[Q] Email Crashing - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I just got my Bell Galaxy Note yesterday and so far I love it but when I try and access my exchange email the app crashes right away every single time I open it.
Has anyone seen this and solved it?

Any Ideas?
As another note the S Note app crashes consistently then I choose I template.

Try to install another mail app from the market to see if it's the same. I removed stock email app anyway and using Moxier Mail (for Exchange) + Gmail app (for Gmails and Yahooz)

[Request] Can someone please port the email.apk from the Charge

I know this sounds crazy but the email app from the Charge works with my Roadrunner email account - the email app from the Fascinate does not. I tried to push it with root explorer on my rooted Fascinate but it force closes when i launch it. Anyone wiling to help? Thanks so much.
my roadrunner works on mine. what problem are you having?
I get connection problems. I am on the roadrunner.com server not rr.com and the incoming and outgoing settings take when setting up but when checking email, it gives a connection problem via a yellow bar that appears.
Settings I use:
u: [email protected]
pop-server.roadrunner.com 110
mobile-smtp.roadrunner.com 25
I'm having this issue with my hotmail account. I had to download a hotmail app.

I've read other posts where its been a known issue with the fascinate's email app and how it interacts with certain pop3 servers. I think they resolved it in the Charge since I tried my email account on co-worker's phone.
Just use another email app
Thanks, but with all due respect, that's not the point...if the gps didn't work, then just buy a garmin? And if the phone camera froze when taking pics then just use a traditional camera?
Try searching for the email.apk from the Galaxy Tab. That works on our phones, and mighty fix your problem.
I use pop-server.cinci.rr.com since I'm in Cincinnati. Double check your server address. It works great on my fascinate on the tw email app.

Why don't you just have your gmail get it for you?

This make absolutely no sense. I said just get another email app, There are definitely email apps in the Market. Your telling me to go spend money on something else. If your normal email app doesn't work just go get another app, its not hard.
Here you go Even deodexed it for you
I pushed file to system/app thhen changed permissions and removed the old email.apk but when I reboot, I get a looping forceclose of the process com.android.email even before I attempt o launch it. Has anyone else tested this?
I copied the Galaxy Tab email.apk from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=810454
Root Explorer - copy\move existing email.apk to a backup folder and then copy\move new .apk to app folder. Clicked on it, installed, and reconnected to email account.
sadly, corporate email administrator settings for security lock on screen timeout still doesnt work. Otherwise, it works and looks nice.
Update: suddenly stopped delivering new mail and no manual refresh button. If these 2 things can be resolved by a developer this would be a great email app on the Fascinate, though it does have a distinct ipad feel to it. . Pinch zoom works and in landscape you can roll each pane separately.
Second Update: tried flashable version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12011499#post12011499
gives manual refresh option, but is not working with Exchange. ( wont download current day mail, only day prior and beyond). sending works fine.
supposedly works with non- Exchange accounts.

[Q] Why samsung stock email app is so slow

I'm running on CF-Root + Siyah 1.2.6 kernel + stock ROM (+ modified NFC_screen off). ROM is XXLE8.
I've been using the stock email since the begining (with only root & stock rom) with 3 Exchange accounts synced.
Email app is taking forever to launch. Navigation in email app is laggy.
Whenever I want to move emails to subfolders, it takes ages to get the whole list.
I'm still running a Samsung Captivate Glide (Rogers ROM, root, OC @1.3GHz) with Android 2.3.5 : email stock app synced with these 3 exhange email accounts: it is clearly faster, no latency at all.
Even when it comes to load the same subfolders to move emails ...
Right now, it is really the worse "email user experience" I had.
Thought ICS would do better than that. :-(
Anybody else experiencing this ?
Is there any tweaks to make this app much, much faster ...
Is there a way to replace this "Samsung stock email app" (I guess) with the standard ICS one (only if it is faster) ?
Thanks
i have noticed none of the problems you experied with the email app. though i am only using it with one account synced. The app launches instandly and never lags or something similar, try removing 2 of your accounts and see if the problem is still there. its the only thing i can think of now, if the problem persists maybe another app you installed interferes with the email app and causes problems or...?

I removed one account ...same. Slow as "usual".
I remoed 2 accounts (only one left) ... same.
I wiped the whole device. Reset to factory defaults.
Loaded one Exchange account: email app was definitely faster.
Added a second one (Exchange) ... started to get slow ... Not as slow as it was, but slower.
Found a thread mentionning a way to replace Samsung stock email app with ICS email app. Going to try that...
Same very annoying problem here.
Any chance to get the stock nexus email apk here?

Android E-Mail vs. GMail Apps

Am I the only person that hates the Gmail App from the market and would rather use the email app?
Right now I've got both a Samsung Galaxy Gio running CM7 and an LG Eclypse (aka MyTouch Q) running CM9 and for both of them I far prefer e-mail to gmail. Although they're very similar as far as the basic UI goes, I find that the gmail app has quite a few problems with attachments and images. Sometimes it will show me the text of an email for about 2 seconds and then go blank white. I have none of these problems with E-Mail.
I just want to see who else is like-minded on this... Thoughts? Comments?
I used to have the white display issues on both Gmail and Email.
I found that if I force closed the app and started it again, the problem disappeared.
I haven't had this problem again since moving to JB.

You'll love K9-Mail. It's based on the original Android email app.
I have to send attachments through my gmail app because my android mail has problems sending attachments via Microsoft Exhange Server....

GMail is a lot better. It groups all emails with same subject in 1 line. It's huge advantage
I like the android one, its a lot more simple. Gmail sometimes take forever to sync, I gave up on that thing a long time ago.

Stock e-mail vs Gmail app

So folx, tell me which one do you prefer and why?
Im currently using Gmail app, but i wanted to ask for your oppinion.. Im in dillema between gmail app and stock email app for @gmail.com mails..
Thanks
In stock email you can attach all types of files. Which is impossible in gmail app that offer to attach only a video or a picture.

Other than that ? Can you decrease font in stock app ?
i use stock app because of other site's mail account.
but using gmail app seems to be nice, too
stock has support for air view (awesome), multiple accounts (gmail, yahoo, aol, etc), nice widget
Well, one thing that is keeping me off the stock is following :
I have student email on my university... And i merged that with gmail acc, and it is set up on gmail account so when i go compose new on gmail i can choose from which account to send... I cant do that on stock email app
R: Stock e-mail vs Gmail app
I have attached several times non-video, non-photo files, just using total commander as backend.

I don't get much time to play with my phone, but if I had time I'd uninstall that crappy Gmail app.
I can't say a single advantage of it over the stock email app. I like the email sent notification of stock email app if that's an advantage, I like smooth multi touch it provides, I like how the body of an mail is formatted and so on so on...
That update of Gmail app have saved it from at least 10000 uninstallation, if that's the word, Lol.

You've gotta be kidding me right?
Gmail 4.2.1 is the very definition of smoothness.
Stock email app is choppy as hell, even in this monster of fast and smooth phone.
Don't get me wrong, with the new MA5 update, stock email is much smoother than before, but still pales in comparison to Gmail
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Two differences that I know of:
1. The gmail app syncs chats but the stock email app doesn't.
2. The email notification generated by gmail when a user receives a ping when he or she is offline is synced by the gmail app but not by the stock app.

Hi
How to remove or disable gmail app? i dont want to use it
I came from iPhone and i've noticed problems in both apps.
- Gmail: No unified inbox, conversation view can be better (like iOS stock Mail app)
- Mail: No conversation view at all (and it's definitely not a good thing) and no push mail from gmail
In my daily usage i use gmail for the push service and the conversation view. But i think that iOS mail app and Gmail for iOS are better.
I've used all the other mail clients for Android and every app has some problem.

You can use the m.google.com exchange server, although I don't know how much longer that will exist.
I hate the black background on Stock Email, if you driving in car you will have problems to read, that is better on white background wit black fonts like on gmail app! So i would like only getting white background on stock mail app! Everything elese works (but surely, on my HTC ONE X) it`s much smoother! I´m on Omega 11 in moment!

I hate conversation view and that's why I disabled it in Gmail settings, maybe that's why I don't see conversation view in Gmail app as well. How do you enable conversation view in Gmail app?
And the stock email app has an option of conversation view. You can see it by pressing menu. However I don't know what it does as I haven't used it yet.
And the email client in iOS is way better than any Android client I've ever used.

You could use 'negative colours' under Accessibility. It'll make the background white. Just make a shortcut of Accessibility option which is accessible via Post key.
Also you could use the lighter email text mod of Xposed, not bad.

You can attach any file type in gmail.
If you have a file explorer installed, click attach picture, choose your file explorer as the method and then pick the file you want.
A bit dumb that you have to do it that way but it works. Lol.
I use each alternatively depending on who I'm emailing.
Also my gmail pushes mail just fine

I personally disabled the stock email app and replaced it with Aqua Mail.
I find it perfect for what I need.
Gmail app only has a problem: can´t attached all file types, so I´m using both aplications; gmail app only with gmail account and stock email with hotmail account to attached all file types.

[Q] Exchange support not showing in Gmail app

I'm coming from an HTC M8 and have been using my work exchange emails from within the Gmail app since support was added late last year. However, the gmail app on the S6 Edge does not have Exchange as an option when adding an account - just POP and IMAP.
Is there something I'm missing, or has Samsung disabled email clients other than their own from using exchange?
Have you updated all the apps in the Play Store?
I'm having the same issue on my Galaxy S6. All of my apps have been updated in the Play Store. Any ideas? I don't want to have to run two email apps to get my work email... (I really hate exchange servers)

I can't speak to that as I haven't disabled the stock email app, however I did find a solution to this problem as discussed in another thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/themes-apps/gmail-exchange-support-t3070884
The problem appears to be that Samsung blocks the Google Exhange APK in the Play Store. However, you can still download the APK and install it after enabling 3rd Party Software installs in security settings, then it will work. You can get Google's APK here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ge-services-6-5-1729047-android-apk-download/

Do you like using Gmail over the built in app? I was actually pleasantly surprised by it.
I do. Option wise its good, quick, simple layout.
