[Q] [Q-Flyer] Gaining S-off and root with specific flyer - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Im looking to gain Root on this device, If needed also S-off. But after nearly a month trawling these pages and actually using Google I can not find exact details on what i need to do with this device. When i seem to find a topic close to what Im looking for, difference in small details make me worry (especially HBoot). I have read every thread on the topic and i am look for someone to set straight what i can and cant do with this exact flyer. If i need to post any more information on the flyer please ask.

Did you check revolutionary? If you're hboot is not on their list, then you cannot obtain S-off. You're suck with the htcdev unlock method.

Yeah i checked Revolutionary , my hboot is not on there they have Flyer, 1.11.0003 as the closest but mine is 1.11.0011 . Also iv read up on the HTC Unlock method (mine is unlocked) but it is very confusing as most iv read expect you to have a knowledge of doing this before you do it.
Is any guides/link that is plain english no prior knowledge needed? the bit about fastboot usb gets me iv read on it an had a go but seems like there are so many ways im worried ill ruin my loverly tablet.

i have exact the same device/spec and exact the same question. what to do with it to get s-off...
i've searched xda-dev and also googled but didnt find something specific an this hboot version :-(
i would be highly interested in tethering 3g from my nokia n8 to the flyer (wifi only), but android does not support connection to ad-hoc (my n8 with joikuspot) and for changing it with wpa_adhoc-signed.zip i need root and s-off i understood...
if that works without s-off i ould be ok (untill i realy WANT to flash a ROM...)
so any help is apreciated...

Thanks, iv seen this thread before on my search and remember i could not get an exact RUU for my model. Maybe im being stupid but id rather be precise and do things properly. Anyone willing to tell me if this will work and/or what RUU id need ect?

Boot the phone to fastboot mode
Run the following command:

This will return the CID of your device. Find the appropriate RUU from this list:
The Xs that appear indicate that these numbers are not important for RUU selection, only the numbers which are not Xs are important.

I tried it and it had an error when doing the RUU and would not work. Then after turning it off and on it loaded up my as it was before but, the UI was not working so it was useless.
Luckily a factory reset (that seemed to take longer than usual) ,Reset it to a working normal HC state. im a little worried about trying this again as i dont want to brick my device.

Only do what you are comfortable with.
Potential things that could of caused the error
Did not change misc version as stated in downgrade thread
You are HTC dev unlocked and I belive you need to relock prior to attempting
Wrong ruu for your device
Best I know this is the route you would take but it is your device. Don't take any risk you are unsure of

Thank you very much, i am HTC unlocked i did not realise this was important.
I think ill leave it for now, i only really wanted root to enable GSM phone calls. I just wish there was a simpler way to get the Phone dialler working on the Flyer

Thank you for all your help, i relocked the bootloader and got it all done via the link you sent me. Does this now mean i have root or is there more i need to do?
