Best way to swap numbers? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I have an old sprint SERO phone, sprint has been horrible past year.
So i got at&t but i want to swap the number and put the sprint on seasonal suspense until they get thier act together.
Is it possible ?!

Yes it can be done... If your within the first 30 days their isn't a charge to do it.. I believe their is after that...
The number to call is 1-888-898-7685
You must call from a different phone other than at&t and sprint phone.. They would need your number and pin number on sprint account...
Just remember you will be charged any etf's that you might have...

But I don't want to cancel my sprint service...
How will my sprint line take over my att number ?

[Q] AT&T Service

Maybe I'm crazy...
I went to AT&T today to switch my number and service. My Vibrant is unlocked and everything went fine, they ported the number, started the service, etc and then suddenly they said "This is a 24 month contract" and, of course, I told them no and to switch it back to T-Mobile. They said it was not possible for me to use my phone and not sign a two year contract unless I went prepaid -- is this true?
I've taken phones to Verizon and T-Mobile sans contract and got service. I freaking hate telecoms - what's wrong with me paying someone and in exchange they give me service without me signing my life away or having to fill minutes up. On a side note I talked to ATT Online and they said I wouldn't have to sign a contract.
No, this is not true. Just go to the store, buy a sim card for like 25 bucks and then call customer service to activate.

Question about transferring my number?

I was wondering when I pick up my preorder evo 3d from best buy, can they switch my current number on my tmo hd2 which is still active, then and there? Cause I'm pretty sure if I call Tmobile the day I pick up my phone and cancel with them, that I will lose my number? Which I definitely don't want. Never switched carriers, been on tmo forever. Any insight would be appreciated;p
I don't know what happens if your still under contract, but I do know that Best Buy will cancel your T-Mobile for you and transfer the number (They did this for me when I was with T-Mobile going to ATT). Be sure to inquire about the $125 credit you should get from Sprint from transferring your number.
Sweet, I was hoping it would be easy. Also I'm not on contract. I bought my hd2 at full price, so I think that should make it even easier. Thanks for the insight
Have your T-Mobile account number with you. It makes the port-in a lot easier. When they go to activate the 3d they'll ask if you want to port an old number. They'll go through info and generally within 4 hours (usually in less than a hour) your T-Mobile will be canceled and the 3d will activate.
Cool, thanks for the info guys

Airwave upgrade

I thought you couldn't upgrade an Airwave but long story short I went to sprint to buy another phone and they wouldn't sell me one off contract due to store policy. But he said my Airwave had an upgrade and if I order the phone he would upgrade it without me changing phone numbers.

is it a corprate store because if so that doesnt sound right they get payed commision for selling contracts and he might have been trying to swindle you
You can't upgrade an airave line. Since they have to give you a phone number to give you the device, yes it does show up on your account as another line. However, any rep with 1/10th of a percent of a brain will realize that it's an airave line, and thus cannot be used to upgrade a phone.
If they do upgrade your airave line, sprint will find out about it, and charge you the full amount of the phone.
No it wasnt corporate store. I ordered the phone said it would be there in about 3 days. He said they don't do it often but sometimes there are exceptions.

This has been done many times before and there are threads about how to do it. Last I knew of, Sprint was buckling down and closing this loophole. But evidently it can still be done.
On a lot of accounts it shows a message that we can't upgrade airrave lines, but on others they haven't posted the note yet, my manager did one the other day
I just tried to do it at bestbuy.com and it will let me....but now idk, I'm having second thoughts since I'm not digging it that Sprint could catch on and bill me full retail when my regular line is eligible on June 1

I got an airrave couple months ago and notcied on my account that I could upgrade the line right away. This is on top of my current line with the evo3d having an upgrade credit right too. I tried to upgrade that Airrave line for a Nexus S but the store didn't have any in
Can someone who has done this confirm Sprint never charged full price later on? Additionally, it seems lime doing this makes you sign up for a data plan for that 'line'

I can confirm that as a customer there are no negative repercussions except the loss of any mail in rebates. They are systematically flagging accounts to warn reps not to do it, and threaten reps about doing it. But the risk is all on the reps side.
At what store would doing this upgrade be most successful at? Best buy or sprint store?

I've upgraded my airwave line (more than once). Any poster with 1/10th of a percent of a brain will realize that they don't know everything.
I went into best buy and they didn't seem to be able to....however, on their website you can... I just need to figure out how to not sign up for a data plan...

I know people who have had it done at Radio Shack. The reality is, you need a rep who knows what the Eff they are doing.

I've always just signed up for the data plan in store (Radio Shack) and then later taken it off when I did the ESN swap back to the Airwave.
What did you have to say to sprint to take the data plan off? I guess I'm basically looking for a step by step... Thanks bro

I didn't say anything. I just reactivated my Airwave ESN. I didn't even wait a few days. Activated the phone at Radio Shack. Called from a 3rd device and did the ESN swaps.

Upgrading my phone w/ moms upgrade?

Hey guys my mom is offering me a phone on her upgrade so basically that means that I'll be getting her phone #(if the following doesn't work out) so let's begin. Is it possible to get the Evo on HER line(#) then call sprint and ask them to put the Evo that was meant for her # to MY #? The reason is that I have tons of peoples numbers and I don't want to stir confusion with my contacts. Another question is that I have a Nexus S, so let's say I can't put the Evo on my # so I just get her #. Is it possible for me to downgrade from a Nexus S to a dumb phone so my mom has no trouble with battery life and touch screens? Thanks guys, they probably sound like stupid questions since sprint just wants your money but I'm just trying to make sure I can. Anyways thanks!
Sprint will happily flip flop numbers between lines. In fact that's what they call it "flip flop". All you have to do is ask them. They didn't even charge me. Took like 3 seconds.
So the Evo that will be upgraded with her line can easily be switched over to my line?
Also can she keep using the flip phone she had before upgrading? Customer service would probably be wondering why she upgraded but is till using her old phone lol
They don't care. You have to have a data plan to get the LTE but the flip phone will still work on it.
they can and will just switch the upgrades. so basically she has an upgrade right now. you take that one and then whenever the date is for your upgrade that will become her upgrade.

I did the same thing. Upgraded on my mother line. When i received the phone, i just activated on my phone #. My mother still using the phone she was using and that upgrade has no bearing on the plan or anything else.

Okay thank you guys! Awesome community we have here!
If all else fails, just activate it on her phone, then swap her phone back to her old phone immediately, then you will be free to use that one as it will clear the ESN.

That's what I was thinking of doing at first. Lol but if I can just "flip-flop" then it wont be necessary

So as long as I don't activate the phone on my moms line it won't be charged with the 10$ data fee?
I used my wifes upgrade, no problem. Her contract gets reset instantly and you can activate the phone on any number.
You can't flip phones numbers around without sprints assistance. Account has to be tagged LTE or not. I can no longer activate my old evo through the web site, when could before it was tagged LTE.
One catch if you activate the phone on a line that is not your moms you waive the 30 day return policy. That is, you instantly own it.
You also lose mail-in rebates if not activated on your moms line, but that's not an issue this time with the lte, since it has instant rebate.

I did this exact thing. They call it a "Cross Upgrade" and it is allowed. My Mom's plan was actually charged the $10 premium data fee but I called in and they removed it.

As logo mentioned above, you now have no way if returning if you aren't satisfied? That's what is worrying me. If I do the Cross Upgrade and I don't like the Evo then I'm stuck with it lol. Anybody know if I can activate it on my moms line first then deactivate and put it on my line an it'll keep the return policy?

[Q] Straight Talk on ATT Galaxy Note

Hello first timer here
I saw couple posts about Straight Talk on the ATT Note. I currently have the note in contract with ATT for about 3 months. Judging from the previous posts the i717 works completely fine with ST. What is the fastest way for me to get on ST? Will I have to pay the early termination fee in order to get onto ST? Is it worth paying the fee? Your input is greatly appreciated! thanks again
Yes. $175. Just order the sim now from ST and let the clock run down.
So, how can I request to keep my ATT number? I'm assuming that I have to request the change before I cancel my ATT contract? Correct me if I'm wrong, sorry for the questions!

What you're referring to is called a number port. To do this you'll need your at&t account information: account #, account password/pin, etc. When you get your ST sim simply go to straight talks website and follow the instructions to activate a phone with a number from another company.
Once all the info is entered, as long as everything is correct, it should take from 20 minutes to a couple hours. It took mine 30 when I did it.
Keep the at&t sim in your note until you can't make any calls. At that point the ST sim should be active. Put it in your phone, change the APN settings to what came with the ST package and you should be good to go.
There's no need to call at&t as porting your number automatically cancels your service with your previous provider. You'll just receive a final bill for what you used that month along with the early termination fee.

Last I remember, the ETF was $325 for a smartphone and went down $10/month. I could be wrong since I'm doing that off the top of my head. I also sell Verizon and sprint so I could be confusing that price with them as well.

That was the amount at&t threatened me with, but that was back in the last millenium. But for any amount its most practical to just wait.
