Is it possible now that we have root or no chance? I remember it came to psp after it was rooted. Can someone knowledgeable investigate please. Many thanks in advance

No unfortunately that's something that's set up in the hardware.
That is right ... first of all we need more than 5Volt to charge the battery and second the battery charging need more than 500mA ... but both are the maximum of USB specification. Therefore is not possible to enable charging via USB port.
And how is this development?
On that note, thread closed.

The phone you have has a different connector to the iPhone/Apple connectors. You could use the plug portion from this and then add a seperate USB cable to the end... that should work, presuming you do not want to charge from USB...
It doesn't have to be Apple, really. Any charger with a usb input will do.
But basically that's a yes, Apple chargers are perfectly fine to use with your android.
I'm not sure about the output power of a Android Charger but Apple charger (iphone version) output are approximately 650-800mA. So long your phone doesn't requires juice higher than 800mA you are safe. Just use the charger with your Mini USB cable to charge it will do if u want to charge it thru your Computer USB port and really really wants it to charge at a faster rate download and install a tweak app called "Asus AI Charger". its the best for those who are charging their iPad through USB port as the Default USB power output isn't enough for iPad due to iPad requires at least a 1amp juice

Hi. i just want to share my work with you my firends. I made dock station and i was able to get OTG MODE AND CHARGING AT THE SAME TIME for SONY XPERIA S LT26i , but XDA USER GregórioAxiaMagno get it tested and working on XPERIA MINI st15i. Thats mean you can do your own almost for nothing, few cables + 100k resistor thats it.
Enjoy!

Yeah!
As said by our fella, sonic_boom :highfive:, we can easily mod a OTG cable, or even mod any normal cable/adapter, to allow OTG and battery charge, at the same time, in our little lovely paunchy phones :victory:.
On the sonic_boom's site you can find clear and simply diagrams to the goal.
Also you can find my test at youtube channel - and other things more
So if you think that the LiveDock, even with a nice design, can be just an expensive plate, you have now one more argument haha.
The resistor is easy to find... in fact, all the materials are cheap and easy to find. In my case for example, I'm a geek so I have a lot of old oficial cables and some equipments, the only thing off my collection is the resistor.
My video here.
The only thing what can damage your phone is if you use power more than 5v 1000mA (genius), or maybe connect the wrong pins (genius x 2, because everything is well explained), I mean, if (isTrollTin || isMorePowerThanTheCorrect) { yourPhone = ; }.
It is worth is very simple!
EDIT: BTW if you have ICS at your mini and maybe OTG isn't working, is just install the BusyBox by Stephen (Stericson) and done! To mount one or more data travelers I used [root] StickMount by Chainfire

Why? Connect your charger then check command DMESG. Connect USB charging from computer then check same command. Then connect 5V 3amps charger and do the same thing. Android will decide how much power can take while charging. Phone is charging slower when you use computer I AM not sure but I think max is 500mA from AC charger you can get 1500 mA but iam not 100% sure

Problem. USB host mode RESET on "fully charged"
Hello guys!
I have such a OTG+Charging solution for me and it works like a charm (on cm10, sony ericsson mini pro sk17i - see freexperia). Thanks to sonic boom for the comprehensive howto!
The OTG-USB is connected to a USB hub (that powers my devices and charges the phone!) and a usb-ethernet connected to it for network access.
It works perfectly, but...
...when the phone is "fully charged", it does something to its usb connection (reinitalizing it, I guess) and the ethernet is lost. That would not be much of a problem, but the phone resets the usb connection roughly every 2 to 3 minutes once it's fully charged.
As long as it's charging: No problem whatsoever.
Do you know that problem and what can I do?
So far I have found the kernel-switches in the filessystem (proc or sys, dont remember) to influence host-mode and charging beahviour and have starting playing around with them, but to no avail: Either no network or no charging.
And, as soon as the phone goes to stand-by, the charging is resumed and the usb-host connection subsequently dropped.
I am very grateful for any suggestions as this problem prevents me from having a nice little server running on my phone with performance better than a raspberry pi! (Wifi is hardly an option: I have around 14 Wifi Networks in my surrounding that kill any decent latency).
Thank you for your help in advance!
Can someone explain to me, why I use a long USB cable can not charge the phone while I was busy ben.Bij ics was not because he did just load.
i don't understand your question.. can you perhaps elaborate more on your situation that way we can also give you a more detailed solution?
EDIT:
If you mean: your cable is not working because it's not genuine, then i highly suggest you use the original Samsung cable.. as not to put your device at risk
I hope this helps

use only genuine cable bro
Use any non-cheapskate cable and it will work well.
All microUsb cables are genuine (since it's an open standard) but must ones are of doubtable quality and not capable of powering more than maybe 0.2Amp (the phone uses 1 Amp on wall charger)

I recently bought this generic charger with a USB 3.0 output connection for docking my Note 3 to keep it charged as much as possible while listening to music at work. (Listening to music alone doesn't cause much drain to the battery, but I get anxious when my battery falls below a certain percentage...I have problems, I know )
http://www.wowparts.com/charger-station-cradle-for-samsung-galaxy-note-3-n9000-n9002-n9005/
This cradle serves that purpose...mostly. I noticed it prior to buying but figured I'd give it a chance because of its low price, but the rear port does not utilize USB 3.0 but instead uses USB 2.0. I thought this might lead to a slower charging rate and it turns out I was right. Mind you, I experienced the show charge rate with it connected directly to a wall outlet, not a PC or another device.
I've searched for other cradles that also have a USB 3.0 output connection for the phone, but the ones I've found only have USB 2.0 input connections in the rear.
If I'm not mistaken, the Note 3 is the first mobile device to utilize USB 3.0 so I know that it's probably unlikely at this point, but has anyone else come across any cradles that utilize USB 3.0 for both the input and output connections?
Update: Never mind! Another user posted this in another thread http://www.shopandroid.com/samsung-desktop-dock/5AA15818.htm . It's strange, though, how it's Samsung-branded but it's not even listed on the Samsung site as one of the device accessories (at least not for the T-Mo version).

Apologies in advance if this has already been asked and answered.
I'm interested in using my USB-powered DAC to send an optical audio signal into my digital signal processor in my Jeep. The obvious problem I face in doing this is HEAVY battery drain.
I used to run a 2nd generation Nexus 7 tablet as my head unit in a previous vehicle, which could power by USB DAC while charging with the use of a Y-cable. This doesn't seem to be the case with my S9+.
Do any of you know of a way that I can achieve this with the S9+?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Just thought of something...
I'm guessing I could use the DeX dock to charge while using the DeX's USB port to power the DAC. That SHOULD work. Alternatively, perhaps I could wirelessly charge the S9+ while powering the DAC via OTG. Either application (if they work) would only prolong battery life, as I imagine the drain would be greater than the charge.
Anyway, still wondering if there's a way to get an old-fashioned charge while using OTG with a Y-cable or similar (powered USB hub?).
Bump. Curious if anyone has had any luck with this. Thanks in advance!

i dont think youre going to have much, if any, luck on this man. USB type C is kinda weird like that. There isnt even a jig for type c like there was with micro. Im following this one too.
There are aftermarket devices available that provide you the capability of using a USB along with a charging port and a HDMI output. I have tried it myself using a mouse and charger while connected together with the phone..... You could give it a try. That should work and is inexpensive too. I bought one and still use it sometimes for my Dex needs.
