I have an international Note and would like the 4G & 4G-LTE icons from the SGH-I717 so my note can show the same 4G icon when connected to HSPA+ as the AT&T Note. As for the 4G-LTE icon, I have no interest in it since my Note isn't LTE compatible. However, a friend of mine asked me to get it for him, so I figured I'd ask for it while I'm already asking for the 4G HSPA+ icon.

It wont work.. Its not doable the other way around regular 3G/4G logos on the ATT one. It requires more than just replacing the images
I've already got my systemui.apk broken down so I can replace the icons. All I need are the 4G & 4G-LTE icons or the systemui.apk from an SGH-I717. We've already got theme builders and other members waiting for these icons in the N7000 forum. We've got this covered. We really just need the icons or the systemui.apk .... or both. I understand that the SGH-I717 has issues with replacing icon images, but the N7000 doesn't.

etc and compile

will do. It's going to looks awsome
Anyway to change it??? like instead of it having that werid AT&T 4G logo can someone make a CMW flash file that would change it? or files to change? Cause I flashed that one Rogers rom and it has a standered "4G" data symbol there and it looks WAY nicer than that 4G stock logo on AT&T rom.
you can do it by replacing the image files in the systemui.apk and the framework-res.apk
Yea, But im not to talented in doing that and afraid i`ll brick. Only messed with it once to change the color of the notification bar on the Nitro HD
BUMP. Can someone please make or change it for me? I know how put it in. I just not good at editing. Thanks!
I have LOOKED and looked in the frame work. and TWframework. AT&T`s "4G' logo is not in there. I found the G,E,H+, and 3G orginal pictures but no 4G logo pic so I cant replace it
Still wanting this? I know its something simple. But i can't get it figured out

I want too bro. I wonder if it helps that in the saurom there is a modded 4g status icon. I really don't want to leave my setup right now. It is epically perfect. Wonder if there is a way to take it from saurom and put it you know where. It looks like the stock one from my infuse.

No its not modded its a rogers based Rom. And that 4G icon is att based. Even though the 4G icons are located in that Rom for some reason. It will require some changing somewhere. On the stock Rom when i go to look the regular 3g and H icons are there. But when.o try to delete the 4g icons. No data icon at all shows up

Sorry i wasnt very specific. Attached is a screen shot of what i did in gb. I did this by using the universal theme flasher and swapping the pictures in the systemui in drawable xhdpi. I would like to do this in ics but the same images dont seem to be there in ics systemui.
Thanks

ICS has changed how it is handled. Now it is a color code and not an image. You can make it an image by redirecting the XML files to point to an image instead as I have done.

Did you use apktool to decompile?
Any guides on doing this?

yes but you will need 2 version of apktool to do it. One to decompile and another to compile ICS. Then in the layout folder of the system ui you will need to change the xmls for the status bar to android:drawable/status_bar which is in the framework-res apk. You will also need to change the XML in the system UI folder. There is no guide. I found it by trial and error to be honest. A lot of ICS uses color hex codes instead of images now but thankfully they left the unused images in the framework-res folder

Is it the xml files inside the res/layout that need to be edited?

Drawable folder
status_bar_bg.xml
Layout

Any idea which image i can swap to.change the background? Ive managed to get everything else transparent by replacing the images in drawable folders. Just missing the background now.

Check the layout folder in system UI for the status bar expanded. It will tell you what the background it. It might be a color hex code

Ok thanks ill look. I dont think itll be a hex code because its not just one colour. It has a pattern on it. Unless hex codes can do that If so please disregard my stupidness lol
Thanks.

They can do graidents now in ICS. If you have trouble upload your decompiled systemui apk and I'll have a look. ICS changed a whole lot

Ill upload systemui when im at a pc
What ive done so far is.
add android:background @drawable/pulldown to statusbartracking.xml
created pulldown.xml in drawable and added image pulldown to drawable-hdpi
I used the correct syntax in the actual files but still nothing.
Does that sound like something you did?

That is the E911 lock. It means your phone has a good location to give 911 should you dial it. It can not be gotten rid of as far as I know.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
It's the location icon, all the custom theme status bars get rid of it.
LOL I spent a good 15 minutes searching for the answer to this so I could finally have something to contribute (instead of just asking questions) and google finally supplied a link with the answer! It was this exact same thread... Jeez...
i dont think it has much to do with E911 - if you disable location services it will get rid of the ))) but the compass icon will still be there...
Just go into our apps and themes subforum guys... This has been covered. The mods are already there is you want to flash it, or there's tuts to remove it yourself

Yeah if you're familiar with theming, it's in one of the drawable files in systemUI, just extract, rename the 2 .png's to .bak, rezip, push back to system>app, check permissions, reboot and profit.

Black / Blue Stock Dialer and Stock Messaging wanted. For some reason Verizon/ATT and maybe more decided to make these so white! Other variants, like in Canada, of the S4 are like the S3 black / dark blue.
Agreed I miss the style on note 2 and s3 etc. This white dialer and messaging is annoying.

Maybe I'm missing something but clean rom appears to just be a stock rom with very mild to no tweaks, so why would we be wanting his to come for these mods?

I'm hoping its just something as simple as taking the apps from the other carrier s4's and just making a flashable zip. From there the makers of clean roms can also just substitute the other carrier dialer/messaging app instead of having to actually theme them.
