stock-alike ROMs - HTC EVO 3D

Since i just got my Evo 3d, first thing doing was the bootloader unlock,i m thinking of either rooting and getting rid of crapware manually, OR, turn to you experts that can point me to good ROM's that have 3D functionality, some good audio, and Sense( yes, wasnt waiting to say that but i came to like it)

Leedroid rom is an stock based one and got everything working.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1245424
In this thread you can easily find the roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458032
Sense 3.0 roms are ofcourse stock based roms and will have 100% functionality I guess.
Sense 3.5 roms are for almost fully functional to, 3D recording and taking 3D pictures works, watching 3D works.
Only thing that is not work is real 3D games.

Mean ROM and Clean ROM are the best for stockified ROMS IMHO!

I'm assuming that you are on Sprint (or have a CDMA EVO 3D).
If you're on HBOOT 1.50, how did you flash E3DLight? You will need to flash it using the workaround trick of running 'fastboot boot [NAMEOFYOURRECOVERY].img'. I'm not completely sure what the status is of that specific ROM, but it may be just an issue with flashing ROMs.
No MIUI. I understand. Just one thing about MIUI though, you don't have to use the MIUI launcher. You can install a launcher like ADW, or LauncherPro. That's all I'm going to say on the MIUI front.
For AOSP, you might want to look at KMyer's CyanogenMod 7 port. It's not completely stable, but it's pretty good.
There really aren't too many more AOSP ROMs I can think of. If you don't mind a ROM built off the HTC base, but with much of the Sense stuff taken out of it, you might have a look at freeza's freEVO ROM.
Hope this helps,
~co~
PB9 from Deck is the most satble for my phone. All stuff is working except 3D, Camera and 4G.

Do you have to sacrifice something with each rom?

I was given a Verizon HTC 4G Thunderbolt today. My wifes old Fascinate was on the verge of dying, so it was perfect timing. I got her all setup with her apps/contacts and she started learning how to use her new phone..... but now that she's sleeping I figured I would "enhance" her new phone and maybe learn a little something in the meantime. If I don't manage to turn it into a paperweight
I've never flashed a ROM before, but I've rooted many phones. I managed to get this one rooted and have downloaded a few roms (haven't flashed them yet), but after going through the different options it seems like you are always sacrificing something with a rom, is this normal?
I found that one rom where the wifi didn't work (this is a must for my wifes limited data plan), I found another rom where the camera didn't work (We have 3 kids and her phone is basically her camera), I found another one where 4G wasn't supported (she's going from a 3G to a 4G phone, I want her to use that feature).
Anyway, it just seems like each one has something that doesn't work...Is this normal or did I just happen to click on the ones that have issues?

Which ROMs have you downloaded? I'd recommend ThunderShed for a Gingerbread base. I used that for several months without issue. I'm on Liquid's ICS now and only have the reported camcorder issue although the camera still works.
I haven't flashed anything yet, I just started downloading roms and happened to notice that Liquid didn't have a working video camera. I can't remember the names of each one, but as mentioned before, one didn't have a working wifi, one didn't support 4G.... so it just seemed like each one was missing something.
I'll look into the one you mentioned, thanks!
If youre looking for a ics sense 3.6 based rom with everything working I suggest trying out nusense 3.6. its pretty good and everything seems to work. what I am running now.
If you want a GB then for aosp thundershed is the way to go. If you want a good sense gb rom skyraider is perfect when it comes to sense roms and everything works on those 2.
Oh and might want to ask your wife if she wants you messing with her phone. Messing with a womans phone is like messing with her kid not a great idea lol. I know my wife has told me if I root her phone she will kill me.

LOL, I'll check them out, THANKS!
As for me rooting her phone, she doesn't have a clue what that means, she just knows that now she doesn't have ads in her games and she likes that.
She did complain that the HTC interface is way different than the Samsung interface (DUH), are there ary roms that would make it look/act like her Samsung?
Samsung usually runs aosp so if you flash liquid ics she may not notice if you use a touchwiz theme.

Lol I forgot about that because I never use it.

Also some people has had the camera to stop working also after while. Yeah sense is way different than touchwiz. You could look for a theme that mimics touchwiz.
You could download a launcher like HOLO, Go launcher and AWD (think thats what its called.) .
I will second the recommendation of Thundershed 1.6, which has been flawless since I flashed it (everything works, runs super fast and smooth, and battery life is way better than stock and most other custom ROMs). You do need to bear in mind that these are custom ROMs, meaning each is designed to reflect the priorities of the designer and involve a certain degree of risk (rooting and replacing the stock ROM invalidates warraty), but in my experience the custom ROMs I have used (only two: BAMF Son Of A Bliss aka SOAB 1.4; Thundershed 1.6) have been as stable (if not more stable) than the original Thunderbolt. Also keep in mind, *every* device is different and custom ROMs act differently on every device.
Those caveats in place, I'd research different custom ROMs, and how each can be customized with different launchers, lockscreens and themes, and try one or two out. The Sense-based ROMs will act more like the stock Thunderbolt. Sense based ROMs include SOAB, Skyraider Zeus, and BAMF Forever, and the AOSP ROMs include Thundershed, Liquid Smooth 3.2, and SFK's CM7 build. While everyone is excited about the new ICS custom ROMs they still seem pretty "BETA" (Santod's NuSense 3.6 seems furthest along) like and so I'd wait until all of the bugs are worked out and focus more on Gingerbread ROMs for your "daily driver."
Hope this helps.

[Q] Gingerbread Rom with Sixaxis Compatiblity

Hey there everyone,
I searched and search but couldn't find a ROM for the GSM Evo 3D which has its 3D and stuff working, is running Gingerbread and has sixaxis controller support..
I really looked around but couldn't find anything. Did I miss something or there really isn't any?

Well I am not sure if gingerbread even supports six axis compatibility. As I understand it, HTC never meant for the evo 3d to support otg (on the go) connections. Its a kernel thing. As of right now our awesome devs have otg working on their ICS/ JB kernels and only work with ICS and jb ROMs. My advice to you is if your rooted and depending on what carrier your phone is branded or unbranded, you will need to take the ruu update based on your current configuration.
Of course you will need to unlock your bootloader again. Its also recommended to gain s-off to minimize any issues.
If your familiar with jupounut bear wire trick method, head over to unlimited. io's website and look up gsm evo 3d and download the appropriate control bear. Study the picture. I used a speaker wire to perform the wire trick.
Make sure you touch both points at the same time. It will take a few tries or more to get it right but it does work. Just follow the directions to a T. Lol I know it is a lot but its worth it.
Once you gain s-off then flash your recovery (4ext highly recommended) through fast boot. Then flash your choice of ROM, then flash a kernel that supports otg according to os and network (most of the kernels today are universal)
Phew!! That's a mouthfull.

Hey there thanks for the answer!
I should've been more clear, sorry about that. I'm already S-OFF. Done the wire trick, felt like a mastermind when doing it lol.
The thing is ICS is not cool with games for me. There are crackling sounds in most of my games like Max Payne, Temple Run, Rayman Jungle Run etc.
When I first got this phone which was running Gingerbread back then, the games had no problems at all so I really liked GB for that.
I am using Agrabren's Jelly Bean-Disarmed Toaster ROM right now, which supports sixaxis and Jelly Bean is also quite good for games as there aren't any problems at all but this ROM is not really for daily usage as its a little buggy with small graphical glitches, no 3D, some apps not working, no video streaming from Youtube through mobile data etc.
If you are saying that its a kernel thing, then I'll try all the supported kernels with Leedroid's GB ROM, see if I get lucky.
PS. There is a kernel that says it makes the phone compatible with sixaxis app, but that kernel is for Desire HD. Considering I own EVO 3D, you wouldn't reccomend I flash that would you?
This is the kernel I'm talking about:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518896
Of course not. You should never flash any kernel that's not meant for your phone. You run the risk of messing it up real bad.
Yeah I though so too..
Well thanks for clearing that up, really appreciated.

need a rom with a good working camera/camcorder

as the title says, looking for suggestions on a rom with a good working video camera. i've run tron and infection from neo and absolutely adore them. 4.2 is better than .1 but still not perfect, just kinda playing the field and looking for suggestions on things from people who have had good experiences with any particular rom. i've been running jellybean, so i'm a bit spoiled and don't really wanna go backwards. thanks all!

If you don't want to go backwards then I'm afraid to say that you are stuck. There is a definite drawback to running the cutting edge with an aging phone. One of the most glaring is the lack of a flawlessly working video camera. Neo just updated his Rage ROM (which is ICS, of course), and that update may bring some of the sweetness of JB to ICS (I haven't run it yet so I can't confirm yet). However, Chad had just about everything but bluetooth calling nailed with ICS AOSP, so that would be your best bet if you want to remain on AOSP. Sense will give you the absolute best video recording and playback; hands down. It's a trade-off, and really hard to make the decision sometimes!
Are there bad camera issues with any of the sense 4+ Roms? Just really over stock in general. I don't use Bluetooth and tether isn't too important to me. Just wanna stay away from stock and still have a working camera/camcorder

No, Sense 4+ cameras are just as good as the 3.6 camera. HTC definitely got their camera app right. AOSP ROMs don't have quite the same quality, but they will suffice if you don't want to compromise the slickness of your phone.

I was on Infection and the "Dr. Who". They are really cool, but felt like a wanted something a little more stable....Apparently so did Neo, while the bugs are being worked out so he released a new version of RAGE AOSP, optimized with his recent work....Its ICS, but it barely misses a beat......yes...its not quite as buttery, but its as close as I've seen on ICS and soooo stable!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1899085
From what I have seen even with the thunderbolt. If you want great pictures and videos then you have to run a sense ROM. As good as aosp is over all the camera section just sucks in quality of photo. To bad you can't incorporate the sense camera part in to aosp. Only thing I can say is have a backup of both but thats just not practical. I only run sense ROMs as the battery life is much better than it was on my bolt running aosp GB and ICS. I haven't been brave enough to do s off yet. Good luck on finding your holy grail.

thanks everyone, it's much appreciated. if i do want to go back to ICS rage or even a sense rom, will i have to do anything special as far as flashing the rom goes? i'm s-on still so i'm familiar with flashing the rom/kernal...anything extra needed to get on a sense 4+ rom or go back to Rage?

I never had to do anything special but I never flashed an aosp ROM on my rezound. So just as long as you flash what you need to in the boot loader you should be good to go.

Most stable daily driver rom with 3d camera?

As per the title, I'm looking for an updated rom for my GSM EVO 3D with most things working (3d camera, data, wifi, bluetooth file transfer) would anyone have anything to recommend? Im currently looking at YAS4 v9. But I'm still not too sure if I want the stock android experience or newSense. YAS4 v9 seems to have some 3d camera problems though. For stock android I'm looking at PACman rom. Looks like its the most stable and if I'm reading correctly, the 3D camera works.
Anyone have any opinions to contribute? Perhaps you would like to share your experiences with some roms you have tried? Thanks in advance!

I have tried the unofficial CM roms by Johnnyslt. In general they are awesome and you get all at least cutting edge software but it doesn't have a working 3D camera so keep your hands off those ROMs. As far as I know they are working on a fix though. I remember reading that dastin or agrabren is working on it or at least was.

Only sense 3.5 and 3.6 are fully working. Sense 4.x sill have some problems and on AOSP ROMs 3d camera doesn't work. So, if you want a stable, fully working ROM go with sense 3.6. There's a lot of them you could try

That sounds good though, do you know what specific problems they have with Sense 4 Roms?
The biggest is the fact that camera app is ported from sense 3.6 so it's not compatible with gallery app. You would need to download third party app to se your pics in 3d. Other than that some small bugs, not really worth mentioning. And some people reported reboots on YAS ROM. I 've tried it for a day or two and didn't have reebots
