If you have made a nandroid backup of your previous Gingerbread system, flash a kernel containing CWM recovery and restore the nandroid backup.
If you have not made a nandroid backup of your previous Gingerbread system, then you have to identify, download and flash the latest stock ROM released by Sasmung for your phone in your region.
You can use Check Fus Downloader (from here => http://fus.nanzen.se/).
After flashing the correct firmware to your phone, KIES should recognize it again.
Please backup everything important before flashing.
Good luck !

[Q] Updating to KG5 via kies from 2.3.3 KF2

hello, i recently bought a SGS2 and i was just wondering, if i use kies to update the current XXKF2 kernel to the new KG5 one (also jumps from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 right?) will this process factory reset my phone? will i get to keep my current layout of apps and cellular operator settings or is it all gone?
oh, i forgot, is there an insecure KG5 kernel yet to root with?
Hi! I really dont know if it will reset the phone but if its just the kernel it should no change it. I would recommend you to do a nandroid backup (google) with clockwork. There should be an insecure kernel, after the backup update it. Then root it go into clockwork - advanced restore and restore ONLY DATA. This should work.
Note: if you need the insecure kernel please tell me the build version i'll provide a link.

Kies does not update a kernel its a full firmware update .
Kies updates do not normally wipe the phone but you should have a backup .

Scratch that, kies is being stupid and wont connect to the server so i cant update this way anymore, but i guess i can still use odin, im just not sure what kernels to use for the update and what kernels to use for the root, there are so many threads about this, im just getting more and more confused lol.
im currently running:
baseband:XXKF2
Kernel:XXKF2
Build:XXKF2
i'd like to update to the latest root-able firmware,
so if you can provide me with the link need i will appreciate it,
from what i gathered i need to flash the updated stock files, then flash the insecure files, the reflash the updated stock to remove the yellow warning sign, i think.
thanks.
STOCK ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Use latest with cwm and root to match .
Stock KG2 + Root KG2 or whatever
CWM AND ROOT

Hi! Link to download nearly every version you want: samfirmware.com register, its free. Cilck toolbox (upper right corner) firmware then android. Select galaxy s2 and download the package of your choice. (stock kernel will be in the package too)
I am new user so if you want the rooted kernel links for kg5,... Please pm me
Hit me up for any other questions !

And yes, you're right. Backup, stock firmware flash, restore data, root kernel flash and stock kernel flash.
If you are doing this with odin your data will be wiped so a backup is needed.

[Q] How to use KIES after having flashed a rom with Odin

Hi I purchase my phone to a friend that had already flashed it with odin, now I want to use KIES to upgrade my roms it is easier for me.
I heard that what is important is the csc file to change but I am in switzerland and I don't know what csc file too add to do the trick so that Kies will upgrade my phone.
Could you please help me ?
thanks
You need to install the original rom that came with phone via ODin first only then will kies recognise it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928&highlight=official+kernel
you can try there to check the original for your carrier flash it with odin and then kies should recognise your device as upgradable.
Although I would suggest you stick with Odin as you can get to flash latest rom on Odin first then wait for kies

[Q] ICS 4.0.4 problem

Hi All,
I am new and this is my first post,
I am from Egypt and i received update on Kies for the new ICS version 4.0.4 and i after installation i have the attached on my screen and can not remove. Also my SII is misbehaving and restarts on his own.
Note: i am using the official updates.
Also attached screen shot about the phone.
Please support, and Thank you All
M. Fawzy
Flashed official 4.0.4 many times and never had problem like this. I do suggest you:
1. Install custom kernel via stock recovery
2. Backup android apps.
3. do factory/data reset in custom recovery mode (power button+menu+volume up)
3. Download official 4.0.4 firmware from sammobile.com
4. Flash it via usb cable , using ODIN application.
more details for custom kernels, odin flash instruction, use search xda forum in general, development sections. More info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Theres tons of posts about this.Search about creating a file called "keystr".

[Q] samsung galaxy iii ( i 9300) i want to flash original stock rom

hello experts........ recently i have update my phone via OTA received .............. after the updation my usb connection to pc not working........ after the lot of search and solution ........ i have decided to go on flash Original factory rom............. please give me link for original stock rom 4.1.3
and my phone is not root........there is need of rooting or not ????????//
please help me.......... i appreciate your replies.
THERE IS NO stock rom 4.1.3 . if you want you can use kies to upgrade or initialise your phone firmware. or if you like you can flash any rom from sammobile.com just make sure the rom is for your phone. check model no. all firmwares are official.the firmware packages include odin . a tool for flashing. follow instructions. extract zip ands flash md5 file in pda in odin. DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING OTHER THAN PDA. if the phone doesn't boot or boot loops. factory reset phone should get it to boot up . also the usb connection can be fixed from kies . kies will install the drivers to enable the usb connection. If you do decide to flash by using odin . make sure kies is not running while you are u0sing odin.THERE ARE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS IN THE STICKIES HERE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2344125 NO NEED TO ROOT

[HELP] KIES

When i plug my phone into my laptop and open kies it says
"your firmware version is not supported to update via kies" what's wrong? It's odin stock rom
Odin is not a stock rom.
If you flashed a different rom using odin at some point then you've probably broken your kies route to an upgrade, use odin instead.
Okay thankyou i thought flashing an official firmware made it all work
