[Q] [ICS 4.0.3.] Problem with media - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the good Wanamlite 9.0 on my SGII. Many thanks to him. I think however the problem is for ICS in general, because is identical in my TF101 with Revolver ICS.
I used to have my music in separate folders, each for every album and all went well in Gingerbread. Now the system doesn't find any songs anymore... and so no player can find my music, except for Poweramp... the only way is to put files all together in the first level folder, say "Music" in \sdcard or in external_sd or, I think, where you want but only in the first level folder.
It's impossible for me to mix 1300 or so songs all together...
Can anyone suggest to me a neat solution?

ICS is not released all you have is a beta buggy leaked test ICS base .

Hi, i would first try using doubletwist to manage your data sync, then power amp for your actual player.
if it doesnt work, backup your phone and wipe it.
also make sure you upgrade to v9.1 released a few days ago
and if all else fails, flash to a 2.3 rom and then back to this ics see if it helps?
also using doubletwist you can just update your playlist on your computer and telll it to sync (mine only worked over wifi though on custom roms)

Media not detected using ICS beta

Lately since around a week ir two, I've been having problem of media ( music n images) not found in the gallery (semc n stock aosp) n music player (stock semc, google music, n uber Music). For images, using quickpic is ok. Es file explorer also can detect those media.
However, if lucky, sometimes later (maybe couple of hours later), the media will b detected.
Anyone facing this kind of issue? Ive tried all kernels, the clean ics beta rom, ka11(n some versions before it) n team xperia hybrid rom currently using.
Thanx in advance.

[Q] is bluetooth the same across all 4.0.3 roms ?

reason for the title is streaming to my car stereo, on my vodafone stock 4.0.3 rom it shows the 1st track played with the stock media player but will not update to the next track when it changes unless i cycle through the car stereos display option until i get back to artist/album/track
if i use PlayerPro Music Player it shows the 1st track and refuses to update unless i power down.
now, if i restore paranoid android and stream using PlayerPro Music Player it works fine!
wondering if i can flash anything over the stock ICS 4.0.3 (i like everything on it, it all works like it should and the BT streaming is the only bug i have with it ) such as modems or kernels as i have no clue what contains the bluetooth files that are causing the issue.
i really want to keep it as close to a stock samsung 4.0.3 as possible.
can anyone suggest a way to sort this ?
thanks.
Anyone?

all these modders and not one answer
Most likely a problem with Samsung software. Have you tried installing a newer Samsung build that may have fixed that problem? If you have the most recent version then I'm afraid your gonna have to stick to aosp if you want it to work

no i have not, that was my next plan though, the vodafone UK release was quite early on in 4.0.3
i take it i will need to use another carriers version as i think the stock release is also quite old
pissed off now, 4.0.4 leaked today, installed and still the same issue
i just cant get on with the ASOP versions so i guess i have to live with it.

I had a lot of problem with bluetooth, the only ROM works fine for me is the Cyanogenmod 7 (cm-7-20120701-NIGHTLY-galaxys2).
it seems any android 2.* roms worked fine, just a problem with 4.0.* samsung roms, would love to figure it out but i don't know what to do next.

music over BT has no name

BEfore i rooted and installed the nexus jb ported rom and the shostock rom i used to get the names of the songs on my pioneer cd player over bt now it just says unknown any1 know of a way to fix this or how to get it working?
I noticed this started after ICS. On stock and some custom GB ROMs that worked great. Additionally, there's no more ability to control repeat/shuffle from the head unit except with the stock music player.
BTW, this feature was also broken with the AT&T stock ICS, not just the custom ROMs. I think I had some luck with Serendipity, but I can't recall all of the features that was retained in Serendipity - still using the stock music player.

sony mw600 bluetooth

please advise thank you.

Well, this device is working pretty well, and no problem pairing it.
You need a long press on the MW600 until you have a signal the device is waiting after a device to pair with. On the Galaxy 7.7, press discover and when MW600 device if showing, just press on it, and you're set !
But displaying titles on the small display may depend on your firmware, and the way you play musics.
On my P6800 with a non-stable even official Samsung JB 4.1.2, no problem to play music whether using a filemanager : stock filemanager or ES File Explorer, but the title won't be displayed. Same as with playing musics through stock MP3 Player. Previous and forward commands won't either work from MW600... ^^ :crying:
Maybe with an older firmware 4.04 ou 3.x, this could be different.
On my G-Note 1 whatever firmware versions (including older such as GB 2.3.x) to JB 4.1.2, got the same issue using stock filemanager or ES file Explorer, but works perfectly fine with MP3 player : titles showing and previous and forward commands as well !!! :good:
I didn't try Music Hub or such as I'm not intended to buy Musics this way...

[Q] I9100 AOSP NeatROM 2.5 Music Player Issues

About 1 month ago I flashed Sale's NeatRom v5.42 and the Apollo Regular Kernel . It was a great rom, mostly because of its smothness and the battry drain (it drains less than the half of my stock ROM I9100LSD). One week ago I thought "Why don't try KitKat?". So I flashed the latest AOSP NeatROM and the correct Apollo Kernel. I also like this ROM, but I have some issues considering music playing with my smartphone. I've tried three apps (Google PlayMusic, RocketPlayer and finally now Apollo), but they don't solve it.
Music playing drains a lot more batttery than before.
When acitivating the screen while listening to music, sometimes the sound stutters.
Randomly the music player app seems to hang when a new song starts. Only after a reboot can listen again to music.
The first two points are only peanuts, but the last point is really annoiying.
I assume the only way is reflashing a stock based ROM, isn't it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, the music player getting stuck is a known issue with KK roms for now, but its a random one.
U can try moving all ur music files on to ur Internal Sdcard (11.5gb one) and then try and also check the above with the stock kernel
Well, i have no external SD card (11,5 GB internal should be enough for my mp3's).
I've switch to the latest stock based NeatRom and stay there until this issue is resovled, but I miss the dashclock and DSP-Manager. Will this issue will be ever resolved? I cant't believe that bugs bugs are neglected in the develepment thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50067179&postcount=2379 ), but I'm now allowed to post there because of I've just registerd because of this issue. It would be great, if someone can make a statement that there are bugs. Either they should be fixed or the user should be informed that there are known issues with KitKat ROMs (that maybe cant't be resolved considering to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612329). I would suggest that a moderator make a sticky. I don't want to attack the developers for their hard and volenteer work, but make suggestions.
OT question: Is my assume right that stock based ROMs are the most reliable beacause they are best optimized for the hardware?
So enough questions and reproaches. I'm proud that so many developers care about our almost three years old device.
