[Q] Can't take a screenshot anymore? [CM9] - TouchPad General

So, I just tried taking a screenshot on the Touchpad and it seems it doesn't work anymore. I was able to do it a week ago or so ago. Could it be that an app is interfering or something? Please help.

Works for me in cm9 alpha 2, hold power button and tap "screenshot"

Had the same prob when I installed chain fire 3d (graphics driver). Couldn't get that shutdown menu where the screenshot option is to come up. Meant I couldn't reboot or shutdown from that menu either

Well, I just noticed the power button doesn't work anymore except for placing it to sleep... I haven't installed chainfire of anything...

Bump, still can't solve it. (I don't wanna reinstall)

Install the latest nightly, and install the newest ics gapps from goo-inside.me/gapps and see if that fixes it.
I am Z.

What. the. hell.
It still wasn't working and I connect it to the PC to transfer the necessary .zip files and after I unplugged, boom, it works. :/ I was going to do a force restart so I can get into the boot menu but it opened up the power one and I was just able to do a screenshot. I'm going to install the nightly anyway now, thanks!

Once you get everything working how you want it, it's generally a good idea to make a backup.
That way if you screw anything up, fixing it is as easy as booting into recovery and waiting 10 to 15 minutes.

[Q] flashed hulu now in boot loop

the title says it all running simply honey 3.6 flashed hulu file installed hulu apk. rebooted into boot loop between vibrant and bullet screens..no worries at this point. the catch is i can not get into download mode. the usb 3 button install battery method doesnt work.....any ideas guys?
this is what happens when you DONT read the rom op.....sorry guys. problem found and resolved
I think I just ran into a similar situation, I found out on google somewhere to pull the battery, hold down volume buttons and power button, wait till vibrant logo blinks once, then I let go of the power button then hit the home button.
This worked and get me into my clockwork recovery mode.
Before this my phone just hung on the vibrant logo and never changed. Was able to restore one of my os's and all is well now.
Not sure this will work for you but I didn't know what to do and the technique above worked someone
whoops, realized you solved your problem LOL!
how did you get hulu on your phone?
its called google search..........or search within xda. sorry woke up on wrong side of bed

Boot from Webos to CM ?

I might not have got enough sleep last night, so please excuse me if I missed this out right in the how to.. but I was up to 5 am last night putting Preware on my HP Touchpad and CM 2.1. The installing of Apps and playing in both ensued into the wee hours..
In my excitment I woke the wife.. and not thinking straight I thought I could get to the CWM via the same method as I used to building it. I pressed Vol Up and Power and it went back to USB bootie mode, and I couldnt get it out of that mode.. eventually I just reran the Acme installer. thewife went back to bed unimpressed.
So here is my question, I know how to boot from CM how via reboot into recovery mode, and then I can choose to boot to WebOS or CM. But from WebOS, how do I boot into Android? Or how do boot back into the Clock work menu so I can choose again ?
Thanks,
SorrowsTyr
.
There is an application in Preware called Cyboot that allows for what you want.
Or
You can install the patch that adds new buttons to the drop down power menu
Or
You can go to "Device Info" > "Reset Options" > Reboot
Yes! That us exactly what I want. Installed cyboot and Adv. Reset Options.
Thanjs!

sorry for hijacking the thread,
but if i am stuck on the white usb screen, how do i get out of it?
Like for my phone, if i am in download mode i just take out the battery and restart my phone...but i dont we can remove battery in the Touchpad....
If you followed the instructions in the Dev section you should have installed Moboot, which give you the option to choose your OS when booting/rebooting.

Hold down the power button (takes 10 seconds or so), then when the reboot process is called hold down the volume button closest to the power button. Hold both of these until you get to the download/recovery menu and then you should know what to do from there.

Ok. I used odin to flash a stock version. now theres no boot loop, and i can use CWM. when I try to reboot, Nothing really happens. Does it just take a long time to reboot or...?
btw thanks for all the help
It can take a while for the first boot because the system has to re-build the cache. It won't take longer than 15 minutes though.
Thanks for all the help guys, I fixed it I ended up reverting it back to out-of-the box state w/ SU. altho I am having 1 small problem. its been like a half hour so far and it has not prompted me with the system update from 3.1 to 3.2. What can I do?

Manually check for it or just use Odin to flash the newest file...from http://www.sammobile.com if the manual check didn't work.

Can't get into download mode, help please!

Hello everyone!
I just bought a second hand SII (i9100) and I wanted to install CM on it (it is on stock 4.1 right now). The phone is in great shape, everything works perfectly, it's smooth, doesn't have even 1 scratch on it. I've tried the CM installer, but I'm getting the "we couldn't talk to your phone" error. In order to fix it or install CM manually, I have to enter download mode. This is the problem: I can't get into download mode through the button combination and the adb method doesn't work either. It reboots the phone, but it boots normally into the OS afterwards. Recovery mode works, but download doesn't.
Any advice?

Are you using the right combo keys?(Vol down, home, power) Are your volume keys working properly? That is strange if you can't get into download mode. When you hold the three buttons from power off, make sure you release the keys as soon as the samsung logo appears.
Alternatively you can install CM from recovery and enable advanced reboot options from there to make life a little easier.
I'll give you some steps to try if you are still stuck.

Thank you for the reply! Yes, I am sure I'm using the right key combo, tried it countless times. And yes, my volume keys work properly. I needed to enter download mode to try the fix for the "we couldn't talk to your device" error that the CM installer gives. Fortunately, it worked when I tried on another PC and I have CM 11 succesfully installed on the device now. I still want to give CM 12.1 a try tho, so I need to install CWM and I need download mode for that... I guess there's no way I can update to a CM 12.1 nightly OTA, right?

You don't really need download mode to install CM12.1, although you do need it if you run into any problems requiring for example to go back to stock rom or if you can't get into recovery. Try powering off and using the key combo for download mode now you have CM11.
But to install CM12.1, you just need to download the .zip(and gapps if you want), boot into recovery mode(CM11 installed a new recovery, either CWM or TWRP), then do your backups and full wipe from recovery and install the .zip(s) from there. You don't necessarily need the CM installer to do this, or to go back to CM11 if you want/need later either

Download mode still doesn't work unfortunately, it's really weird considering recovery mode works just fine. And yea, it installed CWM 6.0.5.0 I think, I didn't realise it also installed a new recovery automatically, my bad there. Thank you for trying to help me anyways, I'll give CM12.1 a try tomorrow and give the guys some feedback on that thread. All I can do is hope I won't need download mode in the future or that it magically fixes itself.

Maybe do a bit of reading about using ADB and get a usb jig. You might really need download mode one day.

Already tried ADB and it didn't help, the phone rebooted normally, so I guess an USB jig is my best bet. I'll get one as soon as possible, better be safe than sorry.
Well, my luck got from bad to worse. I've tried to install CM12.1 today and now the phone is stuck on the Samsung logo with the yellow triangle and just stays there and nothing happens. I also can't get into recovery or download mode at all. All I did was copy the CM and Gapps zips on my sd card, boot into recovery, wiped everything and installed from zip. Both installs were succesfull, so I rebooted, but the phone just hangs on this stupid boot screen. Any advice?
EDIT: plugging in the charger makes the battery pop up, but it never starts up the filling with green animation, it just stays grey with the spiny circle icon.

I've eventually managed to get into download mode, but it said "Can't download, battery too low!". Problem is that the phone doesn't charge anymore. When I plug it in, the grey battery with the white circle appears, but it never actually charges. It gets really hot around the camera, but the battery doesn't charge even one bit.

First thing I would do is replace the battery. You might also have a usb port that is playing up, but try the battery first; they are fairly cheap.
Make sure you get either a genuine samsung or reputable brand battery.

The battery is brand new and it worked fine before the phone took this crap. And the USB port seems to be fine as well. I will try another battery tho, just to be sure. Just waiting for my USB jig now, it's supposed to arrive in the mail tomorrow.

How did you go with this? Same low battery issue, multimeter says battery is fully charged externally, but still giving me this error

Rooted now won't shut down

Can someone please help?
i did something so totally stupid last night. i don't know why I did it. I must have been on a sugar high from all the candy, or something, but I made the stupid stupid stupid mistake of "rooting" my beautiful Ascend Mate 2 using Kingroot.
And now it won't shut down.
I started the shutdown process when I wen to bed last night and it was still doing the shutdown process when I got up this morning, and it won't shut down.
Can someone please help? I really need my phone to shutdown or to remove this, what I now know to be not very good, Kingroot rubbish.
Thanks.
Hold the power button for I believe 10 seconds and it should shut down, or possibly attempt to reboot. Do you know if it will boot or work normally afterwards?
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
If I hold down the power button it reboots. I don't want it rebooting. I like to shut my phone down every night.
Any other options? Is there no way to remove Kingroot? I tried a bloatware remover app. It said it had uninstalled Kingroot but it is still showing on my phone and still works so I'm assuming it didn't remove it.
Would doing a factory reset work? I hate to have to do it but i will if necessary. Also, if I do a factory reset will it keep Android 5.1 or will it revert back to whatever Android was on the phone when I got it?
Thanks.
Even the Kingroot uninstaller won't uninstall this app.
I tried resetting the phone but all my apps (including Kingroot) are on my phone - even when I choose the option of setting it up as a new device.
I'm going to cry
So your device boots and works normally? I think you should just back up the apps/files you need onto your computer and then wipe the phone from recovery mode.

I tried doing a wipe data/factory reset using the power/volume up button combination and setting it as a new device but Kingroot was installed when it booted up after performing this procedure.. So i tried a second time. Same result. I tried several times to uninstall it using the apps own uninstaller. It won't uninstall.
I have managed to get it to a point where Kingroot is force-stopped and disabled but I'd like it removed.
I'd also like my phone to shut down properly.
I used to love this phone. And now I don't. All because of my own stupidity!
You're probably going to have to reflash the stock firmware for your phone to get Kingroot fully removed. This will clear out all your files so make sure you have everything you want backed up. The firmware files for your phone can be downloaded from the mirrors provided in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61682526&postcount=3 . They should contain a folder called dload with some files in it. Copy the dload folder to the root folder of of an SD card and put the card into your phone. Reboot into SD upgrade mode by holding Volume up + Volume down + Power buttons at the same time. You can let go of the Power button when your phone powers on.Now, just sit back and watch the installation progress as the device verifies and flashes the update. After that, your phone should reboot automatically. This will clear out anything you have on the phone itself and will flash the stock firmware. once it reboots you should be free of Kingroot. hope this helps.

Hi,
Just to let you know I did it last night at home, finally, and it worked a treat. Shuts down and restarts as it should and my keyboard works as fast as I do and not three hour behind like it was.
Thank you everyone who tried to help and to robertbarber for the solution.
