The phone you have has a different connector to the iPhone/Apple connectors. You could use the plug portion from this and then add a seperate USB cable to the end... that should work, presuming you do not want to charge from USB...

It doesn't have to be Apple, really. Any charger with a usb input will do.
But basically that's a yes, Apple chargers are perfectly fine to use with your android.

I'm not sure about the output power of a Android Charger but Apple charger (iphone version) output are approximately 650-800mA. So long your phone doesn't requires juice higher than 800mA you are safe. Just use the charger with your Mini USB cable to charge it will do if u want to charge it thru your Computer USB port and really really wants it to charge at a faster rate download and install a tweak app called "Asus AI Charger". its the best for those who are charging their iPad through USB port as the Default USB power output isn't enough for iPad due to iPad requires at least a 1amp juice

Usb charging

Is it possible now that we have root or no chance? I remember it came to psp after it was rooted. Can someone knowledgeable investigate please. Many thanks in advance
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using Tapatalk
No unfortunately that's something that's set up in the hardware.
That is right ... first of all we need more than 5Volt to charge the battery and second the battery charging need more than 500mA ... but both are the maximum of USB specification. Therefore is not possible to enable charging via USB port.
And how is this development?
On that note, thread closed.

Keyboard & charger

If you are traveling and need to use GPS, but maps are loaded on a external card and you have your viewpad charging on lighter outlet.
or (my case) you have some serious amount of text to write and you need the keyboard connected as well as your wall mount charger....
Is there any known way to connect the battery charger and a peripheral as keyboard or usb mass storage device at the same time?
I'm thinking about some surgery to the usb-to-miniusb converter that I use to connect my desktop type keyboard to the viewpad, but don't know what could happen to the usb device or the keyboard. Neither know which of the 5 pins (contacts) of the charger is the active one...
Any suggestions?
Tnx in advance.
anothe question....
Ok... since there is no answer over 24hrs, I'll make another question to make this a little more interesting for you people could help me...
Is there any chance to connect a keyboard (already working) plus a SD card at the same time??
I'm making some fun stuff with a keyboard and making some surgery I could install some kind of "external USB Port" on the keyboard.... but, should it work?? I mean, keyboard and flash memory together, connected to one-single miniUSB port....
Developers.... any suggestion??
Thnx again...
Forgett to say.... on Viewpad7 with FROYO 2.2.1
Another idea
Ok, easy people... That bunch of comments about my topic make s me feel kind dizzy...
Just kidding....
Making some research (on goggle, haha!!), I've found that USB port on a pc have a 5volt-500mA output... So, if that's nominal out and that power could charge the viewpad AND don't turn on smoke any peripheral, Then I just have to connect power out on a wall-mount charger to the 1st pin (wire) of a 5 contact miniUSB, regarding on the power out put on 500mA.
(thanks isIran for your assistance )
now... PLEASE SOMEONE STOP ME IF I'M HAVING SOME IDIOTIC, TABLET BRICKING, IDEA!!!!
Thnx again
Hi,
The Viewpad wall charger have a non standard conector, if you look in the contact part you will see double connection.
In the main charger body you will find the pinout:
Pin 1 & 6 +, pin 5 & 10 -
These pins (6&10) are longer than the data pins to ensure that the power connections mate first and un-mate last.
The wall charger is 2 A and the USB PC port only 0.5A (0.9A for USB3)
For this reason a wall charger change in 2 hours and a PC USB in 15 hours.
A dedicated USB charger should short the 2 data lines together. The device will then not attempt to transmit or receive data, but can draw up to 1.8A
for this reason the device know when it's connected to a computer or to a dedicated charger (like a Garmin GPS)
Probably modifiying a connector (or keyboard) to provide energy and data will work.
Did you try a USB hub?
Less us know the result of your experience.
cheers
You could solve the keyboard problem by using a bluetooth keyboard and you can charge the tab on the USB port at the same time.

Right, this solve one problem, but is much expensive and less fun... Besides, didn't solve the flash drive plus charger issue...
About pins 6 &10... Just noticed that (in over a year never look that closer the charger pin).
I'll try usb hub, but I'm afraid to burn some flash drive or worst...
Thanx for your interest and helpful advice...

Why do I need charger power for Samsung MHL Adaptor?

I was under the impression that Note 3 supported MHL 2.0 but when I plug in the official HDTV adapter from Samsung (model number ET-H10FAUWEGWW) I still need to also use a USB charger to get it to show through the HDMI input on my TV?
If I don't I get a continual on-screen message on the phone "HDMI cable connected/disconnected" flashing/cycling until I plug-in the Micro USB charger cable on the side of the HDTV adapter.
Any thoughts appreciated
Your TV would have to have the MHL adapter which would mean you would have had to buy it most likely this year. If you are just plugging it into a regular HDMI slot there is not power available this is why you need to hook up the adapter.

I believe you may have ended up getting a copycat adapter (A 1.0 instead of a 2.0), not official. I recently purchased a MHL 2.0 off amazon for $10 and it works just plugging in the tv hdmi without power. The one I got isn't a samsung one, but it is compatible with samsungs (11-pin I believe). The tv I'm plugging into is an OLD tv (got it when hdmi was just coming out) and it works without using an external source- also working fine on my newer tvs. I believe the power for MHL 2.0 is suppose to come from your phone so the tv shouldn't be the problem.

You definitely do not need an MHL input when using this adapter. The whole point of the adapter is to go from MHL (the Note 3 output) to HDMI (the TV input). If you have an MHL input on your TV or receiver all you need is a cable (basically what's in the white box is built into your TV already).
I second the opinion that you got a knock-off. I have both adapters from Samsung and neither of them need external power to operate with a Note 3.
The only restriction with the MHL 2.0 adapter is that it requires that you plug it into a TV and not a receiver, and it will tell you in no uncertain terms if you don't plug it in correctly.
The only reason to plug in power is that it stops your battery draining so fast, the charger provides about 700mA charging current to the N3.

Could you post a link to the seller you got yours from, or PM me with the info if XDA doesn't allow that? I'd like to get one myself, and like that you have already tried and had good results with yours.

Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/VicTsing-Micr...e=UTF8&qid=1384305065&sr=8-4&keywords=mhl+2.0
Fair warning though; this adapter is not perfect by any means, you can read my review on amazon (the one that tested it out on the note 3). As noted in my review, I am still waiting on a replacement one (since the original one I got functioned but didn't charge when I hooked up my power adapter), and I'll let you guys know if it's better once I receive it. Even though it doesn't function perfectly, for $10 dollars it does the trick.
Edit: They are sending me an extra without having to return the original, so even if the second one doesn't charge, at $5 a pop I'm happy.

Thanks for alerting me to the counterfeit reasoning that shows this part must be a copycat, I contacted the supplier of this part to us for a partial refund as I will use this as a backup and try and buy an original and prices drop from the £39 or take advice of the other replies in this thread and find a genuine 2.0 MHL non-Samsung version. I'll report back if I have any trouble with the supplier claiming that it is a genuine part and see how far eBay support me.

Thanks babyshanks and CraigAmey for clarifying and also confirming that I don't need it new TV to take advantage of MHL 2.0's not requirement for external USB power. As I said in my previous reply and with this information and going back to the supplier on eBay to us for a partial refund as I will keep this version of the adapter until prices come down from the genuine parts for fine art genuine MHL 2.0 adapter non-Samsung version.

I've read that you need to plug into a TV but haven't had problems. But I am using a samsung mhl 1.0 with 11pin adapter. Didn't need power also. Waiting for Samsung to get on the ball so I can buy a genuine mhl 2 from them.
sent from my sm-9005.
I bought the Samsung one before it went out of stock and it works in any HDMI input also without the need to plug it to the power outlet, but I'm sure a full HD movie will drain the battery fast..

I think for the price of the official one your better off just getting a wireless dongle, unless you plan to game with it.
Hi guys, here's the response from the eBay seller, "These items were purchased From Kondor Ltd who are one of the major UK Distributors of Samsung Accessories. I would be extremely surprised if they sold fake stock and risked losing there multi-million contract with Samsung over some cheap fake stock. I can only assume the item received has a manufacturing fault of some sort as this is the first problem we have encountered for this product sorry.", so as you can imagine I'm beginning to think there my be a fault with my phone if this message is to be believed, what do you guys think?

The MHL 1.0 adapter doesn't care what it's plugged into, only the MHL 2.0 adapter has that issue.
I just bought a mhl cable through amazon. It has the USB connector for the phone on one side, and a HDMI connector on the other. Directly attached to the HDMI connector is a regular USB plug which I plugged into my power source for my phone (as this is how I understood it should work).
I don't get any messages on my phone that indicate that it is connected to my TV/Monitor and my phone also doesn't indicate that it's charging.
What I read from the product description was, that connecting this cable to my power source would also charge the phone. So could it be my phone is charging, even if the battery indicator doesn't say so? Like it would be charging just so much as that my phone doesn't drain? Or should it clearly indicate that the battery gets charged. Befor knowing this, I'm hestitant to send the cable back as defective.
Can any one advise?
Thanks

I'll be sending the cable back. I wouldn't bother too much if it wouldn't supply the full resolution and such, but I'd at least would expect some output on my TV.

You're welcome.
I love using MHL, but I really wish there weren't several varieties of MHL cables (5-pin, 11-pin, 1.0 and 2.0) and also such a large number of fakes and very low quality ones out there. Makes buying difficult, as all these threads about MHL demonstrate.
Does anyone know if you can physical see whether you have a 5 pin or 11 pin MHL 2.0?

Charger Cradle with USB 3.0 Input

I recently bought this generic charger with a USB 3.0 output connection for docking my Note 3 to keep it charged as much as possible while listening to music at work. (Listening to music alone doesn't cause much drain to the battery, but I get anxious when my battery falls below a certain percentage...I have problems, I know )
http://www.wowparts.com/charger-station-cradle-for-samsung-galaxy-note-3-n9000-n9002-n9005/
This cradle serves that purpose...mostly. I noticed it prior to buying but figured I'd give it a chance because of its low price, but the rear port does not utilize USB 3.0 but instead uses USB 2.0. I thought this might lead to a slower charging rate and it turns out I was right. Mind you, I experienced the show charge rate with it connected directly to a wall outlet, not a PC or another device.
I've searched for other cradles that also have a USB 3.0 output connection for the phone, but the ones I've found only have USB 2.0 input connections in the rear.
If I'm not mistaken, the Note 3 is the first mobile device to utilize USB 3.0 so I know that it's probably unlikely at this point, but has anyone else come across any cradles that utilize USB 3.0 for both the input and output connections?
Update: Never mind! Another user posted this in another thread http://www.shopandroid.com/samsung-desktop-dock/5AA15818.htm . It's strange, though, how it's Samsung-branded but it's not even listed on the Samsung site as one of the device accessories (at least not for the T-Mo version).

Magnetic usb cable

Hey guys!
I was thinking about geting a magnetic cable for my OP5, they seem greate for beeyng very practical to use and in theory helping to expand the device's usb port life.
So with that in mind, does anyone have any ideia if...
1- Is there a 4A magnetic usb C cable compatible with dash/vooc?
and
2 - is there any chance that using a magnetic cable would cause damage to the phone?
Nope no dash charge just slow/about 1A. Don't think slow charging would kill your phone. I use em all the time and have had no problems this far.
Same here, I have a micro-usb magnetic connector for my smartach and another magnetic type-c for a tablet and both can't deliver more than 1A , but they are indeed very handy !
Hey guys just found a 4.3A cable, the problem is that its made for notebooks which means the connector is L shaped.
here is where to buy: https://www.banggood.com/Baseus-Magnetic-90-Degree-4_3A-Type-C-to-Type-C-Fast-Charge-Data-Cable-1_5M-for-S8-Xiaomi-6-Macbook-p-1179421.html

Hmm i says that it can support S8 too.
Only problem i see is that the USB C charge part needs to stay in the phone, and the other part is magnetic.
Not really convenient i think..

It won't work with Dash Charge anyway.. You need their cable with their charger otherwise it won't work,I haven't seen any 3rd party accessories that supports Dash Charge

That's kind of the whole idea that makes it convenient, not having to plug the cable. But yeah you do have to always use a case to cover it.

Ok the Charger i get but the cable, are you sure?
Is there something else about the OP stock cable besisdes the amount of juice that it can put thru? (considering that that ports a usb-c on one end and usb on the other)
I always thought that there wasn't any other cable compatible because before apple put a usb-c charging/data port on macbook there was no market for a 4A cable apart from Oppo and Oneplus.

Yes I'm sure, there is a ton of sites that explains Dash Charge. I Think they put some microchip inside so OP phones can check the compatibility and allow the 4A charge
Edit: There is some article that states that you need their cable

Quoting the part of the article that talks about the cable "they won’t be compatible with the high current that’s supplied to the device".
So if the current is the only reason... than i believe it could be compatible sense it hits the 4A spot.
Compatible or not the seller/manufaturer will only ship the cable once it hits 200 pcs sold mark, which is pretty far from the current 42 pre-orders. That's too bad i was actualy willing to buy and test it if it wasn't for this.
Any news regarding this?
