are we ever going to have wp7 on our tg01 ? just because we dont have the 3 buttons and the capacitive screen on our tg01 does that mean we cant have wp7? i mean we still have a powerful 1ghz snapdragon cpu and a decent ram. surely there is a way around this little problem.

No. Anyway nokser who 'apparently' got wp7 working has sold his tg01 and moved on like Others. Still is a great device and served me well. I use it as a handy backup now for data.

android development stopped way back in november-december. i doubt it would ever continue progress. nowadays, the hd2 devs have moved on, so i doubt you would see them coming back to develop for older devices.
Cotulla is the best dev around, who wasthe main hd2 porter for wp7 and android. and he also ported android for the hd mini.
anyway, even if android is finished, there will still be many problems, like poor battery life due to the kernel not built for the specific device etc. the hd2 even with amdroid/wp7 isnt perfect. it sucks up battery twice as fast as wm. so imagine that on tg01's....
Next week ice cream sandwich is coming. We will be able to install it on the Legend
without waiting HTC to release it for the Legend ?
How long will take to Cyanogen mod to release ice cream sandwich version?
Htc wont release it for legend, but as for cyanogen, I think as soon as the source for ics is avalible.

Yes but ICS will be compatible for all devices without the necessary manufacture mod for each device.
So we will be able to flash the original rom from Google?
But isn't it just for dual-core devices?

So you mean that Google will release ICS supporting all those (roughly estimated) 400 completely different platforms and a huge load of even more devices?
I absolutely doubt that.
I think google's meaning about this words, is for all the device after they release ics4.0

Actually they already developed that and called it "Dalvik" . It's what makes running the same app on completely different devices possible.
Still, for a hyper-visor to work you need a hardware abstraction layer and that brings us back to the problem I mentioned above.
The legend with the pass of the time are old... and I think that Ice Cream Dont Works fine in Legend... unless the legend stay overclocked...
Its My Opinion ^^
but you dont have to destroy our dreams
the legend is a grandpa,no doubt, but it WOULD be nice to even try to bring it to life. and thats the real deal, huh

I bet ice cream will barely run 'normal' on the desire, and that is a 1ghz phone, so where do we stand with our max clocked 806mhz?
I rather see more 2.3 roms with better looks and tweaks etc. then a 4.0 rom
But hey that just my opinion
I actually think 4.0 will run smoother then 2.3 due to the hardware acceleration, I think we have enough of gpu power.. I don't see why it shouldn't work
Google's statement:
If a phone runs 2.3, it will also be able to run 4.0
If only there would be a dev that is up to the job. That's the problem.
Also, if you're considering that everyone who had the Legend from day 1, their 2 year contracts are almost over and I think they would like a new phone as well ^^
There is no phone right now like our old legend. Compact, well built, everything that big ones have, legend has. Desire has the same GPU even.. Legend 2 would be nice..
I doubt they would do that
It's all about bigger screens nowadays (not a bad thing imo) but I have to admit, the Legend has a design that no other phone can compare with. I loved it when I had it in the old days!

Here in Canada, the only North American country who sold the Legend, we have 3 year contracts maximum (minimum, rather). Not saying I have one, but it's probably going to be a crappy feeling when everyone else abandons and you're stuck alone.

I Agree very strongly, my choice in the legend, was about the size, I upgraded from a Sony-Ericsson W595 so size was similar...
My wife got the DHD just after me, and it's TOOOOOOO big, not comfortable in my pocket at all.
If I had to choose a new phone to replace the Legend, it would currently have to be the HTC Rhyme, ok, its a bit bigger then the legend, but it is still smaller then the DHD, and its got some nice specs on it. Only problem is, I believe the Rhyme is only available on the optus network :-(

I have no idea what you are talking about.
I am asking for a phone.
Possibly the Sony Xperia Mini Pro. It's relatively small but it's well supported and does have official ICS.
If you look past the fact that it was released in 2010, I would definately say the HTC Desire Z aka G2. It has fantastic build quality and no qwerty devices yet, have surpased its awesomeness IMO. I have used many Samsung qwerty devices and they are just pitiful compared to the Desire Z. There are quite a few ICS roms for it here on xda.
+1 for the g2. There are quite a few ICS roms for it that are more than suitable as a daily driver. I'm still looking for a worthy successor that would add NFC, a front facing cam, and a dual core processor. That's really all it's missing.

Well, I did not state this but I currently have a Desire Z and as of right now, it is not getting a officialy ICS update. Im having problems with it (hardware wise looks like) and Desire Zs are not being sold anymore so im SOL. Thats why Im asking on another physical QWERTY keyboard devices that has XDA support AND has or will recieve a official update to ICS/JB.
Motorola Droid 4?
Posted from my rooted Motorola Atrix.
Xperia Pro MK16i/a. Got official ICS update from sony and ICS custom rom from freexperia/cyanogenmod team. single core processor msm8255 clocked at 1Ghz and 512mb of ram, HDPI devices. The bigger version of xperia mini pro sk17.
In my opinion, moto droid 3 is much better in term of hardware but the stupidity of motorola locking the bootloader, i suggest better you buy xperia pro..
Verizon just announced the droid incredible- this is pretty close, but it's missing the hardware keyboard. It has an S4 dual core, NFC, micro SD, and it's made by HTC. All they need to do now is add a keyboard and sell it on T-mo, or at least sell it with T-mo compatible bands.
Some might think the 4" screen size is too small, especially compared to some of the recent flagship phones. I don't watch many movies on my phone, so I would rather have portability and a convenient form factor. If the large screen trend continues, we might see bag phones make a comeback.
sent while running with scissors
I guess the era of physical keyboards is over, there really are no phones out there that aren't borderline obsolete and if you want to buy unlocked then good luck getting anything released after 2010
Honestly I dont get why none of those chinese cloners can make a good 6577 or 6589 phone with a slide-out qwerty

I would've gone for the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II (if it were available in my country), so I had to settle for SE Xperia Pro MK16i. I got really tired of full-touch screen slabs, so I went back to slide-out qwerty models. I really have no options available (imports are out of the question because I want local support in case of faulty hardware/manufacture defects and phone has to be compatible with our GSM infrastructure), it's sad I have to buy a 2011 model phone to use in 2013.
I dont know if you would be satisfied with its 800MHz single-core processor, but im actually quite pleased with the original qwerty on my LG Optimus L5, screen size iz fine 4.0'', and it has a lot of languages in it.

That's what I wrote on Facebook, besides the ad about Xperia E.
I don't think it will change anything, but we all "geeks" must understand our power to advise our friends about technology!
So,another single core product running Jelly Bean.
So dual core devices ARE NOT required - either for ICS or JB.
I have a Neo V and I am stuck with an ICS version with lots of bugs.
So,what your company says:
Buy a new Xperia Phone.
What I say? Buy another brand.
What companies don't realise is that you lose the "tech freak" customers. And guess what? The tech freaks are the ones that most people ask for their opinion before buying a new phone.
So,you didn't lose only me,but lots of my friends.
And that is why companies like Sony keep rolling down.
Very disappointed by Sony.

Firstly, bold text is just a sore to the eyes and no one appriciates it however good your motives must have been.
Now back on topic,
Honestly, I personally dont know any "tech-freak" who settles for something except a flagship device.
So whats your point?
Also, Sony wants to make profit. They are a loss if they keep updating old phones.
To me, it is a logical decision.
I mean, anyone would have done the same thing.
So, there's absolutely no point in crying about it.
At east we got ICS. Samsung Galaxy S didnt even get that.

Galaxy S did not receive officialy ICS, but the JB custom version of Galaxy S is better than our. They have a 3.x Kernel. Their team released a 3.x kernel, a jb rom with full butter. V-Sync is enabled. Triple bufffering is enabled. Then Yes, Galaxy S is better than our phone. Because Sony Stock Rom sucks.

Waiting for the release of stock jb rom for xperia,I think 1st should be xperia t,then skilled xda-er will port it to our devices.
Nothing will change n useless to create a rubbish thread...
Sony gave us ICS (for Neo V) before others, but it is laggy and full of bloat ware. I removed 85 bloat ware from it and my phone became quite smooth, but not satisfied with that also, I am using custom ROM and it is very smooth and much better than Sony. I will say xda-developers are better than Sony, so forget stock ROM and go for better ones.

So,in order to be considered a real tech-freak,you must always buy the most expensive phone and keep changing it for a newer device?
Really? How much money do you make? I live in Greece, the minimum salary is 580 Euros and Samsung Galaxy S III costs 700 Euros.
I am sorry, but from what you are saying, I will never be considered a tech-freak.
I never said it isn't a logical decision. It is a marketing decision. A pure marketing decision. And since I am a consumer, I am free to consider that Sony cheats its clients. I will not be satisfied with an extremely buggy ICS rom, and I will not be satisfied by reading silly things, that our Neo V can't run JB, but Xperia E can.

I wanted a phone, with some pretty decent specs.
And that's when I discovered the HTC Desire X.
At first it looked small, nothing too compelling,
Little did I know that this was poor foretelling.
It looked quite dull, quite cheap and quite bland,
that was before it landed in my hand.
A hand to a glove is like a hand to this phone,
It just feels so kind, you can't leave it alone.
But it's not just a nice grip that this phone possesses,
its predecessor's problems - this phone addresses.
Super screen, ace audio and camera filters too,
I think that Instagram had better watch out for you.
But if a camera's not enough, you just have to have more,
that's when you meet, the all acclaimed - Play Store.
With 1000's of apps, just waiting to be found,
From the ubiquitous Angry Birds, to the incredible SoundHound.
I found the phone, but with spectacular specs.
Thank you HTC, for my HTC Desire X
