others and the problem is consistent. I have a similar issue with my HTC Flyer. Just one area on the screen does not produce faithful inkinng. Just wondering if anyone else has the same problems.
I also face this problem over a particular part of the screen - but it is mainly with the notes app. Quill does not give me as much as a trouble. Assumed it was because of the scratches on the screen guard that my young cousin made with the scribe pen.. May be some other problem then perhaps..
Is there a palm reject area?

Click to collapse
I use Quill which has exceptional palm rejection, but I also tried turning that off and had the same result. I thought the problem was that the tablet could not keep up with the inking, but inking slowly produces the same result in this area of the screen. I tried it with the screen protector on and off, same thing. Also, the screen seems to be in perfect condition. Good news is that the flyer is working better after removing the protector. Was hoping the jestream fix would be as easy by no luck there. Already called HTC so I think I am just going to document and send it in.

It definitely got to be the screen digitizer problem.
I'm currently using the flyer and the problem I face is that sometimes the pen just becomes overly sensitive. All I have to do is Unscrew the battery cover and then screw it back again.
Have a similar problem as well, didn't happen on my flyer.

[Q] Issues after replacing glass: Black out and self typing during calls

Hello all, and XDA developers,
I'm a short time lurker, and flasher, but that's besides the point. I've started my own business repairing phones and I've gotten very good at it, I have extremely fair prices, and this is putting me through college.
I've ran into an issue and I can't figure it out. I try to stay up to date on phones since my job requires that I work on phones, and although I couldn't find all the information about the hardware under the screen of the SGS4 i decided to replace a broken glass screen any way..... well now I have a dissatisfied customer on my hands and i'm doing everything in my power to rectify the situation.
What I did:
I used a heat gun to lightly heat the screen of my customers broken phone, like I have done many times before with other models of phones. I scraped off the old glass, cleaned the glue out thoroughly with alcohol and a small piece of microfiber (like for cleaning screens and glasses). I laid down 3m tape (possibly in the wrong place). Put the new glass on, and PRESTO done.......
The result:
A beautiful new screen, but the wake up motion doesn't work any more (where you swipe your hand across the screen w/o actually touching it), and the screen automatically blacks out once a call is placed. This may be because of where i placed the tape, but a new issue has reared it's ugly head...... It's typing now... by itself.... during calls and at other times. She wanted a different color for the screen and i told her that I will replace the screen and fix the issues all in one motion, but I'm not sure what is making it type on its own. Does anyone have any clue as to what could be causing this issue? I have until the afternoon of 9/25 Central time (UTC-06:00)
Thank you to everyone for existing, this forum, even if it doesn't resolve this issue, is simply a work of art by mad geniuses from all over the planet. I love everyone of you.

Note 7 first drop test video

Kinda surprising from such a low drop
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sLcN0pDjqg
ouch it hurts ^^
Little bit of a concern, but because the glass is curved it weakens the structure. But it is expected for an all glass phone. Great video though, check out my YouTube channel i specialise in tech reviews especially phone's and accessories, I would appreciate your input and support, http://www.youtube.com/c/ramheer

Meh... if it did that well with no case, it should do fine with a case. Seems a whole lot better than my lg g2. Shattered 3 screens and got hair line fractures in 2 (which all rendered the touch screen useless) from much shorter drops with a decent case. It's that screen weakness that drew me over to Sammy in the first place... I've dropped my note 4 a bunch of times, and had no issues yet....
He made a hammer test as well and the note 7 resisted pretty well, maybe the edges are a bit more fragile than we would like, but the screen is very strong
nothing that a case can't handle, you will need one to avoid the fingerprint magnet anyway
can't post links yet, here is the youtube code
