Loading CM9 A2 - forgot to install CWM can I use ACMEInstaller2? - TouchPad General

I'm making the switch from CM7.1 to CM9.0 Alpha 2. I've loaded the Rom but forgot to install CWM and WebOS Dr. Can I just add these two zip files to my cminstall folder on the TP and use ACMEInstaller2 to install them?
Or, is it better to run the ACMEUninstaller and then start over with all files?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick

You should be able to install with acmeinstaller

[TUT]Tutorial for making Custom Rom

Today I went to computer center and tested.
Finally,I got a full working custom rom.
Note:Now,I don't have computer at home.
My dad shifted the computer to his room(another house) due to my final year exam.
Now explaining all these steps with my remembered things at center.
Sorry,I'm not responsible if anything goes wrong.
Synopsis:
1.Making a Kitchen
2.Create a Stock Base Rom
3.Making Custom Rom
4.Finished
1.Making a Kitchen:
Code:
You must install a Kitchen properly.
To do,
Download a dsixda kitchen from Chef Central Forum.
Install it properly according to that post.
Short synopsis for windows:
1.Download all necessary things.
2.Install Java.
3.Then install cygwin.
4.Copy the kitchen to home folder.
Now your kitchen ready.
Test the kitchen by running it.
Type ''./menu'' in cygwin
It will show Main Menu.
Don't go to next step until you prepare Kitchen.
2.Create a Stock Base Rom:
Code:
From this stock base rom we can made a custom rom.
First reinstall a Android 2.1.
Then root it.
Install a XRecovery.
Then backup it.
Now you will get system.img in backup folder.
Then copy the system.img to your kitchen folder "original_update"
In new version of kitchen you don't have to create fake file.Skip next step.It will automatically created.
Make a fake file called "boot.img"(empty file).
Now Run a kitchen by typing in the cygwin
./menu
You will get a main menu.(if you installed properly)
Choose option 1 and press enter.
Again press Enter.(now your system.img will extract)
It will take above 5min to extract.
At last you will get a question asking ''you want see the rom details'' for that press n(No). Bcoz we don't have boot.img.
Then it return to main menu.
Now minimise the cygwin.
Then you will get working folder in your kitchen.
Stock base rom created successfully.
Backup this base rom.
It will useful for future Re-use.
3.Making custom rom
From Stock base rom modifiy what you want in your system folder like removing unwanted apps, add new theme, root option,etc...
4.Making update.zip
Maximise the cygwin and choose option 99.
Your rom will be created and signed in output_zip folder.
Installing Rom using Xrecovery.
1.Copy the zip to sdcard(rename it to update.zip)
2.Go to Xrecovery.
3.Factory reset(Full Wipe)
4.Then install update.zip
Hope this you can understand and work.
All the best.

ill wait for your working rom.. suddenly i got excited
I wonder what is the difference betwen this custom rom and those you get backing up your rom?? I understood that you need a rom to modify apps in /system...
Please explain the differnce.
We can't take system directly from the device.
So from backuping we can get system.
Then modify what you want in the system like removing unwanted apps, adding new theme,etc....

typo error on the first part making the kitchen in checking the menu of kitchen instead of "/.menu" type or use "./menu"..

can i skip this step here? can i use my old rom just want to add/edit something..??
First time we want system.
Then we can use the previous one.
Now you can skip those steps.

Ok, i've got to step with removing apps... Problem is, that i have App2SD and those apps which are stored at card are not there (in working folder). Therefore it seems that if i will give that update.zip to someone, he will be missing some apps won't he? Or are they somewhere and i am just blind?
question on system.img
could i use a system.img file converted from system.sin decrypted from update files for this tutorial?

Since those affected by this problem will not be able to flash this cwm zip, note that you can extract the update.zip out of the /sdcard/ directory in the cwm zip. Replacing that may work out...

i just started from DL09 and worked it back up to blackhole 4.1

Take the fixed CWM update.zip from the above post. Drop a copy on your sd card. Copy it into the clockworkmod folder and rename the copy recovery-update.zip. Will work on both ends then.

I've replaced update.zip with working version, flashed JT's modified version, copied and renamed to CWM folder.
It now goes directly to modified Red recovery.
Thank you for the useful info.

Need more info... Did you get the .zip files?
Did you put them on your SD card?
Did you unzip them first?
I have the 3 files in zip and unzipped on the root of my SD but I haven't even got to that part yet I can't get the cf3d driver to install it says can't write to /system

It's been a while since I used an sd install, but I remember having to remount the sd as writable for some stuff. There are some apps to do this, including Remount RW (i think it's called) and File Explorer/Root Explorer.
Have u seen any tutorial on it or is it pretty easy to do I have file explorer and can get root explorer/ or remount

You should have 3 zip files, if you unzipped those, it won't work.
Are you running Android off the SD card?
In that case, transfer the files over usb. If you are running android off the uSD, android labels one partition of your uSD as "sd card" and CF3D may only be looking in that partition. Transferring the files over usb will put them in the appropriate partition.
OK I got root explore and was able to install the cf3d driver so I will erase the three already unzipped and use the zipped ones thanks for ur help

I have the same problem with my Incredible S. I cannot install drivers (NOT plugins). After the installation Chainfire asks to install drivers. I tried both CWM 3+ and simple options - but it doesn't work. The smartphone's stuck and after manual reboot Chainfire asks to install drivers again.
Could you please explain how you managed to install drivers with root explorer?
Open root explorer then click on /system then mount r/w after that try to install the driver again

For some that are having issues with write permissions for chainfire. Try updating Busybox and see if that helps. It worked for me when I was having the same issues from

[Q][View] CWM 5.8.1.5

Are there any known issues with using the latest CWM recovey for the Evo View running Honeycomb? I have just downloaded cwm 5.8.1.5 and was going to flash it but I wanted to make sure there aren't any known issues first.
Is anybody else using cwm 5.8.1.5? If so, what improvements did it bring from the default 4.x version?
it recognize both internal and external memory so you can flash roms or files from the internal memory if you don't have an sd card ..
it's best to post any questions on the original thread to get better respond
Thanks for the info. To install it did you just take the recovery-clockwork-5.8.1.5-express.img file you downloaded and rename it to PG41IMG.zip and then let the fastboot detect it to install it? Or is there a zip version that is flashable from the older cwm recovery?
NP.. I used ROM Manager to flash it
It also can be flashed using fastboot command

Help! Clockworkmod refuse to install and sm9 won't boot

I was following the cm wiki tutorial
I put the moboot, cwm, Cm9 3/10 build and gapp into the cminstall and i did the ACMEinstall. moboot come up, good, however, CWM is not showing up in the boot manual and when I try to load cm9, it try to load and then it reboot and put me back at moboot manual. Luckily, web os still work. However, I am not sure as to what to do to get Clockworkmod and cm9 to install correctly. Please advice.
Did you use AcmeInstaller, or AcmeInstaller2? You are supposed to use Acmeinstaller2 for CM9.
At this point, use Acmeuninstaller to wipe the android partition off, and try again from scratch.
Believe it or not I can't find a download link for Acmeuninstaller. Can someoen pm me the link? Now i figure out why cm 9 won;t work but what about clockworkmod? How come it won't install.
After i run the uninstall do I need to install moboot again?
google "acmeinstaller2". it should be the first hit. I'd post a link, but I just registered.

heres everything in one shot for you. if you cant get the recovery to install you can extract the files from cwm.zip folder and put the uimage.clockworkmod into the /boot folder then run try rebooting if still nothing try running the update script manually as root in terminal emulator from android. hope this helps.
I manage tio fix the cmw issue by using novacom the image of the cmw and force cmw install from sd.
